Audacity
Audacity weaves a captivating tale that challenges societal norms and explores the depths of human connection. This spinoff from the Alchemy series delves into the complexities of love, faith, and personal growth, offering readers a thought-provoking journey through the hearts and minds of its protagonists.

At the heart of the story lies the unlikely pairing of Gabriel Sullivan, a former Catholic priest, and Athena, a sophisticated “full service” executive assistant. Their relationship blossoms in the corporate world, where efficiency and professionalism collide with raw emotion and desire. This unconventional romance raises intriguing questions about the nature of vocation, the boundaries of intimacy, and the transformative power of love.

Elodie Hart skillfully navigates the moral conundrum faced by Gabriel as he reconciles his past as a priest with his growing feelings for Athena. This internal struggle adds layers of depth to his character, inviting readers to contemplate the intersection of faith, desire, and personal ethics. Simultaneously, Athena’s journey of self-discovery challenges her own preconceptions about love and career, creating a compelling parallel to Gabriel’s transformation.

Audacity doesn’t shy away from celebrating female empowerment. The portrayal of Athena and her colleagues at Seraph as confident, intelligent women who embrace both their intellectual and physical prowess adds a refreshing dimension to the romance genre. Their unwavering support for one another serves as a powerful testament to the strength of female friendships and solidarity.

Elodie’s writing masterfully orchestrates a symphony of emotions, taking readers on a rollercoaster ride of passion, doubt, and self-discovery. The palpable chemistry between Gabriel and Athena is balanced with moments of vulnerability and introspection, creating a rich tapestry of human experience that resonates long after the final page.

In essence, Audacity is a thought-provoking exploration of love’s power to challenge our deepest-held beliefs and transform our lives in unexpected ways. It invites readers to question societal norms, embrace personal growth, and believe in the possibility of love that transcends boundaries.

I read the ebook of Audacity earlier this year, but the audiobook narrated by Shane East and Zara Hampton Brown just brings Gabe and Athena into living color, making it an almost tactile experience along with all the aural perfection

I can’t say enough about this spinoff from the Alchemy series, but it was so well done. I found the Alchemy series to be pretty much perfect and very high on a pedestal, and to my delight, Audacity doesn’t disappoint. Priest love is a thing in Romancelandia, and former Catholic priest Father Sullivan just got added to my list.

Duplicity
When Marlowe has exhausted all resources to care for her daughter Tabby’s deteriorating heart condition, her bestie Athena helps her out with an audition with her former employer for an “executive assistant with benefits” job with her soon to be brother-in-law Brendan. Although Marlowe has reservations about the “unconventional” specifics of the job, she will do whatever she needs to secure her daughter’s operation and better life.

The chemistry between Brendan and Marlowe is strong and palpable, forming the emotional core of their story. Their connection is not just physical or romantic, but deeply emotional, shaped by their individual struggles and vulnerabilities. The narrative emphasizes how their relationship is forged through adversity—Marlowe’s desperation to care for her daughter, Tabby, and Brendan’s own hidden emotional struggles. This shared sense of imperfection and hardship draws them together in a way that feels both authentic and extraordinary.

Brendan is initially presented as a playboy with a reputation for spoiled, rich-kid behavior. However, as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that this persona is a façade masking deeper emotional issues he hasn’t fully confronted. Elodie skillfully reveals layers of Brendan’s character, showing glimpses of kindness and gentleness that Marlowe is uniquely able to see. His flaws are not excused, but rather explained, allowing readers to empathize with him and understand his actions from a more nuanced perspective.

Marlowe is portrayed as a devoted mother, willing to exhaust all her resources for her daughter’s health. Her resilience and determination are central to her character, but she is also vulnerable and in need of support. Marlowe’s ability to see beyond Brendan’s surface behavior and connect with his true self is a testament to her empathy and strength. Through her eyes, readers witness Brendan’s transformation and the growth of their relationship.

I loved the exploration of the emotional depth of both characters. Their imperfections and the way they navigate their respective struggles make their relationship feel genuine and relatable. This complexity ensures that readers are invested not just in the romance, but in the personal
journeys of both Brendan and Marlowe.

Elodie doesn’t disappoint with the strong chemistry between Brendan and Marlowe, but she also digs into the souls of these flawed through no fault of their own, imperfect people who somehow made their way to one another in a most extraordinary way. The chemistry between Brendan and Marlowe is both intense and emotionally layered, rooted in the complexity of their characters. Their flaws, struggles, and growth are integral to the story, making their connection feel authentic and deeply moving.

I can’t wait for the next book in this series!

Vivacity
Vivacity is the third book in Elodie Hart’s Seraph series, but it works as a standalone as well as part of the larger Alchemy universe. Theis story follows Ethan Kingsley, a profoundly complex and dysfunctional billionaire who is struggling with the aftermath of a failed marriage, a fractured relationship with his teenage son, and a revolving door of executive assistants. Ethan uses work, alcohol, and casual sex to numb himself, but his world shifts when Sophia, placed by an elite agency called Seraph, enters his life to offer a “full service” executive assistant solution. Sophia isn’t Ethan’s usual pick for an assistant from Seraph, but when he sees her, nothing will stop him from hiring her. Unlike Ethan’s previous assistants, Sophia uses her clinical background to understand Ethan. She doesn’t scare easily, and Ethan has become a bit of a project to her. Over time, as Sophia works to help Ethan confront his personal issues, their professional relationship gives way to emotional intimacy and romance, with Sophia gradually awakening the vulnerable side of Ethan while coming to terms with her own struggles. The novel is noted for its mental health representation and emotional depth.

I love the way Elodie gives you all the heat and beautiful romance, stunning workplaces and global travels, while also repping mental health and the emotional depth these goddesses have, and bring it out in their partners. This series is just so full of girl power, and they’re Queens of their respective castles! Although they are employed by these complicated billionaires, these amazing assistants are their equal, if not more. Although this series is a spinoff of the Alchemy series, it holds its own. That’s a testament to Elodi’s writing. Brava!
