It must be hard to be a secret agent because it could be scary trying to spy on criminal masterminds.
This could be one of my favorite series. It is because my favorite genre is mysteries.

Zombie Cows is the second book in the Agent Amelia series, a collection of chapter books originally published in the UK that are now making their way to the US thanks to Lerner Publishing Group. Each book in the series contains three episodes in which Amelia Kidd, a child secret agent, must fight evil and ego-maniacal villains who want to take over the world. In this book, the episodes are entitled "The Case of the Zombie Cows", "The Case of the Perilous Pipe" and "The Case of the Creepy Cakes."

In "The Case of the Zombie Cows", Amelia is at a petting zoo with her mother when she encounters some strange mechanical farm animals. In "The Case of the Perilous Pipe" a substitute teacher's strange musical instrument seems to have a strong, creepy hold over many of the students. And in "The Case of the Creepy Cakes", Amelia visits a bakery where the owners are trying to make everyone fat. Each of the villains is comical and easily beaten once Amelia is able to convince him or her to brag about his/her plan for world domination. The bad guys in each of these stories reminded me of some of Roald Dahl's villains, or of someone like Count Olaf from the Series of Unfortunate Events books. They are evil through and through, but it's still believable that a child can defeat them.

The language in this book is very straightforward with no extraneous frills, making it a great choice for new chapter book readers. Each story is fast-paced and well-plotted, and Amelia's sense of humor and intelligence kept me turning the pages so quickly I finished the book in one sitting. Hers is a unique voice that stands out from other chapter book heroines, and while the setting of the stories is familiar, the focus on spying and bringing down forces of evil will attract kids who like adventure and mystery stories. This is one of those series that will appeal to boys and girls, and to reluctant readers as well.

Amelia a secret agent is not really a secret agent but she has saved the world a lot of times from evil genisus. Amelia even makes her own gadgets. She carries a backpack with all secret agent supplies lots of costumes so she won't be recongized, pad and pencil and magnify glass.

Her first case is found when her mom takes her to a petting zoo and she is much older than the other kids. Her mom is talking to a friend she ran into so Amelia wanders off to look for horses after she has climbed a fence or two she is close to the stables when she runs into Trudy from school. They are not friends. Trudy tells her to stay away from the horses its her fathers farm but she can go see the stupid cows. One of the farmhand is carring a breifcase that looks out of place. The cows are heading straight for Amelia when she is hears this clicking sound and realizes its from the cows. She realizes all the cows are machines not animals. The cows chase her and then the chickens. But Amelia will save the world from being taken over by zombie animals.

Her next case happens after she has missed a week of school from illness. Their is a new music teacher that when she plays her pipe all the kids react the same, but when the bell rings they act normal. Amelia notices and takes actions again.

The third case is the new bakery in town. Their baked goods are all much bigger and a lot cheaper than the other bakeries in town.

Twin sisters that are really thin and dressed like fashion models on runways. So Amelia takes a look to see what they are up too. Saves the world again.

These stories are short that the young readers will like. The drawings are cute and tell half the story. Amelia takes notice of things around her. Uses her different costumes to not be noticed. I think the books will get kids interested in reading.

I was given this ebook in exchange of honest review.

Amelia Kidd is once again saving the world from evil geniuses and criminal masterminds. This time she is up against zombie cows; mad music teachers; and ex-supermodels turned bakers. With the help of her trusty backpack, crazy gadgets and truly terrific disguises, she foils her enemies plans for world domination time and time again. Always on the lookout for people carrying black briefcases (because evil geniuses and criminal masterminds always carry briefcases to keep their fiendish plans in) she protects the world day in and day out, even though she doesn't work for the government of anything.
Amelia is a fun character for those intermediate readers who may not be ready for Matilda just yet but want some adventure. With short chapters, these books are also good for emerging readers who want chapter books but are not ready for the longer fiction books. I recommend these books for ages 8 - 10.

Amelia, a nine year old finds herself at a petting zoo with her mother and numerous "little" children. Definitely an uncool place for a secret agent so Amelia went exploring while her mother spoke with an acquaintance that she recognized standing watching the small children and small animals. Amelia's senses drew her into a confrontation with a mad scientist intent on taking over the world. Would Amelia and her backpack full of secret agent tools be sufficient to foil this villain? Read this exciting action packed story that appeals to the children in each our imaginations.

This is a good book to recommend to our young readers with high reading levels. It includes three short mysteries, one about robotic animals, one about a music teacher, and yet another about two dastardly bakers with an evil plot. Amelia, a secret agent, and elementary school student, loves a mystery!

This is an upper elementary level reading novel. Definitely designed for kids because while I love YA, I thought this was not very entertaining. Amelia, the main character, wants to be a secret agent. In three different stories, she finds people that are trying to take over the world and then she stops them.

i like this book because she always stops someone who is about to do something dangerous like taking cats and using them to steal money.
