He waited eight years, but I didn't know he existed.
I inherited a house and came to this small town to figure out my life. What I didn't expect was a contractor with green eyes to show up with a toolbox and a tattoo identical to mine.
The tattoo appeared when I was eighteen, and I barely remembered getting inked with flames and scales. I thought it was just a tattoountil I met Dray. He breathes fire and says the universe chose us, but I don’t believe in destiny.
I don’t want fate choosing my life, but walking away from Dray means denying something ancient and powerful burning inside me.
And I’ve never been good at resisting fire.

A tattoo bound them. A fire revealed them. A choice made them whole.
Pax doesn’t believe in destiny. Inheriting a house from his eccentric aunt is supposed to be a reset, not a rewrite. He moves to a quiet town to figure himself out, not to meet a green-eyed contractor with the same mysterious tattoo inked on his skin since he was eighteen. A tattoo he barely remembers getting. A tattoo that burns hotter every time Dray gets near.
Dray’s waited eight years for his mate. He doesn’t know who they’ll be or when they’ll arrive, only that the bond will hit like a spark to dry timber. When Pax shows up, stubborn and scared of anything permanent, Dray doesn’t chase. He stays grounded, gives space, and lets Pax come to him. But some things aren’t meant to be avoided, and what grows between them is too strong to deny.
As truths unfold about dragon shifters, mystical marks, and a bond deeper than blood, Pax has to face what he thought he knew about love, trust, and belonging. What begins with resistance turns into a relationship built on safety, tenderness, and something real.
Pax starts off lost and closed off, but slowly becomes a man who welcomes connection, love, and the unexpected. Dray is steady and quietly intense, shaped by years of waiting, and grows into a nurturing, protective partner. From late-night cravings and chaotic family dinners to quiet moments in firelit rooms, Pax and Dray learn how to choose each other every single day.
A steamy, fated mates, mpreg, dragon shifter, small town MM romance, with mystical tattoos, supernatural bonds, and the intensity of two lives colliding. It explores identity, belonging, transformation, family, vulnerability, trust, and acceptance. It’s about finding connection when you least expect it, choosing love even when it scares you, and building a home where fate may begin their story but love writes the rest.
The Elevator Pitch: A mysterious tattoo draws a lost man into the path of a dragon shifter who’s waited years for their bond to awaken. What begins in doubt burns into a fierce connection shaped by longing, trust, and the echo of something ancient. Steamy, emotional, and laced with magic, it’s about choosing each other even when fate is already written.
Dray has been waiting for years. He always thought he would finish college and leave his hometown to build his life. However, his dragon insists that he must return home to await his fated mate.
Pax has never felt like he fit in anywhere. While his family loves him, he still feels alone much of the time. Upon the passing of his aunt, he moves into her home that is now his and has some time to figure out what he wants from life.
Years before, at the urging of his aunt, Pax got a tattoo on his shoulder. He doesn't really remember being inked with the flames and scales that now permanently adorn his body. At his aunt's home, he learns that his new contractor friend has the same tattoo. This is the first of a series of surprising and scary revelations.
Understandably frightened of his friend that suddenly changed into a mythological beast, Pax is brave enough to talk with Dray to better comprehend what he saw. Dray, who has been waiting for years for his mate, is terrified that he'll do something to drive Pax to reject him.
These characters are loving and both searching to be made whole. Dray helps Pax settle into his new life and better navigate the path that has brought him from a place of not belonging anywhere, to a valued and adored member of Dray's family. Pax helps Dray to slow down and build a deeper and more emotional bond with him as per many human relationships. Both characters are relatable, baring their insecurities and need for family.
A fun-loving family and baby dragons fill out this lovely omegaverse romance.
Four stars.

This is book two in the multi author Love Sync Ink series in which one in a pair of fated mates mysteriously receive a tattoo that matches their unknown mate’s and that, along with scent, helps them identify their mate. This was a new twist for me in shifter fated mate romances but I absolutely loved the way it played out.
Pax, being a human, couldn’t understand why he couldn’t remember getting a tattoo of flaming dragon scales past walking in the parlor door or why at times it still burned even years later. In contrast, Dray, a dragon shifter, hours away, wasn’t too awful surprised when a tattoo dramatically appeared on his skin at the same instant indicating he had a fated mate which, we found out later, matched Pax’s exactly. Now if only he could find the bearer of the matching tattoo!
Although the manner of finding each other was different, or maybe BECAUSE it was different, I really enjoyed this one. I especially loved that it was mostly angst and drama free. And I say mostly because there was a little but I didn’t mind too much because the sweetness that resulted from it WAY overshadowed any possible angst.
I mentioned in a recent review that I preferred the traditional take on shifter life but this book proved to be an exception to that and I ended up loving it. I sincerely hope other readers will check this one out because you may find you like it as well as I did. 4.25 stars.

