Ryan I had given up on having a future, but one breath of her scent changed everything. Maya Moore is mine. I don’t care if she’s my therapist, and she says it can’t happen. She doesn’t understand that Fate has made us inevitable. She doesn’t know that I’m an apex predator or that she has become my prey. I’ll keep to the shadows until I find a way to catch her and make her mine. And when I discover she’s a member of an exclusive club, where identities are hidden, and desires are indulged, it seems Fate hasn’t forsaken me after all.
Maya I’ve spent my life in control. There’s never been a soul I felt safe enough to let in. So why am I now drawn to two different men? The dangerously attractive client I’m ethically bound to refuse, and the mysterious masked man who fulfills my every fantasy but keeps his identity a closely guarded secret. Why am I so drawn to them both when I already know I can’t have either? Not when there are so many secrets I’m carrying and when being with me could lead to disastrous consequences.

Fiona is a therapist and author who combines her love of all things mental health and smut to create stories filled with recovery, tension, spice, darkness and light. Guaranteed HEA with every book.
i don’t know what magic fiona put in this series, but i’m so glad i gave it a chance! forbidden fate is the final book in an interconnected trilogy series and i stand by my opinion of it being the best one. the smut was smutting, the healing was healing, the found family was found- it was so beautifully done!
all of the lunar eclipse books are hot, but this one is absolutely the hottest. fiona really went all the way with this one and i absolutely love it! all of the books are amazing, and healing, and funny, and heartwarming, and perfect, and i highly recommend reading the first two so you can experience the masterpiece of forbidden fate and meet maya and ryan!
thank you so much, fiona, for an advanced copy of forbidden fate! available May 1, 2026 with fleeing fate (book one) and unwanted fate (book two) out now 💞
And she has done it again just wooow Fiona this one was even quicker than the first two read this in a day. Was so very lucky to be in contact with Fiona not long ago and I absolutely devoured the first two books. So was extremely privileged and excited to be given the opportunity to ARC read the 3rd one.
What can I say it was amazing again, this one follows Ryan the alpha of our pack who we have been introduced too throughout the first and second book but never really having his perspective. So this showed us everything he has been feeling throughout the series and my days you feel for him. As he seems to have given up completely. However in comes our absolute fabulous FMC Maya who is a therapist who after being so amazing with Emily in the first book comes along to help again and help Ryan deal with his issues and then some 😉 also finding out and learning more about Maya background that is left in secrets
Their romance starts off not on the same page well in actions but totally in their heads just need for them both to get there. So include a masked Ryan in a bdsm club and it’s starts off in an absolute whirlwind of emotions and the most glorious spice. Watching them all deal with all their emotions is just something completely special that not a lot of books have. And each book has done that. But even as we move along with the stories through the series… it shows how each and all the characters are still dealing and pushing forward to overcome all the bad stuff which happens to them. Which makes each and every one of the characters something special as you love and get attached to them all.
The story also continues with the keepers drama from both of the other books which tires in so well.
This is definitely more of a slightly unhinged romance than the first two with the stalking and everything that Ryan does. But it’s still just as good as the first two in a different way …. I have no idea how she does it … I don’t think she could top them but again I love this just as much as the others for completely different reasons again.
Shifters, romance, spice to the max, stories and some of the best characters which draw out the emotions which feel completely real what more could you ask for…. Absolutely incredible again and the epilogue was just a perfect way to end it
We left Ryan at the end of Book 2 on the brink of Moon Madness (solution: taking a chosen mate) but our dearest darling (stubborn) alpha wolf is waiting for fate.
In comes Maya, our trusty therapist that’s helped us throughout this whole series (😅 it’s been a lot ok) with Ryan’s first in person appointment leading to our boy comin on STRONG, much to Mayas horror. But all is not as it seems. Ryan knows it’s Fate, now what is he supposed to do???
The obvious answer… join a BD$M club, stalk her, and look after her of COURSE 🤣
I loved the surprises we learned about Maya, I laughed, I cried, I recharged my vibrator. While this book has more spice than the last one, we still have a satisfying plot that wraps up the trilogy.
We lost half a star for me personally as I found the pacing to be slow at the beginning with so many moments of me yelling at Ryan to JUST TELL HER FFS and then a bit rushed at the end where I would have enjoyed more angst and time in the drama of the end. Still a phenomenal read.
I would recommend reading in order but technically can be a standalone.

Add to your TBR if you like: - shifters - taboo / dark themes - dub con (related to her not knowing Ryan is masked man & her patient) - miscommunication done right (he’s stoopid and overprotective ok) - therapist x patient - dom x sub vibes - adopted rep - spice 🌶️
Please check your TW as they discuss, abuse, almost r-pe (on page), assault (on page), infertility feelings and misconceptions, breach of trust in dom/sub relationship and we're in the mind of someone with OCD so that could be intense for someone who regularly experiences this.
ARC Review: I finished this book in less than 48-hours! I devoured every word, re-read quotes, and highlighted the absolutely most feral things written into any book I have read. I cannot believe this series is not talked about more but fear not, I’m going to keep hyping it up because hot damn! This is a banger ❤️🔥 this is for the ladies who love shifters, and also love the vibes of Lights Out and Caught Up by Navessa Allen. You can’t not love this book or series. It’s impossible. Go read it. You won’t be disappointed.
