This is Joshua's story and I absolutely love him. He is an intelligent, talented and confident man, that meets his lady as he's investigating her for possible treason. This storyline was really good, very little repetitive gibberish.
This book was excellently written, good plot, great heroine and hero. However, I found author’s voice too cold and her storytelling style failed to stir in me any emotions. HERO is a Warrior, strong, cool-headed, determined, covertly investigating a woman who is suspect of selling highly classified information to terrorists. He falls passionately in love with her despite his suspicions and just as he marries her to protect her, fate intervenes and takes him away from her. Hmmmm..... I have always been a fan of Rochelle Alers and although they are romance novels, I have felt that she did a great job of creating a great story with some passion tossed in. This story line was equally amazing but there was a bit too much romance and "how could I fall for him" scenarios. I would have loved to have seen the storyline developed more and wish that the pages help more of the great mystery versus love making.
Having read ,"The Hideaway Legacy" series from #8 to # 16 first it is stimulating to read books "1 to 7. It is powerful to read about the characters mentioned in the later books. I appreciate this author's writing style and I have been hooked since reading, " A Younger Man" in September 2020.
A surprising leading lady enters with Vanessa starting center stage. Having been introduced to Joshua Kirkland in book one, it was an interesting tale to see that his love match would be the firm, business accountant, electric woman, Vanessa. After so much impacting there journey it's crazy to think how it all unfolded. Faced with potential charges of government espionage. Joshua had to draw the line between country loyalty and the love of Vanessa. This story let us revisit the Cole's, where Joshua is lead to resolve his feelings with Sammy. In order to truly be free to love unconditionally. With so much taking place you knew that something that was so forbidden on the surface was just what Joshua and Vanessa needed.
I enjoyed this writing, but of course my overall view stems from the way the story ends... There were many incidents in this story that kept me on edge but I grew frustrated at times with the lead female character because of her attitude towards the lead male in the story.. Great story-line. Great narrator.
