It wasn’t bad, but I think my expectations were a little too high especially after the author’s note at the beginning. This one was longer than Tasha’s other novels, yet somehow felt dry in spots. Some scenes were very descriptive when they didn’t need to be, while other moments that actually deserved more depth were brushed past too quickly.
The storytelling itself was solid, but it didn’t quite feel as riveting as the premise promised. I really wanted more emotional growth from Princess, and a clearer understanding of why she ultimately chose Nyles. On the page, their connection felt mostly physical to me, and his lack of a real apology was… very meh. Like you pushed her away cus of you and just came back w. D*ck and a vacay🥴🥴
I was also confused by the mom’s storyline. Her arc felt underdeveloped, and the logic was shaky if someone can forgive their kidnapper, why is Mom still stuck in a redemption cycle just for asking tough questions? Like if anything as a woman who made poor choices in the past and stayed with a man of questionable moral actually knows and understands the eventual cost of agreeing to a life like that soo yeah.
Overall, a decent read with good bones, but I was hoping for more depth, tension, and emotional payoff.

The story was interesting most of the time. The narrative was much the same for the proximity romance to follow when the arranged marriage failed. The story was decent.
I usually enjoy Thee Tasha Marie’s work and I was curious about the preacher’s daughter falling for the man her world warned her about. That contrast alone pulled me in. While I appreciated the dark themes and the risky dynamic between Princess and Nyce, this one just did not fully hit for me the way I hoped. Still a solid read, just not my favorite from this author.
I’d give it a 3.5. If you like darker romance with power plays and forbidden energy, it might work better for you than it did for me.
Imagine your father selling you to a corrupt politician to clear a debt only for you to get kidnapped by a crime boss on your wedding day to cover a whole different debt. Princess was being pulled every which way, but she was standing her ground, and I was proud of her. Nyce wasn't a bad guy; he was a boss trying to collect his money. I do think the romance between him and Princess was a bit lackluster. They had literally two interactions, and one of them was just sex. The gravity of their feelings for each other felt underdeveloped. Therefore, every action they took because of those feelings seemed out of place.
Gone Off The Preacher’s Daughter by Thee Tasha Marie had me hooked from page one.
I honestly felt so bad for Princess. She’s the daughter of a crooked pastor who serves sermons on Sunday and hell every other day of the week. When he arranges her marriage to a city councilman, you think you know where the story is going until the wedding is violently interrupted by a powerful street boss named Nyce. And from there? All bets are off.
What follows is a kidnapping that spirals into an enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, spicy roller coaster that I absolutely did not want to get off. The tension, the danger, the chemistry…it all hits. I found myself rooting hard for Princess as she navigated chaos she never asked for… and honestly? I was rooting for Nyce too 😂.
His energy was very much “touch her and die” from the very beginning, whether he wanted to admit it or not. That protective, possessive edge mixed with undeniable chemistry made every interaction feel charged.
This book is a true page-turner. It was entertaining, dramatic, emotional, and spicy in all the right ways. If you love forbidden dynamics, morally gray men, and heroines finding their strength in the middle of madness, this one is for you.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for a story that keeps you locked in and flipping pages. 🔥📖
Once I saw Preacher in the title I already knew there was going to be mess, and I am going to eat it up every single time. This story follows the FMC Princess; she is the daughter of a preacher and trying to have her own identity. Her dad is a preacher doing all kinds of illegal activities and also trying to arrange her marriage to a councilman. At her wedding things took a left turn, and she is kidnapped buy the most notorious Don in the city. From there things take off, secrets, lies, drama, and 2 people in forced proximity started to feel things for each other.
While I enjoyed the story, I didn't care for some of the POVs, you get the Preacher, the councilman, Nyce- the MMC, and Princess - the FMC. The chapters also had time stamps and days which sometimes had me confused on the time frame of some of the incidents.
If you love a forbidden, kidnapping to lovers trope, church mess, dirty pastor you will still enjoy this story.
So when I see the word Preacher somewhere in the title, I know 3 things about to take place, (1) the preacher is crooked, (2) it was going to be some mess going on, and (3) I was going to eat it up page by page. Gone Off The Preacher’s Daughter had me hooked (literally) from beginning ti the end.
Nyce was the typical “bad boy” who was emotionally unavailable and had a past that involved some kind of emotional trauma dealt by the hands of a mother. Princess was the typical “Preacher’s Daughter” who was looked upon to “save the family heritage” all while trying to find herself and her happiness. Nyce and Princess needed each other in a sense because they both found themselves trauma bonding. Princess set the foundation for Nyce to open up and let her in, now it was a hard thing to do because he was not emotionally ready for her or what came with her.
