About the author!

I was diagnosed with clinical depression after the loss of my mother, father and husband within three years of each other; all to cancer. 24/7 in-home care, coupled with the loss I felt, left its mark on my psyche.

Depression takes up a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big difference in my mood in real time.

To put things in perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn't open mail, talk on the phone, or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall. There didn't need to be a reason or trigger.

People ask me why I started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world into which other people with similar problems could escape. I wanted to share the one place that had helped me for many years.

I have always said that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true for every writer out there. Please don't ever let anyone tell you different.

I read books as well as write them and have visited the worlds many different authors have created. Those worlds not only make me feel better, but give me the strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who writes - I want them to know they are making a difference.

Thank you for reading and writing.

“The Frostica are ice faeries. They live in extreme cold and enjoy ice and snow. Standing about two feet tall, you might find them unusual looking to say the least. Their bodies appear humanoid, but their faces are more animal like. If they want to communicate, the Frostica will use our language fluently. Their bite is deadly. After the initial penetration of the skin, fangs extend from their jaw, depositing a venom directly into the bloodstream of their victim. The bite effectively sends frostbite throughout the body, resulting in death.”

Frost Bitten is the third book in The Portal Prophecies by C.A King. As this is part of a series, I really recommend that you read all the books in sequence, to be able to fully appreciate the story.
We begin this story where book two left off. Willow and her friends have returned and are under scrutiny from all the magical inhabitants in the main world. It seems like everything and everyone is going against them; the Directors, the Mayor, and even the journalist Keith Quidnunk- who they have never even met.
Where book two a Halloween aspect to it, this one has a Christmas/Santa theme. The story starts when they get a request for help, which they can’t ignore. This leads them to yet another world, with a different prophecy to unravel- and where enemies they have to outwit and defeat, in order to succeed. There seems to be constant danger to contend with.
As they decipher each new prophecy they get better and more confident. But we also see the emotional toll that it’s taking on Willow. The group also seems to be more conflicted and at odds with each other, in this story.
I have to say that this is my favourite book in the series, so far. I feel Ms. King is really settling into the series and the direction she wants it to go. She has really hit her stride and it shows in her writing and the story.
Again, this story is darker than the previous two. There were times I really worried about Willow, at moments through the story she really seemed to have everything going against her and had little chance of succeeding.
It was action packed and intense, and the fast pace of the story reflected that.
This series is becoming more fascinating with each new instalment. The next book is set to be even better again.
I really recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a great YA fantasy/paranormal adventure.

Thank you Ms. King!

Frost Bitten is the strongest of the Portal Prophecies series to this point, because it is the most intense and action-packed entry in the series so far. The stakes are higher, the emotional beats resonate more, and for the first time, a deep sense of foreboding hangs over everything.

Whereas the second book in the series focused on Halloween, Frost Bitten has a Christmas-y feel to it -- quite literally so. It's a much-needed does of levity and lightheartedness, because much of this book is darker than the previous two entries. The depth of King Cornelius' depravity is on full display, and for the first time, things truly seem... not hopeless, necessarily, but this is the first time I've truly feared for Willow's safety.

To say nothing of her emotional state. The events of Frost Bitten threaten to break her unlike anything else to this point, and that emotional depth serves both her character and the overall narrative well.

Few of the issues evident in the first two books are in this one; C.A. King's growth as a storyteller is on full display in Frost Bitten, and the result is a fantastic, intense, easy-to-read addition to what has already been a fascinating series.

Business is definitely picking up here.

Book 3 of the Portal Prophecies series does much to further develop the large cast of characters while also adding a few new folks based on the changing environment that the books take place in. The main plot for this book centred around the fact that after operating on their own during the first two books, the fairly young cast now has adults trying to decide what is best for them and doubting anything the younger ones say. In addition, we have another one of the prophecies come into play, that actually picks up on the surprising conclusion to book two.

There was quite a bit of humour especially in relation to the prophecy as it brings Santa Claus into the mix and we learn about another race of creatures. Just as we saw a bit of in book two, we get a slight blurring of the lines as far as how awful the perceived enemy of the series is with them having to join forces. We also have past allies starting to act increasingly less like allies and the groundwork for book four being laid.

As with the previous books in the series, the book is about growing up and the challenges each person faces along the way.

