Getting this little Powerpuff Girls ARC felt like opening a tiny time capsule.
It’s a small book, simple and clearly aimed at young readers, so there isn’t much to analyze in terms of plot or depth. But honestly? That’s not the point.
I grew up watching The Powerpuff Girls on Cartoon Network, back when you had to wait for episodes to air. No streaming. No rewinding. No “I’ll just watch one more.” You waited. You were excited. And when the theme song started, it felt like an event. There was something magical about that rhythm, the anticipation, the routine, the comfort.
Reading this book brought all of that back. The colors, the energy, the chaotic sweetness of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. The show wasn’t just fun; it was powerful. It gave little girls heroes who were small but unstoppable. They were emotional, dramatic, kind, fierce... and they saved the world before bedtime. That mattered.
Even in this simple children’s format, that spirit is still there. And it reminded me why the show meant so much.
The Powerpuff Girls are back and complete baddies. They’ve got style, they’ve got grace, they will punch you in the face. Don’t mess with these girls.
I’ve always been a fan of the Powerpuffs and this brought back a lot of memories. Ones that were trapped in the back of my mind. Makes me miss those years.
This brings you right back to that time of when they first arrived on the scene. They fight crime and take naps. It’s all in a days work. I really enjoyed this. It was like getting wrapped up in a warm blanket and I need more of these stories.
I was over the moon when I saw this title on NetGalley. As a Powerpuff Girls fan, I just knew I had to give this adorable book a go!
Aww, this was such a sweet and powerful story of love, sisterhood and friendship. Three chapters with lovely illustrations and the girls having some sleepover fun and overcoming an unexpected attack.
I highly recommend reading this short but meaningful read to all ages, especially if you are a Powerpuff Girls fan! ♡
This thing made me realise how short and underwhelming cartoon episode might be. The animation make it so much better and actually engaging. Baby me would have hated book like this.
I stumbled across an ARC of Sleepover Sneak Attack on NetGalley & couldn’t resist picking it up. Even though it’s geared toward ages 5–7, there’s something undeniably charming about revisiting that early-reader magic — & this title truly rises to the occasion.
For its intended audience, the story structure is spot on. It presents a clear beginning, a relatable conflict, & a satisfying resolution in a way that feels accessible without being overly simplistic. The “sneak attack” element adds just enough playful tension to keep young readers engaged, while still maintaining a tone that’s fun rather than overwhelming.
Reading it honestly gave me flashes of childhood cartoon energy — very much like watching The Powerpuff Girls back in the day. That show was a staple of my childhood, & you still can’t tell me I’m not Bubbles at heart. There’s that same sweet-but-spunky vibe here that makes the story feel playful & spirited.
What really stood out to me is how interactive the book feels. The how-to-draw segment at the end is a fantastic addition — a creative bonus that extends the experience beyond the final page. It encourages kids to participate rather than just observe, which is such a wonderful way to reinforce engagement.
I also appreciated the comprehension-style questions included at the close, reminiscent of an Accelerated Reader format. It’s a thoughtful touch that helps caregivers & educators gauge understanding while prompting discussion.
Overall, Sleepover Sneak Attack delivers exactly what it promises for its age group: a simple yet structured story, interactive elements, & plenty of charm. For young readers just building confidence — & for nostalgic readers who still channel their inner Bubbles — this one feels like a win.

The beloved Powerpuff Girls are back and ready to take on any villain or save the world...as long as they're done before bedtime.
For anyone who enjoyed the Powerpuff Girls as a kid, this is a nostalgic blast to the past. The girls are introduced quickly in the beginning and head into a short adventure as they put on a sleepover for the girls in their class. Of course, the ever-troublesome Princess is invited, which guarantees things will get out of control.
This is a short tale for those readers out there, who know their words but are in need of some practice. The font is large as is the spacing and the word amount on each page isn't overwhelming. There are illustrations throughout, which break things up and help readers along with the tale. There's also a glossary at the end to showcase the more difficult words, and there are a few questions for reading comprehension. So, this can be used with the purpose of working on reading abilities.
