This book starts off strong and somehow ends even stronger. From the very beginning, the story pulls you in, and it never lets go. The emotions are intense, the twists and turns are perfectly timed, and the dual POV adds so much depth to the story. I was completely intrigued the entire time and didn’t want to put the book down. And that ending!!! A total mind blowing finale that is unexpected and leaves a lasting impression.
Wow! This is not a dime store mystery novel, this is a well-researched, murder mystery with a complex backstory.
JoJo had an okay childhood until her father went to the middle east. While that aftermath was bad, it was nothing compared to how her life was changed by Katrina. Paget also lost her parents in Katrina, but she healed; JoJo ran.
This novel is full of psychological aspects of the characters with strong character development. The reader understands and may even defend the antagonist I. This prescient movel.
TW: SA, murder, parental.death, confinement, neglect of a child, medical content/injury
“Cradle To Grave” by Angela McClintock is a gripping page-turner from start to finish! This taut and suspenseful thriller follows Det. Padget Ellington as she and her partner investigate a case involving an apparent serial killer. Meanwhile, we see Jo-Jo’s story; she went from her a stable home-life in New Orleans to a dangerous situation after the tragic death of her father. Jo-Jo’s situation is further complicated by Hurricane Katrina, which causes her to be separated from her close friend, Katie. The devastating events that follow for Jo-Jo transform her and put her on a treacherous path that will intersect with Padget. I highly recommend this thriller!
Cradle to Grave by Angela McClintock completely pulled me in from the start. The mystery is gripping, and the pacing keeps you hooked the entire way through. The serial killer storyline adds that constant sense of tension, and the detective aspect ties everything together really well.
What stood out most was how the trauma is woven into the characters it gives the story more depth and makes everything feel more real rather than just surface level suspense. It’s not only about solving the case, but also about the psychological impact behind it, which adds a heavier, more meaningful layer to the read.
I did kind of figure out who was behind everything along the way, which I think comes from being a psychology major and naturally analyzing patterns and behavior. That said, I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone else, because the journey of getting there is still very engaging.
it’s a solid, fast paced read with strong mystery elements, emotional depth, and enough twists to keep you interested from beginning to end.
4 🌟 out of 5 I had a blast reading this. This thriller reads so fast! The twist and turns kept me guessing. I found it so easy to binge read the whole book in a day. You will want to know what is going on behind every corner. The whole book will keep you guessing. If you are looking for a fast pace psychological thriller, look no further! This is the book for you! Great job
I read this as an ARC. I ate this book up. It follows the lives of two best friends whose lives took entirely different paths. Can detective Paget catch the serial killer that’s causing fear in her area. Can JoJo overcome her horrible past. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. Will defiantly read more from this author.
Need a fast-paced thriller? If so, check out "Cradle to Grave" by Angela McClintock. Josette lost everything at a young age, from her father's suicide to Hurricane Katrina. She lost her best friend and her mother. There was a lot of trauma and a friendship that ended in tragedy. I could predict some things, but not everything. It kept me super engaged. I enjoyed it.
This author has done it again… this is an emotional, heartbreaking read that keeps you on the edge of your seat.. there are so many ups and downs , and intense moments that keep you hooked from the beginning to the end. A must read for everyone….
I was so lucky to get the arc and read this book before I got released. This book had all the things!! Heartbreaking and kept me in the edge of my seat!! Was not a disappointment at all! I read this book in one sitting and would definitely read again
I loved this book! Are serial killers born or created through trauma? The author is very knowledgeable about trauma and how it affects people. I plowed through this book. Well written and an interesting and exciting read!
Cradle to Grave was a great, thrilling story. The story setting is in New Orleans, which, I don't know why, New Orleans just seems like a spooky, chilling place to me. Jo-Jo and Katie's friendship is formed through their shared hardships of life. But as hurricane Katrina is approaching, Jo-Jo and her family chooses to evacuate while Katie and her family choose to stay behind. In the end, staying or leaving. made no difference, they both still lost everything. Both girls lives took a turn that neither one of them ever could have expected. Years later, Detective Padget is put on a case to pursue a serial killer that is digging up unresolved pain from the past. The story takes out a cat and mouse dynamic when the serial killer becomes somewhat fixated on Padget. As she continues to investigate, buried secrets come to the surface. The story was very engaging and kept me wanting to read more . I really enjoyed the emotional depth combined with the thrilling suspense. This is one of those stories where, as the story continues, everything ties back in and comes together. It was enjoyable and I recommend giving this one a read. I can't wait to see what Angela writes next!
Wow what a heartbreaking, heart pounding, edge of your seat thriller! This is my 1st book by this author but definitely wont be my last. The way this story weaves two timeless was spot on. I could feel the sadness for a child having to see things and feel things no child should. I love the determination of the lead detective while the story also showcases her softer side. The twists and turns had me screaming as I was reading this book! If you enjoy thrillers that also bring awareness to mental health this is a must read!
