"Fighting quietly for survival in a place no longer meant for living."

This is probably the most beautiful and heartbreaking book I've ever read. A collection of nine short stories about fictional people, going through very real events. This book brings to life the reality of humanitarian suffering in Gaza.

These are important stories. And yet, these are also works of art. Al-Bardawili is a talented writer with beautiful words and staggering skill. His author's voice is compassionate and wise as he weaves these tales together with masterful ability.

The stories are also focused on the Palestinian people. It's not about political conflict or a struggle between two sides. Rather, it focuses on humanising the people, the civilians, who bear the highest cost for conflict. This is story about a catastrophe that affects real human beings. These stories are essential for understanding this man-made humanitarian crisis, and for developing the empathy that our world is so severely lacking.

Amazing book that tells the complicated lives of people in Gaza and beautifully weaves vastly different peoples story into an intracate web united by grief. Must Read
