When Nettie Silverloop discovers a box of strange crimson yarn in her cozy shop, Yarn to Be Wild, she has no idea it carries a power far more dangerous than charm or coincidence.
As Nettie and her knitting circle begin creating a Valentine’s charity afghan, the yarn starts exposing hidden truths—old loves, buried regrets, and long-suppressed desires. Secrets surface without permission, pulling the past into the present and tightening its grip with every stitch.
But the magic doesn’t stop at revelation.
The yarn grows warmer . . . heavier . . . and more demanding. And Nettie begins to fear that once a truth is woven, it can’t be undone.
With Valentine’s Day approaching, a long-lost love resurfacing, and the magic threatening to unravel lives instead of healing them, Nettie must decide whether to stop the project—or risk discovering what the yarn will demand next.
A cozy mystery where love, magic, and secrets are stitched together.
Another enjoyable read about some doings in Quillhaven. This time the yarn shop, Yarn to be Wild is the centre of the story. The annual auction to raise funds to help keep people fed and warm is coming up and the knitting group, Cozy Loopers, decide to knit an Afghan. Nellie discovers some yarn she didn’t know she had which is perfect for the colour scheme. It has some magic as Leo and Luna confirm, but, they think it is a bit “iffy”. As the various people knit their squares, the yarn takes over in the way the pattern they thought they were doing got changed to something that was very meaningful to them. Magic that needed to be dealt with before the auction!
The Cozy Loopers were deciding on what to make for the auction. They decided on an afghan. Each one would make a section that represents them and then they would find a way to bring them all together as a cohesive piece. Nettie went looking for the right color of yarn that each could use in their section to help bring it together. She found a gorgeous shimmering crimson yarn. It was perfect and they all loved it. Living in Quillhaven the magic can come from anywhere at anytime and be either magical or dangerous. They soon realized this certain yarn had a spell put on it and it reacts to emotions and starts demanding the truth from all who use it. Luna and Leo are there to help them as they slowly come to understand what is happening as the auction draws near and secrets become weapons or freedom.
Heartwarming story of the incredible characters of Quillhaven.

In Knit One, Purl a Secret, Tessa Silver reminds us why we fell in love with the world of Quillhaven. What starts as a simple community effort to keep people fed and warm via a charity auction quickly turns into a mystical journey of self-discovery and vulnerability. The story centers on the shop Yarn to be Wild, where Nettie and the Cozy Loopers decide to knit an afghan for the annual auction. To tie their individual squares together, Nettie uses a shimmering crimson yarn she discovers in her shop—but as the talking cats Leo and Luna quickly suspect, this yarn is a bit "iffy." The sentient crimson yarn reacts to raw emotion, literally rewriting the knitters' patterns to reflect their deepest secrets. Watching the squares transform from simple designs into meaningful reflections of each character’s life was both intriguing and moving. The Cozy Loopers are a wonderful example of small-town support, and this book beautifully explores how secrets can be weapons, while honesty leads to a different kind of freedom. As always, Leo and Luna add that perfect touch of wit and magical oversight that makes this series a standout. This is an excellent, well-written installment with characters that feel like old friends. At this point, I don't even need to read the synopsis; I know a trip to Quillhaven will be a fun, fast-paced, and heartwarming experience. I’m already crossing my needles in hopes for many more books to come!
I received this book courtesy of Mrs. Silver and Booksprout for the purpose of a fair and honest review.
Overview: Nettie Silverloop, the proprietor of Yarn to Be Wild and member of the Cozy Loopers knitting circle, has found a special set of crimson skeins of wool yarn. It's perfect for the Circle's auction project, and afghan made of many knitted squares. There's just one problem. This yarn seems to want the knitting circle to share their hearts' secrets with everyone. Nettie has magic that works with textiles, but she hasn't run across anything like this before. Can Nettie and the Cozy Loopers solve the mystery of this yarn? Maybe with the help of Annie, Leo, and Luna. Will the mystery be solved before the auction? Or will the Cozy Loopers fail in their donation? Let's find out.
Dislikes: If you live in a town that is seeped in magic, why would you use anything that you could not account for? Yes, the yarn was pretty. Yet, look at all the pain and uncertainty that it brought out in the Cozy Loopers' lives.
Likes: Annie was quite willing to help focus on how to control the enchanted yarn.
