Lucy is the only woman I love. The only heart I cherish. But she can never be mine.

Life is danger, and life is pain. I learned that lesson at twelve years of age when my father and sister perished in flames. Lucy and I were the only survivors, she an abandoned little girl with pain in her eyes, tears on her cheeks, and steel in her heart.

I couldn’t lose her, so I lied about who we were, without knowing the terrible price we’d pay. Lucy and I became Barones, children of one of the wealthiest and most sinister families in Malus. I love Lucy more than anyone in the world, but I led her unwittingly into danger.

Our new family treads a dark and violent path, strewn with bullets and blood. Our true identity is a deadly secret. To protect my beautiful Lucy, I must walk the same path as our parents. To save her from a violent fate, I must arrange her marriage to someone else.

But seeing Lucy with another man’s ring on her finger unlocks feral instincts inside me. My desire for her is going to tear our lives apart, because I’m about to do something dangerous, reckless, and utterly forbidden.

I’m going to make Lucy mine.

Author’s Note: Forbidden Vow is a forbidden MF romance with dark themes, a jealous, overprotective, obsessed hero, and a sweet, clever virgin heroine. This is the second book in the Ruthless Arrangements series of arranged marriage mafia romances and can be read as a standalone. The story is dirty and delicious, so please read at your discretion.

MCs are in love since they were kids, but he slept around while she’s remained a virgin for him?

“I wanted you too, but I had to protect us.”
He protected her in OWs vaginas? How cute 🥰

From the burb - “I love Lucy more than anyone in the world,”“Lucy is the only woman I love. The only heart I cherish.”
“obsessed hero”

STOP THE CAP🧢

These authors really don’t understand the meaning of certain words…

Just because MMC saw the real potential OM for the FMC, he suddenly made a move? GTFO ✋😒

Romance? Depth? Yearning? Love? Pfff, where? Because definitely not here.
Why don’t they label their books as they are - smut with sip of their sexism.

“sweet, clever virgin heroine”
Can they stop with virgin FMCs?! 😫

Bunch of misogynistic c*ckquens of an authors out here…

─ ✦ ────
“I’ve been trying to kill these feelings. I date other girls, though never seriously, and never anyone who matters. Lucy thinks I’m pulling away and being evasive because I don’t care anymore, but that’s not true. Every time she touches me, every time she looks at me with those trusting eyes, my thoughts go to dark, heated places. I want things that are dangerous.”

Damiano’s expression grows stormy. His fingers dig into my waist. “You have a date? With who? You’re sixteen. I forbid it.”

(i’m losing it)

“I swear, I don’t have a date. No one has ever asked me on a date,” I say ruefully.
It’s true, and I don’t know if that’s because of my intimidating family or because no one at St. Peter’s likes me enough to ask.
He relaxes a little, but his eyes are still narrowed, searching my face. “And what do you say if some meat-headed, horny idiot asks you on a date?”
“I say, my big brother will kill you.”
“You’re damn right he will.”

“That every girl I’ve dated has been a pale substitute for the one girl I can never have.
But if I do that, we’re both dead.”

“I’m still a virgin. I was saving myself all these years for you, Damiano.”
“For me, my love?”
“Of course for you. I would have given myself to you years ago, after the kiss in the diner when I was sixteen and you were eighteen and covered with Sokoli blood.”
“I wanted you too, but I had to protect us.”
“In public you did. In private, I could have been yours.”
He nods bleakly, holding me tight. “I know that now. We were going to be found out anyway, so I wish I had kissed you the moment we were alone, and then all night long in my bed. If I could do it all again, I would have made you mine that night, and every night after.”
My heart aches for the sweetness we might have had together. “But now it’s too late.”
“It doesn’t have to be. Are you wet for me, Lucy?” Damiano whispers in a darker voice.

pls someone pass me the bucket 😷

"a jealous, overprotective, obsessed hero, and a sweet, clever virgin heroine"

if they've known each other since they were kids, why is she the only one who's a virgin?
"obsessed hero" but couldn't wait for her? why not make it dual Vs to be fair? why is it okay for mmcs to be with other women after meeting the fmc but the fmc has to remain untouchable waiting for him?