Frost Bitten is Book Three in The Portal Prophecies Series. None of the books are standalone as each book continues on from where the previous books finish. Each book is based on a different prophecy and the entire series, delves deep into the understanding of magic and self-discovery, all the while questioning the right versus wrong equation on personal levels.
Readers will find some new explanations for old tales, myths, legends, folk lore and unusual phenomena that could just make them question the validity of stories we all have grown up with.
Although Willow and her friends have survived Halloween, they find themselves under the watchful eyes of others. Everywhere they turn it seems that everyone seems to be against them. They are on a new mission to aid Lance in recovering his sister, Sissy. As they find new portals other worlds open up with new problems and new discoveries. The prophecies leave more questions than answers.
Frost Bitten has a Christmas / Winter Wonderland theme running through it. The problem is that not only is Sissy missing but Santa is missing too! What will happen to Christmas if they can’t find him? As Willow becomes more mature and knowledgeable about the worlds surrounding her she feels more and more alone. Her emotions are on a rollercoaster ride: sometimes she is way up high and then she comes crashing down. Making her feel confused are the mixture of emotions she feels between William, Mike and Lance who each feel and act like they have some kind of claim on her. She begins to realise she has to decide who it is she loves and wants a romantic relationship with. The problem is how does she decide or choose? How can she tell her emotions apart when she’s been alone all her life with no examples of love or friendship to guide her? Will they ever stop warring with each other for her?
Besides finding Santa and saving Christmas, Willow also needs to find out who the ‘secret’ journalist is and why they have been writing false reports and accusing Willow and her team of being up to no good. Due to this the residents in the city who should have been living an easier life after the events of Halloween are uneasy and relationships are strained. Can she and her team find out who the journalist is and why they are doing this to them? Can they save themselves? What will the next prophecy unfold?
Frost Bitten is just as action packed and enthralling as the previous two books. The characters are still developing and growing in skills and maturity. I really like the way C A King takes long established stories (like Santa) and injects her own creativity into them to embellish them, making you think of another aspect to them and making them fit into Willow’s world.
This book is again about Willow as a teenager finding herself and sorting through her own emotions as well as learning to distinguish between and cope with the emotions of others. The issues of trust, loyalty and commitment are also ever present, as well as the theme of everyone regardless of race, colour and beliefs must join together to prevent evil controlling the world. Amongst the dark moments there are also light-hearted moments which present humour and sarcasm plus a little romance. Frost Bitten did not disappoint and I cannot wait to move on to the next book in the series, Deadly Perceptions.

The Portal Prophecies: Frost Bitten by CA King is the third story in her The Portal Prophecies series. I would recommend that you read the previous two books as this one will pick up where book two left off in a way. This story is a continuation of Willow and her friends story about growing up and the challenges that their lives face on their journey. One of the things that I enjoy the most about this series is how the author has created a story plot that flows easily and keeps you engaged until the end. Like the other two books, this one is full of fantasy, action and teenage attitudes. You will enjoy how these characters continue to take you on a journey where they are searching for the prophecies. Find out what happens next to Willow and her friends.

This story picks up where book two left off where Willow and her friends find themselves back and under scurtiny of the magical inhabitants of the main world. It seems like everyone is against them, the directors, the mayor and the journalist that they have never met. What will happen when Lance asks Willow for her help? If she helps, will it put her in danger? What will happen to Willow and her friends as the explore the frozen lands? Will the avoid being sanctioned by the magical community? Will the save Christmas and Santa from destruction?

In this story the stakes seem to be higher for Willow and her friends. They find that instead of deciding things for themselves, there are adults added to this story that want to make those decisions for them. Willow and her friends kind of change a little bit in this story. This story is darker then the other two and has more of an emotional aspect to Willow. In book two it had a Halloween theme to it and this one has a Christmas theme. The characters are still strong but I think that with each prophecy they go through, they grow a little bit each time. But I think this is the first time that we see Willow on the emotional side verses the aggressive leader. The characters seem to be a little more at odds in this book then the previous two. But with the addition of adult characters, any thing could happen to them. Find out if Willow's safety is in jeopardy or will she come out on top.

This is my favorite book of this series by CA King so far. Each one of the books in this series keeps getting better and better. I can't wait to see what happens in the next books coming up for these characters. C.A currently lives in Ontario, Canada with her two sons, she was born and raised in Halton County. After losing her parents and husband, she turned to writing and after some soul searching it has become her passion. She was able to put her emotions on paper and started publishing her stories. You will enjoy how she created a story that will keep you reading until the end. You will need to see what happens to Willow and her friends. This story will keep you turning page after page just waiting to see what will happen on the next page. This story does have some moments that will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat just wanting to see what happens. I highly recommend this story as I know you will want to see what happens to Willow and her friends next.