I finished this book in one sitting, completely devoured it! It definitely had some darker and more unhinged themes than the first two books, but it was SO SO good! I adored how Maya set and held her boundaries, and Ryan as the MMC here was incredible (if a little crazy at times 😉) and so respectful whenever she drew a line. I loved how the couples from the last two books tied into this one and the feeling of found family was so incredibly strong. The spice was definitely spicing (3-4🌶️ on my personal scale) but didn’t overwhelm the actual story or the romance in my opinion.
Would 100% recommend it to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance ❤️ thank you so much to Fiona Rowan for writing such great books and for the opportunity to ARC read them!
Dark, intense, and emotionally consuming. Forbidden Fate leans fully into taboo tension and psychological intensity, blending it with paranormal elements that heighten the stakes even more.
The patient–therapist dynamic already creates a strong sense of boundaries being tested, and the addition of fate and supernatural forces makes everything feel even more inevitable—and dangerous.
This isn’t a soft romance. It’s built on: 🔥 forbidden attraction 🖤 moral conflict 🔮 fate vs control
What stands out is the constant push and pull between what’s right… and what feels impossible to resist.
It’s intense, uncomfortable at times, but undeniably addictive if you enjoy darker, boundary-pushing romances.
I don't know if it's me back in my shifter romance era or what, but I DEVOURED all three of these books in one weekend. I am talking about staying up till 4 or 5 in the morning because I had to finish them. I love forbidden and taboo romances, and by the time I got to this book I was so attached to all the characters and the different storylines that there was no way I wasn't going to finish this book. Highly recommend reading the first two otherwise I think it will be confusing and not as impactful diving straight into this one.
I loved how the MMC was obsessed with his woman and he just *knew* she had to be his mate. The devotion he already had to her was definitely overkill but I was here for it. Also having an FMC that has worked to be where she is today and working on herself while also being a bad ass mental health therapist made me love her so much. Dare I say I loved her more than Emily from book 1?? Maybe, they were both great.
The storyline was great as well. There wasn't a ton of world building but since this was the 3rd book in the series it doesn't really surprise me. And the plot twist wasn't really a twist because you pretty much see it coming with all the hints that are dropped throughout the book, but it was still interesting because it tied into the overarching plot that has made its way through all three books.
I can't wait for the next one to come out. Seriously, gimme gimme gimme!
I received an e-arc for my honest thoughts and opinions. Thank you to the author for giving it to me!

The world building gave us a city environment and the forest, a psychiatrist office and a shmex club! The plot is more than just the relationship between the main characters, there is multiple subplots, mental health representation, sisterly love between adoptive siblings, great spice and pack life.
🧝♂️ ℂ𝕙𝕒𝕣𝕒𝕔𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕤: Strong protective mmc and a worried, anxious yet assertive FMC make for a great combination. Then there are the side characters sprinkled in giving off best friend, sisterly love and found family vibes

⭐️⭐️ I managed to finish it but it was rubbish. I won't keep a physical copy and won't recommend it, but it's a shame as the plot could have made a good book in another author's hands
⭐️⭐️.5 It was OK. I wish I didn't start this one as it didn't do it for me as I struggled to read it. It had an interesting premise that fell flat but I had to see what happened in the end.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ I don't regret reading it, and I will read the next one, but this one did have a few flaws. [These could be repetitive writing, gaps or plot holes, better character growth or world building, areas needing more detail] Generally, the book lacked depth and became confusing. The plot resonated with me even though it annoyed me on the whole.
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 I'm glad I read it. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to the right people, but I wanted more! Sadly, it's easily forgettable with a few issues I just couldn't overlook/get past.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Good book! I loved it, but... I needed more! I really did enjoy it, but it had a few parts that needed more detail or added history/background or lore. But that's because the story or characters were memorable, and the plot was strong with brilliant twists. I would re-read if I needed to catch up for the next book and would recommend.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Great book! I truly wish the story had been thought about more, or the author had been given more time as this book is so close to brilliance! I will likely read again and will definitely be recommending it to all!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ WOW! Absolutely amazing book! Well written with great characters and a plot so memorable that it will stay with me. I will definitely read this again, I will be recommending it and sharing it with the whole world! Also- I NEED A PHYSICAL COPY!
🔥⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🔥 This is my God level tier. The book must be perfectly memorable. Even after reading 50+ more books, I will remember character names and emotions along with the plot. If there is a special edition, then I need to own it! If there is a conversation on books- I'm talking about this!
SPICE SCALE: 🌶️– segsual language and a little on-page action

I'm honestly just not ready to be done with them 😣 I knew Ryan was going through it, but I had no idea it was to the extreme level that we see it to be right from the beginning of the book. You don't technically have to read the other 2 books first but I highly recommend that you do. Each book picks up immediately after the previous and all the events run together/overlap and it's such a good ride going from beginning to end.