Abandoned at a meth lab as a child, Lucy has a chance at a new life, thanks to the quick thinking and persistence of Damiano.

Despite the Barones adopting them both, Lucy never truly fits in while Damiano is raised to one day become Don. Over the years, the siblings’ increasingly intense — and often perceived as inappropriate — bond only widens the divide between them, ultimately prompting their parents to arrange a marriage for Lucy.

So. much. yearning. Ahhhhh!! I knew there was an HEA for these two, yet I really wasn’t sure how we were going to get it. They made me feel all the feelings. That said, there wasn’t the typical bloodshed and spice I’ve come to expect from Lilith. Don’t get me wrong, it was still an enjoyable read. The stepbrother/adopted brother sibling trope is one of my favorites and this unique storyline is 10/10. But it would be a lie to say I didn’t miss the trademark violence and heat.

may this type of “yearning” never find me

This is just a note to me to never read this book because the emphasis on female virginity is getting old. Of course he sleeps around. The manosphere would love this book.

Overall, I really liked it. Damiano and Lucy’s story is tragic, but also so sweet.
Damiano was so protective and obsessed with Lucy. I couldn’t not like him. I loved how he stood up against their father and started including Lucy in the business after she told him how much she wanted it. He wanted her as his equal.❤️

The only thing that bothered me:
Why were they always caught doing it? First the sister, then the parents, then Lucy’s fiancé. That was so annoying. Like come on, after Ariana saw them, you would expect them to be a little more careful or to at least lock their door. Three times they were caught by different people who thought they were brother and sister, and Damiano always said that he’d take care of it. How? They think he slept with his sister. Did he really expect them to just accept that and move on? Of course it always got worse.😂
Even though it felt so dumb, it also made me laugh, scream and kick my feet, so I guess the drama made it more entertaining.

The crumbs from the other mafia family dons were so interesting too. I’m so excited for Christiano’s book, and even more for Rafiel and Ariana’s. I can’t wait for July.

tropes:
- mafia romance
- brother/ sister (adopted)
- forbidden
- secret relationship
- protective and obsessed MMC

quotes:

The city of Malus. Proud and deadly mafia families locked in a struggle for power. Protect your heart. Love is ruthless.

"Of course I love you. You’re my Lucy. You’re the only person in this world who matters to me. I’ve loved you since you were ten years old and too scared to eat breakfast unless I was holding you. I’ve loved you through every nightmare, every tears every smile. I love you so much it's killing me."

"We can’t kiss. We can’t be together. We can’t act on what we feel. But we can hold hands in the dark. And we can wait. However long it takes."

"Lucy is my fiery angel, raining death upon my enemies. She saved my life at the warehouse. She saves my life every night when she comes to my bed and chases away my nightmares. I can’t live without her. I can’t breathe without her."

You would think after getting caught trying to fuck your “sibling” not once, but twice you’d learn to lock a door. Do it when no one’s home? Go elsewhere? Do LITTERALLY anything to prevent being caught for a third time.

This was just okay for me. It was really short, and fast paced so I finished it fairly quickly. Started off so good for me but once they actually started to express their feelings for each other it fell off for me.

A lot of their shared moments were unrealistic. Felt kinda crazy that we spend the entire book worried about the dad’s reaction only for the book to end the way it did. The way he kinda just accepted their relationship after all that. Felt like a cop out. I don’t know. Ending was underwhelming/rushed after all that drama.

Lowkey only liked Lucy. The way she actually solved their problem while Damiano just kept getting mad her for being forced into a marriage she didn’t want. The way he was going to just let it happen after making all these claims of love and being his.

Enjoyed it enough to finish. And would definitely come back to read Ariana’s story. Super curious what her deal was.

Thank you for the arc copy!!

Man, this book was such a wild ride of emotions.

