A true slice-of-life adventure... And I absodamnlutely loved it!!!
This book purdy much has a bit of everything, training, learning, teaching, building, and fighting... a slice-of-life adventure. And I loved every minute of it. Since the war ended it's been an all encompassing struggle to rebuild Lionfang the city, the Fort and then building housing for the newly allied Northerners. Then reshaping the frozen lands into a fertile area, and surprisingly accidentally changing the climate to something more habitable for all life in the far north. And of course the frost labyrinth is there to explore, train, level while fighting ready made undead Frost Skeletons and their ilk. Oh and don't forget fighting people who are more monstrous than monsters.
Here's a few quotes:
“So, we’re basically learning how to almost kill ourselves safely.”
"Teaching her Overdrive felt a lot like strapping a grenade launcher to a shark, spectacular idea right up until it turned around."
“Yes! She puffed up her chest, shouted about surpassing the old ways, and then swung at me like a bear on fire.”
“Trust. You’re gonna get wrinkles before puberty talking like that.”
This is a great read. I like how you are the character and he does so many amazing things. He makes it believable since if he doesn't use an ability he may get "rusty". I don't see him having any close friends just people he works with. Hey, maybe his siblings will be like him too. They seem extra alert. There does seem either so many enemies or some of them may be one group. I guess follow the money.