The tale itself holds all of the wonderful things which make the Powerpuff Girls as spunky, adorable, and heroic as ever. The sleepover setting offers a familiar setting, which is easy to sink into. The entire thing is very age appropriate and offers the fun of a superhero adventure...Powerpuff Girl style. My only hesitation lies in the plot as it makes much more sense for someone who already knows the Powerpuff Girls. Anyone who is diving into this world for the first time might find a couple moments confusing. Otherwise, it's a fun read with tons of power, and I'll be keeping an eye on this series since there are so many possibilities for adventures to come.
The Powerpuff Girls are having a sleepover and unfortunately they have to invite Princess Morbucks, their snooty classmate who wants to be a Powerpuff Girl. The girls lay down the law that she has to behave as soon as the party starts, but, Princess being Princess has a plan for the girls once they fall asleep! Will the girls be able to stop her?
No self-respecting Millennial wouldn't jump at the chance to read a Powerpuff girls book! This was a really quick chapter book based off of an episode of the original show that would be perfect for parents to read to younger kiddos or for the older kiddos who can read to read on their own but may not be ready for longer chapter books yet. It's also got a really fun drawing tuturial at the back to learn how to draw Princess and Buttercup, which I may even take a crack at! There's also a glossary at the back, which I really wish books had these when my kids were younger, and some Think About It questions. I'm not going to lie these I may actually skip some of them, one asks to describe Princess and well I mean she's a jerk so maybe not that one. The other talks about what would you bring to a sleepover and that's a thing that not all kids are going to do for a ton of reasons, so I'd probably skip that as well unless I knew the child I was reading it with. The rest are actually great questions that pertain both to the book and the kiddo's world.
As always thanks to NetGalley and Capstone for the eArc!
The story in this issue of The Adventures of the Powerpuff Girls is sweet and simple and feels exactly like a shorter version of an episode of The Powerpuff Girls in the way it follows the typical one-villain-episode format in the setting of a sleepover. I like how kind and wholesome the ending is and how well the characters of the three main heroines were captured.
The illustrations are colorful and bubbly and the dynamic layout was done very well, leaving almost no page without colour. I also enjoyed the highlighted sound effects and chapter titles, making the reading experience more exciting. One thing to note is that I expected this to be a comic (simply by how it was listed) but it’s actually a chapter book for young readers.
There are also a few extras at the end of the book - a drawing tutorial, a glossary and questions to discuss the story. I feel like the questions offer a great option to further engage with the story, especially if young readers are being read to or read with together, and the glossary as such is a nice idea, though I do wonder on what basis the words listed were picked.
Overall, this was a sweet road down memory lane for me and I love that (new) young readers are given a chance to fall in love with the Powerpuff Girls as well.
Thank you to Capstone and NetGalley for providing me a free advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you so much to Capstone and Netgalley for the advance review copy! As always, all opinions shared here are 100% my own.
What a blast from the past! The moment I saw the cover, I knew I had to give the book a read to see if I can share with my nephews and nieces. The Power Puff Girls are back!
The book is an excellent short, but action-packed, story about the Power Puff Girls hosting a sleepover for all the girls in their class, including one of the series villains, Princess. What better way to have revenge on your rivals than during a sleepover? I believe this was an episode in the show as I did find myself remembering bits and pieces, but it translated very well in book form.
The writing is easy to understand for a younger audience but still exciting to keep them going. And the illustrations, oh the illustrations, they are beautiful. Vibrant, animated and beautiful that make you feel as if you're watching an episode from the classic series.
If you're looking for a cozy yet action-packed short read for your young reader, I'd give this a try. You might want to sneak a read yourself if you're a millennial parent. I know I did.
I love how there’s this great series of easy-to-read chapter books of one of my favorite tv shows.
The cover and the illustrations inside, are just perfect! Colorful and cute, like our 3 little heroes!
I really enjoyed the story and the illustrations.