The forbidden dynamic between Damiano and Lucy was so intense that I could practically feel the weight of their secrets. Being adopted into a mafia family but never truly feeling like she belonged made Lucy’s journey so heartbreaking, and I was fully invested in seeing her find her place. The yearning was everywhere, and watching Damiano struggle between his duty as the future Don and his deep need for Lucy kept me on the edge of my seat.

The chemistry was absolute fire, though I did find myself wishing they were a bit more careful about getting caught! While the pacing was quick and a few moments felt a little rushed, the emotional payoff of seeing them finally choose each other made it all worth it. It was a bit lighter on the typical bloodshed than I expected, but the psychological tension and the constant "will they or won't they" energy more than made up for the lack of action.

What really sold me was Lucy’s growth and how she eventually demanded the respect she deserved. She wasn't just a girl waiting to be saved; she stepped up to lead alongside Damiano, which felt like the perfect resolution for her character. Even though the ending wrapped up a little fast, seeing them stand together against everyone else gave me all the feels.

It was a messy, high-tension journey, but I’m so happy they finally got their peace.

“Forbidden Vow” is the story of Lucy and Damiano.

The hero and heroine were children when they first met .. unfortunately they are orphaned the same fateful day.
They become each other’s confidantes, and falsely claim to be siblings in order to not be separated. Adopted by a mafia family who just want the boy, the hero forces them to adopt the heroine too so they can be together.

While the hero grows up to be their perfect heir, the heroine is the unwanted, hated daughter and stepsibling. The book explores their not so hidden attraction.

Honestly them getting caught doing the taboo in every second chapter, and getting tortured by various people got old really fast. This felt heavy to read, like I couldn’t stop feeling anxious for them and that’s not nice when I’m trying to relax with a book. The sex and hiding around got boring really fast because these two couldn’t lie or hide anything and I didn’t find it sexy that everyone kept walking in on them or using the heroine as a punching bag. Skimmed it.

I have mixed feelings about it. At the beginning, the story was really intense and exciting, and I honestly thought I was going to rate it higher than 5 stars if I could. But later, a few things started to annoy me.

First,I didn’t like the male lead that much but I didn’t hate it ,I usually love obsessed and kind male characters like you know mix btween red and green flag, but the way it was written here felt kind of cringy to me, not like other male leads I liked before.

Second, I liked the female lead’s personality but still not that much, sometimes she also felt a little not right to me I felt sorry for her but I don’t know it’s just like something missing in her character she was acting like teenager instead of grown adult. And one thing that really annoyed me was how every intimate moment between them got interrupted by someone entering the room. It happened like three times and started to feel so unrealistic because it’s impossible to happen every time

At twelve years old, it was already in Damiano’s nature to be a protector and to stay true to his word. By making a promise to Lucy, it bonds them together as inseparable as long as their secret is not discovered.

“I’ll be an asset. And assets don’t get discarded.”

Narrated in dual POV, Damiano and Lucy are balancing family demands while hiding their true feelings. When complications arise, Damiano and Lucy must make the ultimate sacrifice.

Though I liked the strength and determination shown by Damiano and Lucy, they also made risky decisions that accelerated their fate. Given the Barone family dynamics, the outcomes were limited and it affected parts of the ending for me. That said, I did feel immersed in the storyline.

Honestly I need someone as obsessed with me as Damiano is about Lucy 🥹 the things that guy would do and put himself through just to keep her protected and safe!
Although fake siblings their lives depend on ensuring nobody suspects otherwise yet they just cannot deny the connection between 🥰there’s some angst created as they move through fighting it to rolling with it and trying not to get caught….especially when they have some forbidden HAWT scenes 🔥 but as the adopted children of a powerful mafia family there’s expectations to be held and punishments when those aren’t met😬 yet the truth will always out and not necessarily in ways you’d expect or want so be prepared for some turbulence as they have to fight for their HEA - the one they deserve 😄

As soon as Lucy and Damiano’s story was teased, I knew it was going to be good. It had all the makings of a delicious forbidden romance wrapped in Mafia goodness. And to read the author’s note to find out where she got her inspiration from— You love The Borgias? Flowers in the Attic? Me too, Lilith. Me too. Forbidden Vow encapsulated the essence of what I wanted more of, but did it through Damiano and Lucy.