The Portal Prophecies: Frost Bitten
By: C.A. King
5 out of 5 stars

The story The Portal Prophecies: Frost Bitten by C.A. King is a coming of age/fantasy book. This is the third book in The Portal Prophecies and it has Willow and her friends unraveling a new prophecy and in constant danger. It starts out with a request for help and leads to different worlds where they must battle enemies to survive. I really like Willow as she always thinks of others and their safety. Be sure to grab your coat and some warm clothing as this adventure partially takes place in a very cold world. Willow is also finding that her abilities are growing both in number and in strength. She is trying to understand all of the changes that are happening to her. This mission that the group is on will also lead them on a search for Santa as he has disappeared. Will Willow and her team be able to find Santa and save Christmas?

The other part of this story is the strange happenings that are beginning in a city that Willow and her friends have helped. While the residents were grateful for the help they received now there are questions being raised and accusations that are being thrown around. Put this together with a journalist that no one has seen who is writing about things that he should not know and you have the feeling that all is not well. Things have changed in this city and not for the better. Will Willow find out what is really going on and who this mysterious journalist is? This story has Willow making new friends and also asking for help from an unlikely source. From the very first book I fell in love with The Portal Prophecies and this book is an amazing addition to the series. The author has created a series of stories that will have you turning pages to find out what happens next. The characters are amazing and I love the attention to detail that is given about them. This book has quite a bit going on and a lot of changes are happening. It is highly recommended that you read this series in order as each book builds upon the last one. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

The last person that Willow and her friends thought would ever come and ask for their help did. Lance is in dire need to find his sister and has turned to the only ones he feels can help him.

Now that Willow and her friends have survived Halloween they find themselves under the watchful eyes of others with magical powers and creatures. Something is happening in the world but they are just not sure what and they don’t know who they can trust anymore. Everywhere they turn it seems that everyone seems to be against them. Whilst having to deal with the hostility they are on a new mission to aid Lance in recovering someone close to him, his sister, Sissy. As they find each new portal another world opens up with problems and new discoveries. Creatures that are more than they first seem, Guardians long lost, A missing Santa that threatens Christmas and friends that could be enemies. Can Willow and her friends find Santa and save Christmas? Will they find the magic of Christmas? The possibility of losing one of their own has Willow feeling the weight of the world on her shoulders and she is starting to feel more alone than ever. The ever present prophecies leave more questions than answers. Adults who think they know better than the young have many hidden agendas and challenges that seem relatively hard may be easier than meets the eye and vice versa.

Do Willow and her friends make more unlikely alliances or do they make more enemies? Can Willow escape and survive King Cornelius' wrath? Will betrayl be found? Who can they trust? Will evil finally catch up with them? Can they survive in order to save others? Will the magical world pose a threat and leave more than one fighting for their lives?

Frost Bitten is the third book in the Portal Prophecies series. It is action packed, more emotional and intense and stakes are definitely higher. I enjoy the different characters as they trek through each adventure. Again as with the other books in this series I recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading anything paranormal, supernatural and fantasy.

Frost Bitten, book number three in The Portal Prophecies series, is definitely my favorite so far. Author, C.A. King, picks up right where the previous book leaves off. I would highly suggest reading the other books before starting Frost Bitten. This series follows Willow and her friends as they come into their own and learn about the magic they each possess and they use their unique magic to help keep the worlds safe from any creatures that might harm other life forms. This young adult fantasy, is filled with new creatures. You even get to learn a little about Santa and his actual little works he employs.

This book picks up where book number two ends and it seems that everyone has turned against Willow and her friends. They are forced to enroll in a school meant to train each magical person in exactly what form of magic they have. I can’t wait to read more about what they learn at their schools in the next book. They all have learned so much about each of their powers that it will be amazing when they have proper schooling on how to harness their magic and focus on breaking through with new abilities. Willow has learned so many new things that she can do that she surprises herself and the reader daily.

Prince Lance asks Willow for help when King Cornelius turns his back on his youngest daughter. Willow and the others go with Lance to help rescue his sister all while keeping an eye out for any unknown motives the prince may have.

Willow is having a hard time deciding which man she is interested in when in the first book she had never had any reason to be interested in any boy. Now, she has three interests that she keeps going back and forth with. Which man will Willow choose? Will Santa be able to pull of Christmas? Will King Cornelius ever stop his grueling hunt for his lost family?

