Draw Steel: Book One – Heroes is the core rules volume for the Draw Steel roleplaying game system. It includes character creation, hero abilities, combat rules, negotiation and montage mechanics, and everything needed to begin running and playing the game, excluding monster statblocks, which are in Book Two.
As a long time critic of the actual game systems of Dungeons and Dragons, I was blown away by some of the clever game design present in Draw Steel!. They do a great job of yadda-yadda'ing the stuff that sucks like inventory management and providing in-game-mechanic narrative hooks. And bottom line, the combat is really well designed and a lot of fun to play.