In this little adventure, our 3 sisters: fearless leader Blossom, sweet Bubbles and tough Buttercup, are having a sleepover. But they had to invite their whole class so that includes rich and spoiled Princess Morbucks. Princess wanted to be a Powerpuff Girl too but our 3 little heroes didn’t let her and as she always gets what she wants, this made her become a villain.
The sleepover starts off great!! There’s a pillow fight, snacks and as requested by Princess, storytime by Blossom. All the girls, except Princess, fall asleep. Exactly what Princess intended! With her Dream Machine 500, she can enter dreams and in them, she is stronger than ever! And she has a few tricks up her sleeve. But money can’t buy everything, like a strong sisterly bond!
This had the best ending, so unexpectedly kind. I loved everything about this little book! It had fun, action and some great life lessons. And it isn’t over when the story ends. There’s some drawing fun, a glossary and some great questions to think about, included.
Thank you NetGalley, for providing me with this arc, in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you so much to Capstone/ Picture Window Books and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.
I’ve always been a huge fan of The Powerpuff Girls, they were always so much fun. The story of 3 sisters made with so much goodness inside them, and then they go and save their community superhero style from all the bad guys that lurk around. They’ve just always been so much fun, so as soon as I saw this I knew I’d want to read it.
I loved that this book showed them being normal girls having a sleepover with all their school friends, wanting to have a fun typical sleepover. But Princess Morbuck had very different ideas, she was going to finally become a Powerpuff Girl. It was so funny how she had this new device she thought for sure would work against them, but their bond is much too strong.
It was so much fun, a really great read, with stunning illustrations that are literally just like the tv show. It had a great villain with a really funny plot to take over. The three sisters incredibly close connection and obviously had the fun of a friend’s sleepover. It’s a perfect early reader for those that are fans already of The Powerpuff Girls already or those that want an easy and fun superhero style book. Either way it’s so much fun and will be really enjoyed by so many readers.
It is a delightful and action-packed read that perfectly captures the charm and energy of the beloved trio—Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup. I remembered watching this cartoon on 'Cartoon Network' Channel with my younger sister. What starts here in as a fun, lighthearted sleepover quickly turns into an exciting mission, reminding readers that even superheroes deserve a little fun… until duty calls!😁
The story does a great job of balancing friendship, humor and adventure. Each character’s personality shines through—Blossom’s leadership, Bubbles’ cuteness and sweetness, and Buttercup’s boldness—making it feel true to the original spirit of the Powerpuff Girls. Even though it is a short read in space of 3 chapters, the flow keeps young readers engaged, with just the right amount of fun and action.
While the plot is entertaining, it is fairly straightforward and may feel a bit predictable for older readers, specially, like me who watched them a lot in their childhood. A little more elongated depth or a twist could have elevated the story further.
Overall, it’s a fun and engaging read for younger fans, mainly girl children, delivering a sweet mix of sleepover vibes and superhero excitement.
Miss Keane's class has been invited to a sleepover at the Powerpuff Girl's house. They even invited Princess Morbucks, because the Professor said they had to invite everyone.
Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup enjoyed a night of pillow fights, tasty snacks and lots of laughter. When they all fall asleep Princess Morbucks brings out her weapon, the Dream Machine. If she can't be a Powerpuff Girl in the real world, she will become one in their dreams.
Princess Morbucks fights The PPGs in their dreams and attacks them with sticky and super heavy money. She will force them to make her a PPG against their will. When the girls realize they are in a dream, they join forces and together break the machine.
As a long time Powerpuff Girls fan, this book was too cute and adorable to miss. The illustrations are vivid and colorful. The central theme is age appropriate and educational. The girls always work better together and their sisterhood is their power. I liked that the end of the book had a how to draw manual, glossary and questions. The PPGs are my favorite super heroines!
Thank you Netgalley and Capstone/Picture Window Books for this eARC. All opinions are entirely my own.
Thank you to Capstone for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!
