S.K Munt is an author and playwright from north Queensland, Australia. She mostly writes adult paranormal fantasies, but loves to take the sweetness, hope and innocence that makes YA so beguiling, and give it an adult twist. You could say that she has a 'Pan' complex as far as happy endings go.

Samantha has 4 children, and is happily married to her first love. So far she has penned thirty-two novels, and five plays. In her spare time, she can be found at rehearsals for her local theatre groups, surfing, reading or cleaning compulsively.

I'm going to review this based on the feedback I've received. You are going to hate the heroine for a good part of this book but that's okay-the last thing she wants is another cling-on :)
I gave Heads Or Tails my everything, so if you've made it this far, I'll give a spoiler alert for a few giggles and a lot of hyperventilating.

GORDIAN KNOT: The Gordian Knot is a legend of Phrygian Gordium associated with Alexander the Great. It is often used as a metaphor for an intractable problem (disentangling an "impossible" knot) solved easily by cheating or "thinking outside the box" ("cutting the Gordian knot"). - Wikipedia

Welcome to Thunderdome. Two men enter, one man leaves.

The long-suffering Lincoln Grey is back to being a second-class citizen again. After Tristan’s untimely death, Lincoln stepped up and became the fiancé of Ivyanne Court. Things were finally starting to work out and it looked like he would marry the love of his life when the unthinkable happened. Tristan Loveridge came back from the presumed dead on the night of the engagement party. Link could already see things starting to slip as one more round of plaudits were added to the Loveridge legend. Things went from bad to worse when Ardhi killed Ivyanne’s parents forcing the mantle of leadership upon her about a hundred years too soon and then hit rock bottom when Ivyanne broke the engagement in order to prevent  Lincoln from becoming a target for the mad mystic merman, Ardhi. Tristan Loveridge is now back in the running and nothing is guaranteed for either suitor.

Heads or Tails opens in the aftermath of her parents’ murder and Ivyanne is struggling to find at least some semblance of safety. She is the only heir to the throne and if she should fall victim to Ardhi’s madness then all continuity will be lost and the fragile kingdom will be in serious trouble. Ivyanne closes up her parent’s home on Bracken Island and relocates to a more defensible house on the mainland. Garridan, her head of security has suggested a guard be formed for her protection and suddenly, the two rivals for her hand find themselves sharing the same roof with a queen who is struggling to come to terms with the responsibilities that have suddenly been thrust upon her.

Tristan is the same old Tristan or so it would seem. He’s  in Sydney trying to repair the damage to his company caused by his absence and presumed demise when he is called to spend a couple of days in Ivyanne’s new home. In The Marked Ones and, to some degree, Three Rings , Tristan Loveridge has appeared to be the sort of devil-may-care kind of guy who would simply move on to other conquests if he was unable to claim Ivyanne’s hand.  In Heads or Tails , S.K. Munt has painted him with more vulnerability and the reader can easily see that he will be hurt if he does not persevere.
Tristan was in love with her. Really and actually in love with her. Lincoln had doubted before but he didn’t now. The guy was on the level, and as vulnerable as Lincoln himself.

Meanwhile, back at The Seaview, Lincoln is trying to keep the resort afloat and adjust to not only being Mer but being a demoted Mer at that. The verbal sparring between he and Tristan will resume and Lincoln will have to keep up. Tristan will continue to hold over his head the fact that Lincoln is alive only because he saved him from drowning in The Marked Ones and took a knife wound for his troubles. To be sure, Lincoln will get his digs in and even gain some ground with Ivyanne, but he will continue to be wrong-footed by Tristan.
Tristan grimaced, feeling a trace of guilt. When it came down to it-Lincoln really was a hard luck case. He’d finally gotten a ring onto the finger of the girl of his dreams only to have her take it off the night of the celebration. The fact that Tristan had kissed her in that damn closet during the party made him feel like a heel.

The cast of characters in Heads or Tails is augmented by the Ms Munt’s promotion of Grace Londeree from her cameo role in Three Rings to a full supporting role in this story. Grace is the niece of Tristan Loveridge and, in many ways, an 18-year-old feminine version of him. Both are achingly beautiful and both won’t stop until they get what they want. For Grace, her want is Lincoln Grey and the fact that she is more mature than a number of the characters in this drama makes her quest all the more interesting. Will she ultimately succeed and will Lincoln ultimately succumb or is Grace simply a teen-aged flirt enthralled by the hottest man on the planet?