Henry and Gus showed their love in the best way possible. I mean who doesn't appreciate coffee and cuddles.
The townhall meeting for the final plans of the winter auction was fun to read
Conclusion: This was a fun book. If you like a magical experience with your cozy mysteries, then this book is for you. Enjoy the read.
Crimson Yarn Trouble? I loved the dedication by the author that said to Maryann who taught the left handed author to knit ! So sweet ! The Foundation: The story opens with the Wednesday meeting at the Yarn to Be Wild shop and the Crazy Loopers are meeting. It's Nettie Silverloop's shop and she's getting tea ready for this favorite time with the group of knitters which includes gossip and companionship. It's an eclectic group: Mabel Crispin comes next and she has big "news" which the talking cats Leo and Luna wonder about. They always seemed to be around which was a good thing ! Amelia and hubby Arthur Jenkins come in next. He's just there to make sure she got there okay ; they've been happily married for years. Arthur heads to the hardware story to see Henry and his affectionate dog, Gus. Greta Bell and then Olivia Sweetwater and within minutes Martin Fitzgerald trails in. And then : Suddenly after finding some unaccounted for strange but beautiful crimson yarn; they begin to use it for personal squares to add to a large Valentine's afghan. That's when some REALLY strange things begin to happen. Is that yarn Alive? One of my favorite phrases is when Martin mentions that this town see to have a way of making you face things !! Great surprises and heart warming conclusions. I received an ARC from the author and this how I feel about it. P.S. Once again I loved the colorful eBook cover !
Nettie Silverloop runs the Quillhaven yarn shop Yarn to Be Wild. As the town's Valentine's Day charity sale approaches, her knitting group, The Cozy Loopers, decide to knit an afghan to donate to the sale, featuring special squares created by each member. Looking for a yarn to tie the squares together, Netties finds some perfect crimson yarn tucked away in the back of a storage closet that she has no memory of ordering. Each member has a skein of the special yarn to use in their square with enough crimson yarn left to knit all of the finished squares together. As each member uses the yarn in their individual squares, it seems to magically alter the designs they had intended. Is the yarn discovering their deepest secrets? How do the designs evolve on their own while being knitted? Why is the yarn mysteriously becoming warm… warmer… hot! Leo and Luna, the local magical talking cats of Quillhaven are as suspicious as Nellie about what is happening. How did the crimson yarn become enchanted? What do the knitters have to do to make the afghan safe for the community of Quillhaven? What secrets will be exposed? Meet some new friends and revisit with some old friends we have already met in other Quillhaven adventures. As usual, the book can be read as a stand alone cozy magical adventure, but it is so much more fun to follow along with the whole series. I received an ARC of this book, but my opinion is my own.
I absolutely love the magical town of Quillhaven and was so happy to get to visit again! This time it is at a yarn shop with a group of knitters and magical yarn.
This is part of a series but it can easily be read as a standalone; there are some references to previous books, and former characters, but she explains it enough you shouldn't feel lost. And of course, the best characters are Leo & Luna, the magical Siamese kitties!!
The writing is easy (though there was some repetition in a few spots) and it makes for a quick, easy read and I was very invested in what the characters were discovering on the afghan squares they were knitting.
As with all of these books, if you are looking for an intense thriller, this is not it; if you want a sweet, cozy mystery (with magical talking cats!!) this is your book!
I highly recommend Knit One, Purl a Mystery (yes, even as a crocheter 😉)! I actually recommend reading the whole series, but definitely this one!
(As a side note, for any who care, one of the characters is gay and, while not the main character, he is the next featured side character, and he is looking back on a relationship & trying to decide what to do)
I received this book free as an ARC book, but the opinions & reviews are mine alone.