The story had been gasping for fear of Damiano and Lucy getting caught. Yes, I’m that type of reader. And though they are not truly related, that forbidden edge of their relationship is still there. Everyone else believes they are brother and sister. Each look of desire, each hug, and each kiss is risky—especially when eyes are always on them.

I loved how Forbidden Vow developed from beginning to the end. I loved that Lucy was not a weak character. She defended herself the best she could. And she wanted to be right by Damiano’s side.

The story is one that I know I will re-read. It’s just that good, and I highly recommend it.

This could've been amazing but unfortunately like in the other couple in this book I disliked the FMC taking charge just meh. I dint mind it when it's credible but not like that out of nowhere ...
I absolutely loved the beginning of the book and a little of the middle but then i got a little annoyed with this plot...
I needed more from it, I needed more of them together as an item , the spice was really good and there was good chemistry but the way they solved things wasn't as good as I assumed it will be TBH...
it was umbelievable and rushed
And there is no epilogue, not in the book, I dispite when the authors add extra bonuses by subscribing to emails and stuffs 🙄🙄🙄

OOooo this was SO GOOD!
Forbidden love, deep love.
What a complicated story these 2 have.
Fabulous characters, love LV books, they always draw me in and keep me hooked
My heart honestly broke for Lucy from the get go and things never really got easier for her as she grew into a woman, but she always had Damianos love, and damn did that boy love her just as much as she loved him... their love for eachother slowly turned into LOVE and OBSESSION as they got older, and those possesive moments were for good.

I would have liked to know for sure is if Damiano was a virgin or not, I assumed that maybe he wasn't but I dont think it was specified if he ever slept with any of his dates (as he was growing up and before he notices Lucy "in that womanly way")

**ARC Review**

I DEVOURED this in 24 hours and would have done it in one sitting if I didn’t work! This book was deliciously taboo in the best ways and I was absolutely sat.

I think this was such a unique mafia book considering these two were adopted into the family and obviously bonus because they aren’t related in the first place. 🤭

I don’t think I’ve read a book in a hot minute that literally had me gasping and jaw on the floor on numerous occasions! (Specifically something that happens not once, not twice, but THREE times… like please I was dying!!)

Overall I enjoyed this book immensely, the build up, their relationship and all the forces working against them throughout!

Perfect for readers who love:

- Adopted siblings (not related)
- Mafia
- Badass FMC
- Forbidden Romance
- Just the Tip 👀

It wasn't unproblematic, but I'm quickly becoming obsessed with the world of Malus, and I loved the unique twist of the taboo siblings trope.

Lucy and Damiano's tragic childhood pushes them together and they never want to let go of each other. When a meth lab explodes right next to them, killing Damiano's father and sister, protecting Lucy is the only thing he has left that keeps him going. So they lie to child protection services that they are siblings so they don't get seperated. Their lives change, seemingly for the better, when the Barone family shows up and wants to adopt Damiano to groom him to be their heir. But he refuses to leave without Lucy, so they become the Barone mafia heir and heiress.
As the years pass, the love and affection they feel for each other turns into something even deeper and they can barely hide the passion they feel for each other. But giving in means they are at risk of getting caught and if their secret is out, they are dead.

True, I'm sure all those doors had locks, they should have used it. Yeah, it's said that Damiano dated to keep up pretenses, but I think it's never actually told if he slept with anyone else.
And finally, yep, Lucy was badass, she solved their problems basically single-handedly, but kudos to her, I love me a strong heroine.
So it's another 5-star from me and I can't wait to read about the stoic Cristiano and his secret baby mama.

I was incredibly curious about how Lilith Vincent would handle the whole “everyone thinks they’re siblings” storyline, and she honestly exceeded my expectations. Since Lucy and Rafael are not blood related, the forbidden aspect came more from the way they were raised and perceived by everyone around them, which made the tension even more addictive.

