Blood is thicker than water. A saying that symbolizes the ties of family, but if you ask the Marshall siblings Rocco, Phoenix, Moselle and Skyla they'll tell you that's not necessarily true. Abuse, abandonment and neglect have brought these four siblings together and created a family like no other. Take a journey with The Marshalls as they go through the good, the bad and the ugly and prove that when it comes to Loyalty Is Thicker Than Blood.
Cynthia Blue is a military brat and a native of Albany, Georgia. She is the oldest out of two children and the only daughter. She is single with no children. She graduated from Dougherty Comprehensive High School and is also a Savannah State University Alum with a BBA in Computer Information Systems. She started writing in the beginning of 2011 as a coping mechanism. In time she found it to be her passion and decided to let it grow and blossom into a challenging and fulfilling career.
For this particular book, I struggled to make it through the first three chapters. The writing style was too simple and too literal, and as a result, the book failed to hold my attention. While what I read in the first couple of pages revealed what potentially sounds like a loving and caring family, the lack of proper editing and the lack of engaging writing kept me from continuing to read further to find out more about this particular family.
The old saying is that blood is thicker than water. Another is you can't choose your relatives but you can choose your family. Loyalty and family is all we have most of the time.
The Marshalls are a family of choice. The matriarch of the family is Eloise. Her children are Rocco, Phoenix, Moselle, and Skyla. She rescued them all from horrific circumstances and showed them the true meaning of familyand love. She teaches them to love each other, protect each other, and family loyalty.
Fast forward several years later, the children are grown, out on their own, living productive lives. Rocco married his sweetheart Bella and they have two children. Phoenix is player extraordinaire working at museum as a curator. Modelled has a son Bray and is a successful businesswoman. Skyla is a businesswoman with relationship issues.
It would seem as if everything is going well until someone starts taking shots at the Marshall family. The family is tested in ways that would cripple a lesser family. What happens to the family? Who is responsible?
I am giving four stars for an interesting story that covers issues that happens every day somewhere in the world. Blue wasn't afraid to tackle tough subject matter.
Every book I read is a five star novel when I start it. In this case I cannot award five stars for only one reason and that is the distraction of the changes in tense in the book. The story is intriguing and keeps one reading. I enjoyed the characters though I thought they could have had a little more development. Eloise has to be a saint to have taken in all these kids in her youth. Each of the children had their own problems to deal with and did so successfully which tells me the author is a very hopeful person. All in all I enjoyed the read a great deal but for the one distraction which is unavoidable throughout the book. I intend to read the second in this family of novels in order to continue my understanding and knowledge of the characters. With a little more editing work this could have been an easy five star read for me.
The Marshalls: Loyalty Is Thicker Than Blood was a very engaging and emotional read. Great storyline. These stories of Rocco, Phoenix, Moselle, Skyla and their love ones comes together to present an awesome tale. We witness their abuse, abandonment, neglect and triumph over it all.
Ms. Blue penned a great story and being a story driven readers is what kept me focus. This novel needs to be edit, the errors are distracting and definitely takes away from the body of these journeys. I would love to recommend both of these book and will definitely do so when the aforementioned occurs. Additionally, please number the pages. With the necessary corrections and additions, this could easily be a five star read as the story is strong and unfolds nicely.
Excellent read. Love the relationship these adopted siblings have. All for on and one for all is the perfect motto for them. They all come from different backgrounds but the love, loyalty, and support they have for search other is amazing. So many unanswered question part 2 is definitely a must read.
The story started off mild, but when it picked up, I did not want to put it down! There are so many unanswered questions that I must go one click part 2. Too many tragedies happening somebody got some 'splainin to do!
This is my first time reading your book Ms. Blue I tell you what a read love the story line but I was left with unanswered questions can't wait to read book 2. I just love Ms. Marshall what a sweet to take in these kids bless her heart.
I enjoyed this book and was hooked from start of the book. Was pissed with what happened at the end because I was happy for Phoenix. On to the book keep up the good work
