A soldier’s promise. A stubborn cowgirl unwilling to admit she needs help. An immediate and sizzling attraction they’re both determined to fight.

A bombing injury derails widower and former bull rider Dash Lange’s army career, forcing him home to rebuild his life again. When a friend asks him to check on his younger sister as well as his father and struggling ranch, Dash agrees, happy to have a purpose. But when he meets the sister, it all goes sideways, starting with the bro code.

Lainey Gallagher counts only on herself. Her family is fractured—by abandonment, addiction, and a brother deployed overseas. She’s holding her bookstore together through sheer will and hopes adding a coffee café will boost business. But her father’s horse ranch is a money suck, and when his newly trained rodeo stock horses are stolen, Lainey steps in to save the ranch, find the thief, and keep her dad sober.

A take-charge cowboy riding to the rescue is the last thing she wants. Or is it?

We are back in Service , where another former soldier finds love.
Widower Dash Lange’s life change when a bombing overseas not only injured him, but also caused the death of one of his teammates and good friend. This not only ended his career but also left him with PTSD and survivor’s guilt. Not only for the death of his friend, but also that of his deceased wife.
Luke, one of his former friends and main character of the previous book, has found love in Service as well as career as a photographer. His first exhibit of photographs has Dash coming to Service to support his buddy never expecting to find the woman who would change his life forever. Not realizing when he first met her that she was the sister of a teammate still overseas. The same sister his friend forbade him to get involved with.
Lainey Gallagher , owner of the local bookstore, has been her family’s “go to” person. She is the one that solves all their problems and supports them in every way possible. All while she is forgotten as a person with dreams and feelings. She is currently caring for her alcoholic father that has fallen off the wagon and the problems the family ranch is encountering.
As we watch Lainey and Dash develop a relationship, the bomb is ticking as not only is she the “forbidden” woman, but also the one that has a similarity to Dash’s past.
What happens when information of Dash’s past is suddenly revealed? Can the omission be the end of the blooming relationship?
What will Dash do when he’s finally found the person that gives him a reason to live, and provides him the peace he so much needs? Will Lainey forgive his omission?
This was another wonderful and touching story about starting over and second chances in life and love. One with well developed characters that are perfect with their imperfections.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, given to me by Tule Publishing via BookFunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
3.5 stars.
A reluctant, tortured hero and a heroine too focused on others fall for each other instantly in “Forbidden to the Texas Soldier”, by Julie Benson, a lovely story about learning to forgive yourself.
I liked watching Dash and Lainey trying to fight the attraction with all sorts of excuses and gradually, more or less sensibly, eroding the reasons for staying apart and admiting they’re much better together.
Plagued by guilt, Dash is a tortured hero who sees himself as damaged goods; that’s why he feels unworthy of Lainey.
I enjoyed both main characters’ personalities; for example, the fact Dash, a virile hero, also happens to blush sometimes humanizes him
I liked how they overcame the “buddy’s sister impediment” and Lainey’s determination with her brother.
Laine’s therapeutical effect on Dash’s issues was a bit unconvincing.
I felt the heroine was a bit too indulgent with her father and was too focused on others’ problems.
There’s some melodrama and lots of dialogue.

Wonderful story of love and spicy romance. Dash, a troubled soldier who survived an incident in Afghanistan and in Service for the wedding of one of his mates. When he meets Lainey, the sister of another of his mates, he is taken by her. Unfortunately, she is his mate’s sister and hands off. That does not stop the chemistry between them. Love is not always easy but for Dash and Lainey it does, until it does not.

Sometimes Promises are meant to be broken.

Lainey was supposed to be off limits because she was the sister of one of Dash’s army buddies. But once Dash met her, he couldn’t seem to get her off his mind. Lainey just wants Dash and she doesn’t care what her brother might think. But after they finally get together, a misunderstanding splits them up again. Dash is willing to do anything to get Lainey back. This book had me hooked from the first page and I sure wasn’t ready for it to be over. I really liked these characters didn’t want to say goodbye to them.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader’s copy of this book for an honest opinion.

Forbidden to the Texas Soldier by Julie Benson. A heart-warming addition to The Men of Service Texas series. I really enjoyed reading this storyline about Lainey and Dash. I liked reading more about past characters in the series and any new ones the author added. I hope we get to read more stories that have these characters in them.

When Dash goes to Service to meet up with his military buddy Luke he ends up meeting Lainey and they hit it off in a big way but her brother Cade had warned him not to mess with his sister LJ not knowing that the L stood for Lainey. This is just the beginning of their relationship and much more to the story.