My first book in this series and I l'm totally hooked. The concept of Nettie running her magical yarn shop, the yarn infused with spells and intentions for the crafter/user. What a creative and innovative idea. Leo and Luna are cat familulars of a resident Witch (Annie) and they keep tabs on the happenings about town. With the Cozy Loopers doing a project for the annual auction, those two are sure to be close by. When the Loopers start reporting unsettling happenings while knitting, it gradually becomes apparent that the yarn was anything but average. It's up to Nettie, with the help of her group, Annie, the cats, and any other's lending perspective, to figure out what the yarn desires and stabilize it BEFORE the auction. This leads to personal revelations in the Loopers' personal lives. They are a support system for eachother during this time, and it was refreshing to see the changes and strength they obtained along the way. I am excited to go back and read the precious books starting at the beginning, I got the whole series now. BTW- i dont feel that i missed out not having previous exposure to this series. If that opinion changes i will update this review. I was gifted a copy of this book and voluntarily provided this review. Happy Reading Y'all 📚
Leo and Luna, the magical talking cats, are back again. This time they are supervising Quillhaven’s knitting group, the Cozy Loopers. Planning to make an afghan for the Valentines Day charity auction, Nellie discovers some magical yarn in her back room, a perfect shade of red or Valentines. But the yarn seems to have a mind of its own. Each knitter finds that what they’ve planned to knit is turning out different. For Nellie, a guitar and rose appear – a reminder of her wild past when she was in love with a famous musician. It is also showing a wrench, a sign of the hardware owner, someone she is very attracted to. Each person ends up knitting something to do with there past and future loves. Although they knit what appears, there is danger around, the quilt isn’t happy. Leo and Luna are fully involved with their comments, observations and humour. This is a light, cozy mystery with many characters from previous books mentioned both in passing and as a main part of the story. It is an easy, quick, enjoyable read. Quillhaven is a fantastic, interesting town and I love this series.
Nettie Silverloop owns a yarn shop in Quillhaven and her knitting group will be creating a Valentine afghan for their donation to the town's charity auction. They will be using a mysterious box of crimson yarn that she has discovered to bring all the individual squares together, but there is something odd about this yarn that will soon be revealed! It seems to be magically enchanted in a way that when each square is knitted, the yarn changes it to expose personal private secrets that may be quite embarrassing (or worse) to the victim of the revelation. It seems to work somewhat like a mirror that reflects back what sometimes feels uncomfortable, not how we see ourselves, yet is nevertheless true. Should they stop working on this project to protect those whose secrets are being publicly exposed? Will they even be able to stop what is happening? Can Leo and Luna, the town's magical Siamese talking cats, figure out why this is occurring and how to put a stop to it? Because as Luna points out, magic this powerful doesn't just disappear because you've been honest -- it transforms... but to what? And will it be too late when they find that out?
There's magic in Quillhaven and that includes Nettie's yarn shop as well as two talking cats, Leo and Luna. Nettie loves her life here and enjoys her time with the Cozy Loopers, a knitting group that meets at her shop. The Cozy Loopers decide to do an afghan for a charity event, but they soon run into trouble, The crimson yarn they're using has opinions as it responds to emotion. Each knitter's square that is done with the crimson yarn wants to be revealed and faced with honesty. With the big day fast approaching, can the magic be transformed into beauty?
This has been an excellent series, and this book's no exception. It was well-written with well-rounded and likable characters. I was drawn into this captivating story and kept hooked from start to finish. This was an intriguing cozy mystery and a fun read. There was love and friendship as well as support from and a sense of community that is often found in small towns. This has become a must-read series for me, and I don't even read a synopsis. I loved this book and am hoping for many more to come.
The book follows a group of knitters, the Cozy Loopers, and the Yarn to be wild store owner Nettie Silverloop through and emotional journey. The Cozy Loopers have decided to knit an afghan as their contribution to the Valentine auction. Each member will knit a square that is representative of the their own style. Nettie thinks she has found the perfect skeins of yarn to finish off each square and the border. Little did she know the skeins have a dark enchantment. As each member begins to knit their square the images take on a different look. The yarn is wanting them to reveal their hearts truest secret. They must tell their friends and own that secret. The afghan becomes very volatile and they have the town witch try to use an enchantment to contain it. Will the afghan reveal all their secrets to the entire town at the auction? Will the afghan make it through the auction? At the auction, As each member holds their breath, the bidding begins. A stranger to the group bids the highest amount for the afghan and the truth about the yarn is revealed.
With Valentine's Day right around the corner, Nettie Silverloop and the Cozy Loopers Knitting Circle have decided to donate a special quilt to the Hearts and Hands Charity Auction. They decide that a quilt containing squares highlighting each knitter's unique style is the perfect thing and pulling it all together is a beautiful crimson yarn that Nettie found tucked away in her storeroom. But, it's a yarn Nellie has never seen before that seems to react with the thoughts and emotions of each of the knitters, affecting each of their squares in a different way. This is a wonderful book! The author builds each character, and their secrets and desires, in such a way that it keeps you involved from the beginning. I’ve read and loved every book in the Quillhaven Magical Mystery series, and this book is no exception! I’ve wanted to live in Quillhaven since I read the first book. I received this book as an Advanced Reader Copy and I am excited to leave this voluntary review.
