Life has become a blur of magic, potions, and blood-soaked battles for Lisa Rae Robbie ever since she fled the Kingdom of Boolavogue on the day they buried their King. Her role as the Agapéd Bearer, the Slayer of the Fallen, was supposed to end the day he died, but the immortal magic stayed with her. Lisa doesn’t understand why.
Fate brings a new Chairman to the Magic Embassy, and he wants to work with Lisa, reinvigorating the Embassy with the Agapéd Bearer by his side. The only problem is Lisa’s heart: It hasn’t healed from when she last defeated the Fallen four months ago
Begrudgingly, Lisa agrees to be guarded by three soldiers until her heart is healed. They are nothing more than her bodyguards—certainly not friends. But as Lisa’s nightmares resurface and her past comes to haunt her again, these three soldiers may be the ones who finally help her vanquish the terrors binding her soul.
Embassy Saints is a magic-spilling story of redemption, marking a new epic beginning in The Agapéd Bearer Saga.
Hannah Lindsey is the author of the Agapéd Bearer Saga, a YA coming-of-age fantasy with a wonderful mentor/mentee, the chosen one, and found family trope. And of course, tons of magic.
Hannah also illustrates her story and characters, showcasing her artwork on Instagram (@hmnnah.art) and on her website hmnnahart.com.
She lives with her husband in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee.
ARC Review: Thank you so much, Hannah, for an early opportunity to read this book!!
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5/5
• t r o u p e s • 🫂found family ❤️🩹healing & overcoming grief ⚔️monster slaying 💕SUPER sweet romance 💫powers + potions 🌱protective MMCs
Note For New Readers: You can read this book first, or start with book 1. If you start with book 5, you’ll just miss a lot of the story and not fully understand the characters and magic system.
💜m y • t h o u g h t s💜 The Agapéd Bearer is one of my favorite book series of all time! I was overjoyed to chosen as a member of the cover reveal & ARC team for Embassy Saints, so thank you so much, Hannah!! I will try and share my thoughts as spoiler-free as possible. Going into this, I have to admit I was very nervous. After the ending of book 4, Dreyma’s Curse, I had no idea how the characters (and I) would move on. But I have to say, Embassy Saints quelled my fears and the ending almost brought me to tears ❤︎ Lisa is discovering a new era of her life, so Embassy Saints definitely feels very different from the rest of TAB. I admit my favorite book is still Hunter Wars, but I have a feeling the boys—Kole, Jecht, and Yuj—will continue to grow on me in the books to come!!
🌱t h e • c o v e r 🌱 Oh my goodness. This has got to be my most favorite cover of all time. I MEAN LOOK AT IT. Hannah’s art keeps getting better and better and I absolutely LOVE IT. Especially the fact the boys are on there… 🥹 They look so good.
✨t h e • s e t t i n g✨ As always, the galaxies, planets, and magic of Lisa’s world are always so vivid and beautiful! I loved getting to explore new planets (and even some of the Keeper’s homes we haven’t seen yet!) Oni’s billet was so cozy and fun, the perfect place of healing for Lisa’s heart. Of course, the Double Sky chapters were beautiful as Hannah promised, but I think my favorite setting was… well. I can’t say, but if you read the end of the book, you’ll know 😌 (AND I’M SO EXCITED FOR THE NEXT BOOK!!!)
🌸t h e • p l o t🌸 Ugh, honestly, it was so bittersweet. If you read book 4, you’ll understand what I mean. There’s a lot of grief Lisa has to deal with, and it kinda broke my heart all over again. I was mad at Lisa for some of her… choices and decisions (but I mean, that’s Lisa Rae Robbie for you 😀) and I almost expected her to be more upset about certain things… But each person deals with grief differently, and of course, in the end Lisa’s heart is healed… and so was mine 🥹 The three boys really brought a whole new dynamic to the series that I’m super excited for in later books!! There were so many funny, cozy little scenes with Lisa and the guys.
💫 t h e • c h a r a c t e r s 💫 As always, the new (and old) characters of The Agapéd Bearer are so fun, and full of depth and personality! We got to meet some new characters like Stregobor, and of course Jetch, Yuj, and Kole! The boys were so sweet, and literally just who Lisa needed!! Of course, our long-term TAB fans will be looking forward to the Gaius and Lisa reunion… and I can assure you it’s everything you’re looking forward to.