Getting inked is not a decision people take lightly and most, I know I did, take time to consider what they want their ink to be. For Pax the decision to have a tattoo was a clear one, the choice of that tattoo design is a blank in his mind. He went into the parlour and came out with a tattoo of flames and scales covering his shoulder. It's been there for eight years now and his beloved aunt June, the one who was always there, advocating for him, encouraging him, has passed on, leaving him her house. As soon as he drives into town the tattoo tingles.
At the same time as Pax got his tattoo Dray was up a ladder which he promptly fell off in shock as a tattoo formed itself on his shoulder. A tattoo of flames and scales. It was the sign that his fated mate was out there somewhere. Eight years later he is still waiting, wondering if the wait has been worth it, if he made the right choices. Then it starts to tingle, even more so when he is anywhere near the newcomer. His dragon is nagging him, telling him the new man in town is theirs.
It's not so simple though. Pax is human. Dray is a dragon shifter. The story that unfolds is amusing, heartwarming, heart wrenching (for a few pages) and absolutely beautiful. It had me curious from the outset, that curiosity built and I fell in love with Pax, Dray, the dragon's extended family, the town and the possibility of the life they could build. I felt very lucky to get a glimpse into it and finished with a very full and happy heart!.

The multiauthor Love Sync Ink series features fated mates joined by matching tattoos. Book two,"Intrinsic Ink" is Colbie Dunbar's contribution. Alpha dragon shifter, Dray, feels a burning sensation in the shoulder his tattoo is on, when his fated mate gets tattooed. Unfortunately, it's going to be eight years before they meet. As years pass with nothing, his dragon becomes impatient and reckless, shifting where humans might see. At age eighteen, in a small act of rebellion, human omega, Pax, decides to get a tattoo. One moment he's thinking about it. The next, he's inked with a winged, scaled dragon on his shoulder. He then does what his parents expect, goes to school, gets his degree and a soul smothering cubicle job. Inheriting his great aunt's house, he quits his job, and leaves the city for small town life. Pax is unaware of the paranormal world, and Dray doesn't want to rush the omega into mating. Much to his dragon's disgust, Dray decides to woo him at human (ie turtle) speed. The romancing is quite sweet. Normally, I enjoy the inner snarky banter between a shifter and his supe. But, dragon Dray was too much. Too annoying and a bit meanspirited. This was offset by Dray's crazy, nosy and loving family. Colbie Dunbar's omegaverse has a set formula. Meet-mate- baby. But the story is in the details and she has, once again, given us a fresh, original story.

I really enjoyed reading Intrinsic inks by Colbie Dunbar! It is a Dragon shifter, M preg, fated mates gay romance.
Pax is searching for something. Something missing, only he's not sure what it is. His favorite Aunt suggests getting a tattoo something permanent he can choose and control. I think we have all felt like something was missing or wanting to have even a little bit of control. I thought the story was fast paced but it was believable. Pax was able to start over and make his life what he really wanted. Something not all of us get to do but he bravely moved forward and rolled with the punches.
Dray is a dragon shifter that is at war with his dragon. He wants the freedom to live his life but He is also grounded because f the past eight years he has been waiting for his mate. I appreciate that frustration he has the longing for something different and the internal battle we often go through when our inner self is waiting for something to happen.
I appreciated that Dray gave Pax an option to not act on their bond. It wasn't forced or anything it happened quick but completely and it is worth your time reading.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fire, fate, and found family perfection
Intrinsic Inks completely hooked me. The fated-mates twist with matching tattoos was such a cool concept, and I loved how the story balanced destiny with choice—especially through Pax, who resists the idea of fate even while feeling something ancient and undeniable pulling him toward Dray.
Dray is peak devoted shifter energy. Eight years of waiting? Camping in the rain to prove his loyalty? Absolute dragon-book-boyfriend behavior. 🔥🐉 His patience and quiet certainty contrasted beautifully with Pax’s hesitation and need to figure out his own life.
The worldbuilding was fun and cozy with just the right amount of magic, and the small-town vibe plus meddling family made everything feel warm and lived-in. And yes—dragon babies hatching under the stars completely melted my heart.
This book delivered romance, heat, tenderness, and that deep “coming home” feeling. If you love fated mates, shifters, and a love that feels written in the universe itself, this one is a must-read. Loved it. 💚🐣.