Nettie Silverloop owner of Yarn to be Wild, her small yet cozy yarn shop in Quillhaven discovers a box of crimson yarn that she had no idea was in her storage closet; but with Valentine's Day approaching she and her knitting circle decide that it is the perfect shade for the charity afghan they will be creating. They quickly discover that the magic in the yarn will reveal secret regrets, old loves, and truths they may not be ready to admit. These characters are magical, have emotional depth, truths the don't want to admit even to themselves, and are so compelling that they dept me engrossed from the first page. I think this is a must-read with surprising twists and a happily ever after, or two, or maybe even more. I highly recommend this absolutely fantastic book to any reader of magical cozy mysteries. I loved it!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC provided by Book Sprout.
Nettie Silverloop owns the yarn store Yarn to be Wild. The Hearts and Hands Charity Auction is coming up and her Cozy Loopers knitting group decide they are going to make an afghan to aution off. They decide everyone of the six in the group will make a signature square that the rest of the adghan will be centered around. They each decide on their signature colors, but know they need a Valentines colored yarn to tie all the squares together. Nettie goes to look in her yarn closet and finds a box of crimson yarn that they all agree will work wonderfully. They soon find out the yarn is magical and it is pulling out secrets from them as they knit. As the magic builds they realize something dangerous is happening and they have to solve the mystery of the yarn before they can auction off the afghan. Loved this story based in the town of Quillhaven and seeing previous characters visit with the new characters.
When Nettie Silverloop discovers a box of strange crimson yarn in her cozy shop, Yarn to Be Wild, she has no idea it carries a power far more dangerous than charm or coincidence.
The books in this series are wonderful. The characters are fascinating, and the stories are spell-binding. The prose is poetic. I strongly recommend this series.
Amazon synopsis: As Nettie and her knitting circle begin creating a Valentine’s charity afghan, the yarn starts exposing hidden truths—old loves, buried regrets, and long-suppressed desires.
The Cozy Loopers are knitting an afghan for the Hearts and Hands Charity Auction. They each will have a signature square that will reveal a little more than they expected due to a magical yarn that was found in the storage closet at Yarn to be Wild. The yarn “revealed truths they weren’t ready to speak aloud.” The yarn wanted them to be honest with themselves and each other about what was really going on in their lives. The yarn was beginning to demand honesty in very strange ways. What was created was a “tapestry of love and loss, hope and heartbreak, past and present woven together in fiber and truth.” A wonderful story of friends who are secure enough to trust others in their group because they are all family in Quillhaven.

As you enter Quillhaven, you are instantly embraced by the warm, loving and supportive community. Their town is as enchanting as it is enchanted, freely sharing its magic with you. Knitting and I are definitely NOT companions, but the tale of Nettie and her stalwart group of Quillhaveners, The Cozy Loopers, have us enthralled with their brush with a strange yarn. Nettie is no stranger to magic, but a crimson yarn shows up… not offering up its whole story. The Cozy Loopers have a knitted blanket to make for an auction: they need to get on with it, but the yarn has its own agenda. Leo and Luna try to keep the humans grounded. Leo, of course, tends to run out of patience quickly, but Luna is very wise. And even Leo can offer sage advice (when he’s feeling in the mood). My biggest disappointment was not having the recipe for Caleb Rivers’s Lunar Lemon Muffins. They sound delish!
A fantastic addition to the Quillhaven Magical Cozy Mystery series that grabs you from the beginning. Nettie Silverloop owner of the yarn shop, Yarn to Be Wild has her knitting circle in the shop discussing a project to create a Valentine’s charity afghan. Wanting to find a common threat to connect each of the knitter's squares, she came upon a shimmering red yarn that she didn't remember even having. But as each of the knitters used this yarn, the knitting took on a turn of its own. What is the yarn revealing? What kind of magic is this? Leo and Luna sense that it is bad magic and something bad is going to happen. This is a page turning book that you just can't put down once you start! I highly recommend this book as well as the entire Quillhaven Magical Cozy Mystery series. I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
This is a story from Quillhaven and a community event that helps people with heat and food. It is a big event with most of the residents giving something to be auctioned off. This year Nettie at the Yarn to Be Wild yarn store and the group Cozy Loopers decided to knit an afghan with special squares that each of them would do. Nettie had found a box of crimson yarn in the back room that would give each a skein and some left over for the border, not knowing that it was enchanted. How this special yarn affected the group was definitely interesting. Great story and with the help of Leo and Luna the enchanted cats and their owner Annie everything turns out great. I received an arc and this is my review.