•Plot: Sleepover Sneak Attack is a short story on PowerPuff Girls, inviting Princess Morbucks over for a slumber party. •What I liked: If you’re new to Powerpuff Girls, the first few pages give an overview of them with an illustration and label them. So, you know who is who. Although it is told in story format, some words are emphasized, making it more entertaining to read. •What I didn't expect: I thought this was going to be a comic, because it was listed in the comics section, but it’s not. •Themes / Ideas: Sibling protection & money can’t buy happiness. •Who I’d recommend it to: Young readers or fans of the Powerpuff Girls.
Overall/Thoughts: Great for young readers that is familiar or brand new to the Powerpuff Girls It’s a book with supporting images throughout.
Obviously, this is a five star read for me! It was nostalgic, but also thoroughly educational for the appropriate age group. It has a glossary in the back with some harder words for the demographic of ages 5-7. This book also highlighted onomatopoeias throughout with a fun font, helping them stick off the page. It contains a drawing tutorial and questions to ask after reading, which can help kids stay engaged the whole time.
Sleepover Sneak Attack follows the Powerpuff Girls and their sleepover, where they have to invite everyone from their class, including Princess Morbucks, who is a villain. She infiltrates their dreams, trying to become a Powerpuff Girl in real life. The real Powerpuff Girls stop her in their dreams. They make sure she stays the night, though, so she can have the Professor’s famous pancakes in the morning!
Consumable for kids and the kids at heart. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this cutest book.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Overall, this was a fun, engaging read and a total nostalgia hit.
The book is short and easy to read, with illustrations throughout. I’ll admit, there were more words than I initially expected—I went in thinking this would be a mostly wordless comic—but there are enough visuals to keep the youngest readers engaged.
The plot centers on a sleepover and one particularly mischievous guest. While the girls face off against Princess in classic Powerpuff fashion, the heart of the story is their sisterly bond. Blossom’s leadership, Bubbles’ heart, and Buttercup’s toughness each shine, but the message is clear: they may be superheroes individually, but they’re strongest together.
Thank you NetGalley, Kiara Valdez, Capstone, and Picture Window Books for the advanced reader copy. This review is voluntary and all opinions are my own.
Sleepover Sneak Attack is a short and sweet adventure of the iconic Powerpuff Girls written by Kiara Valdez and illustrated by Patricio Oliver. This nostalgic and charming tale is told in three parts, with almost every page featuring striking illustrations to bring the story to life. The book's target audience is for young children so it contains some additional resources at the end of the story: step-by-step instructions for how to draw Buttercup and Princess Morbucks, a glossary with pronunciation and definitions, and five questions to prompt beginner readers to engage with the text and tie some of the themes to their own lives. I really enjoyed this blast from the past!
Thank you to NetGalley, Kiara Valdez, Patricio Oliver, and Capstone for a digital copy of this ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
What better time to dive into nostalgia with this early chapter book about The Powerpuff Girls having a sleepover than a night when you really wish you were asleep but feel wide awake? Trust me when I say this book will not put you to sleep! Despite its brevity, this book excitingly hits all of the story elements, highlights onomatopoeia, and uses sentence structure that is clear for young readers to comprehend. The art is mixed in throughout the book in a way that enhances the story and does not distract from the text. At the end, I liked the inclusion of the how-to-draw pages, glossary for some of the potentially unknown vocabulary, and discussion questions. This is a fun read for millennials to share with the kids in their lives and for new fans to be introduced to The Powerpuff Girls. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!
Super cute story! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. I chose to read this because I have sort of a nostalgic affection for these characters. My baby brother used to watch them all the time when he was very little. Anyway, the characters are just as cute as ever I feel they are consistent with my memory. The plot is fairly predictable, as is the villain, and there were no surprises. The illustrations were great, but it did irk me a little bit that the other girls that were supposedly at the sleepover party were not included in the illustrations. If that had not confused me I would have given a higher rating (a whole group of girls was supposed to have been invited in to the house but we never see them).
Either way, if I had a little girl I would read this to her! It would be fun to do with the voices.