This book is part of the multi-author Love Sync Ink series. Each book is a standalone read. This is the story of Pax and Dray. Pax is heartbroken by the death of his aunt. He has returned to her small town as she left him her house. Pax also has a tattoo of flames and scales that he doesn't remember getting when he was eighteen. Dray is a dragon shifter and he has known for eight years that he has a mate somewhere. That is when his flames and scales tattoo showed up. He has been unable to leave town since it showed up. The two meet when Pax needs work done on his newly inherited home. Dray is a contractor and knows instantly that Pax is his mate. Just one or two small problems. Pax doesn't know about the world of shifters and he isn't aware of fated mates. This is their story. The book is well written and easy to read. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow. This is a cute and sweet read.

I have loved reading this story of two fantastic characters who suddenly find a tattoo on their shoulders but have to wait eight years before they find each other and have to joy of discovering their other half and three beautiful babies in their lives for a HEA. Dray is a dragon shifter who, when his tattoo appears, knows his fated mate is out there and has to wait eight years in his home town, when he would have been happier going out into the world to find a better life. Just when he has almost given up hope, Pax, who is a human omega, having inherited a house from his great aunt, arrives in town. He has the same tattoo on his shoulder, that he had no memory of getting. When he finds Dray, he is everything that he wants in an alpha, I had no idea if he was a dragon shifter. Is the shock too much for him or is he going to give Dray the chance that he wants and needs with his fated mate.
I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.
Intrinsic Inks by Colbie Dunbar is less about tattoos and more about shifters, with no complaint from me! We meet the human MC first, and Pax does not seem to be aware of the shifter world. Upon being introduced to the shifter MC, Dray, it is clear that shifters are not out to the world at large. Dray does have to let Pax know about shifters before he can hope to make Pax his mate and therein lies the tale of this book. It is fun seeing Dray postpone the big reveal time after time until his interfering father steps in. This being a classic shifter story, everything happens quickly after that. Mating and dragon babies both arrive almost before Pax can telephone his parents with the good news. The dragon babies are cute and keep both parents on their toes! I enjoyed this mpreg book more than I expected to. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Pax had been in a rut not knowing what he wanted to do with his life when his Aunt June suggested that he get a tattoo. While running errands for his dad he stopped by a tattoo shop and walked out with a new tattoo that he didn't remember getting. Dray a dragon shifter was working with his dad on a house what he thought he got stung by a wasp. But when he pulled off his shirt what he discovered was a tattoo. His father explained that it would match his fated mates tattoo. 8 years later when Pax moves into town to move in the house that his aunt had left him Dray finally knew his weight was over. I thoroughly enjoyed this book but I found the preschool aspect hilarious because I was the same way when my daughter first started Head Start. I cried like a baby because she didn't want me to stay with her for her first day of school.

“I used to make wishes on stars up here. Aunt June told me the universe was listening.
This is book 2 in a new multi-authored series called Love Sync Ink. This book was written by Colbie Dunbar and since she's one of my favs I picked this up on Booksprout when it appeared. I haven't checked out book 1 yet, but I will. I'm assuming this is similar to the Love Sync Mates seasons 1 & 2. Hopefully all the authors will be here for this series as well.
What a great story. We have a sweet human, a bit unmoored after his great aunt passed away, looking to make some changes in his life. There's also a dragon that knows for sure he has a fated mate but then ends up having to wait 8 years to actually meet them.
Spontaneous ink, a fortuitous inheritance, having to romance his mate the human way, shifter/human, fated mates, meggs, meddling shifter family
Intrinsic Inks is a cosy, low-angst MM romance that blends small-town charm with fated mates and a touch of dragon magic. Pax’s journey through grief and uncertainty is handled with warmth, making his search for belonging feel grounded despite the fantastical elements. Dray, steadfast and devoted, brings a gentle intensity to the story that suits the fated bond beautifully.
The matching tattoos and shifter lore add a fun twist, while the domestic moments and growing connection keep the romance front and centre. The tone stays light and comforting throughout, making it an easy, feel-good read rather than a high-stakes drama.
Sweet, magical and quietly heartfelt, this is an ideal palate cleanser for readers in the mood for destiny, found family and a happily-ever-after with a bit of fire.