I loved the jealousy from both characters, the obsession, and the emotional intensity throughout the entire book. Lucy especially made me so emotional because all I wanted was to protect her from everything happening around her.

This book completely consumed me while I was reading it. The moment I received the ARC, I could not put it down and kept reading whenever I had a free second. Lilith Vincent continues to be one of my auto-read authors because she always delivers exactly the kind of dark romance I love.

Synopsis:
After surviving a deadly tragedy as children, Lucy and Rafael are taken in by one of the most powerful and dangerous mafia families in Malus. Forced to live under false identities as siblings, they grow up hiding dangerous secrets while navigating a violent world filled with blood, power, and arranged marriages. But when Rafael is forced to watch Lucy belong to another man, his obsession with her becomes impossible to control!

Damiano frustrated me multiple times through out the story I felt like he was not being fair to Lucy a lot (why was she a virgin and you fooled around as you pleased if you loved her so much?)

Wow, I actually really liked this book. I’m usually not big on mafia romances, I haven’t read May and didn’t really love the ones I’ve read, but this one hit the spot for me. Maybe because I’m a SUCKER for adopted siblings. I ate this one up. I finished it in under 24 hours because I just needed to keep reading. There were so many points where I was anxious, parts where I was giggling and kicking my feet, moments where I was pissed..etc. Damiano is THE perfect book boyfriend. I literally love everything about him. I also loved Lucy, she’s such a badass. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it.

***4 "Together against the world!!!" stars***

"The lie I'm carrying is a deadly one. I fear what they'll do to Lucy if they ever find out the truth."

I was anticipating Damiano and Lucy's story since I've read the first book in the series!!!
The lingering touches, the lustful stares between a brother and a sister were making me all hot and bothered...
I love forbidden 'taboo' stories, and I love mafia romances!!!
These two were living a lie and that was costing them... each other!!!
I won't lie to you that I've loved everything about these two, but I enjoyed their ride very much!!!

"I brought us into this world, so now it's my job to shield Lucy from it."

Damiano and Lucy were met when they were 12 and 10... and they were bound by an explosion that took Damiano's family away...
From that moment, Damiano had lied to everyone that Lucy was his sister, cause he didn't want anyone to tear them apart!!! She had to stay by his side in order to protect her!!!
And then, they got adopted by a mafia couple and their lie became a chain around their throats that was chocking them all the time.... cause these two have fallen for each other and they had to pretend while they were dying inside.... Or else they would be both dead!!!

"I want things that are dangerous. I want to make her mine. And that makes me a monster..."

The thing is that these two didn't know well to hide their attraction for each other!!! Everyone around Malus had their suspicions for these siblings!!! LOL!!!
Their touching were lingering too much to deceive the ones around them!!!
And because of their inappropriate behavior toward each other, Damiano was forced to arrange a marriage for Lucy!!! But could he bare to see her with another man???
She was his!!! And he had to find a way to turn things in their favor, but he was trapped in a lie that could cost both of their lives!!!

"I did this. I saved Lucy only for my love to become a death sentence."

I liked both Lucy and Damiano!!!
Yes, there was intensity there and my heart was aching for them!!!
They were fiercely in love, but they were also pretending to be something that they were not...
Lucy was a beautiful soul and I liked that she was trying to change her destiny in every aspect!!!
Damiano was obsessively protective over her, but he had made many mistakes!!! I think that he could fight a little bit more for Lucy!!!
And yes, I hate their adoptive parents very much and their sister??? I have mixed feelings for her... but I have this feeling that we will see this girl again in one of the next books and I can not wait!!!
But first, I am impatiently waiting for Christiano's turn!!! I am sooo curious about him!!!

"You think I'm happy? I'm in hell, but I would suffer any torment to remain close to you, Damiano."

Forbidden Vow by Lilith Vincent, provided via Smuthood, was honestly one of the most addictive and emotionally chaotic mafia romances I’ve read in a long time.

This story follows Lucy and Damiano, who have spent years pretending to be siblings after Damiano convinced the Barone family to adopt Lucy alongside him when they were children. After losing his sister in a fire, Damiano immediately became protective of Lucy, and that protective attachment only deepened as they grew older.