After his dad makes him promise to never settle for less than his fated mate Ryan has reached the precipice of literally going crazy. Ryan feels absolutely hopeless and his wolf is feral. They can't get on the same page and Ryan is actively fighting for control every single second. Being an unmated Alpha has driven him to moon madness. Sofia begs Ryan to try therapy as a last effort and because of this we get to see more of Dr. Maya Moore, the amazing therapist that helped Emily deal with some super heavy trauma in book 1. Starting with virtual visits Ryan finds himself less than receptive until Maya challenges his weak excuses for not wanting to put in the effort. After some time he moves to an in person session where he and his wolf know immediately Maya is their fated mate but not only that she isn't human. "She's everything I could have hoped for and so worth every agonizing second of waiting."
Maya was adopted as a baby and grew up in the human world blending in the best she could. When she meets Ryan Rivera he has such a strong impact on her that for the first time ever in her carefully curated life she questions whether she can blur the lines with her ethics. She knows she cannot entertain a relationship with her patient but she also can't help her fantasies that overtake her at the BDSM club she frequents on the weekends. When she meets a man in the club that is able to shut off her brain and give her things no one else ever has before she finds herself warring with how she can want someone she is forbidden to have while having someone that's allowed to hide who they are behind the required mask, not realizing they are one in the same.
So many amazing things happened in this book. I love how events tied back to the last book. I love how we got more history with the trafficking ring and there was information about how they handled things going forward. Ryan finding balance between the pack and Maya and living for himself for the first time in his adult life was beautiful. Maya finding the thing she had always wanted while being fully embraced by those that meant everything, ah so amazing. It was deep, it was impactful, it was so fkn filthy oh.my.gawd. 🥵🥵🥵 Ryan Rivera you dirty, dirty dog. I thought Luca was a dominant force who's words would melt you into a puddle. But omg RYAN. When he had the mask on I was like yes sir, whatever you say. Just like Maya I couldn't get enough, every interaction they had was 🔥🔥🔥 I'm really sad thinking this may be the last one in this series but I'll hold out hope we get at least one more. 🤞🤞
🐺 forbidden romance 🐯 therapist/patient 🐺 masked MMC 🐯 love triangle with two people 🐺 secret BDSM club 🐯 fated mates 🐺 mental health rep 🐯 dark themes/world
What an unhinged conclusion to this stunning world of shifters Rowan has created. Ryan and Maya deliver an obsessive, slightly deranged story of fated mates, moon madness, OCD and mental health rep, searching for identity outside who you’ve been raised to be, and delicious spice with so much k!nk you’ll be blushing behind your mask 😏
Ryan, the former alpha of Lunar Eclipse has had a major role in the previous two books as Fia’s older brother and Jackson’s best friend. He’s been spiraling mentally into moon madness as his wolf loses his battle with sanity at not finding his fated mate. When he agrees to therapy to appease Fia, he never expects the woman on the screen to be the one he’s been searching for. But Maya is a professional with identity issues (both from being adopted and being a shifter in a world that never taught her what that means), and she keeps her chaotic life in very tight order. She would never date a patient, no matter how handsome. Despite the pull she feels to Ryan, she’s also drawn to the masked stranger at the BDSM club she frequents (solo), and it takes her way to too long to discover why their scents are remarkably similar. 😏🤣
This story had a lot of angst and push/pull. Ryan is desperate to convince Maya to be his, and he’s up against it. It leads to some questionable choices by our MMC, and some very red flag behavior. Maya is frustratingly stubborn in her refusal to see what’s right in front of her, and holds on to her quickly slipping control with a death grip. I enjoyed seeing their story play out, though I saw the conflicts coming a mile away. To me, this story shined in how both Ryan and Maya grew as characters. Into trusting each other and themselves. The second really picked up the pace and was difficult to put down. The last 25%-30% was the real magic for me, with action as well as some much needed heartfelt moments between our MMCs. I loved the epilogue and bonus series epilogue, seeing all our fav characters 10 years down the road.
The spice wasn’t my taste, but if you like dom/sub dynamics with kink, then this will hit the spot. There’s a lot of it and it’s unhinged. Ryan and Maya both frustrated me at times, Ryan more so with some of his earlier actions feeling manipulative, but I was rooting for them and loved seeing their hard earned HEA.
I definitely recommend this series if you love shifters, fated mates, well developed characters who don’t gloss over their trauma but actually sit with it, and some pretty good spice.
Ryan is slowly losing his sanity. His wolf and him have been searching for his fated mate for years, and every day he can't find her, the closer he slips to madness. He finally accepts his sisters push to see a therapist, knowing he won't actually work on healing himself, put hoping this will get her off his back while he loses his mind. He isn't expecting the therapist to absolutely enthrall his wolf and himself though, and now he knows he'll stop at nothing to have her.

This is one of my absolute favourite shifter series. I love that we're finally getting Ryan's story from fighting off moon madness to finding his mate. Seeing him being his stubborn, sulky self, intent on letting his life slip away, into channeling that towards a mate who has no idea what she is, was so entertaining. The juxtaposition of Ryan being immersed in shifter customs, and expecting it to be logical to come on so hard, so fast, and simply not grasping how unhinged he sounded was hilarious.
