Thank you to the author for sending me a copy! This was aesthetically pleasing, but unfortunately none of the poems resonated with me. The writing felt clunky, didn't flow well, and needed significantly more editing, not only in structure but also down to the basics like grammar and typos.
I understood the messages of girlhood, coming-of-age, and life experiences, but the execution of the poetry felt like diary entries as opposed to intentional poeticism for the public eye. There were several lines that felt too on-the-nose when a few words could've been rearranged or replaced to create a more impactful metaphorical stanza instead. And the words that were used for metaphorical purposes, such as "pomegranate" "plague" or "white lace dress" were redundant.

Yes, I know it's self published, but there is also an editor listed on goodreads, so I was expecting more polished work.

"Hangs the obvious reply / like a fart in the air / but no one admits it" were lines that really made me question how much thought was put into these poems.

With that being said, I did really love the line in the poem "Imperanence II" that said "I dog-eared my favorite parts of you and annotated you raw"

There is potential present, and the craftsmanship of the book is beautiful.

A wonderful collection of poems. I really liked the layout aesthetic and thought it matched the poetry perfectly. My favorites were “Bruised Petals, Poison Roots”, “The Howl of Girlhood” and “The Bruised Purple Sunset”
