Camping? Who likes to go camping?

“C’mon, it’ll be fun,” he said.

So here I am. Stuck in the middle of the Blackwater River State Forest with no cell service or running water, with Ryan, my camp-loving boyfriend.

Alone.

Or, I thought so, until I caught one of our neighbors watching us.
Ryan doesn’t seem concerned about it when the stranger invites us back to their RV.

Yes, THEIR RV. AJ, Jared, Cora, and Georgia.

They all seem nice… at first.

Strange things keep happening.

Hopefully we get service soon.

This little book reminded me exactly why I love erotic horror. Fucking unhinged, gory, and packed with “jaw on the floor” moments that keep you thoroughly entertained while flipping pages fast as hell. This is the definition of being on the edge of your seat while also wanting to throw up a little( I KNEW that shit wasn’t a cheeseburger.)

If you’re looking for something you can devour in one sitting that will have you questioning life and how the hell you got here this novella is perfect. It’s raunchy it’s freaky it’s nasty, and I had a fucking blast.

Also, I will be thinking about that big fucking toe for the rest of my life.

I will never look at camping the same way again.

If you’re looking for an HEA, this is not for you. If you’re looking for a horror book, this is for you.

A couple decides to go camping and runs into two other couples. At the same time, they think that they are having a good time with new people. The two sets of couples have other plans.

No Service is a quick erotic horror read. It has shock value, gore, and spice. There is a scene I couldn't help but chuckle at. Which made me question, is there something wrong with me? It is what it is.

The lesson of this novella is always listen to your gut feelings. I recommend this to any dark reader. On my dark scale. It testers between dark grey and black. But could your next pitch-black read.

You know when you hesitate to rate a book 5 stars because it was THAT messed up & now everyone knows publicly you have a corrupt mind & enjoy this type of filth? Yeah that is me right now. Krista did it. She brought the gore, the spice, the shock factor. I needed all of this & she hand fed it all to me within a novella.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ (For the pure audacity of this horror)
I finally found a book with a female lead who is a graphic designer… and it just had to be this one. 🙃
So there is NO HEA here. This novella is pure horror and the kind of graphic content that stays with you long after you finish it. It hits every trigger warning imaginable and somehow manages to invent new ones along the way.
Krista, you are brilliant and terrifying. This book is absolute madness. I can’t believe I agreed to read it… and yet, I’ll probably be back for whatever else your pitch-black brain breeds.
Thank for the ARC!

Not that I loved camping to begin with, but I’m officially never going again. Krista your messed up mind that I love oh so much has also ruined a good mask chase through the woods for me so thank you for that new trauma. I found myself messaging Krista wondering what a leg boot was, and this put a whole new meaning to the phrase toe jam….

This was such a fun concept and it was absolutely messed up. It’s giving a cult of psychopaths, and whole lot of Stockholm dynamics with the devote women who choose to stand by their twisted men and revel in the debauchery with them. What starts out as a wholesome camping trip, turns into a twisted The Hills have Eyes moment, but add a lot of banging. Little do they know our happy couple has been eating this twisted group of overly “friendly” campers last victim.

AJ and his twisted psychological games were probably my favorite part, a mentally unstable rich kid with a trust fund. I almost wish this was a full length novel so we got even more psychological warfare from him. While this book was predictable it kept my heart rate through the roof with anticipation of what I knew was to come. I’d have liked to have more time with our happy couple as the captives, not that I wish that upon them, but we were more connected to them than the first victim of this twisted group, so the impact would have been even greater. Overall, this was another fantastic read from Krista, and I happily would have read another 100 pages!

Thank you so much to Krista Turner Clark for the opportunity to read this pre-release in exchange for my honest review.

“Embrace the darkness.” Yeah..

You know, in my life until now I have never wanted to go camping and now I have even more reasons why I never will. 🤷🏻‍♀️ This is pure horror, depraved and very f*cked up, but congratulations for coming up with it, Krista. Thanks for the ARC.. I think. 🤔😂

✨ absolutely unhinged ✨

Thank you Krista for giving me the opportunity to ARC read No Service 🖤

This was my first horror erotica and I was hooked. Don’t let the fact it’s a novella fool you - it’s packed with spice and gore and felt like an entire horror movie!

As always, check your triggers (unless you’re like me and love to go in blind). And definitely don’t expect a HEA… you won’t find one here.