Maya being a therapist hiding a dark secret from everyone, while also being inexplicably drawn to a patient who is clearly unwell, and desperately in love with her out of the blue made the dual POV so worthwhile. Witnessing her struggle with professionalism, balance, and trying to rationalize the pull of a client who seems to be projecting his need for a partner onto her, had me staying up so late to binge this one. Adding in the mix of her masked Dom, her desperate need to feel claimed and a sense of home, and her pushing down her nature for so long, had this book filled with chemistry, typical shifter dynamics, and a refreshing spin of human customs. I loved that we had realistic expectations of what a human would see as a red flag being pulled into the mix, so it wasn't just a rush to claim and be claimed in return. Maya instead viewed every interactions through her therapist lens of what she would and wouldn't accept, and what was and wasn't a healthy relationship, which had Ryan having to grow in order to support her in the way she needed and made for a beautiful story.
All in all, this was a fantastic shifter romance, with great, developed leads that fought for their HEA.

I was sent a complimentary advanced reader copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A depressed Alpha, a conflicted therapist, and a whole lot of secrets - this is Forbidden Fate.
Alpha Ryan is struggling. On top of the pressures of leading his pack, he has been unable to find his fated mate - and it is literally driving his wolf mad. After listening to the pleas of his sister, he starts therapy…and discovers his new therapist Maya is his long awaited mate.
There’s just one problem - Maya firstly cannot date her patients, and secondly has no idea what mates are. Ryan can tell she is not human, but she is clearly not a wolf shifter.
Maya has always been the one who cares for everyone else - from her adopted family to her parents. But she lives with a secret - there is a monster inside that talks to her. Normally she remains in control, but with her constantly increasing attraction to Ryan warring against her ethical obligations, she is hanging by a thread.
The one place she can be herself is the exclusive BDSM club she belongs to - and there’s a new masked member who smells very familiar…
This was a great forbidden romance. Maya had strict professional boundaries that she was determined to abide by, but paranormal fated pairings don’t really pay attention to HR. I liked that her struggle to remain detached involved admitting she had feelings for Ryan, and that she was always ready to call him out on his red flag behaviour. Her internal conflict also lasts longer than a couple of pages.
This is the third and final book of the series. There’s a quick recap in the front for anyone attempting a stand alone read, but I really recommend the whole series.
Given this story involves fated mates and a BDSM club, the spice is unsurprisingly very hot. There are multiple extended scenes that begin relatively early in the story.
This book has multiple potential triggers and it is worth checking the list. It does include descriptions of kidnapping, suicidal ideation, depression, stalking, dubious consent, infertility, adoption, forced breeding and trafficking.
If you want a nuanced paranormal romance trilogy that deals with some great characters in tough situations, I definitely recommend the now complete Lunar Eclipse series.
Fiona Rowan has delivered a dark, high-stakes paranormal romance that is both deeply unsettling and incredibly healing. Forbidden Fate takes the fated mates trope and throws it into a blender with psychological tension, intense power dynamics, and a mystery that keeps you hooked until the final page. The story follows a wolf shifter struggling to balance his primal nature with a world that feels increasingly out of his control. His anchor is his therapist—a dynamic where professional boundaries aren't just crossed, they are vaporized. The "forbidden" nature of their connection creates an immediate, crackling tension that only grows as the story unfolds. Adding to the complexity is the FMC’s secret identity. Without giving anything away, her hidden past adds a brilliant layer of suspense; you’re constantly wondering how much she’s revealing and what happens when her secrets finally collide with his shifter instincts. Why It’s a 5-Star Read The inclusion of a masked stalker elevates this from a standard romance to a pulse-pounding thriller. The "who is watching?" element provides a constant sense of dread that perfectly complements the supernatural themes. This book is high-heat and unapologetic. The dom/sub elements are handled with care, focusing on how power exchange can be a path toward structure and safety for two people who have felt powerless in their own lives. Beneath the spice and the shadows, this is a story about finding one's self. Both characters are navigating deep-seated traumas, and seeing them use their fated bond to foster genuine emotional recovery is the true heart of the book. Forbidden Fate is a whirlwind of dark obsession and redemptive love. It perfectly balances the "touch her and you die" energy of a possessive shifter with the delicate, nuanced work of emotional healing. It’s gritty, it’s super spicy, and it is easily one of the best paranormal romances I’ve read this year.
I received an advance copy of this book from the author. This review reflects my honest opinion.
I went into this as book three in a series without having read the previous books, and I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to follow as a standalone.
This story leans heavily into themes of desperation, grief, and anxiety, which gives it a darker emotional tone than I expected. Ryan, in particular, stands out as a character driven by an almost overwhelming need to find his fated mate. That desperation, combined with his struggle to control his wolf, creates a constant sense of tension throughout the story.
Maya’s character adds another layer to that tension. Her internal conflict — not fully understanding her own nature and fearing what she might be — makes her feel vulnerable and complex. Her strong need for control, along with her struggles with cleanliness, adds another dimension to her character and highlights just how much Ryan disrupts her carefully structured world.
The dynamic between them is intense and, at times, frustrating in a very real way. There were definitely moments where I just wanted to shout, “just talk to each other!” — but that push and pull is also what keeps the story engaging.
The book delivers plenty of spice, with a strong undertone of tension and control in their interactions. Let’s just say… Ryan does not hold back when it comes to dirty talk 😏 As a reader you really are “strapped in” for the ride.