Kole Kole is probably my personal favorite. He’s such a rigid and stick-to-the-rules kinda guy (relatable, lol), but when we see behind his protective, stoic nature, he’s so sweet and vulnerable!! So adorable 🫶🏼(I might take him for myself…)
Jecht Jetch is the silly one, always full of energy and the one guy filling in awkward silences with a joke to lighten the mood. He was so funny, and I loved the British words he used like “bloke” and when he called Lisa, “love”! 😂 Need me a British guy like that.
Yuj Yuj was incredibly sweet, gentle, and understanding, and has such a unique backstory! He had a little bit of his own grief to overcome in Embassy Saints and it was really neat to see his progression! I can’t wait to see more of him in later books.
Spoiler for book 4:
❤️🩹t h e • r o m a n c e❤️🩹 Oh. My. Goodness. To be perfectly honest, I was terrified when Hannah said there was a romance subplot in Embassy Saints. I was literally like… how? (Iykyk) But let me go ahead and quench your fears. YOU WILL LOVE IT. OH MY GOODNESS. I was up screaming at midnight and kicking my feet. It’s adorable and I cannot FREAKING WAIT for the next book to see where this goes… 👀
🌙 f i n a l • t h o u g h t s 🌙 TAB 5 is everything and more. Even though I may not have loved it as much as the previous books (*cries*), my heart has been very much healed, even if there’s still scars. I’m so excited for Lisa’s new era and can’t wait to see what happens next! I will also be doing a re-read as soon as I get my physical copy of Embassy Saints because I just need to read my comfort books all over again.
THANK YOU AGAIN HANNAH FOR GIVING ME AN ARC AND I HOPE TO SEE YOU IN MAY!! 💜
Pre-read Thoughts The Agapéd Bearer is my favorite series of all time and I already know this book is going to be a ten star read for me. I need healing after that last book and I'm so curious to see where Lisa's story goes!! 💕
I had the absolute honor of beta reading Hannah’s fifth installment of The Agaped Bearer Saga, and it was a dream. After the emotional rollercoaster of book 4, Embassy Saints transports you into a whole new season of life for Lisa.
It’s filled with every trope I love: found family, redemption arc, found father, magic battles, protective MMCs. And the story itself was so heartwarming it brought tears to my eyes. I loved all the new characters Hannah introduced. She makes every one seem so real and lovable! Every time I pick up Hannah’s books I’m immediately thrusted into a world I don’t want to leave. Her stories warm my soul and honestly make me feel safe and excited.
Embassy Saints is the perfect jump start to our main character’s young adult years. And though there are battles of grief, self-hatred, and depression woven throughout, it portrays a beautiful tale of how, no matter how far we fall, the light is always there to catch us. We see new aspects of Lisa in this book, we see her stumble and fall into a dark place. But then we see the power of friendship, and how important it is to reach out to someone in need—it could mean the world.
Thank you so much, Hannah, for allowing me to be a part of the journey! You certainly laid the grounds for another fantastical journey, and I can’t wait to see what comes next!
I am genuinely in awe of how Hannah Lindsey is able to make me love every new book she releases more than the previous one (which I already ADORED).
Embassy Saints is now my new favorite TAB book, and just a while ago, it was Dreyma's Curse. I can already sense that my next favorite is going to be book 6, and then after that, book 7. I just love this series so so much.
After the traumatic events of book 4, I wasn't sure how my heart would be healed, but I realized that Hannah wasn't wrong when she said that would happen to readers. Because even though I was depressed along with Lisa for the first quarter of the book, the boys quickly flipped things around as soon as they came onto the page. Their distinct personalities and voices were loveable, genuine, and real. The way they helped Lisa heal and overcome her grief was incredibly heartwarming. And of course Gaius played a vital role in that too...some of the things he said to Lisa and did for her had my eyes watering. Not to mention, there is a little subplot between him and a certain someone (hehe) that had me giggling at how wholesome it was.
Of course, there is a character missing from this book (iykyk). That character's absence was obvious. It was painful at the beginning, but over time, as Lisa slowly returned to her old self, that absence didn't feel cold anymore. It almost began to feel like that character was still there--just not on the page, but watching over everyone else.
Overall, this was an incredible book. There is still so much I haven't shared about it as a whole, but all I'm going to say for now was that you are in for a treat. The plot was incredible, as always. Super investing and creative, with some moments that were absolutely hilarious (I have so many highlights of funny lines) but also dark and thrilling. The writing also just keeps improving, I love it.
Thank you to the author for letting me be an ARC reader!
