Yasmine built her dream from the ashes of her past.
August wrote his pain into bestselling novels… all about her.
Opening her bookstore was supposed to be a fresh start, a dream come true after surviving the kind of heartbreak that changes you forever. For years, books were her refuge, and one author in particular became of her past. His stories of loss, love, and survival spoke to her soul in ways nothing else could.
She never imagined the man behind those words would walk into her store. Or that he would be the college sweetheart she lost after the worst day of their lives.
Now a bestselling author, he’s spent years turning their shared grief into fiction, carrying her memory into every story he’s written. When fate brings him back into her world, he has only four days to face the woman he never stopped loving.
As old wounds reopen and buried feelings rise, they’re forced to confront the past they never healed from and the future they were too afraid to hope for.
B. Nicole Anderson was raised and still resides in the DMV area. She has loved collecting and reading books since she was in middle school. B Nicole’s mom would bring home random children's books and would sit with B while she read them out loud for thirty minutes daily. Her love for reading continued through her early twenties. Now in her thirties, her love for reading has returned, and getting lost in a fictional world is her favorite hobby. B Nicole has written many stories but never dreamt of publishing them, but with a little persuasion in 2025, she finally focused on writing and completing her stories.
She writes contemporary, urban, and paranormal black romance stories, with a uniqueness that makes you laugh, swoon, and cry, but her ultimate goal is to make you feel connected to the characters.
When she’s not reading or writing, she can be found at home in her mini library, binge-watching a show, traveling with her husband and three kids, roller skating, or on TikTok scrolling for hours.
This was such an enjoyable Second Chance Romance! August & Yasmine’s healing process was refreshing and much needed. Yasmine rebuilt her life by opening a bookstore, finding comfort in novels written by an author whose stories of love and loss deeply resonated with her. She’s in for a what some would say a pleasant (yet Yasmine may initially say not so pleasant) surprise from “the one that got away.” And let’s just say I loved their story of reconnection. Their history consisted of trauma & grief, so it was definitely an emotional ride. Overall I really loved this story, B. Nicole has yet to fail me.

First of all, I LOVE when a woman is healing and getting her life together, so watching Yasmine build her bookstore and stand on her own after everything she went through? Yeah, I was already invested. But finding out the author she’s been obsessing over is literally August, the college love she lost on the worst day of their lives? I was sitting there like excuse me?? The drama. The coincidence. The fate of it all.
The backstory had me emotional because grief and blame will really twist your mind, especially after something as devastating as a miscarriage. And do not even get me started on his parents because absolutely not. The audacity. Meanwhile August out here writing whole bestselling novels inspired by her and then pulling up in her bookstore like destiny just clocked in for work.
The Valentine scene? Cute. The pet names? Cute. The aquarium scene where they got caught acting up? HILARIOUS. This was second chance romance done in a way that felt tender, nostalgic, and actually earned. I closed it smiling. Four stars and I’m not mad about it.
ARC Review I love second chance romance. And I love a “I know what I want” man. Love how August not only showed up but stood on business. Intense therapy and journaling from a MMC was refreshing.
I’m officially in my feelings after Love Jones by B. Nicole Anderson 🖤
This spicy second-chance novella gave exactly what it needed to give.
What I loved most? The vulnerability. Both Yasmine and August felt real: messy, guarded, healing, and deeply human. This wasn’t just about rekindling a romance… it was about confronting the pain that shaped them and deciding whether love was worth the risk.
Yasmine may have had a tough exterior, but August? Patient. Loyal. Consistent. That man never wavered.
He saw her. He chose her. And despite everything she carried, he proved he was THE ONE and if we’re being honest, she always knew it.
This story beautifully explores how sometimes our pain can try to run the show… even when our hearts already know what they want. And I love a romance where the man is steady while the heroine works through her walls. It hits every time.
One of my favorite lines from the book: “Some hearts don’t break. They bruise. And some loves don’t end. They wait. They have to.”
This was my first read from this incredible indie author, but it absolutely won’t be my last.
Steamy novella about a second chance romance. August and Yasmine were college sweethearts who lost one another due to a tragedy they weren’t prepared for at the time. August was an ideal hero. He was steady, consistent, enlightened, and patient. This novella was too short. I would have loved to see more of their happiness in the future. The story definitely had explicit scenes and language so it isn’t for those who are squeamish. I enjoyed the writing style and this author.

This Novella was so cute! And perfect for Valentine’s Day. Yasmine is opening her brand new book store and has invited her favorite author. Come to find out, he’s a former lover, actually the love of her life.
The vibes of this book are second chance romance, after math of a healing journey, and Valentine’s Day in a book store (perfection). I give this book 3. 5 stars. The story was easy to read and the scenes were entertaining.

This was a nice novella about August and Yasmine reuniting after ten who years because she left him in the middle of the night six months after they had a miscarriage. I hate that Yasmine listened his father’s words that aided in her decision to leave August. August knew that Yasmine was his soulmate but he knew that she needed time to heal and grow so he just watched her from a distance until it was time to reclaim his Bea. Hopefully we’ll get another book from them soon with them being pregnant with twins.

This was a cute and sweet second chance novella. I rated it a 3.75, easy to read and fast paced. I enjoyed the dynamic of Yasmin and August, two book lovers finding their way back to each other after an unfortunate situation. As a Baltimorean I may or may not try to sneak after hours with the dolphins lol. I really enjoyed that spicy scene. I would really enjoy a full novel of theme because I wanted more.

August & Yasmine deserved their second chance. This novella provided a full story on the past and present. I enjoyed August’s character and how he knew Yasmine was worth it. Love a second chance at growth and love and August and Yasmine ain’t disappoint.
I love a second chance romance, and then they’re an author and a bookstore owner?! I LOVEEEE. Their love was so undeniable as soon as they got around one another. I love how they just picked up where they left off, and there wasn’t any huge beef about going separate ways.
Tysm to B. Nicole Anderson for the advanced review copyy 🫶🏾
I enjoyed this short, sweet, touching, second chance story. It was well thought out, well written, has strong characters with character growth. I can't wait for the continuation of August and Yasmine's story. You now have a new fan.
If you're looking for something short and written well, then this is one you should check out. I loved the characters and how they got back together. College sweethearts that reconnected as adults. I will be looking for more books from this author in the future and will check to see regarding their backlist.

Love stands strong through test, time or distance patience of letting the person go to heal. To be able to grow in a healthy relationship without guilt or fear.