That said, while the story is engaging and well written, I did find myself wanting a bit more. I would have loved more tension, more unexpected twists, and slightly higher stakes in certain moments.
Overall, this is a compelling and emotional paranormal romance with strong character dynamics and plenty of intensity. It kept me hooked, even if it didn’t fully reach that “I need to reread this immediately” level for me.
First of all - a big thank you to the author and publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and rate this ARC!
This was a bit of a difficult rating for me, partly because I absolutely ATE UP the first part of the book but felt it didn’t really evolve organically but rather felt a bit forced, partly because the style of writing isn’t really my cup of tea. I felt that I as a reader was told what to feel or how to interpret certain scenes rather than the author setting the scene and letting me feel and see for myself. If that makes sense?
Anyhow - I did enjoy the read (especially the first part - yikes 🔥🥵). Three solid stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
So what’s it about? Ryan is the alpha of his pack and desperate to find his mate, or he will succumb to moon madness (ie go completely feral). He feels drawn to his human therapist, but when he approaches her in person and says he wants to spend his life with her (after like 4 online therapy sessions) she kindly (or not so kindly) tells him to fuck off. Not gonna lie, I liked it. Because honestly, for a human that’s insane and any other reaction from her in that moment would probably have made my eyes roll so hard they’d get stuck backwards 🙃
Maya continues to struggle with her feelings towards Ryan because of her position as his therapist (ethical issues smissues) while feeling but not understanding the pull of the mate bond. However she manages to get some of the tension settled by a masked stranger (😏) while Ryan continues to try and win her over.
More stuff naturally happens, hot stuff but also sad and dangerous stuff that ultimately ends well. Not gonna spoil it for you!
If you love shifter romance with a heavy dose of kink and spice, this is for you! 🔥✨
Have you ever seriously contemplated using a “sick” day to call into work so you can stay home and finish devouring a book?
The third and final book of The Lunar Eclipse will have you feral and needing a doctor’s note, signed by our FMC Maya (of course), to stay home and read this addicting story.
Fiona’s books never disappoint. They are insightful, focusing on trauma, inner demons, struggles and how they may be presented by the individual. The healing and self discovery every single character experiences is so beautifully done, while the way the story is presented allows you to connect to each character and feel every single emotion. Allowing you to be fully invested in the journey.
Throw in some shifters and other fantasy elements? Abso-freaking-lutely. Run, don’t wait for the full moon to devour this.
Ryan is on the verge of allowing the moon madness to overtake him. He’s strong, determined and dominant. However without his fated mate he is loosing the battle with his wolf. He seeks out a therapist who helped Emily in book 1. He got so much more than his needed therapy sessions.
Maya is struggling with control while battling the voice in her head and is desperate for belonging and answers. She escapes to a club every weekend to express herself, little does she know her masked man she is drawn to is also her patient.
The tension was thick. The spice was turned all the way up. The journey towards healing and answers was painful and rewarding. I’m obsessed and so sad for the series to be complete now. The series ended well without any unanswered questions and left you completely breathless in the best way.
This will be the next most talked about series in the bookish community! Bet on it.
This, undoubtedly was a 5/5 for me. Fiona Rowan, I NEED MORE!!! I read this in one day. ONE! I'm trying to find the words that can convey what this book made me feel.
If you haven't read the first two, you are missing out and while I understand you do not have to, you would feel the story so much more if you did. This book will take you on the ride of your life. Ryan and Maya are some of the best characters I have read this year. I should have known their story would just take the ultimate spot in this series. I can only hope and pray that Fiona continues this world. The plot in this one was so family oriented and with the darker aspects of it really pulling through in this one, it hit the emotional button for me.
This story starts basically right after the events that happened in Unwanted Fate. Ryan's story is challenging, complicated and you just want to root for him to make the right choices. You see his devotion from the jump and like any stubborn headed alpha, he thinks he knows what's best. Maya is truly his match. Maya's character is one that I wasn't expecting but I was on board from the JUMP. Her character was the right kind of surprise. Maya is strong, controlled and challenges Ryan's wolf in the best way.
I could go on, but I dont want to spoil anything. What I will say, is if you thought the spice in book two was fire, this was a damn blaze. Ryan and Maya's chemistry was so hot, I had to take a pause and just.. give thanks to Fionas mind.
If you like, fated mates, masked men, stalker, patient x therapist, shifter, and a possessive MMC, this is 100% the book for you. You will NOT be disappointed.
Plot: 5/5 Spice: 5/5, Ryan can call me whatever he wants, good lort.