I was chosen to be an ARC reader for this book, and I was so excited! Every time I pick up one of Hannah Lindsey’s books, I wonder how the next one could possibly top the last—but she did it again.
I loved every minute of this book: the story, the battles, the friendships—everything. After the last book (which absolutely wrecked me), I knew Lisa had a lot of healing to do… and honestly, so did I. I wasn’t sure how that healing would unfold, but the new characters who came alongside Lisa in this story brought so much restoration. In many ways, their presence helped heal me right along with her.
I read most of this book during a very long travel day, and more than once I found myself tearing up on the airplane. Lisa’s conversation with the boys, her reunion with Gaius, and several of her personal moments as she processed what happened in the previous book were incredibly moving.
This book had me laughing, crying, and healing right alongside Lisa. I think it may be my new favorite of the series!
Hannah promised that book 5 would heal hearts. I both trusted our author and also remained highly skeptical as to how this could happen. And then I had the wonderful privilege to receive an eARC of Embassy Saints. My poor heart is healing. ❤️🩹 This was beautiful. Whether you’re reading the story coming from the horrors of Dreyma’s Curse or just joining Lisa on her adventures, this was a fantastic read. The worlds and characters are so vibrant, you’re immediately swept off on the journey. Lisa’s growth over the past 4 books and even within this 5th book is spectacular. She’s still our precious, reckless girl but she is growing and I’m loving watching her mature. We’re introduced to so many wonderful new characters. The boys are amazing and I can’t wait for more stories and adventures with them. I have some hopes for specific adventures but we shall see how events unfold. 😉 For now I am gleefully hoping for a long cherished ship that seems ready to set sail. I love how Hannah brings so many characters to life and maintains their individuality so well. The found family relationships are so precious and heart warming.
Hi! I'm thrilled to be writing this review and honored to have been an Advanced Reader. A huge thank you to the author—my heart was left speechless by Dreyma's Curse, and The Embassy Saints provided much-needed comfort for it. Without further ado, let's dive into the review!
Lisa's Journey - - Well, dang—this was a dark twist for Lisa's storyline. Comparing the Lisa I remember from the first book to where she is now... wow, I'm shocked.
It’s amazingly written; the book beautifully describes the growth and changes in Lisa's mindset and emotional state while living with unhealed trauma. Although her choices aren't always the healthiest, they never contradict who she is at her core—like the lingering way she cares about fairness or her awe of star magic. It's a beautiful, realistic approach to growing up, especially given her context.
The plot flow-- I’m constantly amazed by the complexity and beauty of The Agapéd Bearer Series. While some authors get stuck on a single trope or a repetitive narrative style, I’ve never had that experience here. Every time I start a new book, I'm absorbed into the world-building, discovering new places, new characters, and entirely different plots.
Since the first book begins when Lisa is younger, we get to experience her maturing firsthand, which keeps the series feeling fresh and unexplored. It stands as one of my all-time favorite series.
New characters and multiple POVs -- Regarding the new characters: I thought I’d be hesitant to accept them since I’ve been a huge Callum fan (😭) from the start, but I loved them! Their presence provides a perfect contrast to the fear and sadness Lisa carries.
I’m honestly biased toward Yuj because he’s so cool, patient, and sweet, but I also loved Kole—who was a pillar of strength for Lisa—and Jecht, who made her mind feel lighter. They are the perfect example of how friends can help carry your pain. It delivered the "found family" trope perfectly, offering some much-needed comfort for Lisa (and for me, after my heart was broken by the last book!).
I also loved Gaius; his "tired dad energy" was hilarious. I definitely didn’t expect the turn of events in Part 2 (especially Chapter 43! 🤭). Adding different perspectives was a great touch; it draws your attention to the small shifts in opinions and priorities within the narrative.
Style of writting and warnings-- I love how some authors create stories that connect with such a wide range of people, weaving emotions so well that we feel the characters' joy and pain. This book is a prime example of that. I do have a few warnings: if you haven't processed the death of a certain character yet, be prepared. This book focuses heavily on Lisa’s grief and learning to live with loss, so crying is mandatory in several parts!
Final thoughts-- Now, I’m sad because I’ve finished another beautiful story, but I'm eager to see what's in store for Lisa. Thank you again, Hannah Taylor Lindsey, and bravo for another masterpiece in The Agapéd Bearer Series.
If you’re a new reader, don’t miss the first four books! They are a perfect mix of epic fantasy, found family, grumpy mentors, and an intricate star magic system that will take you galaxies away.
