This book introduces the insect firefly, which is a type of beetle.

This beginning reader, illustrated with color photographs, gives a basic introduction to fireflies. It describes their physical characteristics, names their body parts, and explains how and why they produce light.

A glossary, an index, suggested websites, and a bibliography for further reading are included at the back of the book.

This book contains many high quality, close-up photos, and it is the best book on fireflies for lower elementary students that I have read.
