Having done her Civic Duty, our not-so-adventurous Adeline believes she is free to return to the quiet life of sorting books. As one would expect, however, fate has other designs for her. A tale of ghosts, murder, and an ancient, controversial manuscript, manages to reach Adeline's ears. A discovery like this could bring her great esteem! Unable to resist, Adeline goes against her better nature and sets out to retrieve the documents. She will brave terrifying tempests, superstitious towns, and a crazy conspiracy all intent on keeping what is held within those texts a secret. Even if it means turning Adeline into a ghost as well!
Right on the heels of Adeline's adventure with pirates, she gets sucked in (this time more of her own will) and sent on another adventure, dealing this time with an ancient manuscript and the potential of ghosts, which of course Adeline doesn't believe in...but the legend of the manuscript is all it takes to get her packing her bags once more. I liked seeing more of the character Went in this story, and we get to see a little more of this interesting fantasy world as well. Another quick read, but thoroughly enjoyable for adults and young readers alike.