I was so lucky to be chosen as an ARC reader for Ebassy Saints, and my gosh, this book has healed me. After the heart-wrenching events of Dreyma's Curse, this book has put my heart back together. Embassy Saints has made me laugh so many times, it's left me on the edge of my seat, and it's left me so happy! All I have to say is praise, it's yet another work of absolute art, the writing just takes you off into another world, the characters are so full of life and diverse and relatable and lovable! It is just incredible! Once you pick it up, you won't be able to put it down! I love the boys so much! Thank you so much Hannah, for giving me the absolute honour of ARC reading your books! I cannot wait for what is to come!!
I was so grateful to get to be an ARC reader for this book! (And this is my first ever review so bear with me please!)
This book was very much needed for my heart after the ending of book four (iykyk 😭 and if you don’t go read the first four). Lisa’s interactions with all of the new characters (especially the boys) were so wholesome and just made my day every time I got to sneak reading a chapter during school.
Though I very much missed many of the characters from the first four books (one in particular), the characters introduced in this book were exceptional and left me loving them just as much as the originals.
All three of the boys that Lisa meets are absolutely the best. Kole—the “favored” strong and silent type. Jecht—a “nobody” but goofy and a sugar addict. Yuj—“cursed” and a quiet calm.
The reunion between Gaius and Lisa made me cry late at night and stay up way too late but it was all worth it. While it started bittersweet it ended up filling a hole in my soul.
One thing I do have to say as a warning though is that this book (particularly the end battle scene) is darker and gorier than the others (excluding Dreyma’s Curse). But I do know that as Lisa gets older that she has to face harder challenges. It was just a bit much for me, but not enough to knock the whole book down to four stars.
Overall, I can’t say this is my favorite of this series because all five books tie for that spot. But it upheld the sense of Light that all the others do.
If you haven’t read the first four books, you technically don’t have to to read this one, but I highly recommend that you do, just to understand more of what’s going on, and also because those books are amazing.
I hope that everyone will read this book and love it as much as I do. Thanks once more so much to Hannah Lindsey for the privilege of being an ARC reader.
Once again, I was captivated. Hooked into the story right from page 1. I devoured this book as soon as I got it. I loved so many things that I can’t talk about (because SPOILERS 😉) but it’s possible this is my favorite book yet in the series!
One thing I love about this unique series is that Hannah’s also created all the artwork that goes along with it. I was livinggggg in both the book and her IG!!
I feel like we’re watching the author’s craft grow alongside Lisa’s life journey, which is so special to get to witness! It just gets better and better! Book 5 isn’t even out yet and I’m like, when is book 6 so I can keep reading??
After the heartbreak that was book 4, as Hannah has said, this book will heal your heart💜 This book goes through the stages of Lisa’s grief and learning to heal from it. Along the way, we meet new characters- Kole, Yuj, and Jecht. They provide Lisa with the sweetest friendship that will melt your heart. They help her heal, slowly but surely. The pacing, I think, was very realistic considering all the pain Lisa went through. Nothing felt rushed or dragged out.
The reunion between Gaius and Lisa… bring the tissues💜
There are a few different POVs sprinkled throughout the book, and I absolutely loved seeing those different perspectives. Especially Gaius’ chapters..iykyk. I promise, you’re going to love this book. I absolutely devoured it, and I didn’t want it to end!
Embassy Saints was so emotional, funny, and heart-warming. It was exactly what was needed after that ending in book 4. There are parts that will have you in tears, but in the end, I promise you'll have a smile on your face. *You can start with book 1 in the series Wishing Stars for Lisa’s backstory, or you can start with this one! Thank you so much, Hannah for sending me an ARC! The book was beautiful <3
I have been obsessed with Lisa’s Agaped world for a while - so when the author asked me to read an advanced copy of Embassy of Saints I could not wait.
The book is a bulky one - and my review is split into three different sections.
(skip ahead last paragraph for spoiler free details)
In the first part of the book, Lisa is shown dealing with grief from Cal’s death. The descriptions are raw and brutal. Young Lisa is shown to deal with nightmares, ghosts from her past with violence and substance abuse. To the point of losing even a part of herself: her fire magic. Despite al this, The Agaped does not leave her, eventually moving her to try and help people again - something that digs her out of her despair. Not only the book is incredible for its descriptions of grief in an incredibly powerful way - but because it also subtly shows Lisa’s character through her pain. Despite the loneliness and pain she felt, she would try not to burden other people with her own sadness - which of course is even more disruptive for her own development.
