I'm so happy to have been able to get a second book from the author of the last book I read and reviewed on here (please, do yourself a fair and go check it out!)! Sure, some characters are new and some are gone, time has passed and things have changed, but what a wonderful addition to any of us who are fans. :)

As she did in the last book, Rain Oxford managed to keep interactions between characters of completely different ages and places very believable, and the sense of humor remained for me to gain great amusement from.

And most of all (for me, anyway) - animals! Who doesn't love to have mythical creatures come into the works? Not only to know they are there, but to read about their behaviors, their feelings! I did not see that coming and I was thrilled. :)

Oxford writes my kind of heroes. They are smart, snarky, funny, and TRULY good people. She populates her stories with great characters and truly treacherous villains. This one could have had a little more menace (Dylan had gotten so powerful nobody poses much of a threat anymore and he is such a good guy even the psycho gods are easily won over) but it ended up being such a feel good read that I'm having trouble finding much to complain about. Don't pick this one up if you're in the mood for a dark turn.....

Great series!

This is a great series! I love the characters! They all fit in so well with each other! I find I can't put this book down, and now I want to get right into the next book. I recommend to fantasy lovers!

I have finished narrating this book and it is now available on Audible.com or Amazon.com. Good continuation of the first book with a nice cliffhanger at the end!

Rain Oxford takes the readers through her entire universe filled with multiple worlds and a vast variety of cultures/societies. There are portions of the story where the world is described so well that I felt as if I'd transported there.

Though the story all comes together in the end, the beginning through about 90% of it was discombobulated. The story is told from 4 different point of views and goes back and forth between those POVs within the chapters. If not for the narrator, Todd Menesses, I dont think I would have been able to follow. 🤗Fortunately, for audiobook listeners, he gives each character a distinct voice and brings their personalities to life. What I really appreciate is that the main character from this book (Dylan) and the main character from Rain's other series (Devin) have different voices. This makes it easy not to mix the stories up. Much much much appreciated as I've read a cross over book with both MCs.

This book walks a fine line of being great and being overwhelming. I actually had to rewind a chapter or two so I could digest what was happening. There are two different story lines happening with multiple characters jumping from world to world. Add in some time travel and three different magic types (edna magic, nominal magic, and God magic) then you almost hit half of what this book entails.

I love the complexity of the story, but this felt like two different books being read at the same time. Not just in the length but in the plots as well.

Dylan, Mordon, Edward and so on... all the characters are good guys. I mean pain stakingly everything they do is responsible and politically correct. Dylan has to teach his own God how to be compassionate 🤣. Not saying g good guys dont make for good reading , but do they have to be so unrelatable in their perfection? It makes them feel like fictional characters... if I'm constantly reminded they are fake then I cant feel as strongly for them. I've cried about alien-werewolves in other novels because they felt more real than these dudes.

This story also takes a darker turn than I expected and I'll have to read something more uplifting before going to the next.

3 Stars 🌟🌟🌟- Good Book. I like the overall concept and it was delivered well. Most common ranking for a book I enjoyed and look forward to the next.

At time of writing I'm actually already busy reading Book 4. Book 2 and 3 are so great that I couldn't stop a minute and write a review. I just needed to know what came next. It was with great difficulty that I pried myself away from book 4 to write this review. And to be honest, In my opinion that should say all you need to know.
In book 2 we follow our Earth Gardian and his new best friend. They end up coming into contact with Dylans old girlfriend and then things get rolling. It's a book packed full of action. If this would have been a physical book people would say "It's a real pageturner". Dylan has to fight mistrust and has to fight for friendships. There is a lot of emotion in the book, but not too emo, if you understand what I mean.
In any case, If you loved book 1 you will love this book and if I peaked your interest with this but you didn't read book 1 yet, You really should read book 1. I guess you could read it without. But it'll all make a lot more sense if you'd read them as they were supposed to be read.

Ultimately, this was just boring

I thought the first book was reasonably good, but slow and contained numerous typos. I only made it through the first half of this second book. I just didn't care anymore. Too many similar protagonist POV's. Eventually, if I hadn't read the POV header at the beginning of the chapter, I wouldn't have been able to tell them apart. They are all male, super powerful, well meaning, kind to strangers and children. Yawn. Some of their biggest challenges involve diapers. Yawn. They have little warning when danger strikes, yet they are saved by their own unwitting actions or by a little girl in a white dress. Huh? The danger is always short lived, always at the end of a chapter and they are inexplicably fine at the beginning of the next. Yawn. There are cute animals. Yawn. There are many, many typos. I read it through Kindle Unlimited. Glad I didn't pay for it.

This is really a good read. It answers questions from the first book (The Guardian's Grimoire). Lots of adventure, magic, and monsters. Surprising things going on every time the characters turn around. Definitely a book you don't want to put down.
The only problem with this book is that it leaves you wanting more! I've heard the third book is due out soon, and that's a good thing!

Audible listener here.

This book has performed a 180 vs the first which was awesome; and in my opinion it jumped the shark, it turned into Daddy daycare. Every time a kid gets tossed into the mix with a Sci-fi or Fantasy book it turns into a total mess.

The Narrator Todd Menesses did a awesome job like he always does in the Audible verse.

I still like this story. What I like is that the author doesn't dwell too long on every incident. If someone is more powerful then that person will succeed. By letting him do so, the story progresses better. What could be different is the use of repetition, that can get a bit annoying at the end.
Will still listen to the others when they are available:)

A convoluted turn off until the end

Maybe I'm opposed to time travel in books or something, because I really disliked that part of it. I didn't enjoy the book until the last 15-20%, thought I was done with the series until then.