Pax loved his Great Aunt. When he was 18 she told him “get a tattoo if you’re looking for something permanent”. He barely remembers walking into the tattoo parlor but came out with a gorgeous shoulder of flames and scales. Years later when she died she left her house to Pax and he decided a move was just what he needed. Dray is a dragon shifter who longs for his mate. Something has kept him in town for eight years, but he is not sure what until he meets Pax. Dray has the same tattoo, and it lights up when he is around pax. But he is taking it slow as Pax is human, and Dray doesn’t know about any tattoo pax may have. And now he has gone and scared him off. Intrinsic Inks as Book 2 of Love Sync Ink. A sweet PNR, slow burn, spicy Mpreg. And dragons. Did I mention dragons? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I was hooked on characters of and connection between Pax and Dray from the very start. Pax spent so long just wanting to fit somewhere, always feeling like the odd one out. He was an extremely sympathetic character. Drsay was at odds with himself. He wanted more, but wanted to stay rooted at the same time. That was also very relateable. The chemistry between them was immediate and insane, though both denied themselves (for different reasons). Gotta love Dray's family though. Full of advice and good intention, they clearly loved him. A well written, clearly plotted story, the authors take you through Pax and Dray's journey methodically, ensuring you experience all the highs and lows along the way. I'm very much looking forward to the next book in this series!.
I was gifted a copy of this book and voluntarily provided this review. Happy Reading Y'all 📚
This is another thoroughly enjoyable story from the creative pen of Colbie Dunbar. Characters are realistic (even dragon shifters) and relatable, the heating dragon tattoo that reacted to Pax and Dray being in close proximity was a cute element to bring them together, loved the dragon talk in Dray’s head, and the reaction Pax had to initially seeing Dray’s dragon. The story had me smiling much of the way through, enjoying the developing relationship between the two men. Loved the exuberance of Dray’s family, and Pax’s acceptance of his lover’s dragon once he got over his shock, and Dray’s persistence to get him to talk. Can’t ever go wrong with a Colbie Dunbar mpreg, no matter the characters or setting, be they shifters, mafia or whatever, the story is sure to be entertaining.

A tender, longing romance, with a dragon shifter and a human mate who had no idea he was fated to a shifter.
Pax doesn't believe in destiny. He inherits his great aunt's house and comes to a quiet town to figure out his life. He meets Dray, a handsome green eyed contractor who is going to help him out with the house. But Dray has the same exact tattoo Pax got when he was eighteen, eight years ago. Pax is a human who has no idea about shifters and certainly not that dragons exist. It's a little scary when he finds that out. But he's already in love with Dray and can handle it. Dray's family are lovely supporting characters and Pax's parents are sweet. Also his great aunt June? I think she knew more than she was telling...
Lovely story.

This is a Great Book to Read!! This is the second book in this series. This is a series about getting Ink and finding your fated mate with a matching tattoo, or having your fated mate put the tattoo on you. In this book Pax has inherited a house from his Great Aunt and has moved to town to get the key to the house from the attorney. Pax got a tattoo 8 years ago it is Orange and Red Flames with Scales. Dray Galloway was home from college helping his dad 8 years ago when he fell off the ladder and realized that he had a fated mate and not he just had to wait for them to show up. What happens when Pax first sees Dray's dragon?? Will Pax stay or will he run away??? Will Pax accept that Dray is a shifter or will he think he is going crazy??/.

