A hand-built tale with friends, fantasy, and a light shining home.
Tired of a life spent as a thief, Owyn leaves his partner in crime and his old life behind him to build something of his own. An invention, a building, and something bigger than his past all hide within the plans he brings to the capital city of Kudra. Owyn hopes to build a lighthouse, to be constructor and keeper. To be alone.
However, his simple dream of creating something of his own doesn’t come that easy. Owyn’s lighthouse is hampered by bureaucracy, overzealous citizens, a sheriff on the hunt, and worst of new friends who won’t leave him be.
A cozy fantasy set in A World Without Trees, and the debut novel by M. Cosmos Newstrom
Advanced readers "A great story of redemption, with such lovable characters!" "An engaging and compelling read... I had to stop myself from reading ahead to see what happens." "Representation of good and healthy male friendships."
Such a great story! From beginning to end, from hardship to triumph, the plight of Owyn fills you with all the good feelings. After setting the book down, you'll see the world in the light of how your past made you who you are, and how much others have helped you on the way. The world is brimming with stories, and I can't wait for the next one! (Also, for reals, check out the author's Substack, there are tons of stories!!)
This read exceeded all of my expectations! What a lovely story about persistence, friendship, community and grit. I loved getting to watch the characters build their relationships and work towards a common goal. It really shows the power of community and creates such a wholesome story. I can't wait to read what is next!
I had the great pleasure of getting to edit this book and I’m so glad I did. Fantasy is not a go-to genre for me, but this book reminded me of what I’ve been missing: exciting adventure, compelling characters, incredible world building, and all told with such an engaging voice. I can’t wait to read more from this word!
Quite a lovely read! A story of a man overcoming guilt from the past, and pushing himself to redemption harder than he could have ever imagined, with the help of a few heartfelt friends he meets along his personal journey. I’m not usually a big reader, but I found it hard to put this book down!! I can’t recommend it enough.