Through her extraordinary gifts for story-telling and writing compelling dialogue, S.K. Munt has created the perfect Gordian Knot with the third book in her Fairytail Saga, Heads or Tails. Solving this twisting tail of love, desire and royalty will definitely require that one think outside the box; way outside the box. While some may argue that this is simply the same old romantic triangle with scales, it is so much more and though the question of whom Ivyanne chooses will finally be solved, Ms. Munt seems to have laid the ground work for a fourth book in the series. This is in addition to the YA prequel that she is already at work upon.

To be sure, S.K. Munt keeps  the pot bubbling in Heads or Tails and the reader is kept off balance and one step behind in divining the final outcome. When one factors in the uncertainty of how, when and where Ardhi will choose to strike along with the heartbreak that is certain to befall at least one of the suitors, you have a dark and suspenseful novel that that is difficult to put down. If this is the first that you have heard of The Fairytail Saga,  by all means, go and read The Marked Ones and Three Rings first. The reader will know firsthand the kind of story that S.K. Munt is capable of spinning. If, however, the reader is familiar the first two books, this reviewer strongly suggests that one find a comfy chair or sofa, a bit of something to eat, a few tissues and prepare to submerge themselves in this story. While some readers might not like how Heads of Tails ends, the story is so well told that one simply has almost no choice but to like it. Though some readers may find that romantic triangles are overdone, sometimes it is not so much the story as how the story is told.

There is a bright spot in all of this. Those readers who have followed the entire series will remember Remi, the red-headed barmaid at The Seaview resort. Remi is a mermaid married to a human man for the past 10 years. Mixed marriages usually don’t go beyond a decade and a half because the human partner will inevitably notice that their spouse has appeared to age little, if at all, and in order to protect the secret the spouse will have to disappear . . . no matter how much they may love their human. The only way that the human may enter the Mer world is to be “Turned” by another Mer. Except for the occasional individual who is gifted with the ability to “Turn” at will, this act is fatal to the Mer. Ardhi  is the only one currently known to have this ability and he has gone mental.

There’s tension in Remi’s marriage as she doesn’t want children due to having to leave so soon. Her husband, Michael, knows nothing of what his wife is really facing and has begun drinking more than is good for him. It’s a busy evening at The Seaview and Michael has had too much and wandered off. Lincoln goes in search of him only to find Michael mostly drowned in the resort’s pool. Lincoln revives him but Michael’s life won’t ever be the same. Lincoln has discovered that he can turn humans and live to tell the tail. Remi has her marriage back and Lincoln’s a hero. Will his new-found gift help him in his quest to become Ivyanne’s husband? This reviewer is honour-bound to not spill the beans.

For those who crave at least one little nugget as to how Heads or Tails ends, this reviewer will allow one minor revelation. One of Ivyanne’s first acts as queen is to offer a Knighthood to the person who can take Ardhi down. There is no “winner-take-all” in this story. For he who obtains this rare honour, this reviewer would like to pass on the following bit of advice from a another Knight:
No, you can't always get what you want
No, you can't always get what you want
No, you can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes, you just might find
You get what you need – Sir Mick Jagger