To end it, Nyce knew Princess deserved better, and he strived to be that better for her and ultimately himself. Love the character flow, the plot was not too predictable and left me feeling accomplished in reading this book without the feeling that I was robbed out of a good plot twist.
I enjoyed the kidnapping aspect and how he fell for the preachers daughter. However it was longer than it needed to be. Once these two got together, the story should’ve been over.
WHEW CHILE THAT WAS A LOT😳! THIS BOOK WAS FULL OF TOXIC, NARCISSISTIC CONTROLLING AZZ 🥷. ALTHOUGH PREDICTABLE AT TIMES THE PLOT TWIST KEPT YOU ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT WAITING TO SEE WHAT’S GONNA HAPPEN NEXT. I COULD’VE GONE THIS WHOLE BOOK WITHOUT THOSE VISUAL PICS 🙄 4 1/2 ⭐️
ZEKE WAS ONE SORRY AZZ EXCUSE FOR A MAN. LIKE THAT NINJA WAS A HUGE EXAMPLE OF WHY FOLKS STAY AWAY FROM CHURCH. USING GOD’S WORDS TO MANIPULATE AND CONTROL THOSE WHO BELIEVE INTO DOING WHAT THEY WANT THEN TO DO ALL IN THE NAME OF THE LORD🤬🤬🤬. HE SHOULD’VE WALKED AWAY WHILE HE HAD THE CHANCE 😔
DELUSIONAL DON🙄. THAT NINJA WAS THE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF A PERSON GET A KILL POWER AND LET IT GO TO THEIR HEAD. THAT FOOL THOUGHT HE WAS ABOVE THE LAW AND LEARNED THE HARD WAY.
ALTHOUGH I ROOTED FOR EVELYN ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE FINALLY WALKED AWAY FROM HER SORT EXPOSE FOR A HUSBAND. INSTEAD OF HER FOCUSING ON REBUILDING HER OWN LIFE SHE WAS TOO FOCUSED ON HER DAUGHTER PRINCESS AND HOW SHE CHOSE TO LIVE HER LIFE AFTER EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED TO HER🙄. SHE REALLY IRKED MY NERVES
NYLES "NYCE" & PRINCESS ❤️🔥. THE BEST PART OF THEIR STORY WAS THE FACT THAT THE MAN PROTECTED HER AT ALL COST. HE MOST DEFINITELY GAVE SET HER FREE SEVERAL TIMES. HE LISTENED AND SPOKE LIFE INTO HER. AND HE ALLOWED HER TO CHOOSE HOW THEY MOVED FORWARD IN THEIR RELATIONSHIP. HEALING WAS AT THE FOREFRONT FOR THE BOTH OF THEM. THEY BOTH HAD ENDURED SO MUCH CHILDHOOD TRAUMA AT THE HANDS OF THE PEOPLE WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO LOVE AND PROTECT YOUR AT ALL COST💔. FOR PRINCESS HER TRAUMA WAS STILL GOING ON UNTIL HE LEGIT SAVED HER. HE TRULY LOVED HER AND I LOVED HIS GROWTH 🥰
Zeke was a corrupt preacher and had made a deal with councilman Brandon aka Don, for money and power, in exchange for a bride in his daughter Princess.. he was much older but seemed to have been obsessed with her for a long time.. Princess, always a rebel, was disgusted with her dad and didn’t want to marry Don.. Zeke was a horrible person, and hid his wrong doings behind preaching the word.. he was self absorbed, a cheater than had another family and multiple other women, had a gambling addiction and owed too many people.. one of them being Nyles aka Nyce.. in order to get his money back, he kidnapped his daughter Princess on the day she was promised to marry Don.. Princess was so outspoken and that ended up being a turn on to Nyce.. they had a connection they both tried to deny and eventually ended up caving into.. Nyce got his revenge, unalived Don and paralyzed Zeke.. he went to counseling with Princess and now they unpacking all the trauma and are in love 🥰
I had to think of my review for a few days, mainly because I had no clue what to put lol.
I’ve read quite a few books from this author and I really did love this one but—the repetition in dialogue was overwhelming. “I don’t mix business with pleasure” yada yada yada. It was just a bit much of both Princess and Nyles going back and forth on him admitting that she was different and that what they had was more than business.
Don’t get me wrong the plot eats down, I just didn’t like all that repetitive dialogue throughout majority of the book. Now as for the other characters like her father and the ninja Don—I hate to say that they got what they deserved. Her father only cared about himself and his reputation. He would save himself first and throw everything before himself. Don was also another character that was so annoying. This obsession he had was borderline ridiculous. Both of them had skeletons in their closet that angled was ready to exploit.