Pax & Dray eight years ago got matching ink and its not until fate makes it their time to meet are they able. When Pax aunt June passes away leaving him the possibility of a fresh start he can't help but take the opportunity and hope for the best. Dray has known since getting his ink he had a mate but hasn't met him and when does all the pieces fall as they should. The two of their connection is adorable and was fun to see their interactions with Drays crazy family. It was nice to see them get to know one another before mating, seeing as one is human while the other is not. Overall, an enjoyable read, just wanted to see more of their relationship before building their family. An interesting beginning and would be willing to try more from this universe.
This was a fairly quick and cute read. Pax and his grief over his aunt felt very real and Dray was a sweetheart with him. Unfortunately, I found Dray's inner dragon annoying (and a couple times his family as well). I'm not sure what put me off in particular about Dray's dragon, but it was a novel experience for sure. His family was just a bit too pushy for me and I know that's a personal thing so a lot of people will not mind them. Thankfully the majority of the book was Dray and Pax being cute together which I did like reading. If you're looking for something that won't take too long to read and will be a nice palate cleanser between heavier reads, this is a good pick.

Pax and Dray story was quite interesting with a dragon and human pairing, a tattoo that connects them, shenanigans, meddling well intentioned family, a couple of surprises, and happiness. It had a bit of heartache as the moment of truth caused a bit of a rift, but with perseverance, dedication, care and love they get over it. It had a couple of hilarious moments, as well as sweet ones, loving instances, and endearing discoveries. I liked their moments together, and the bundles of joy that made their family complete. It was an enjoyable read, and I’m looking forward to the next adventure.
How cool that Pax got a tattoo which he doesn't remember choosing, but looks with flames and scales. It is sad Pax moves, because his aunt died, but the bright side is that he is being able to make a new start in her house and find out what he really wants in life. Next thing he knows he meets Dray whose dragon knows Pax is their mate, but he can't say that to Pax. So cute how Dray does things for Pax and messes up with all the wet things. And his family is adorable but also meddling.
I like how this story goes further, but can't say to much, because that would spoil things for you as a reader. Because if you are into reading fantasy with dragons in it, this is a lovely story to read.
This story grabbed me from the first pages. It never let me go. The characters are vibrant and alive. The background is vivid and easy to visualize. Dray and Paz are perfect for each other. Their attraction is as immediate as it is inevitable. Their matching tattoos show Fate's plan for them. The road to HEA isn't always smooth, but they get there all the same. And don't get me started on the sex! So hot... keep your fan on hand. I just loved this book! I am sure you will love it, too. So grab it Now. You know you want it!.

There were things he did not know. Paz, an omega, inherits a house from his aunt that brought him to a small town. Where he discovered that there was much about himself that he had yet to learn. When Dray, an alpha and a contractor, shows up, Paz finds that he has a mate. Someone with the same tattoo that helps to signal their belonging to one another. The beginning of a journey to HEA that was unexpected, but hot and definitely not boring. This was good and spicy.

Deliciously hot! Pax, inherits his Aunt's house. He is hoping to take a pause and figure out his life. Dray, shows up to help fix the house up. The fact they have the same tatoo, opens the door to a new worls for Pax. These two men are absolutely delightful! Their adventure of discovery of new realities of life and their mate relationship is fun. The pacing, is on target. The supporting family and friends are fun. The courtship is sweet and hot. Good story, great flow, nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wouldn't it be interesting if getting a tattoo led to your person? I mean, finding your person then finding out they turn into a dragon may take some getting used to though. Pax doesn't even remember getting his that well. But it leads him on a path to his dragon, Dray. Their story is very sweet with a point where a stubborn dragon refuses to leave the yard, even in a rain storm. The way Dray's family takes Pax in and loves him is something we all strive for. Acceptance and love.
Pax loved his great-aunt June, he felt that she was the only person that got him when he was 18 June thought he should maybe get a tattoo. He doesn’t remember getting the tattoo but it had orange and red flames surrounded by scales on his left shoulder at the same time it also appeared on Dray’s shoulder. Dray’s father told him that was his mate mark that he had a mate somewhere but his dragon didn’t feel that he could leave town so he waited for 8 years until Pax moved into June’s home that he inherited. Because Pax was human Dray had to do things differently but Pax accepted Dray’s dragon.
I'm really enjoying this series and Colbie's addition to it was nice...very nice. Pax and Dray were linked unknowingly in the past. Sad circumstances brought them together. Their journey to happiness was kinda bumpy...a little angsty but once they overcame that hurdle, their romance was lovely and sweet. I really enjoyed this...especially Dray's family unit...so caring and loving to Pax...no questions asked. Loved it. The magical ink does wonders and I can't wait to read more in this series.