It may be too much for your average bear 😂 3.5 ⭐️

We have a couple on a weeks camping trip in the middle of b*tt f^*k nowhere, they meet up with a group of college students however, these aren’t your normal students. No, they are invariably a group of depraved individuals each having their own psycho element. The couple are older than them, in love and combine their trip with lots of spice.

𝙺𝚗𝚘𝚠𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝙸'𝚖 𝚙𝚛𝚎𝚢𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚘𝚗 𝚜𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚘𝚗𝚎'𝚜 𝚖𝚒𝚗𝚍 𝚒𝚜 𝚜𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝙸 𝚛𝚎𝚕𝚒𝚜𝚑.

I liked it, but for me it could have been so much more, after reading the extensive list of triggers prior to applying for the ARC I expected a more in depth analysis of said characters, their penchant for flesh, their depravity and subsequent delivery. I have read a lot darker stories with more substance, this one for me just fell short of my expectations. It is a quick read and if you like a touch of gore, 🐝DSM elements and spice etc. this will be for you, for me it only started getting to the humpf stage when I got to 20% left and I was wondering when and how the author was going to squeeze it all in.

Thank you so much for the ARC! This was my first ever ARC and I’m forever grateful for the opportunity to read it before the release day.

What a wild ride this was!! I was so entirely hooked from start to finish that I was shocked to realise it was over. I wish this book was way longer!! This definitely messed with your head and was full of go*re and tort*re, so check your trigger warnings. I went into this blind and had a great time. Highly recommend reading this! 🖤

This book was addictive and I couldn't put it down ,I have never heard of this Author before and I haven't read horror before (im a romance kinda girl but do love my horror movies ) but i will be keeping a eye on more books .This book delivered on its promise of intense dark and Erotic themes . The build up on tension was exceptional, creating a truly unsettling atmosphere. (Im ment to go camping next week not sure i want too now lol ) It's a quick fast paced read with a some 🔥🔥🔥 spice . If you enjoy psychological horror with a smutty plot, this is a book for you . Make sure to check content warnings, as it can get disturbing at times .I did squirm at some of the blood play scenes .
If you are hoping for a hea sorry you ain't gonna find one .

I recieved a Arc copy from the Author and am giving a honest review

well this was one hell of a camping trip🤣 Do I need therapy if I liked this?😅🤣 This was so unhinged I don’t even know what to say🤣 You want a lot of gore, spice with some thriller? Then this is perfect!

It was fucking dark and it is pitch black erotic horror so don’t go into this thinking it’s your run of the mill dark romance novella. Definitely read the triggers if you’re not used to pitch black books.

As usual I could not put this book down and finished in record time. If Krista writes it, I read it. There is no discussion. Also the idea for this book? Shocking! It was so original, I loved EVERYTHING about it. Fxck me this was such a wild and unhinged ride🤣 And do I dare say I like AJ and Jared?😭🤣 Don’t come for me for that, I’m just a girl🥹🤣

The connection and love between our main couple was amazing and they also had some great chemistry and spice🌶️🔥! This is how every relationship should be🤭 However he was very naive and annoying, but chemistry was good🤣

Thank you Krista for sharing this story early! Thank you for writing it and thank you for always writing SHORT CHAPTERS!!!!🫶🏼🔥

First off, huge thanks to the author for sending me this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Secondly I want to say that I believe reading is super subjective, and I’m all about dark romance and pitch-black stories, but this one just didn’t do it for me.

I however LOVED the idea of a couple going camping, and everything goes downhill from there. Honestly, I’m pretty sure I’ll never want to go camping again after reading this! 😅

The problem I had was that by the time things started happening, I had already lost interest. I felt like It took forever to get going, and there wasn’t much build-up or mystery with the other campers or what was coming next, you’re pretty much given all the facts about the story very early on.
The story felt really predictable and straightforward. I personally would’ve loved a twist or something unexpected to happen.

That said, it’s definitely pitch black, and the characters are psychotic and should be checked in to an asylum! 😄

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC for No Service and absolutely devoured it within a couple of hours. If you're looking for plot, spice, blood, and the kind of story that makes you run to Google to investigate things... this one is for you. if not, this should not be your first Pitch Black read! There is NO HEA!

No Service follows a long term couple who go on a camping trip to escape the corporate world for a few days. Hiking, seclusion, no water, and no cell service... or so they think.
Almost immediately, they befriend other campers who seem welcoming, but clearly have ulterior motives.