However, despite being raised in the same household, the difference in how the family treated Damiano and Lucy was painfully obvious throughout the story. Damiano and the older sister were loved and accepted, while Lucy was constantly treated like the outsider and black sheep of the family.

That emotional imbalance added so much depth to Lucy’s character because you could truly feel how isolated and unwanted she felt for most of her life.

One of the strongest parts of this mafia romance was the emotional tension between Lucy and Damiano. They spend years trying to hide both the truth about not actually being related and the feelings growing between them. The secrecy, obsession, emotional conflict, and possessiveness made the relationship feel incredibly intense from beginning to end.

Damiano especially was the type of obsessive and protective MMC that completely takes over the story. Everything he does circles back to Lucy, even when the situation becomes destructive or dangerous.

Once the family discovers the truth, the emotional stakes become even higher when Lucy is forced into an arranged marriage. Watching her slowly realize the reality of how little her family valued her while simultaneously deciding to take back control of her own life made the second half of the book impossible to stop reading.

The arranged marriage storyline, betrayal reveals, revenge elements, family manipulation, and wedding fallout added so much chaos and emotional payoff to the story.

I also really enjoyed how the book ended, and honestly I already cannot wait for Crisiano’s story next.

I would personally recommend reading book one before this because it gives more background information about Adora and how she viewed Lucy and Damiano’s relationship throughout the series, which helps add more emotional context to certain moments.

However, if you start with this book first, I honestly do not think you will feel lost because each book still focuses mainly on different couples within the same mafia world.

Overall, Forbidden Vow was an emotionally explosive dark mafia romance filled with obsession, forbidden love, secrecy, betrayal, possessiveness, revenge, and intense emotional tension that kept me completely invested the entire time.

Lilith sure knows how to make a taboo read a deliciously spicy but full of yearning story!

I was so excited for this story, I’m always down for a taboo story and two kind of “fake” siblings that are not blood related but nobody knows sound so juicy!

I really liked the beginning of their story, it was heartbreaking and so painful but powerful… you understand the magnitude of their bond, it’s beyond words… I loved them as a couple of little kids clinging to each other in the middle of the devastation of their life, all to become a young couple who are fighting against the world to not lose the only person they love, even if that means lying to everyone.

This is a relatively short read so it’s fast paced and the plot is mostly character driven, with elements of mafia, taboo and a forbidden relationship it’s very entertaining!

I like them as characters but their decisions make me pause over and over again, the most evident one was the fact that they were a very forbidden item but forgot to lock the doors every single time… and yes, every single time they were caught. I was like people we need to be smarter than this! Because believe me, nobody was rooting harder for them than me!

Overall if you enjoy the excitement of a taboo read that is full of yearning and a forbidden vibe, you surely enjoy it!

I really wanted to love this, the first book of this series is fantastic so I was so excited to read this but this book annoyed me.
Lucy is incredibly immature, naive and dramatic. She comes across and petulant and manipulative.
Damianio IS obsessed with Lucy per the blurb but not enough to save himself for her the way she has, their relationship, how many times they got caught and expected people to understand got on my nerves.
This had the potential to be an amazing read but it just revolved around the MC’s, not a lot really happened outside of them and when it did, Lucy hadn’t listened and something went wrong.
Even the spicy scenes annoyed me because WHY NOT LOCK THE DOOR?!
Anyway, it’s more a 2.5 for me.

“Damiano’s ferocious, forbidden love is all I’ve ever craved.”

This was a forbidden mafia romance with bite. The taboo style of this romance was what dragged me in, but the writing was so lethal and cutthroat that I stayed for the ride.

This forbidden love story isn’t what you think it is, it’s so much better.

The intensity of these characters felt so real that you can’t help but be pulled into their story, and hating everyone who got in the way of it.

The only reason it wasn’t a solid 4 star was the ending felt a little rushed and it did feel like there was a lot unsaid toward the end, but apart from that, it was a great and solid original mafia romance.
