I truly wanted to love this book. I love enemies to lovers. But this book lacked a few things for me. It’s on the shorter side so I do understand that but I needed more information in spots that I just didn’t have. It does have some good spice and it’s an office romance which I did love. Definitely saw stuff coming but that’s most books. Overall it’s a good book I just personally needed more.
I started this book with higher hopes if I’m honest. The story was a little predictable but sometimes I like reading these types of books anyway just as something different than my usual reads. I liked the plot and most of the characters. I know it’s a short book but it felt like the characters never really got fleshed out. It was pretty superficial and it was hard to root for them. The FMC was a little annoying at times; it seems like she was always crying or feeling in the dumps. It might’ve been better if it was longer, and we were given backstories and whatnot. Overall, not bad.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Blame game. A dual POV tale with a Media mogul and an investigative journalist in the middle. The storyline follows an unexpected meeting followed by months with no contact. The next time this pair meets it is under even different circumstances. Set in New York City this is a story that plays out with plenty of mystery. Backroom deals, hidden agendas and corporate espionage at its finest. Despite the shroud of secrecy it is a fairly predictable tale. There are some fireworks but it ends as expected and as it should.
Prepare yourself for an emotional roller coaster. Imagine Elena's shock when her one night stand turns out to be her new boss. Their chemistry is off the charts and puts them in dangerous and reckless situations at the office. A page turner with twists. No shortage of family drama, betrayal, secrets, corporate sabotage, blackmail, custody issues, prior baggage and more. Lies and secrets exposed. An easy read with an HEA and no cliffhanger.
This was a fun second chance/dating the boss/fake deal story. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters were great. I just loved Liam. He is the CEO of a family company worth millions. Something is going wrong with the company and he hires Elena to find out what is happening. It is not just because he met her before but that also has his interest. Elena has secrets that she would like to stay that way. This was a fun read for a rainy day!
Skye is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and trust me once you start reading this book or any of her other romance books you aren't going to be able to stop. This book is not only addictive to read but it way exceeds a 5/5 stars. So, if this book isn’t already in your kindle, it definitely needs to be.
I really love Skye Hilton’s books. They are usually on the shorter side but that doesn’t mean that they’re shallow or flat. I really love her characters and stories. They are always full of plot twists and unexpected turns. This book is no exception! This was a great office billionaire, forced proximity romance, it’s great to read in one sitting with a nice cup of tea and some chocolate in a rainy day, het books always make me smile! I enjoyed reading it!