I really enjoyed this novella. It was a quick, intense read that had me questioning my sanity more than once. I especially hate when FMCS voice valid concerns and are labeled as crazy and paranoid, but that absolutely happens here. I only sets the tone for everything that follows...

I highly recommend if you're in the mood for a short, unhinged read with degradation, spice, blood, and gore.

2.5 stars — not a bad book at all, just not aligned with my personal tastes.

This book is exactly what it claims to be: erotic horror.
Not dark romance. Not thriller. Not suspense.
Erotic. Horror.
And in that sense, the author absolutely accomplished what she set out to do.

This felt like watching a 90s slasher movie — the kind with gratuitous sex, bad decisions, ominous woods, and a creeping sense of dread that never lets up. It’s gory, unhinged, deranged, and pitch‑black. I was intrigued, unsettled, and genuinely anxious about what would happen to Marley and Ryan.

But even with all of that, I don’t think this book was for me.

What Worked for Me
- The slasher‑movie atmosphere was spot‑on.
- The tension and dread were constant.
- The villain POVs (AJ and Jared) were disturbing in exactly the way erotic horror intends.
- The final scenes had my heart racing — I was literally shaking while reading.
- I appreciated that the author didn’t pretend this was a romance or offer false hope. The “no HEA” warning was honest and set the tone.

Where It Didn’t Work for Me (Personal Taste, Not Craft Issues)

1. I needed more plot and psychological buildup
Erotic horror leans heavily on vibe, shock, and escalation.
I personally prefer more psychological tension and less nihilism.
I wanted more of AJ’s mind‑games and less of the unhinged, over‑the‑top scenes that left me feeling hopeless rather than anxious.

2. The sexual content felt gratuitous for my taste
I understand that erotic horror uses sex to unsettle, not to connect — but some scenes were so extreme that I couldn’t visualize the logistics (aphantasia problems), and the sheer number of them pulled me out of the story.

3. Character logic was hard for me to sit with

I know this is a slasher trope, but it frustrated me because I liked their relationship and wanted more emotional grounding.

4. Some gore elements stretched believability
logistics were hard for me to wrap my head around. Again — probably a mix of genre expectations and my aphantasia.

5. The truck scene confused me
I may have missed something, but it threw me out of the moment.

Final Thoughts
This book is a car wreck I couldn’t look away from — in the exact way erotic horror is meant to be. It’s dark, disturbing, and relentless. I can appreciate the tension, the atmosphere, and the commitment to the genre.

But between the slasher‑logic decisions, the hopelessness, the extreme sexual content, and my own preference for more psychological depth, this just wasn’t the right fit for me emotionally.

Honestly?
Even after all of this, I’m still curious about Frat Row, which looks just as pitch‑black but actually has an HEA. That feels much more in my lane.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 6 STARS BECAUSE FIVE IS NOT ENOUGH

I was honored to be gifted an ARC copy of No Service by Krista Turner Clark. It is one of the most f*ed up, feral, absolutely unhinged books I’ve read in a long time—and I mean that as the highest compliment.

This book is pure anxiety in paperback form. The kind that makes your stomach drop, your skin crawl, and your brain scream “NOPE NOPE NOPE” while you keep turning the page anyway. I was incredibly freaking hooked from start to finish. No pauses. No “I’ll read one more chapter.” It was full send or nothing.

And as a Florida native, let me just say: this book is the EXACT reason I do not go camping. Ever. Not in the woods, not near the woods, not even thinking about the woods. Krista captures that uniquely terrifying Florida energy—the isolation, the heat, the unspoken danger, the feeling that nature is actively plotting against you—in a way that feels too real. Like… I’ve met places like this. I’ve driven past them and sped up.

The tension is relentless. The vibes are feral. The descent is deranged. You never feel safe, and the book knows it.

If you like horror that doesn’t ask permission, ZERO HEA, characters pushed beyond the brink, and stories that make you swear off camping for life—read this immediately.

Holy shit. I’m obsessed. 🖤🔥

Now this. This is a true horror erotica. It grabbed me right away. Krista's managed to write what feels like an entire horror movie in only 153 pages. That's just impressive. Believe me when i say, what happens in this book is your worst nightmare.

It's super gory and it reminded me a bit of ' the Hills have eyes'.
Krista's writing is clear, easy to follow and the spice between Ryan and Marley is 🥵.
This book has an open ending and i don't know if there's more to come or that this is it.