Sleepover Sneak Attack is about the Powerpuff Girls having a sleepover with their whole class, which includes rude, rich girl Princess Morbucks. Princess starts trouble when she uses a device to enter each girl's dream. Can they fight back? This is a short story aimed at young readers, but I loved the nostalgia, color scheme, themes of friendship, forgiveness, and sisterhood. I smiled the whole time I read it. There's a glossary at the end so readers can learn some of the bigger words that are used and some discussion questions are included. I would recommend this to anyone who loves the Powerpuff Girls, reading and happiness. I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
This one was a blast from the past. I grew up watching PPG, and I’m still very fond of the series (pretty sure I’ve got some DVDs lying around somewhere, still). This book looks incredible, and I’m sure the finished physical copy would be an absolute pleasure to behold. Its formatting and style reminded me of so many children’s novels I used to have!
The pacing is very quick, and I love the short phrases. It is definitely a great material to incentivise young kiddos to start reading more, and introducing them to text-heavier content. The added glossary at the end, with the inclusion of the pronunciation of the words, was a very sweet touch, and very useful! I recommend this heavily to kids transitioning to reading more and becoming more used to longer stories.
My 9-yo daughter, who enjoys watching the old Powerpuff Girls cartoons, helped me review this book. In short, she loved it and gave it 5 stars! She said it was filled with teamwork and girl power. To me, any book that gets her to read is an excellent book. I particularly liked that it has a glossary at the end. Now, I think the writing could be better. I feel this is the kind of book that kids will read once and probably never look at again. It's recommended for ages 5-7, so I would say it's a book for kids to read on their own. It has the same lack of vocabulary and flow typical of books meant for learning to read and not for story time.
Thank you, Netgalley, for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
As someone who grew up watching The Powerpuff Girls, this felt like pure nostalgia in book form. It instantly took me back to those mornings before school, sitting in front of the TV watching Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. The story itself is super fun and chaotic in the best way, with a sleepover turning into a whole dream-invading adventure (very on-brand for PPG honestly). It really captured the energy and personality of the girls. The illustrations were bright, colorful, and so cute, which made it even more enjoyable.
Overall, this was such a fun, comforting read, and I would 100% pick up more books in this series.
Thank you to NetGalley, Capstone and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely love the nostalgia that this story and the amazing illustrations made me feel! The Powerpuff Girls hold a very special place in my millennial heart, and the author and illustrator have truly done this franchise justice. It really felt like I was watching an episode of this classic favorite on Cartoon Network. Thank you to the creative team, Capstone | Picture Window Books, and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read an early copy of ‘Sleepover Sneak Attack’ (Book 1 of Adventures of the Powerpuff Girls); I highly recommend this book for nostalgic adults and little alike!
The Powerpuff Girls is one of classics from early Cartoon Network so I was thrilled to read this chapter book!
It was a super cute story! I found it to be condensed really well from an episode into an easy, fun read. Not only was the story well done but there were plenty of illustrations to keep it engaging.
I was also surprised that there were still pages left after I read the book. They were great! There is a how-to draw portion in the back, a glossary for some terms in the book as well as questions to ask after the story is finished.
The only critique I have is having the glossary but not having the words in bold in the actual story pages. Overall 5/5!
Honestly, what's not to love here? The Powerpuff Girls are sure their Super Special Sleepover is going to be great -- even though rich, spoiled Princess is staying the night too. When she whips out her new Dream Machine 500, intent on showing the girls that she, too, has the strength to be a Powerpuff Girl, all chaos ensues! But (as we know they always will) our favorite gals kick butt and save the day in their dreams *and* real life. This is an engaging and fun read for all beginner readers.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for an honest review.
3.5 ⭐️s I loved the Powerpuff Girls as a kid so when I saw this on Netgalley, I immediately requested it for a palette cleanse although this is definitely meant for younger children. The art was spot on in relation to the original show which added to the sense of nostalgia I felt reading it. The story was short, sweet, funny, and had a message for a younger audience. I also love that at the end there is a ‘how to draw’ section as well as a reading guide to further discuss the book. I’ll definitely be recommending this to all the parents in my life. Thank you to Capstone and NetGalley for the ARC!