My favourite shifter series ( not even MC, I know!!!!!) Oh Ryan , alpha of the pack and still his mate hasn’t shown, determined that it will be a dated mate or none after his mum walked away from his dad , her chosen mate, him and his sister when she met her fated mate . His Dad is a shadow of his former self and passed the alpha crown to Ryan, he’s a good Alpha but the moon madness is setting in, he needs to take a mate to stop it . He was convinced that when they found the missing omega wolves she or he would be among them but alas she wasn’t. He agrees to Sofia setting him up an appointment with the therapist that was so amazing with Emily, it’s online so why not. His Wolf recognised his mate instantly but she’s human, how would that work? Doc , the font of all knowledge says it has happened but as fated mates? I’d like to blame the onset of the moon madness that turns the once serious straight as a die ex alpha ( he turned it over to Sofia) in to stalker mode , I internally shouted “no Ry!!!!! What are you doing man?” a lot The object of his obsession, Maya , was hard to take too. Despite getting to know her history pretty much when she does I couldn’t take to her. My heart broke for her, finding out her bio family were vile ( excluding her mother), I loved how her adopted parents and sister were so supportive of her and truly loved her but sad that her extended family never accepted her really . I didn’t dislike her I just felt indifferent, however I did see how she fitted in with Ryan, like that missing puzzle piece. Maybe she’ll grow on me. Errrr the bit of news that was kinda slipped in the epilogue about his Dad was a sneaky one Fiona !!!! I’m intrigued ( and now you have to read it to find out where those breadcrumbs lead )
I went into this thinking I wouldn’t love the therapist/human x shifter trope and much as I loved the tropes of book two but boy was I wrong. The amount of information is perfect, Fiona has this way of describing things to make them relatable. The club was a tiny twist for me, definitely didn’t see that one coming but I think it’s one of the things that made this book so interesting. Fiona has really managed to perfectly continue in the same world but give it a twist to somehow make it an entirely new story.
If you’ve read book 2, you already know a little about the main characters. This book really dives deeper into their personalities and learning about the different type of shifter? Amazing! So much new information to give and Fiona delivered. She managed to create a tiny world within the existing world and gave us all we needed to make it believable, which is what I love most about this book. It’s always relatable, believable, real. As much as fantasy can be real, obviously🤣
So the plot was amazing, also 1000 points for the character growth and weaving the FMC into the existing world. The storytelling/writing did it for me though; Fiona has such a clean and clear and flowy writing style, never using too many expensive words but never keeping it too simple. I’ve been crazy busy this week but somehow still managed to fly right through and finish this book in two evenings.
A huge thank you to you, Fiona. The minute you have a new book waiting for ARC reviews please let me know, your books remind me of why I started reading fantasy in the first place 💗
I could have told you from the tropes alone that this would probably be a 5 star read for me. So happy to be proven right! This is the third book in Fiona Rowan's Lunar Eclipse series - a contemporary fantasy/shifter universe. It is a standalone, and the first that I've read by this author. She makes it easy to enter this world by beginning with synopses from both previous titles. It is a dark world where omega shifters have been trafficked, abused, and at this point in the story, rescued. The pack alpha is suffering a mental health crisis due to his failed search for his fated mate. He's no longer able to control his wolf and has locked himself up for the safety of his pack. He reluctantly gives in to his sister's request to seek professional help, only to discover that his therapist is his fated one.
Maya, the therapist, has no idea that her new patient Ryan is a shifter too. As an adopted shifter of a human family, she has no clue that other "monsters" exist. Ever since her first and only shift at the age of 14, she has worked tirelessly to suppress her animal. She uses all the tools in her therapist's arsenal to maintain control. Add in a secret identity at a BDSM club, some light stalking (by the MMC), and an undeniable, but unethical, pull towards her new patient, and you've got a shifter romance unlike any that I've previously read. I was captivated. Now I absolutely MUST go back and read the first two books because I've fallen in love with this world, the characters, and the author's way of weaving a tale.
Tropes:
Fated Mates Therapist x patient Secret identity BDSM club Obsessive MMC Mental health rep
I was blessed enough to read this story as both a beta and an arc reader, so believe me when I tell you I was hooked from the get go. Finally being able to read through Ryan's POV was an absolute gift and one that was well worth the wait. It saw previous knowledge slap harder. My heart literally ached for Ryan and his wolf, the writing is so on point, I don't think I have ever wanted to hug an MMC more than I did him.
But let's not sleep on our FMC Maya, instant love from me, her and Ryan's interactions gave me life and their combined stubbornness was a joy to read. Maya also comes with her own intrigue from Ryan's POV and from mine too. Questions build up, leading to the anticipation of discovery. Fiona truly knows how to tease her readers in all the best ways.
Reading Forbidden Fate was a roller coaster of emotions, visceral in the best way, leaving me on the edge of my seat, absolutely desperate to know that everyone would be okay, that situations would work themselves out in a positive manner.
Damn was this book spicy, the hottest one written so far and entirely necessary for the story. Meaning such scenes felt like a natural progression and not forced, leaving me absolutely feral for more.
Also getting a glimpse of how our Emily is doing from Unwanted Fate continues to prove that healing isn't something that happens overnight, a reminder we all need from time to time.
Ryan's story is one I have looked forward to from the beginning and not only did Fiona deliver, she surpassed my hopes for his book and wrote a story far better than I could have anticipated.
I was completely unprepared for this story. Ryan was patient and kind with Maya, and I admired that. Maya fell in love with him because of his patience, love, and understanding, even though she had no idea why she was drawn to him.
Ryan is a loyal, powerful, stubborn, and obsessive man who has been searching for his soul mate for a very long time. He finds her in an unexpected circumstance just when he's about to give up. He joined Maya's kink club in order to be close to her and have the opportunity to touch her without her knowing who he is.