Well first of all, I apologize….I have been gone way too long since I have written. Things always get pretty busy for me at work in January and February….so it was a miracle I finished a new series in just 3 weeks during this time. I hardly ever get to enjoy any free time in these months!
This was my first book I have read on mermaids on a recommendation from a Goodreads friend. The fact that I knew it was about mermaids didn’t really scare me off – when I was little my favorite movie was the little Mermaid, and recently my 2 year old loves to watch the movie, so I actually thought about that before I read it. And these books did not disappoint with all of the ins and outs of mermaid history, powers, and you can’t have mermaids without singing! Either way, don’t let the “mermaid” theme scare you off – it was more like a soap opera than anything, or a paranormal series set on a beach. . The mermaid thing did not bother me at all, and I kind of liked it just because it was different and I have read nothing like it before.
If you like love triangles and like the CHASE more than the prize and what comes after, this series is perfect!! Let’s just say the sexual tension and ANGST goes on through the entire series and does not end until the very last page. Most of the time, I get frustrated if the chase goes on too long….but just as I would get irritated, something would happen and would bring me back down to enjoy the story or book again. The thing I think I liked most about the books is it became like a puzzle….looking for clues, fitting the pieces together and then my dog comes out of nowhere and runs over the pieces making me start again from scratch – ha! I liked the surprises, the tension, and the well thought out cleverness behind the story all the way through book #3. The book to me was mainly focused around the love story and making choices – so if you are wanting more plot substance other than an entertaining read with romance and humor, then I would stay away from this series.
Ivyanne is the main character, princess mermaid who is caught between 4 different suitors. The ages of most of the mermaid main characters are closer to 30, but sometimes act about half their age (which was sometimes infuriating) but I think the purpose was to shed light on many of their personalities and weaknesses or reveal their strengths for that matter The books were all written in various points of view, which I think was necessary to develop certain traits in characters, but it left you curious as a reader because you never knew the entire thoughts or preferences of any one character….which left you guessing along with the rest of the characters. Ivyanne was the main point of view and there were times I really liked her, and times I was VERY ANNOYED about some of her choices, for being weak, and wanted to strangle her to just CHOOSE already. From the beginning I had a favorite male who I wanted to be the love interest (but I won’t tell you who it is as it will ruin the series for you!). But I will say that there were times I was convinced that he was the one….Ivyanne was going to choose him, but JUST as I thought that I felt like she really would choose him - I was smacked on the back of the head with something else and my hopes were just let down. This just happened over and over on the emotional roller coaster screaming NOOOOOO out loud as the crap hit the fan! I felt like I was being emotionally toyed with just like Ivyanne…..then I began to understand why she could not choose….yet there was one that I still favored. This was seriously the first series I was convinced I had really fallen for the wrong guy, and was preparing myself for a let-down at the end of the book. After the end of each book, I had to make myself read further, even though I knew…..I JUST KNEW she would pick the other guy. I was frustrated, but enraptured with the series at the same time, as I was addicted to just finding out who Ivyanne would pick! Given all of this, the last book was my absolute favorite…so I am glad I kept on reading. All of the trickery, the double meanings, the clues…..great ending, and great resolution to the three books. I left having the happy, giddy feeling with ALMOST everything wrapped nicely in a bow, while still leaving it open for more stories in the future. I like to guess my way through the book and make predictions about the end. There were times I REALLY thought I was right…but I always second guessed myself when something else happened….I really liked the game played throughout the book. I HOPE their story continues and there are other books to follow. As a warning, I did think the first book was slower…it really may be because I was super busy and it took me a lot longer to read than it should have….but I really think I have to blame that on my current busy state and not the book itself! I felt like each book was better than the last, and there was plenty of tension, steamy love scenes, sarcasm, and laughs throughout. Great read…and definitely a recommend.

The cover is great and I like how the colour plays into the book..
The Characters are amazing. They come to life in front of you and in your head. In the first book I had a hell of a time figuring out who was who and who was with who and from who and *head spin* but the more you read the easier it gets. So many options for spin off books.
The story is amazing. I am not into mermaids and to be honest they do nothing for me lol but this series was so good. It had it's ups and downs for me but the ups were so up that the downs faded away. Wow this was intense at times. I was so angry at times and so frustrated I wanted to smack people and other times so giddy and excited. THAT is why this book got 5 stars from me. If a book can move me the way these ones did then holy hell they deserve a 5. The romance scenes were great and the excitement amazing, the details something else. When I finished it I was speechless but yet at the same time wanted to scream so much lol. Heck I'm sitting here freezing my butt off writing a review because I can't go to bed *sigh*.
The ending was AMAZING!!!! lol I personally loved the outcome ;)
I would love to hear more from the characters in the book.

The Writing Style was incredible, the characters so well defined and clear, it sucked me right in. The skill for making us want more yet not (at the same time) and for making me feel the things I felt all from words on a page....wow, I am in awe.

I would recommend this book to anyone - it is a sweet romantic love story with a few twists and some pretty amazing excitement!