I signed up for an ARC of this book and i'm so freaking happy that i get to be one of the first people to read and review it for you.

check the TW for this one please as it's really dark and do yourself a favor and read this🤘👀

Firstly, I’d like to thank Krista for the opportunity to read and review an eARC for this book.

I’d also like to preface this by saying that everyone experiences books differently.

——

I think the plot had a lot of potential: A couple camping in a remote area, no cell service, who fall victim to a group of cannibalistic psychos. It was interesting enough to draw me in.

Unfortunately, as someone who loves dark and depraved erotic horror stories… this book fell short of my expectations. There were some horror elements throughout the book but not enough to keep me truly hooked. I would have loved to see more psychological build up without the author revealing things about the antagonists so quickly (I basically wanted to be gaslit into thinking I was going insane). Things didn’t truly begin until nearly 80% in. This personally lessened the psychological impact for me and resulted in the end feeling really rushed.

4,5 ⭐️ 5🌶
Krista did it again!!!
The book is a pitch black/erotic horror. This is not a book for all readers!!
It has a very good spice, but that the most sensitive will not like with the progress of the story...
It is a quick and emotional reading that grips us from beginning to end!!
The first chapters are very spicy🔥🔥🔥🌶🌶
Suddenly you find yourself wondering if you read well... and end up yelling at the main character!!! 😅😂😂
Congratulations on your excellent work 💕

Honest ARC review:

Krista voltou a arrasar!!!
Parabéns pelo excelente trabalho 💕

✨ARC Review✨

What the hell was in this book? Crack or something? I was HOOKED.
I ate this up in one sitting.
Why was I turned on in some parts? Maybe when people say 'there's something wrong with you' they're telling the truth. 💁🏻‍♀️

It may be a short quick read, but it was PACKED full of the most depraved shit you could ever read. It was actually fucked up.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around it all. Why was part of me horrified, and another part like 'ohhh this primal play is hot as fuck 🥵'.

A true horror erotica, I want more. 😭

*Would honestly give it 0 ☆. I went into this book pretty blind. The author billed it as "erotic horror," but this is nothing more than torture porn. Edward Lee knows how to do erotic horror; it leaves you feeling disgusting and wanting to take a shower until your skin feels off. It felt like this author was trying to get us off on grape and torture. The kind of person who would get off on the sex scenes in this book needs to be in prison. This book could have either worked as a short story with a single, steamy sex scene between the main couple and no one else, or as a full-length novel, again with only sex scenes between the main couple. As it stood, I never learned anything about any of the characters beyond surface level. The main couple have been together for 10 years, but you would never believe that based on how they act towards each other, especially with how the man treats the woman. The intimacy between them feels forced, theres no build-up. There is no motivation for the cannibal killer couples, besides just pure depravity. I can't figure out what this book was trying to be. It could've been just straight-up horror, but as any sort of "spicy" novel, it fails miserably. I desperately wanted to give up reading it at 70%, but I've promised myself $10 for every book I read this year to go towards community college. Otherwise, don't waste your time or your money with this one.

Short, Spicy & Unhinged

This unhinged pitch black erotic novella was devoured in one sitting with zero regrets! 4⭐️!

Firstly, thank you Krista for giving me the opportunity to ARC read No service. I loved the writing style and all the POV’s, it really made me feel like I was there in the forest with them.

If you are going to dive into this then please check your TW’s, there are 60+ for a damn good reason! And definitely don’t expect a HEA because you won’t find one here.

No Service starts off with a bang and keeps going, there were no dull moments, the spice was so good and had some unexpected moments too. I loved how fast paced it was but the ending was so quick, I needed more! If it had been drawn out a bit more it would’ve been perfect. This could be another 100 pages long and I would still devour it.

I really enjoyed all the unhinged moments but the toe thing?? Nope, no thanks, let’s leave that out next time, at this point I can read pretty much anything but the toe got me!

I hope we get to read more of these characters in the future because I’m not done with them!

SPOILERS!!

You have been warned!

I knew that wasn’t beef, I swear all 4 of them are unhinged because of their diet, it’s fucking them up!

Ryan, you are a dick, you should’ve listened to Marley and now look where you are

As much as the toe thing was gross, I actually thought it was going to be taken a step further, maybe I’ll give Krista ideas hahaha

I kinda wish the torture had been more drawn out, Ryan met such a quick end, does that make me unhinged? Probably

This was an ARC read 🖤🥺

If No Services was a food, it’d be whiskey-smoked cashews with chilli flakes.