In the second part, Lisa starts her new task: to be a representative for the new Embassy - inspiring and saving people with her magic. However, her previous months have left her sick and unable to defend herself - leadinn to a training period with a group of soldiers. Amongst them - Kole, Jecth and Yuj - three young boys who are sworn to protect her. Initially Lisa tries to exclude them from her escapedes but eventually learns to trust them and rely on their skills - blossoming into friendship. This is the only point of the book which perhaps did not really allign with the rest. Lisa - who has been described as broken beyond repair - learns to trust again within a few months and develops an attachment to people who are virtually strangers with little to no hesitation? Going as far as making them the people who eventually take her out of her pain. I mean young Lisa has always been trusting but her true friends could be counted on one hand. Now these three boys valzing in her life fix all her issues. Or maybe its was never about the boys at all. Maybe Lisa just needed someone to open up to, someone to feel less alone with. And they were … there. In a moment where she needed it. Their friendship feels much more real and felt in the following part of the book - where we start to see the other characters backstories.
The last part is packed with action, magic and awsome fights. Lisa finds out that her nightmares are partially still there due to the presence of Dreyma’s sibilings - two humanoids who have been planning an uprising. Of these two, the younger sister is the first ambiguous/ redeemable villain we find in the saga. Because young Lisa has always had one task: kill monsters, defeat darkness. But what happens when the darkness is embued in a kid? What happens if thos kids had been forced into the darkness - moulded by it? Is that still ok to kill them? At the same time Lisa is giftee with a new, poweful magic and the Agaped gifts her protectors with other special gifts. The battle against darkness is epic and Lisa and her friends turn successful - but at a cost.
I cannot wait to see more of this - moral decisions, friendship and epic battles. I feel like Lisa’s adventures have just begun. Also I cannot wait to see Jecht’s character development. The sad jokester who brings lightness to serious moments. He is making his way to be the second best supporting character (after Cal ofc).
I had the honor of being an ARC reader for this book, and it was a beautiful continuation of Lisa’s story. Lisa starts out broken, dealing with the effects of grief from the previous book, but she finds healing in this book through three beautiful new friendships. The story stays true to who Lisa is but also accurately portrays the process of healing, with both its hardships and moments of joy. There were so many beautiful magical moments that make me look forward to the books ahead, and I loved seeing the longing for a close group of friends that Lisa had throughout her middle school and high school years finally be fulfilled. This book felt like the perfect bridge to the next stage of Lisa’s story. This was my favorite book of the series so far, and I am so excited to read more!
Through all these books, Hannah always has the ability to put you through a whole lot of emotions and this book is no exception. Been awhile that a book had me in tears. The healing/grieving was written so well. That said, I missed a bit of the magic and adventure the other books gave me. Still so excited for the next book and this series continues to be one of the best I have read.
I liked it, but I really think the book could have been better. There are subplots that are abruptly wrapped up. Don't get me wrong, the story has quite a few strengths, such as exploring the protagonist's flaws and mental health. It also shows us more of the magic system that comprises the Embassy and its ranks. We even see the rotten side of that society. However, here are 3 details with SPOILERS that were poorly executed.
That said, there's much to celebrate. What kept me hooked for several chapters was the author's fluid writing style, allowing them to explore different perspectives that enriched the story. It gave the plot an emotional depth, allowing me to appreciate other details like the Embassy's context with Lazz's appearance (I have so much respect for that man).
The secondary characters were a huge bonus. They added more connection, tears, and attachment than I expected: Yuj, Kole, and Jecth won a piece of my heart thanks to their loyalty and compassion, reflected in their work and friendships. Of course, honorable mentions go to the amazing Tuff and Gaius.
Vilmad is following the same path with her participation in Embassy Saints, thanks to the wisdom he imparted regarding faith in that universe. In fact? I feel like we're close to getting his backstory any moment now.
I also LOVED that there was continuity with the previous events. Cal's importance brought me to tears. Furthermore, something that really helps me immerse myself in the story are the author's descriptions. You're drawn into your imagination without even realizing it, captivated by every detail about a place, atmosphere, or person. Sometimes I was more excited to discover a new location than an action scene at the beginning. By the way, the battles were incredible.
Without a doubt, I think this book should be read after the other three to achieve a greater emotional impact and have fewer questions. It had phenomenal moments, which I'd love to see illustrated someday. Despite my critical expectations that it could be improved, this saga remains one of the best contemporary fantasy series I've read, both for how well-thought-out it is and the intrinsic nature of each part. Thanks for the arc!
