KILL ZONE: A NEAGLEY THRILLER

Rate this book
Two shots. Two bodies. One NEAGLEY.

A political consultant is shot dead from eight hundred yards away.

Beside the firing position the police find a single rifle casing with one word carved into the brass.
NEAGLEY.

Frances Neagley has never heard of the victim. She was seven hundred miles away when he died. But someone went to extraordinary trouble to put her name at the scene.

Neagley stops waiting for the police to figure out why.

Someone else is hunting the same answers Neagley is — and they're willing to kill everyone who gets close.

To learn why her name is being carved into the evidence, Neagley will have to follow the trail into a past that powerful people have spent years and lives keeping buried.

Perfect for fans of Lee Child's Jack Reacher, Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp, and Gregg Hurwitz's Orphan X — lean, relentless, and impossible to put down. If you love Robert Ludlum, Brad Thor, and Mark Greaney, meet your next Frances Neagley.

Neagley gets pulled into a murder case without knowing what the connection to her is. Kill Zone by Dan Ames is a brand new adventure with one of my favorite characters from the Reacher series. Former military police and now a private investigator Neagley has her own wonderful way of dealing with bad guys. This one is the third book in the series by this author but she appears in one of his other series as well. The story is very well written and doesn't give you much room for other activities. You feel a strong need to know what will happen. I will recommend this book along with others from this storyteller. Thanks for the advance copy.

Dude: SLOPPY. Come on, really? Nobody looked through this manuscript before it went to print and asked "hey what about that assassin guy in Indonesia that the General called in to help find the sniper?" You know, that hyper-lethal scary-ass cokehead guy guy who 50 pages from the end of the book was knocking out the entire family of the last victim with chloroform and then rooting through his study to find clues that lead back to the shooter? Think you might have wanted to mention him again, maybe put him in Neagley's path like you were clearly planning on? No? We're just gonna drop that whole thread completely as if it never happened? Okay, cool...whatever gets you cranking out your short-ass books faster so you can make a buck I guess.

I don't know how Mr Ames (Like aims) could miss the mark (get it? Ames - Mark) by so much - but by golly he did.

In this Reacher Knock Off - he totally loses the timeline of Neagley, and the various antagonists she is trying to track down. All the antagonists are in their late 50's and yet ten years prior - they were out and about creating military mayhem.

We are led to believe that Ms. Neagley has had her own firm for close to 20 years - and yet to make
things fit - she has accomplished all this fame and fortune in under 10 years.

Lastly - the main protagonist has hired someone to find out who is killing his operatives - and the book ends and we do not know the where abouts of the mysterious Kaiden.

Two stars is actually a gift for this novel.

Kill Zone - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Ex-MP in Reacher's Army unit, Frances Neagley is now a PI, who uncovers a link to her own past when she's sent to investigate a string of sniper kills.
A riveting crime-thriller with a twist, the tension is so well-managed that you only realise you've been holding your breath when you start to feel faint, and other distractions like eating, drinking etc fade out of your mind as unimportant - Dan Ames' Kill Zone is that unputdownable.

Steven Daniels got killed by some assassin. But the assassin left something behind...the casing bearing the name of Neagley engraved on it.
Thank goodness Neagley had a lot of proof she was not involved at all. She did not even know victim.
But who then did the assassination?
Then the second assassination happened.
Kill Zone by author Dan Ames is another fascinating thriller that immerses the reader totally in the mystery of these killings. I can hardly wait to get ahold of the next Neagley thriller.
Enjoy,!

"Dead before the sound arrived."

Frances Neagley, once from the Jack Reacher team, now head of an elite private investigator firm, is drawn into a murder case after a wealthy and well connected man is shot dead by a long distance sniper. Although not knowing the victim nor having anything previously to link the two of them, for some reason her name is left on the shell of the bullet which killed him. Another exciting novella by Dan Ames, which keeps the reader intrigued and guessing. As always, there is much more content than would seem possible for it's length.

It sure seems suspicious when a rifle casing turns up with Neagley's name on it. Thank goodness she has an air tight alibi for the time of the murder. But why would someone carve her name into the casing? And it's even more of a mystery when she determines she's never met or had contact with the dead guy.

Even though there isn't much to go on, that won't stop Neagley from going to DC and investigating and calling in some help from Dave O'Donnell. The closer she gets to answers though, the more dangerous it is. Until she finds the surprising answers.

The moral of the story is - don’t get Neagley against you. Two people are found shot dead. When the police search the scene, they find a bullet casing with NEAGLEY scratched into it. Someone wants Neagley involved in the investigation. The police of course originally take on the case and work to find the shooter, and the reason for the killings, but it takes Neagley to actually take the extra step and find both. Neagley is a great character to follow and you can be sure that once you begin the book you don’t put it down until the end. I look forward to the next.

This was the first Neagley book that almost felt like a novel coming in at 212 pages which if anyone knows this series that’s one of the longest books in the series. As with the other books in this series Frances Neagley is someone you definitely don’t want to upset. Lots of action in this book. I won’t give any plot details as I hate spoilers. This is another great addition to the series. Don’t hesitate grab it today.

Mr. Ames writes a great Neagley story!

This book takes a long to find a resolution for the reader! Neagley figure s it out about the same time as the reader! This is a very convoluted mystery that Neagley has to work through from her past to solve the current problem! She is very driven to finish the the investigation she began years ago and make the guilty people pay for the massacre they caused!

I aways look forward to this author's books. The mystery and the question of why was the casing had the name
neagley carved on it. She didn't know or have any connection to the first man killed.
She heads to Washington DC and visits his wife. Unbeknown to the wife, Neagley got her first clue.
They can be read as as a stand alone. I recommend this book as well as the many others he has written.

Short & Sweet

Excellent read. Not as long as most books in this genre but gets into the meat of the story quickly and to the point. Could be Reacher’s partner if either one would want that…..but, they don’t.
Finished the first thee one after another and will read them all in short order

Neagley Delivers Again

This book starts similarly to a Jack Reacher one where Neagley’s name is found at a crime scene and it’s not clear why. But there’s some interesting twists and the story really moves along. I’m always sad when these stories are over, I wish they were longer!

cover up

Absolutely one of the best I have ever read as it kept me guessing who could have been the sniper.
Looking forward to reading more involving Neagley.