Maya is a strong, kind, understanding, and supportive woman who longed to let go of all control and meet someone who would embrace her for who she is. Until she meets the man from the kink club, at that point she gives herself over to him due to how she is drawn to him. She ignores the tiny voice in her head that constantly tells her to stay with the masked man and give him everything, yet after spending some time with him, she struggles to understand what draws her to him. Even though Maya is unaware that Ryan is the man under the mask, their bond is strong from the start.
The attraction, the patience, the push and pull, and the time spent together were all amazing. Besides that, the kink and spice were phenomenal. I'm overjoyed that Ryan has finally found his fated mate.
If you're searching for a paranormal romance that has twists, secrets, and spice, I highly recommend it. As well, read the first two books in the series to gain a greater understanding of the storyline.
This book had me feral in the best way. I am obsessed with Ryan and Maya. This book is HOT and I am here for alllll the spice!
“Watching how gone for you I am. Seeing how I dominate your body, but you dominate my fucking soul.”
I devoured Maya and Ryan’s story like it was oxygen. The masked, hidden‑identity tension executed to perfection. The “I should walk away but my body already knows him” energy? Even better. And Ryan, this man is a wolf in every sense. Unhinged devotion, barely leashed control, that constant sense that he’s one breath away from giving himself away. I lived for it.
The therapist/patient dynamic is handled with emotional weight, not shock value. It’s messy, intimate, rule‑breaking in a way that feels rooted in who they are rather than just the trope. Maya’s internal tug‑of‑war is so real, and Ryan’s quiet obsession with her hits that exact sweet spot between dangerous and tender.
And the club scenes? The D/s dynamic? The way the book uses power, trust, and surrender as part of their emotional arc? *Chef’s kiss* It’s not just spice for spice’s sake, it’s character development disguised as heat, but holy moly is hot! I blushed, giggled, and swooned… a lot.
The twists actually twist, the reveals land, and the final unmasking had me clutching the book like it personally betrayed me. If you love shifter romances with tension that simmers, secrets that hurt, and a MMC who would burn the world down for the FMC, this one absolutely delivers.
A huge thank you to Fiona Rowan for the early copy!
I’d give this one a solid 4 out of 5 stars. I went into it not entirely sure what to expect, but it ended up being a really enjoyable read overall. The beginning took a little time to hook me, but once things got moving, I found myself pretty invested in both the story and the characters.
The characters were probably the strongest part for me. They felt real enough that I actually cared about what happened to them, even when they made decisions that had me questioning them. The dialogue flowed well, and nothing felt overly forced or heavy-handed. There were a few moments where the plot felt a bit predictable, and a couple sections that dragged slightly, but nothing that pulled me out of it completely.
The romance and the spice was done well in my opinion. It didn’t feel like it was just thrown in to check a box, and it actually added to the connection between the characters. The chemistry felt natural, and while there were definitely some more intense moments, they didn’t take over the story or feel out of place. It struck a good balance between emotional development and physical tension.
The ending felt satisfying without being overly perfect, which I appreciated. Overall, it’s not a flawless book, but it’s definitely a solid read that kept my attention and left me glad I picked it up. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for something engaging with a bit of romance mixed in.
🐺- Alpha Wolf Shifter 💖- Fated Mates ♀️- FMC With a Secret Identity 👀- Stalking 🎭- Masked Man 💏- 2 Person Love Triangle 🌶️- Taboo Relationship 🌆- BDSM Club 🩷- Therapist X Patient
OH BOY! Let can you start out by saying that I am so sad that this is the final book in the interconnected trilogy series. I have loved this whole series and I'm heartbroken that it is over. You can bet your bottom dollar I'm going to buy it in paper back and read all three of them multiple times. Anyway this one was about Ryan and Maya. Ryan is the alpha of the pack and he has been mentioned in all three books. Ryan has a lot of issues though I will say that's why he started seeing Maya who is the therapist for help. Once he smelled her he automatically knew that she was his faded me. She just did not know he was a predator and she was now his new prey. Until one night Maya went to a secret Club and that's when Ryan decided to mask up and take what was his. I love that this is an absolutely sexy unhinged paranormal Romance. I do think this book is one of the wildest of the three which is freaking amazing. I love how Fiona does her characters they're absolutely that's so realistic. I love how she builds her paranormal/supernatural worlds. It's like she brings everything on the paper that she writes to life so that you can visualize it as you read it. Overall this was an amazing paranormal romance and I loved the way it ended.
“Now I need you to touch me, hold me, and never let me go”
This is Book 3 in the Lunar Eclipse series. I highly recommend reading books 1 and 2 prior to this one as there is a lot of context and backstory you will need to fully understand what is occurring in “Forbidden Fate,” but it can be a standalone if you prefer it to be.
This book….THIS BOOK.
Forbidden Fate is, hands down, my favorite of the series. We follow Ryan, an Alpha wolf suffering from Moon Madness from not finding his mate, and Maya, Ryan’s therapist and a woman who has never embraced who she is while simultaneously not understanding that she is not alone.
Losing control is never easy for someone who always has control and that is what makes Maya and Ryan’s relationship so very interesting. As a therapist, Maya has a set of rules she abides by. As a shifter, Ryan doesn’t give a shit. Human rules do not override Fate, and shifters do not follow the same code as humans. But what if there was a loophole for them? What if there were secrets that were never supposed to be unsurfaced that would negate this moral code? What if there was an exclusive club where identities were hidden and pleasures were acted upon where those rules were unknowingly pushed to their limits?