This is a dark, spicy, smoky afternoon read, the heat and tension building with each bite. Very hard to put down once you’ve cracked it open.

I’m glad I knew going in that this wasn’t a HEA. That knowledge helped. I do wish I hadn’t seen some of the trigger warnings so early, as they spoiled a few moments, but that’s a personal trade-off. This book is dark as fuck, and you should absolutely check your TWs before starting if you have any.

A few side characters felt slightly jarring when they took over, like expecting a cashew and getting a walnut instead, but it never broke the spell for long.

I didn’t breathe through the final few chapters. The tension is relentless.

The build is excellent, slow and deliberate... until you realise you’ve devoured the whole thing in one sitting. I finished it mouth open, just staring.

The aftertaste definitely lingers with this one.
Not sure how I feel about camping right now.

Mild spoiler:
I loved how elements near the end mirror the beginning. By then, the flavour has completely changed, richer, harsher, more distorted, and it all builds into something genuinely fucked-up and horrific.

I’m glad I read it.

I wouldn’t read it again.

Pet peeve:
Ryan. My dude. You are the one who was super into camping, then complained about being bored. Hello??

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy, but this review is entirely my own—now that the formalities are done, let me scream for a second.

Holy. Actual. Hell.

This book grabbed me by the throat and did not let go. I told myself “just a few chapters” and suddenly it was finished, my drink was warm, and my sanity was questionable. One sitting. No breaks. No dignity.

This is not a cute little spicy read. This is true horror erotica—disturbing, intense, and absolutely feral. If you’re sensitive to dark content, seriously check the trigger warnings because this book does not hold your hand… it drags you into the abyss and locks the door behind you.

The spice? Unhinged. 5🌶 and criminal.
Ryan and Marly had me staring at the wall like I’d just witnessed something I wasn’t supposed to see 👀👌

What really impressed me was the writing. It never felt rushed or sloppy like some novellas can—every scene had purpose, the tension kept building, and the atmosphere was thick. You could feel the descent. The dread. The “oh no, this is going somewhere bad” energy—and I loved every second of it.

And that ending… yeah. I won’t spoil it, but just know it lives rent-free in my head and refuses to leave.

My advice? Grab a strong drink, sit somewhere comfortable, prepare to feel morally compromised, and strap yourself in. This book is a ride—and it does not come with seatbelts.

ARC Review

Krista delivered once again! I was lucky enough to be selected as an ARC reader for another one of her books, and this novella absolutely did not disappoint.

I had been counting down the days for this release ever since Krista first announced it. From her videos, I knew it would be a pitch-black novella, but beyond that I went in completely blind—and wow, was I unprepared. To say I had no idea what I was in for is a serious understatement.

From the very first chapter, the suspense had me hooked. I could sense something dark lurking beneath the surface, but I never imagined the level of depravity that followed. I found myself wanting to shake Ryan for his naivety, knowing deep down that things were already spiraling out of control.

I kept mentally screaming at them to run, even though I knew it wouldn’t matter. These people knew exactly what they were doing, and it was over for Marley and Ryan from the moment it began.

I devoured this book in one sitting—about two hours from start to finish—because I simply could not put it down. The ending completely shocked me, and honestly, I wished it had gone on just a little longer.

To future readers: prepare yourselves. This book is not for everyone. If you’re easily triggered or have a weak stomach, please check the content warnings beforehand. I consider myself an experienced pitch-black reader with no triggers, and even I had moments that made me shiver.

For readers like me who crave surprises and love truly dark, pitch-black stories—full send. Buckle up. You’re in for one hell of a ride!

I'm officially scared of going camping now😭
Thank you so much for the Arc, Krista!
I will start off by saying all these trigger warnings are there for a very good reason, so everyone, please check them!
This is the very first time I've read a book like that! I've read erotic horror before but never one like this! And I'm pleasantly surprised to say I actually enjoyed it very much! I didn't really know what I was getting myself into but honestly, I'm happy I did! I kept thinking 'Can it get more fucked up than 'Frat row'' and it did! This one is definitely for all the pitch black book readers, don't miss on this one, it's an absolute spicy, gory, fucked up ride! I read it in one sitting and I believe this book will live in my mind rent-free for quite some time! It was really spicy, the gore was definitely there, but I'm really happy that it was the kind of gore I can handle! Once again I really enjoyed Krista's dark messed up characters, she just writes them so well! 😭
I really think every dark reader out there should give it a try and be prepared to be completely shaken up! 🖤