I've really been enjoying this series and have been team Tristan all the way so this book made me want to strangle Ivyanne. Then, finally she gets her act together and makes the right choice for her king! The suspense of Ardhi and his new gang keeps you on edge wondering when he's going to make his revenge move. I do want Lincoln to have his happy ending, just not right now. Looking forward to the last book in the series.

Alright, so this will be my first review that I've written ever. I thought that Heads Or Tails (The entire series, really.) deserved one.

Firstly, that was a brilliant ending.
Secondly, every situation was dealt with beautifully.
Thirdly, I'm really...I have no words

I loved all the characters, I even loved the characters that I disliked. If a writer can make that happen they deserve an applause. The whole time I was pulling at my hair from being excited, nervous, and scared. I felt literally, every emotion throughout every book.

Despite the fact that at some points it bugged me that she kept running back and fourth between the two guys, I understood that her actions were completely understandable. She was torn between the love that she thought one man deserved, and the love from one man that she though she deserved. And I respect her for wanting to make sure that whatever decision she made, would be the right one. Both Lincoln and Tristan had something to offer, in a way they can't really be compared to one another...I liked them both. I had no idea who she was going to choose until the last 30 pages.

When she did choose, I was thrilled and happy because I had been rooting for him all a long.

Also, character development was amazing. I loved it.

Thank you for this read :)

Norway... im sure the freezing waters would chase anything close to a mermaid or merman away with ease. I have to say i was a somewhat interested if this story was going to work for me, but it SOOO did. The characters and the locations are so well described i felt like i was in Australia or living in the ocean myself. I felt like an observer standing next to Tristan or Link and could feel the emotional torture at times. I actually found it hard to choose a favorite merman at times. I could expand my interest for any of the mermen presented in the series as they were all described in the most droolworthy way aswell. It was a good read and i truly can recommend this to anyone looking for a good story with som hairpulling dilemmas and rollercoaster storyline. There is a lot going on, and many characters to get to know. It was almost demanding to keep up at times, in this story thats demanding in the most positive way possible.

I seriously didn't think it could happen but Heads or Tails, book 3 was even better then the first two books in the series. I felt like I was personally invested in this story. I could feel the anger, the hurt, the love, the danger. Oh my gosh, how I love Tristan, I mean seriously, who wouldn't? Sometimes I just wanted to shake Ivyanne and scream at her for her actions. I wanted to put my hand through the book and grab Arhdi by the throat!! I liked Lincoln but I was definately rooting for Tristan all the way. The book had a very satisfying ending and didn't leave me hanging. The were, however, a few things that make me think there may be another book in the works, I hope there is another book in the works. I want another book!! I loved all three books in the Fairytale Saga. I think the author is outstanding. I will be looking for any of her future works. Thanks S.K.Munt I have enjoyed this journey very much!!

Even though I wish Arhdi would have gotten his last book, this one was by far my favorite so far. I have only had one other book make me cry before, so Brava Miss Munt! When you're so well invested in the characters, the decision that started in book one finally revealing itself in book three deserved an aww moment with some tears.

Now I will say that I went from Team Lincoln to Team Tristan about a billion times before I chose a side. And the way Munt reveals Inyanne's choice...holy shit! Rapidly beating heart on top of crying...It was perfectly perfect.

I don't like how the last character decided to end the book. Made me think too much of Arhdi's attitude; however, I'm hoping Stained Glass will reveal what I was hoping for him with a certain persistent young mermaid ;)

Wonderful, entrancing read and can't wait to dive into Stained Glass ASAP!

First off let me say I read over 100 books a year so I know the great ones stay with you after you finish them. When I finished the second book in the Fairytale saga I was so mad. Lol I stomped around my house for hours because I thought she was not going to choose the guy I wanted her to. (Team Tristan all the way) The third book definitely had a lot of twists and turns. I will admit the author definitely gave me a heart attack. Every time I thought Ivyanne had chosen one or the other something else would happen. I sped through all three books in under a week because I had to know how they ended. I will probably go back and re-read them slower this time. I am very happy with the ending and really enjoyed these books. I wish they didnt have to end.