The Cozy Loopers have decided to make a group afghan for the town’s annual fundraiser. Nellie Silverloop the shop owner has found some red yarn in the closet that everyone will incorporate into their squares. The interesting thing is the yarn seems to carry a magic of its own. The yarn warms to the touch, it takes control of the design, and just generally doesn’t behave. Each knitter finds a story is coming out of their life. For some it’s simple and has already been shared for others it’s relationship that were left “unfinished”. The group learns that to complete this safely those relationships must be worked out and become shared knowledge. The ending is simply amazing. Don’t miss this one.
Knit One Purl a Secret is a very special Magical story about the group Cozy Loopers who create an Afghan for a Charity Valentine Auction. But they included a yarn which had a surprising linked magical spell. The group start to knit the squares but not all went as planned. Can Annie a Bookshop Owner and her Familiars Leo and Luna help them to uncover the hidden spell and neutralise it? There are many twists and turns throughout the story. But what will be the outcome? Excellent story and series that I thoroughly enjoyed reading very much and I highly recommend that you read.

I am always excited to dive into another Quillhaven mystery with Leo and Luna. I was unsure of how I'd feel since most of the characters in this book were much older than the characters in the other books. I adored this one. The love and support they showed eachother as a knitting group and let the secrets make their friendships stronger rather than tear them apart was probably one of the best messages of any of the books and the Leo and Luna banter was top notch. I am so in love with the town and only wish I could live there too! Another absolutely fantastic and heart warming story from Tessa and it leaves me anxiously awaiting my next trip to Quillhaven!
Knit One, Purl a Secret by Tessa Silver. I would highly recommend this book as the characters are so alive that you feel that they really are your friends. The Cozy Loopers is a group I would love to join and visit with. Leo and Luna are the perfect companion cats - I would love to meet them too. Yarn To Be Wild is a store that I would love to visit. The story pulls you in from the beginning and is thoroughly entertaining all the way through. It's wonderful to be able to discover everyone's secrets and why they worried about them. A thoroughly enjoyable read and could not stop reading it. Looking forward to the next book immensely.
I always look forward to a new novel in this series, and this one did not disappoint! Unlike the other novels, this one featured multiple points of view from a group of knitters crafting an afghan for a charity auction. However, the chosen yarn is magical, demanding truths be spoken aloud about their love lives, both past and future. I really liked getting to read from all the points of view in this book, and getting to know so many newer voices in the town of Quillhaven. The story itself was sweet, and it was lovely to get to see so many couples come together for Valentine's Day.

A sweet and cheerful magical cozy that feels like stepping into a warm shop filled with yarn, charm, and friendly gossip. Quillhaven is instantly inviting, the magic is soft and playful, and the mystery unfolds with an easy, comforting rhythm. The characters are warm, the setting is delightful, and the whole story has a gentle glow that makes it perfect for a relaxing afternoon. A lovely pick for readers who want a cozy mystery that keeps things light, whimsical, and pleasantly enchanting. Recommended. Many thanks for this digital copy, all opinions are mine.
Knit One, Purl a Secret is the 10th book in the Quillhaven Magical Cozy Mysteries series.
While this was still a mostly enjoyable story. For me, there were just too many variables and relationships woven into the story at one time. I'm okay with two storylines going at the same time, but more than three makes it confusing at times. Just as I start getting interested in one storyline, the story stops and jumps to another set of people.
This cozy mystery felt like settling into a favorite chair with a cup of tea, until the yarn started pulling at things I didn’t expect. I loved how the story explored the idea that truth, once spoken, can’t always be taken back. Nettie’s struggle felt very real to me; I’ve been in situations where honesty healed some relationships but quietly unraveled others. The magic was subtle, unsettling, and emotional rather than flashy, which made it feel grounded despite the fantastical premise.