I give Portal Prophecies: Frost Bitten (book 3 in The Portal Prophecies series) by C.A. King 4 stars.
*This review may contain spoilers of the previous books in the series*

Willow and her friends thought everything was finally settling down. Their camp had good people and they were helping the peoples of the worlds, bringing kindness where there was once only war. Now Lance, a prince who is the son of an enemy comes asking for help. His sister has been left for dead by their mad father. While no one else wants to trust him, Willow trusts him, in fact has feelings for him she can’t explain. Not to mention that it is in her nature to help those who need it. This takes them to a world that is straight from make-believe. It turns out, there is more than one person missing.

At the same time, the town of magical beings, the place they felt safe, may not be safe after all. After being summoned for help, they realize they are quickly set up and no one believes they hold the powers they possess. Nor do they believe in the guardians. It is obvious someone has their own plans, plans that seem to go against everything they believe in. Not to mention there seems to be a spy hiding out here too.

Just who is the spy, and what do they want? And is there anyone left they can trust? Will they be able to rescue the people in trouble? And if they do, what will be the cost?

This is an enjoyable book in a good young adult series. While it is based in higher fantasy, there are definitely hints of a Harry Potter influences throughout the book. There is so much going on in the story that you will not want to book the book down. I think it is perfect for the young adult age group, but anyone of any age would also enjoy it.

Frost Bitten is the third book in the Portal Prophecies series by C.A. King. I was extremely excited to read the continuing adventures of Willow and her friends and this book did not disappoint. When we left off in the last book, Prince Lance was asking Willow for help in finding his sister, Sissy. This means also asking for the approval of William and Mike. Since all three men have their eyes on Willow, it makes for quite a show of manliness in the first part of the book, made all the more amusing because Willow had no clue that was why the guys were acting the way they had been. Willow has to make a decision but it could never be as simple as that.
Apart from the main story line, we spend some time with Jade in Pewterclaw. She was assigned to work with the mayor, Hilary, and had been witnessing a subtle change in her boss’s attitude towards the guardians. This could just be a politician trying to get re-elected to office and taking whatever stance will win her the most support, but I think Hilary had a much darker side that we haven’t seen yet and Jade is starting to uncover it bit by bit.
The journey to save Sissy coincides with another prophecy and like always this one can mean different things to different people. Usually the first situation the prophecy applies to is relatively straight forward but I am always surprised at how the author manages to incorporate seemingly unrelated things in the second half of the book into a new meaning. I always get a little excited when I uncover a bit that could fold into the prophecy.
The end of this book wasn’t as big of a cliffhanger as the past two have been and I’m a little thankful for that. However I am still extremely excited to read the next book.

Frostbitten is the third book in The Portal Prophecies series by C A King. I would definitely suggest reading the first two before this one and the ones that will follow as they truly are a wonderfully crafted tale of new worlds and creatures.

Frostbitten takes on a Christmas, Santa type theme and is a bit darker than the first two. The group are led into another world with a new prophecy to work out. The danger they face becomes more intense throughout and they become more experienced and learned in their roles, powers and place in everything.

Already established characters are explored further and new characters are introduced along the way. The story is gripping and very emotional as the weight of everything begins to show on everyone, especially Willow. The characters seem to grow with each book and you get the sense that all these trials are preparing them for something bigger. The writing inspires in the reader a genuine fear and concern for the characters as you are swept along on their journeys.

The issue is trust and loyalty are very apparent in this book and you find yourself wondering, as the reader, who is up to what and why.

This is a fantastic series full of action, fantasy and amazing world building. There are some moments of lightheartedness and humour and C A King has put her own little slant and uniqueness into some well established myths and creature which I love. The writing flows so well that it makes for an easy read even though there is a lot happening and to take in.

I cannot wait, once again, to read the next book in this series and to find out what happens to this group. I would highly recommend this book, along with the entire series, to anyone who is a fan of fantasy, supernatural types of stories.