I just finished all three books in the series and I think from the time I picked up the first one, I was reading constantly until I'd read all three. I never comment on books but this series just grabbed me and held on, so I wanted to write something. I can't believe how much the characters drew me in or how invested I was in the story. I was actually hesitant to begin reading this book as I didn't think I could handle it if Ivyanne didn't pick Tristan! It took me about 24hrs to mentally prepare myself before I could begin. This book was just absolutely amazing and I am so happy to hear that there will be a fourth instalment to the series!

Well, the final book in the saga did not disappoint. I was up until after 1am (and on a school night!) last week because I just couldn't rest without knowing how Ivyanne's story ended... for now. As with the first two books, there were some errors that could do with some serious proof-reading. I did find it distracting. When it came to the plot, I just love the direction this book has taken, and if the author is going to continue this story down the track, I cannot wait! Team Tristan allllll the way!

Oh oh oooooh this book was ah-mazing. Everything you could hope for from the final book in a series and zero disappointment. I neglected everything in my life until I finished reading this! My husband and kids all got the "don't speak, I'm reading" hand when they came near me and my kindle! It was just that awesome.

Wow! I nearly had an anxiety attack reading this book! The sexual tension and drama had me on edge the entire time! The author has an amazing way of making you feel like your right there with the characters! This has been my favourite book so far out of the 3. I cannot recommend this book and series highly enough, I know it's something that I will read over and over again!

Great continuation

Finally! Ivyanne gets her act together! She makes her decision of who will be king. The suspense of Ardhi, the psycho, trying to get his revenge keeps you on edge. Can't wait to read the last one in the series.

The only reason I gave it a 4 is because of the grammar and spelling. A little distracting.

The following is a short dramatization of me while reading Heads or Tails.

Me: "UGH!! This POS, goddamn book!!" *Musters up every last bit of self control to prevent herself from hurling her very expensive Kindle across the room.*

Five minutes later...
Me: "I am a grown woman. I can, and will, maturely accept that the author was clearly drunk and/or delirious while writing this story." *picks up book and begrudgingly continues to read.*

One hour later, as Ivyanne is about to FINALLY reveal the identity of her chosen King...
Me: "You stupid broad. To think that you refer to yourself as a Queen *scoffs* Go ahead and just choose (insert name of despised, worthless, love triangle participant here) already! You don't deserve (insert name of handsome, sexy, most deserving of the title "King", love triangle participant here), anyway!" *continues half-heartedly reading until Ivyanne passionately declares, "I choose (insert name of handsome, sexy, most deserving of the title "King" love triangle participant's name here.)!"*

Me: UGH! I knew it!! You stup- wait. What? What?! *re-reads Ivyanne's last statement, multiple times. Blinks several times. Slowly starts smiling like a maniac.*

Me: "Oh. My. God. Yes! YES! I knew it!! Yes!!" *Starts insanely, and repeatedly kissing her Kindle.* "HA! HA! Fuck you, (insert name of stupid, worthless, love triangle participant here)! Oh, how I love you, Ivyanne! I never for a second doubted your ability to make the right choice!" *Takes a deep, calming breathe, and smiling like the lunatic she is, finishes reading the third, and best, yet, installment of one of the best series she's read in a while. All is right with the world, once again.*

LOL! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, S.K. Mount! I never once doubted that you'd choose the best merman... *giggles nervously and winks*

WOW I literally just finished! So my apologies for the overly excited review!

It was such a great saga, I loved the whole Mermaid mythology that the author came up with when it comes to Mermaid.
I loved every single characters and the character development, the action, the love triangle (... or should I say pentagram??) .

The author manages to frustrate you at the verge of breaking point when it comes to knowing who Ivyanne will choose and reveal it in a nail biting scene AND YET AGAIN you manage to not know for sure until the last few chapters... GAWSH!

This one kept me on my toes

I’ve enjoyed following Ivyanne along on this journey, even though more than once I’d like to have smacked her! There are so many layers to this story, and so many twists to the plot; I couldn’t put the book down!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to read book #4 in this series!

The whole book leads up to a mystery

Drama, intrigue, passion, a death, a wedding. This book has a lot going on in it. But it ends with a mystery, one that I cannot wait to see figured out.