Oh, this series has such a special place in my heart. This is actually my very first GoodReads review! (so bear with me lol...) I created an account and finally took the plunge into this community just so I could write a review for this book. Thank you again, Hannah, for my Advanced Reader Copy (ARC)! It made my year. This is my honest review and my own genuine opinions.
Okay, thanks for hanging in there with me! Now for the review (without Book 5 spoilers).
I absolutely loved this book from start to finish. We pick up where our heroine, Lisa, a chosen-one hero with incredible magical power, left off. Our star-hearted hero is broken-hearted, with an injured soul and a tormented mind, haunted by the events from the end of Book 4. The tone of this book was immediately more mature and dark than the first four books, which started off as relatively light-hearted and appropriate for a more juvenile-aged audience, and progressively intensified as Lisa aged and faced greater threats. Anyone who has faced a great loss can recognize the stages of grief Lisa goes through, perhaps as well as some of the less-than-healthy coping mechanisms Lisa utilizes to survive her grief until she has no choice left but to face the past. Hannah did a beautiful job representing the overwhelmingly daunting task of facing a future without the person we dreamed of sharing it with, and illustrating just how devastating the unique injuries to Lisa's heart and soul were. The events of Book 4 forced Lisa to realize, like never before, how, in love and war, it's hard to be the one who survives.
As always, Hannah delivered a wonderfully complex and well-thought-out world in a thoroughly developed galaxy and an addictive magic system, a diverse cast of unique and lovable characters, and a female main character you can't help but root for, who is a perfect representation of the indomitable human spirit. The author promised us in her teasers for Book 5 on her social media that this book would be a chance for Lisa (and us readers) to heal from the traumatizing escapade that was Book 4, particularly its ending, and she was certainly right. It was wonderful to see Lisa go on yet another journey of growth, healing, and personal discovery and she finds again the bright-eyed girl who first crossed paths with a magical wishing star when she was just twelve years old while growing into the young woman who has succeeded in and achieved what no others could and saved the lives of countless people, but paid yet another terrible price that is sure to not be her last.
Now, as for reading order, it is my understanding that we have reached the beginning of the main story the author wanted to tell for Lisa. Books 5-9 are to be the main story, covering Lisa's last years as a teen and the start of her twenties, while Books 1-4 are a prologue of sorts, set from Lisa's age 12 through her late teens. As such, you could either begin with Book 5, then go back and read Books 1-4 as prequels, or start with Book 1 in publication order. While I do think either path is reasonable, I would personally recommend starting with Book 1 and proceeding in publication order. I started this series with Book 1 back when it first came out, and have been here ever since, while Lisa, her story, and her author evolved over the next several books, and I personally can't imagine having missed out on those first four books before beginning Book 5. Starting from the beginning allows you to get to know this incredible new world (universe, really) and bond with the characters for the first time alongside Lisa. It also helps to have that context and be familiar with the amazing but quite complex world-building and magic system. Having spent that time with those familiar characters from the previous books makes Lisa's interactions with them, as well as the introduction of three new special boys in Lisa's life, all the more poignant. After all, Lisa was not only faced with the loss of loved ones, but a loss of trust in those who remained after a well-intentioned but devastating betrayal of her trust in her inner circle and allies.
Thank you again for hanging in there with me for this long review! It was an absolute pleasure to read through the next chapter of Lisa's life and share my thoughts with you, lovely readers. I hope you also enjoy Embassy Saints when it comes out, whether you've been biting at the bit to see Lisa again after the end of Book 4, or if this is your first time dipping your toe into the universe of the Agaped Bearer.
I would also encourage you to check out the author's Instagram page, where she posts updates on her writing and life, as well as the incredible illustrations of her book's scenes and characters (which she does herself!) Talk about an inspiring creative!
When I read Dreyma’s Curse, I was already walking through my own grief in real life, and Lisa’s pain landed like a punch. Her loss, her numbness, her desperate trying-to-keep-going felt so close to what I was living that I honestly wasn’t sure how either of us were supposed to heal.
Embassy Saints became part of that healing for me. Watching Lisa learn to live with what she’s lost, finding new people and new purpose without erasing what came before, gently stitched some of those torn places in my own heart too.
As a mom, I read this book with two sets of eyes: the part of me that still sees myself in Lisa, and the part that sees myself in the adults who love her and stand around her. Hannah Taylor Lindsey captures that tension so well—the way you can be both someone’s child and someone’s protector, both lost and fiercely, stubbornly brave. It’s one of the reasons The Agapéd Bearer has become my favorite series of all time, and why Embassy Saints felt especially tender to me.