The third book in the fabulous series of The Portal Prophecies is called Frost Bitten. Spoiler Alert, if you haven't read the previous books!!
In the end of the second book The Portal Prophecies Halloween Curse, the children of King Cornelius are trying to prove their loyalty to their father and the three sisters enter a winter wonderland and disappears. No one in the family except Lance seems to care and the King disowns her. Lance goes to the only person he knows who can help find his sister and she owes him a favor - Willow.
Of course this is a huge thing, with Lance walking right into their camp. What will they all decide to do? Will the others help? Or will they just let Willow go on her own to fore fill her favor to Lance who is supposed to be the enemy? Lines are beginning to blur all around. What can truly be trusted?
The Mayor and the writers of The Empowered are writing and saying things that could possibly endanger Willow more than people want to consider. Can her heart and head handle all of this going on? And to top it all off, the magical Council wants her and her friends to enroll in school! Who can think of school and work when things are starting to crash all around her?
In this grand adventure that Willow willing takes, she meets the real life Mr. and Mrs. Clause and gains them as allies. New allies are made along the way and pieces of the ever growing puzzle that is her life fall into place. Will she have time to consider the hearts of those she is attracted to along the way? Her feelings for William are ever growing, and the kisses that Lance steal her breathe away. Which way will she turn? Can she figure this all out in time?
I give this book a 5 star rating and look forward to the next books.

Frost Bitten is the third book in C.A. King’s The Portal Prophecies series. Following on from A Halloween’s Curse, Frost Bitten continues the adventures of our increasingly powerful heroine, Willow, with a wintery theme.

I actually burst out laughing when I realised that Willow and the gang were going to have to rescue Santa and save Christmas. The plot of every festive children’s movie ever. And yet, like with A Halloween’s Curse, it sort of worked. From the point in the first book where their home is destroyed, Willow and her people have been living in what is more-or-less our world and have discovered that the magical beings that come through the portals into our world have been explained away by the humans, or “terunji” as they are known to those from other worlds, as mythological creatures and fairy tales.

Something I admired in the earlier books which was particularly good in Frost Bitten is the way that King gives the prophecies multiple meanings. Any aspect of the prophecy might manifest itself in multiple ways in the story. This is cleverly done, and keeps the reader on the edge of their seats.

I give this book four out of five stars. You definitely want to start at the beginning with this series as the story develops throughout the books, although if you’re just looking for a festive fantasy to read on its own you will probably find that enough is explained for you to mostly understand what is happening. I’m really enjoying this series so far and would strongly recommend it to young adult readers (and older readers who enjoy ya fantasy) who are looking for a new series to get caught up in.

The Portal Prophecies: Frost Bitten is the third five star novel in the phenomenal series by C. A. King. I would highly recommend reading this series in order. Even though the individual quests attempted by Willow and her friends are different each time, the books in order give you more in depth descriptions and help to keep the reader on track with all the different creatures and things. At the start of this book, Willow learns just how naïve she can be. She is informed that three different men have feelings for her and are trying to gain her attention. She thought it was just her hormones running wild but to think those feelings could be reciprocated? Good thing she has her guardians with her. They are able to help her work through her feelings and then to make the decision that a decision doesn't have to be made immediately. Lance, the evil King’s son, is one such man. He has come for Willow’s help. He needs to get his sister back from a world he has never heard of before. When William tells him about the creatures that live in the world he is describing, Lance knows he needs help to bring his sister home. Willow agrees to help but knows it will take more than just her. That's when William and Willow head into the magical city. While there, Willow gets put on trial unexpectedly and they find out the council of the city does not believe anything about the evil King and the guardians. Willow is floored that everything she knows is about to be discounted as false. She then agrees that all the magical children at her camp will go to school next year. This is the only way to make the council believe in them.

Frost Bitten is the third book in the Portal Prophecies series and it is awesome. In this book Willow and her friends are under scrutiny from those who just don’t understand what they are trying to do. They are under attack as usual and it appears they don’t know who to trust, it looks as though their allies may be their enemies and their enemies just may be their allies. This is another fast-paced adventure of trying to right the wrongs of the past while discovering their own selves. Though this is a very serious story with treachery abound, there is the whimsy of Christmas as Santa Claus plays a major role in this tale.
I give this book four stars, I was left gnawing my finger nails wondering what was in store for this group and the worlds that they have yet to discover. I liked this story of looking deeper inside someone to find the real person instead of just judging based on tales and folklore. It is a very important lesson to learn and I think that it was done expertly. This series, and this book in particular, is about mistakes. We all make them, we learn from them and move on, but sometimes it is hard to admit that. This group of people as it grows learns from past mistakes and prejudices in a realistic way, meaning they address it and learn as opposed to sweeping it under the rug. This is also about love, the many kinds of love and how we are affected by it. It, for me, is a great story that I could not get enough of and I can’t wait to dive into the next installment.

The third book in the Portal Prophecies series Frost Bitten by C.A. King continues to exciting adventure of Willow and the guardians. As thrilling as the previous instalments this book has everything needed to keep you interested.

