Complicated relationships abound in a number of disparate Greektown households, in Queen of romantic Suspense, Suzanne Jenkins' wonderful A Greektown Wedding.
Detroit PD Homicide Detective Jill Zannos, still on medical leave, is summoned to the first Greektown murder of the New Year - and the victim is someone she knows - attorney Azure Baker. Was the killer part of a love triangle/quartet? How did the victim and one of her lovers keep their other partners in blissful ignorance for a long time?
Twin timelines are intertwined, telling in present time and flashbacks, how each of the main characters involved came to play the part they did, in the prelude, enactment and aftermath of two womens' murders.
Love, hate, murder, jealousy and the eponymous wedding (x3) all happen in Greektown, Detroit, in A Wedding in Greektown, by Suzanne Jenkins...get it today!
I will give it 3. The story was fine and as always I liked the characters and writing but for an end of trilogy it felt rushed and a bit unsatisfying. The last part of the book seemed to be dragged out to make the book longer or something. I would be perfectly happy to read more about Jill and her family and colleagues.
As a metro Detroiter, I loved this series! Enjoyed a 'Greek' view of life. Written with a realistic viewpoint of life and love. The books will take you on a journey from life in the 60's (including how our parents lives spilled over into ours) through to modern times. No matter what generation you are, you will also love the accompanying story!
Wow what an interesting story very good author who introduced reader's to greek history, life style while adding in a bizarre murder due to one of the main charters being a police officer. Family dynamics and how this large Greek family demonstrated love, commitment, and hope. Will continue following this author
Did not like this book. There were affairs happening all of the place, there were weddings that were going to happen, called off, going to happen, swapping spouses, and then the book had so many charaters you couldn't follow them all. Maybe if I would have read the first one first it would have made sense but this was not the case.
Suzanne Jenkins wraps intense family dynamics inside a well-written crime drama in this fourth book of the Detroit Detective series while giving the reader an intimate look at Greek family life. She really has a way of bringing the story to life and making me connect with the characters.
This is a story about Greektown, a large family with Greek roots in Detroit. Family drama ensues nearly every day, people falling in love and planning a gigantic wedding with more than one bride and groom. Suzanne Jenkins writes the most beautiful stories and I recommend them all.
This was another fun romp with a huge Greek family. Many marriages in the family have failed, but several new ones take place, three on the same day. Murders are solved and arrests are made. A second gay couple finds their way into the family get togethers.
Wonderful continuation of the Greek town family. Jill Zannos, is a homicide detective, in love and ready for more. The whole family: her father, his brothers and sisters and cousins all give a great read. So looking forward to reading more!!!
Fantastic read with great characters and a good storyline. A big Greek family, which keeps up the family tradition. All have dinner in Sundays after church. (Also most of the time) . Divorces, weddings, murder, and babies. A definite must read
This was an okay book. Very confusing in the beginning, took a while for the characters to fall into place. Lots of grammar errors through out. Not one I will be recommending
I think reading books 1-3 would have been helpful......I had a hard time keeping track of who was who and who was related to whom. Good story line and some interesting Greek traditions.
This one had a few mistakes. Biggest one had me rereading Loc 1465, Patrice is being referred to as Miss Drew during an interview with Jill. When Drew is actually Penny’s last name. overall I really enjoy reading all Suzanne Jenkins books!
Adored it! The latest in the Greeks of Beaubien Street series that take place in and around Detroit and especially Greektown, this book ties up all the previous ones rather nicely and gives a satisfactory outcome for a great series. Of course it centers around a Greek family and all the intra family drama associated with Greek family life, but the main protagonist is also a Detroit City Homicide detective, and the series revolves around all the murders and mayhem associated with her job as well. I would HIGHLY recommend this book (and series) to anyone who enjoys a well-written mystery with some accompanying meat. Sex topics are openly discussed, but not in actual sex scenes, so it is also a comfortable read for those who don't want a bunch of sex scenes to have to wade thru.
