Borrowing My Best Friend’s Brother is a charming, heart-melting small-town romance filled with warmth, humor, and irresistible chemistry. Lillian A. Hayes brings Luke and his fake-dating arrangement to life with tender emotion, lovable family moments, and just the right touch of chaos (yes—the goat!). The slow-burn connection, cozy setting, and themes of healing and belonging make this a delightful, feel-good read that’s impossible not to root for.
Emma's home on summer break from her job as a school teacher, renting the cottage on my property, my sister's best friend. I'm Luke Anderson, single dad to Annie and a goat named Mabel who's always creating some kind of mayhem.
Before I know what's happening, it seems that everyone in Maple Hollow including my daughter is trying to match me up with Emma. But I've already loved and lost before and I don't know if I can take a chance again. And just when Emma thinks her teaching career may be over the future comes calling. Will they go their separate ways or will they have a HEA?
I love this quote from the book: “But pretending to keep things safe? That’s not living. That’s hiding.”
I love this story! This is a clean, slow burn romance and a quick, fun read! I love all the characters, especially the goat, Mabel (She steals the show)! 🐐 I totally recommend this book!!
OH. MY. GOODNESS! This book had me laughing, then crying, then sighing with contentment. Lillian A. Hayes has definitely made it onto my "if she writes it, then I'm gonna read it" list. Absolutely a super cute short story with the power to gut you emotionally (ya know, no big deal) Loved Annie and her wise beyond her years outlook and unabashed meddling.
"What if I'm not enough for him?" "You are. You always were"
This book was short and sweet and to the point. I absolutely loved Emma and Luke, but Annie stole my heart. I need more about their story and their relationship.