“When a blast of cold from the north does blow,
A single touch stops a river’s flow.
Enter lonely sprites, their queen reminiscing.
To save us it must be the chosen,
Her will is cold and heart is frozen.
Time passed by, while doors were locked,
Now the children’s joy has been blocked
Finally free, they seek to return the favour,
While you fight over who is braver.
Hidden in ice and snow and sleet,
Careful not to miss exactly what you seek.
Locked away in time, it happened before.
Heed this warning or it will happen once more.”

With a new prophecy to try and decipher Willow is feeling the pressure. With each passing day the camp seems to be under a new threat, with everyone relying on her to try and save them. When a plea for help comes from an unexpected source Willow finds herself thrown even deeper into the mystery surrounding The Portal Prophecies.
Her magic grows stronger each day, along with her knowledge. But it is all enough to rescue the Prince’s sister?

As well written and engaging as it predecessors this book is captivating. With new challenges to face and new friends, or perhaps enemies, to work with this book has it all. Gripping, edgy it is an absolute page turner from start to finish. A great follow up that still leaves you wanting more.

Frost Bitten is book three in the Portals Prophecies Series written by C.A. King. Frost Bitten take off where book two: A Halloweens Curse ends. One thing I really like about this series is the transition from book (and prophecy) to book.
You start out with book 1 and the farther you go the more you love the characters. Willow is as strong as any teen girl can be who has never had a physical (kissing, hugs, holding hands) relationship with anyone before. So being around Mike, William and Lance is proving to be difficult at times, even causing some altercations. In this prophecy the group is going out in a very risky situation to help out Prince Lance. You end up getting a better understanding of all of King Cornelius' kids and the way they stick together vs turning on each other, except Sissy. When she gets in trouble everyone writes her off except Lance. Can the group save Sissy before its too late?
While Willow is normally a pretty level headed person you see her come unraveled in this specific book. When threats and made and someone get injured Willow says some things to the guardians that she may regret.
When faced with yet another task and confusing prophecy can the group work together to save the people they need to.. Next is Sleeping Sands.
The reading order is listed, I suggest following it: Book I - A Keeper’s Destiny, Book II - A Halloween's Curse, Book III – Frost Bitten, Book IV - Sleeping Sands, Book V – Deadly Perceptions, Book VI – Finding Balance.

This is the 3rd book in the Portal prophecies series by C A King. Willow and her friends return to the main world and are quickly thrown into another adventure. This time their mission is to save who we know as Santa Clause and his Elves – the mysterious Frostica creatures – a kind of ice fairy. Can they rescue them in time to save Christmas? What about the mysterious Mayor and her plans for domination? Can they trust her as much as she tells them they can?
This book picks up where the last one left off and we are getting to know the characters a little better while finding more worlds through the portals. Willow is confused over developing feelings for several of her male companions, plus throwing Prince Lance back into the picture messes with her head even more. I enjoyed the new take on an old legend and thought it was really good imagination to create a whole reason for Santa’s existence and gave another dimension to the story. I loved the dream sequences and observing the teenagers developing their powers further with each of the prophesies that they solved. The description of the frosty land was imaginative and atmospheric. We could almost feel the cold and I definitely fancied trying a slide on that ice! There is more of a sense of danger and mistrust in this book and I found myself suspicious of several of the main characters. I am looking forward to reading the next instalment. Overall I’ve given this a 4 star review.

The Portal Prophecies: Frost Bitten is written by C.A. King. This is the third book in the series. These books are best read in order because I do not see them as standalone or out of order type of books. The story picks up where book two left off in the adventures of Willow and her friends. This time Willow and gang are up for a new challenge and learning more about themselves. The call has come and they are needing to help. This story is a Christmas/Winter theme. I enjoy how each new story is a new challenge and process for Willow and her gang. Also, that each story has a different season or theme involved.
Everyone is turning against Willow and her friends. Can they help Lance and survive King Cornelius' wrath all at once? As their world and experiences are expanding so are their obligations and chances for conflict. I enjoyed this story and am getting pulled in deeper to the world that C.A. King has created for Willow and all the different characters. Willow is fun, strong, and adventurous. She has grown since the first book and so have her friends. They are learning quickly but are also challenged at every turn. I enjoy that they have some tough decisions and must weigh the consequences of their actions.
This is not a series for people who want a simple, boring story. Each book takes the reader on a different adventure. I am glad that there are more books in this series and look forward to reading them.