If you like a story with fated mates, shifters, stalking, masked men, and LOTS of spice, then “Forbidden Fate” needs to be moved up on your TBR.
Tropes first because this one?? DARK, OBSESSIVE, and DELICIOUSLY FORBIDDEN 👀🐺🔥
• wolf shifters • fated mates 🖤 • therapist x patient (taboo 👀) • masked man MMC • stalking / “you’re mine whether you accept it or not” energy • secret identity • two-person love triangle
Yeah… I was hooked IMMEDIATELY.
Forbidden Fate leans HARD into that dark, obsessive, fate-driven romance—and it does not hold back 👀🔥
Ryan?? Completely unhinged in the best way. The second he decides she’s his?? That’s it. Game over. Protective, possessive, and fully convinced fate has already sealed the deal 🐺🖤
And Maya?? She’s trying SO hard to stay in control… but the pull between her and both versions of him?? Yeah, that tension is EVERYTHING 👀
The dynamic?? Absolutely addictive.
You’ve got the forbidden therapist/client line, the mystery of the masked man, and that constant push-pull of want vs shouldn’t—and it just keeps building 🔥
And the way everything overlaps?? The secrets, the identity, the connection… When it starts clicking into place?? SO satisfying 👀
✨ This is a 5⭐ because: • the obsession + fated mates combo is done SO well • the tension is constant and addictive • the MMC is dark, intense, and unforgettable • the plot keeps you hooked with secrets and reveals
✨ If you love: • dark paranormal romance 🖤 • morally grey, possessive MMCs • taboo relationships • masked identity / double life vibes • “he’s dangerous… but only for her”
This one is intense, addictive, and impossible to put down 👀🔥
Forbidden Fate was such a lovely end to a series. Let's start with the dedication. Yes, just yes. "To all the good girls who just need to feel seen. And who love to be watched." Fiona Rowen is probably one of the few authors I have read that starts her books off with a recap. Fiona recapped book one and two which was so helpful for me considering I have read the other two as they came out and it had been a little while.
Maya has so many responsibilities in life to her patients and adopted family that she is unable to worry about herself. Ryan slots into her life perfectly to be able to take on that responsibility of taking care of Maya without over doing it. With being adopted Maya was missing some very key information about herself that Ryan is thankfully able to help her uncover and learn how to process it.
This book has a real slow start to it with Maya rejecting any advances from Ryan but when the action hit it came quick. We experience some masked men, bdsm club and a Dominate and submissive relationship. There was a good balance of spice versus the story line.
One of my favorite things of Fiona Rowen's series is the claiming. I love that there are formal words that need to be said before the bite will be accepted and that there is no accident, heat of the moment claiming.
This was a great series overall and I am a little sad that it is complete.
I received an advanced copy of this book from the author to be one of her Arc readers. I had not read the first 2 books when I applied but I am so glad I decided to apply anyway because oh man were these book phenomenal!! I loved book one and the twists and turns it took with the fated mate situation. Book 2 had me crying my eyes out for our strong alpha female lead trying to show the world how strong she was but also needing support. Book 3 had me blushing and kicking my feet!!
Spoilers ahead…
Forbidden Fate, Lunar Eclipse book 3 was not only a work of art but also so spicy good! Ryan, or my new favorite DOM, is struggling with mental health issues in the beginning of the book as he is struggling to find his mate and his inner wolf is going crazy because of it. His family convinces him to start therapy and that’s how he meets his mate (and therapist) Maya. Maya grew up in a human household and doesn’t know anything about being a shifter or how to recognize that Ryan is her mate. Ryan has to work hard to get Maya to push past all her engrained human beliefs and see what being a shifter is all about.
I love how Fiona being a therapist herself has put so much care and thought into the mental health of her characters and writes them so well, with so much growth! I will continue to read Fiona’s books and hopes she comes out with many many more

Ryan, suddenly is faced with taking on the Alpha role after his father relinquished the task. This new role forces him to accept a mate, which he has not been able to find. His friend Luca and his little sister, Sofia, try to contain the wild uncontrollable wolf inside Ryan, but it is difficult since Ryan has given up, and has lost his will to live.
Sofia, Ryan’s younger Sister, is desperately trying to get her brother Ryan out of his slump. She is frustrated that he will not take a mate, and he wants her to take Luca as a mate, and together they can run the pack, while Ryan drifts off into the sunset.
Dr Maya Moore, a therapist, is anxious about meeting a new client via Teletherapy. She understands the clients sister has made the appointment, which is unusual all in itself, but she tries not to judge. All she knows is Ryan, a CEO, is struggling with his mental health. Maya definitely has empathy for her clients and feels she will be of help to him as well.
When Ryan and Maya meet, the air around them changes in many inexplicable ways. Follow their journey with this very well written shape shifter book. The characters are well thought out and have backstories that are both fascinating and magnetic.
I found this book to be enchanting and extremely fun to read. I hope you agree. Enjoy!!
I received this arc book and the rating is my personal opinion.