Lisa’s journey here is darker, slower, and more fragile than the earlier books. We meet her in the thick of unhealed trauma, and nothing about it is neat. As a mom, it reminded me of watching a teenager you love go through something you can’t fix: the bad coping strategies, the pushing people away, the flashes of the kid you remember underneath all that hurt. Hannah writes Lisa’s grief in a way that never betrays who she is at her core—her sense of fairness, her awe at star magic, her huge heart. It’s painfully honest but also deeply respectful.
And then the boys arrive. Kole, Jecht, and Yuj feel exactly like the kind of friends you pray you will find when life has knocked you flat. Kole with his steady, rule-following strength; Jecht with his humor that breaks heavy silences; Yuj with his quiet compassion and his own grief he’s learning to carry. They don’t “fix” Lisa. They sit with her, carry some of the weight, and slowly help her remember who she is. It was one of the most beautiful parts of the book—seeing community become the answer to a hurt no one person could mend.
I also found myself so drawn to the adults around Lisa, especially Gaius. He carries that tired, protective, “I’ll hold the line for you as long as I can” energy that every one around him recognizes. The way he speaks to Lisa, the boundaries he holds, the quiet acts of care—those scenes hit me hard. There’s even a little subplot involving him and a certain someone that had me grinning because it felt so wholesome and earned. It was like watching a friend finally get a small slice of joy after carrying the world on their shoulders.
Of course, there is a character whose absence shapes this entire book. As someone who was already grieving, I felt that emptiness so sharply at the beginning. But as the story goes on and Lisa slowly steps into this new season, that absence shifts. It stops feeling like a gaping wound and starts feeling more like a quiet presence—someone still woven into every choice and every memory, even off the page. That was strangely comforting, and it mirrors how grief can soften over time in real life too.
The plot itself balances all of this emotional weight with adventure, wonder, and genuine laughter. The world expands again—new planets, new corners of the galaxy—and each place feels intentional. There are scenes that made me laugh out loud, scenes that made me pause and reread a line, and scenes where I just had to sit for a minute because the ache was that real.
As a whole, Embassy Saints doesn’t pretend that loss is something you “get over.” Instead, it shows what it looks like to love again, to trust again, and to move forward without leaving the past behind. Watching Lisa do that, surrounded by people who refuse to give up on her while calling out her flaws with love, helped me keep believing in that for myself, too.
For fellow moms—or anyone who has ever loved a hurting young person—this book might be a hard read in places, but it is also incredibly hopeful. It honors the weight of grief while still making room for laughter, friendship, and even a little bit of romance that feels so gentle and right for where Lisa is.
𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖: First off, thank you Hannah for selecting me to receive an ARC copy of the novel, I truly had a grand time and it did fulfill your promise on healing me. So readers, prepare to enter your healing era.
But also, as typical for a Hannah Lindsey Agapéd Bearer novel, it will make you cry. Have tissues on hand.
"Time doesn't heal. It's the people in it," is a line that perfectly personifies what this book is about. It shows that healing isn't linear and that doing so with a support system makes it just a little bit easier as opposed to doing so alone. It was wonderful being able to see Lisa gain that support system in this book, for her to receive some semblance of closure, and for her healing journey to begin -- she's far from being fully healed, but she's on the right track.
I loved getting to meet Lisa's for-lifers and her reunion with Gaius was one of the best scenes in the book. The new dynamics I can see as clear as day, and the old, familiar ones are being built upon more and more. The relationships between characters are some of my favorite things about books, and being able to see the organic chemistry between characters so palpable in books like this are always a delight. They deserve to be protected and happy and always genuinely smiling.
By the time you've reached the end, it'll feel like watching the end of Superman (2025) with "Punkrocker" playing as the credits roll (and yes, I feel like that song would be added to Lisa's playlist): like one chapter has ended, but that also everything is only just beginning.
𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒: This is me being a little nit-picky. All good reviews have to have a little bit of nit-pickiness, right?