Frost Bitten
By C.A. King
**5 Stars **

Frostbitten by C.A. King is the third installment in the portal prophecies series. It starts exactly where The Halloween Curse left off. King takes us into another exciting world during the winter months! I really enjoyed reading this winter wonderland tale!

Willow seems to have so many things going on at once in this book. First Prince Lance is calling in his favor, then it seems the directors are completely against them and everything they're doing, Santa is missing and on top of everything else Willow has three territorial lovesick Males fighting for her attention. Willow is faced with handling all of those situations while her magical talents are expanding and rapid rate. Can she and her friends save everyone and have Santa back in time before Christmas?

The New World we are visiting is a very cold place indeed! We meet new creatures called Frostica. They have been split into friendly and non friendly groups. The friendly ice fairies are Santa’s helpers! We also see some of our own endangered species in this magical world.

This action-packed story was fun to read and while it's set around Christmas time it's a great read any time of year! I love Willow’s character! I can relate to how people treat her, the ones who don't know her expect her to be weak and without knowledge. I love to watch her prove them wrong! I can't wait to read the next book of the series! Don't forget to follow C.A. King!

Frost Bitten by CA King
Stars: 4

Willow finds herself under the scrutiny of the magical beings of the main world. Everyone seems to be against them including the mayor, the directors, and the newspaper intern. Willow is concerned about being sanctioned by the magical community. Prince Lance asks for Willow and her friends help in locating his sister, Sissy. Willow owes him, but she will incur the wrath of King Cornelius. If that was not enough, Willow and her friends need to travel to the frozen lands to help save Santa Claus and Christmas.

This is the third book in a series of six stories. Each story is based off a different prophecy. This story has more intense action than the other prophecies series. Furthermore, this story has a bit of a darker feel to it than the other stories. Willow continues to learn more about herself and finds that the stakes are higher than ever before. This story has a Christmas theme to it, and they are literally trying to save Santa, which helps to lighten up the story. Willow is a great character and is very likable. She will need to continue to be strong to handle the diversity she encounters.

I am happy with what this story brought to us, and the information that it shares. I am excited to see where this series goes next, and how this series ends. This story flowed well and was engaging. This series is my favorite series from CA King. This is not a standalone story, but the series is interesting, and the characters are great!

I happily give Frost Bitten, the second book in the Portal Prophecies by C. A. King, five amazing storytelling stars. C.A. King does it again! In Frost Bitten, we get to go on another fantastic adventure with Willow and her friends.
New threats and an ever deepening mystery follow Willow as she and her friends try to decipher the latest lines in the Prophecy. Loyalties are being questioned. and new alliances are being formed. Willow must decide who to give her own loyalties and love to. Willow’s gifts are changing. Growing. And so are those of her friends. But, her enemies strengths are growing too. Along with the number of her enemies.
C. A. King has written a spellbinding story of love, loyalty and growing up in a magical world. A world where anything can happen and frequently does. It is a well crafted, well built and fantastically well written world. I have recommended this series to my daughter and my friends. We all love a great tale of mystery, adventure and a little love thrown in on the side. Frost Bitten, as the second in the series has all that and more. C. A. Kingis a fantastic writer with a fantastic idea. her world is truly amazing. Her characters are amazing and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
KUDOS! KUDOS! KUDOS! C. A. King. One more if you please!!

The Portal Prophecies: Frost Bitten – Book 3 of 6 by C.A. King – 4 stars

This is a really great series by C.A. King. I would not suggest Frost Bitten as a stand-alone. There are lots of characters to keep track of and get to know in the previous stories.

Frost Bitten was a bit more whimsical than the previous stories. There is also more at stake in Frost Bitten because “Willow (could) be the last hope for all of the worlds. She (might be) the only one who can stop the barriers from coming down and total destruction of all life”. That’s a lot of pressure on her shoulders.

There are a lot of moving pieces in this stories. People who are lost and trying to be found. Powers that are expanding and being explored in a more group dynamic. Introduction to new “people” and worlds. While all this is going on, the main thread of adventure continues. Willow and her friends realize that all is not exactly as it seems and they have to learn to trust their guts and intuitions and those who were once enemies now appear to be “friends”.

I am very much enjoying this series. I do, occasionally, forget who someone is when they are re-introduced but typically it quickly and easily falls into place. It’s a pleasure watching Willow grow and learn and mature in her ways. I look forward to seeing what adventures happen next.