Overall, I do think I would recommend for people to read. Off the plot alone because it was that good!
This was cool. Zeke was definitely trifling! I couldn’t be Princess though because idc how fine a man is if you kidnap me all that fine-ness is out the window! Even if I would have gave Nyles a chance it probably wouldn’t have lasted long. I don’t think I would accept sexual manipulation. Especially in this type of situation
The following are all the thoughts I had while reading this book so it may contains some spoilers:
Immediately no to his hairstyle. Idc 😂🙅🏾♀️
Not you doing all this while still living at home. You should have left to go pack your bags not take a nap! 😂😂
Yall really be having yall priorities fucked up. I don’t give a fuck how fine a man is! Once you done kidnapped me it’s fuck you! I might joke and be like “now if it was my celeb crush…if Winston Duke kidnapped me well then 🤪🥴..” nah it’d still be fuck him too! Because why would you kidnap me when i’d go willingly?😒😒😂😂😂
How you know she’s not allergic to shellfish?

Two sides of the same coin. Princess was raised to be a kept woman, treated like a bargaining chip to the highest bidder. The person who was supposed to love and protect her, her father put her in the most unforgiving situations, and that betrayal cut deep. Nyce, on the other hand, was forced to grow up fast, surviving the only way he knew how. Princess never folded when it came to Nyce, and Nyce couldn’t keep his hands or his heart off her. Their connection was raw, intense, and impossible to ignore. As for Princess’s father? He deserves a reserved spot in the deepest pits of hell for the way he treated both his daughter and her mother. And her mother’s anger felt misplaced because Princess simply did what it took years for her to do chose herself, walked away, and never looked back.
Coming from two different worlds and walking in your truth. Poor Princess was getting the short end of the stick no matter how you looked at it until she didn’t. Here momma only stood up when it put her at risk, then still was not willing to understand meanwhile she stood by and knew of all of her husband’s downfalls but was judging 👀, Her dad was a selfish piece of 💩, The mayor was just gross and we needed more of the back story of why he was so obsessed. I think this is my favorite trope and I stand by my Stockholm syndrome girlies, because how is it they are always coming out better than when the whole situation started? Nyce didn’t know what the heck was going on with him when it came to her but he knew he needed her more than he wanted to hold on to his old ways.

Gone Off the Preacher’s Daughter was okay for me. I’ve read stronger books by Thee Tasha Maria, but this one still had its moments. My favorite part was the last chapter—seeing Princess and Nyce choose therapy to work on their relationship after such a traumatic beginning really stood out. Considering Princess was kidnapped because of her father’s debt to Nyce, it was meaningful to see them acknowledge what they went through and intentionally work toward something healthier. Overall, it had a solid plot and showed their desire to build a stable, intentional relationship moving forward.
Nyce and Princess were such a good time. The story was written beautifully, but it was the pacing that really kept me locked in. Nothing ever felt like too much, and there wasn’t a moment where I felt disengaged. I still got the love, the yearning, and a fully developed story.
The kidnapper/preacher’s daughter storyline was done perfectly. The added layers of shady parents and the need for healing made the story hit even harder and gave it so much depth.
I’ve loved every book I’ve read by this author, but Gone Off the Preacher’s Daughter might just be my favorite.
The storyline itself was solid, but Princess's dad really irritated me he was shady and manipulative, and I hated how he treated her. Princess on the other hand was strong willed and I appreciated that about her.
The only thing that fell short for me was the banter between the characters. I think the dialogue could've been stronger but it didn't ruin the story. I also liked learning more about Nyce later on and getting insight into his past that part was heartbreaking.
Overall it was a decent read just not a standout for me.
This was a good read. I loved Princess and the way she stood up for herself. The way she was not backing down from nobody. The way she stood on her feelings!! Nice was that man... he ain't play about himself, his money or Princess!! The trauma he endured did not take away from how he showed love. He knew the things he went through made him who he was but the healing will be all on him. That damn Preacher and councilman was in too deep about something that did not belong to them. And that was both their problem. Overall really good book.
Princess was the good girl, always obedient and doing as her controlling and manipulating father told her. But when daddy’s past catch up to him, it’s either forced marriage or pay up. But when Nyce hasn’t gotten his money the pastor’s daughter is on the agenda. This story was amazing definitely a page turner with all the corruption and lies that was going on in the church and politics. I loved how Nyce and Princess eventually fell for each and was going to therapy working out their traumas so they can have a healthy relationship, loved the ending! 10/10🔥

Nyce and Princess were thrown together because of circumstances, but they managed to learn and grow from their "unfortunate" meeting.🤔 Ok, he may have had her snatched during a wedding she was against - so in essence he may have been owed a little thank you. This was a mess that I enjoyed. Zeke and Don got everything they deserved... almost. Women are powerful creations and Princess proved just how powerful a woman can be without even trying. I do hope to see more of these two because I think there were some things left unfinished. Happy Reading Y'all!💋
The romance/sexual angle between Nyce and Princess came out of nowhere. Princess seemed a little stupid to want to be with him, especially given the way he was with her outside of 'sex in the moment'. There was nothing about this couple that made me root for them. She seemed to be making the same bad choices as her mother. The best part of the book for me was the session with the psychologist and everything after that. It really showed how far they'd come and that they'd be ok going forward. That made reading the book worthwhile. Not one of my faves by this author.
This was my first book by this author and it definitely took me on a ride! I went in blind not knowing what to expect and my my my. 💜 This story played out like a movie. It was highly messy but very entertaining. Everyone was dysfunctional, most of the men were narcissistic trash and my jaw dropped a few times. 💜 This book hits on themes of crooked preachers, trifling politicians, arranged marriage, and dysfunctional family dynamics with some gangsta/crooked violence sprinkled in. It’s a whole lot that happened in these 200’ish pages. (4.25⭐️’s)
What started out as a kidnapping for ransom turned into love! Nyce was determined to get his money from Zeke and Princess was the pawn used! The more he held her hostage, the more his attraction for her grew. Her father was a snake wrapped in sheeps clothing pretending to be holy. Don the crooked councilman wanted to own her, in the end they both met with their karma. Her mother never accepted the relationship of her daughter and Nyce, but in the end they decided to give it a try for real. Vert good read!
I gave this book a 3 but I was feeling a 2.5 more. I have a higher rating because I really enjoyed previous books by this author. Maybe it was the book being so quick when I felt the background should’ve been fleshed out more. Also, the way Princess fell for Nyce after two days when they had their sexual interaction, you would’ve thought she knew him deeply from the way she was reacting. What I must keep in mind is that this is a book and although it’s not an insta-love story, it’s pretty close.
Oh, Nyce you were not what I expected. Your demeanor was not what you portrayed to Princess. You tried to be hard and unforgiven but she broke those barriers. Her defiance is what turned you on and I loved it. You freed her from the demons and ultimately her mother as well. Justice was served the right way because her father was trifling. Don gave pedo vibes.
The growth of Nyce was great because his truth and visions were deeper than the night unlawful dealings. We may need a follow-up on years later.
A corrupt preacher forcing an arranged marriage. A kidnapping trope. This has the ingredients to be a great read. It turned out to be an okay one for me.
There were some twists/details that kept it interesting.
However, there wasn’t as much depth as I would have liked in the relationship between the FMC & the MMC. It’s not just a sexual one (we do get deeper conversations about childhood traumas, and the introduction to the grandma), but we needed more to see why Princess fell for him so quick in that kidnapping situation.
Although this book moved very fast, meaning the timeline was a little unrealistic I enjoyed the book. I appreciate Princess not being afraid and standing up for herself when she first encountered Nyce.
Now her father and Don definitely got what they deserved. The fact that her father was so deep into nonsense and kept trying to sell is daughter was crazy and selfish!!
Overall solid book, wish it was longer but it was entertaining and the storyline was interesting and captivating.
This was a good read and I enjoyed it. Nonetheless, the overall story didn't exactly match the hype of the author's note/warning. I actually put off reading it for a while because the note suggested something REALLY heavy and I needed a little break. I appreciated the FMC getting her happy ending without a baby on the way giving the couple the ability to focus on growing together. The father and Don got off a little too easy but that father will definitely have something to think about for the rest of his days. If you like a little kidnapping and a MMC with power, this is for you;)
Gone Off the Preacher’s Daughter… hmm, what can I say about this? Nyce and Princess. I definitely loved the storyline of this book. It had a great concept. Sometimes during the book, I felt like we were missing parts or that the story moved a little too fast. But other than that, it had a great storyline. This is definitely a good read, a feel-good read, and an enemies-to-lovers book. So yeah, go ahead and give it a try.
The betrayal, lies, deceit, deception, and drama makes this a banger. From the cool, smooth, calculated ways of the MMC Nyce to the soft, sassy, intelligent, fearless FMC Princess this book has it all. I started and read all the way through this rough yet passionate slow burn. We should all thank GOD for praying grandmothers. Thee Tasha Marie delivers again.