All of the answers are in the prophecy, but first, one has to understand the prophecy. Unknown worlds will be explored. Danger is every present, and a plea from the enemy will tug at Willow's heartstrings.

I have so adored C.A. King The Portal Prophecy series, and I could not wait to start Frost Bitten (The Portal Prophecies #3). Ms King has delivered a story so great that I was simply swept away. I met some new characters, The Frostica, which I thought were wonderful portrayed. As was Santa! Willow continues to grow as a character. So much happens to her in this book and I thought Ms King portrayed Willow's reactions very realistically. Willow struggles with everything that is happening around her. This made her character all the more believable. Once again I also found myself drawn to Lance. He is torn between doing what is right and obeying his father. He and Willow are enemies, and yet, he loves her. I do not want to give away any spoilers, but there are several tender moments between Lance and Willow that were just beautiful

Frost Bitten does stand alone. However, I think to get the most out of this series you need to start from the beginning. Ms King has a gift for storytelling and this is certainly a series you don't want to miss.

I Highly Recommend.

Frost Bitten is the third book in The Portal Prophecies series. This is a young adult series by C.A.King. With her third venture into this amazing world, or should I say worlds, you will not be disappointed. In Frost Bitten King continues to lead us on an amazing journey. This time we are introduced to an unexpected keeper from the past . King gives us a crazy new take on one of the world's favorite characters of folklore. As well as a few other myths . However it’s not all discovering new things and worlds . In this book things are getting darker and falling apart for Willow. She is questioning everything. Foes are becoming friends friends are questionable and her feelings are all over the place. I mean we can’t forget she is still essentially a teen. She just happens to be trying to save the worlds. Not just one but all of them. On top of all that she continues to develop new powers and no one seems to know if this is good or bad . What she does is a threat and threats have to be dealt with.
King has hit this one out of the park again and there is still more to come so I for one can not wait to see where else Willow and her friends will go and what they will discover.

The Portal Prophecies: Frost Bitten by C. A. King

C. A. King did not disappoint. She is an amazing author. Her love of writing is amazing. I would not suggest reading Frost Bitten without reading the first two stories. The last story was a Halloween theme and this time it is in a Winter Solstice theme.

Willow is again learning her powers as well as the rest of her friends. Willow and her friends are trying to answer the call for help from Prince Lance. Santa is missing and now they cannot find him. There many new obstacles and have a snitch who is not relaying the truth. They are meeting a new species call the Frostica the Ice Fairy. They are humanoid creatures with a deadly bite. Willow is growing with each world. Her friends are trying to assist in the new world. Willow is trying to work through her emotions but is having problem trying to distinguish which thoughts are her own. Will Santa be saved you will have to read the story to find out.

The Portal Prophecies series is great. Frost Bitten is the third book and takes place in the winter Willow's safety is still in question. This is a bit darker then the others in the series but so worth the read.

Book 3
Third book in this series. This is one of the strongest books in the series and seems to be getting C.A king sorry across much better than others in the series. This story is a continuation of Willow and her friend’s story about growing up and the challenges that their lives face on their journey. Willow and her friends unravelling a new prophecy and in constant danger. It starts out with a request for help and leads to different worlds where they must battle enemies to survive. Frostbitten takes on a Christmas, Santa type theme and is a bit darker than the first two. The group are led into another world with a new prophecy to work out. The danger they face becomes more intense throughout and they become more practiced and learned in their roles, powers and place in everything. This is a fantastic series full of action, fantasy and amazing world building. There are some moments of light-heartedness and humour and C A King has put her own little slant and uniqueness into some well-established myths and creature which I love. Great author and looking forward to the next book and she has awesome stories when it comes to the magical world. This is an enjoyable book in a good young adult series. While it is based in higher fantasy, there are definitely hints of a Harry Potter and hunge4r games influences throughout the book. There is so much going on in the story that you will not want to book the book down. I think it is perfect for the young adult age group, but anyone of any age would also enjoy it.

The book is the third in the series to the portal prophecies and an awesome series too.

In the Willow and her friends are back looking at the scrutiny of the magical inhabitants int he world as it did in the Hallowed curse, Where as this has the Christmas touch and the feeling through out the whole book. I would have to say it is one of the strongest in the series over all.

To say nothing of her emotional state. The events of Frost Bitten threaten to break her unlike anything else to this point, and that emotional depth serves both her character and the overall narrative well.

Great author and looking forward to the next book and she has awesome stories when it comes to the magical world. I was given this free to give a good review and look forward to the next book.