On the rare occasion, I've come upon an odd wording or the smallest misspelling that could be easily glossed over; a lack of detail in a certain moment, but all of these are small beats that clicked for me by the end of the sentence. I've chalked it up to the author's pregnancy and post-partum (congrats again queen!), but it's just one of those things that I noticed and to affirm that that could easily be remedied in the future. (this is also my mother's inner Simon Cowell I've inherited speaking)
The really big thing that I wish I got to see was more of the boys' perspective. The book is presented as essentially the start of a new era for Lisa's journey, and with that combined with what I'm presuming is the regular appearances of Kole, Jecht, and Yuj in the series, having their POVs occurring regularly in the book was a bit of an expectation I had, as it would kind of shift the book's vibe more smoothly into this new era of the Agapéd Bearer Saga. It also would've allowed readers to not only understand these new characters more in depth but it would also have helped some of the plot points flow a little better like the boys taking in and understanding Lisa's story, and how her entering their lives shook up the dynamic. To me, Kole, Jecht, and Yuj are becoming just as much protagonists and main characters of the Agapéd Bearer story as Lisa is already, and I was hoping to see that in Embassy Saints. I understand why their POVs didn't appear, but I was still hoping nonetheless.
While "The Story So Far" chapter at the beginning did help with providing context to the world and the story, I would still strongly recommend readers who are just starting out on this series to read the previous four books. Lisa's journey with magic and the Agapéd started in book one when she was 13. As someone who loves reading books and watching movies in chronological order, I would not understand half of the things and emotional rollercoasters Lisa has gone through were it not for reading the whole series. It is helpful, though, for folks who probably haven't read the books in a while. (That's me. I'm folks.)
Thank you hannah for selecting me as an ARC reader! It's feels like a dream come true!!!!🥹⭐️💜
Review:
Ms. Hannah...you've done it again!!! And you kept your promise—my heart is truly healed!!
When I finished Embassy Saints, I was in shock: the ending was so full of warmth, yet it had a bittersweet taste.
Because, i simply didn't want this book to end—I didn't want to leave Lisa and the boys yet.😭🫶🏻 After the devastating ending of "Dreyma's Curse," I needed this book so badly, and Ms. Hannah was right; it did truly healed me.
~☆ "A hurting Heart is nothing to brush aside"~☆
To be honest, I was skeptical at first about Lisa's healing process because, after all, it's a fantasy book, and I was worried that Lisa's grief might be somewhat underdeveloped and seem unrealistic. But this worry was completely unfounded 😊.Hannah Lindsey has once again managed to write a captivating and engaging story from the very first page, without sacrificing emotions or feeling forced in any way.
~☆"We have one Life, [...] and it's already hard enough to bear. I don't want you to bear mine. It's far to heavy."~☆
Never before has it been so difficult for me to write a review, because I can't even begin to put into words how deeply this story moved me.🥹 This book evoked so many emotions in me: pain (physical and emotional), grief, depression, fear, self-hatred, loneliness, and the question of why... Why did the person you loved most have to leave you behind? And how do you deal with it?...But also hope, love, family bonds, found family and above all, the most important theme in this book: friendship✨️🥰.
Because it is friendship and love that can save you and heal your heart, and Hannah addressed and portrayed this theme perfectly in Embassy Saints.
~☆"No. Time doesn't heal. It's the people in it, and you healed me."~☆
The absolute highlight of this story, however, was the boys: Kole, Yuj, and Jecht!!!🤍♥️💙
~☆"When a Man has everything, he doesn't care if one piece of his Gaudy life flasks away. But if a man has nothing and then is given something, he will fight to keep it. And those three were given something very precious to protect."~☆
The three of them completely won my heart and soul.😍
The friendship they build with Lisa was simply the best part of the whole story. It touched my heart and made me cry, laugh, and smile.
~☆"Friends were a a privilege to have, something i could never keep as the Agapéd Bearer, because it only led to them in the grave and me Standing on the other side."~☆
Kole, Yuj, and Jecht show her that she's not alone and that she doesn't have to bear the burden of being the Agapéd alone. They supporting each other through pain and finding strength in their friendship — it was simply beautiful and heartwarming!!!
~☆“You told me to find my haven… and I think I have. I think you’d like them. They remind me a lot of you.”~☆
But Lisa also helps the boys with their problems, and together the four of them experience incredible character development.
Finally, Lisa finds true friends for life.
And Gaius also helped Lisa with her healing process. The chapter where Gaius and Lisa reunited and FINALLY talked things out really moved and touched me emotionally.😭🤧💚
~☆"Lisa was bright, color to a graying world, and always awed by the simplest things."~☆
He is and always will be the best (fictional) father!!! And it seems like he's finally making progress in matters of love too 👀💕.
~☆"Love took time, and romantic endearment challenged the age of stars."~☆
The Pacing was great and smooth, it was soo realisctic, and the way the new characters, a greater and more complex worldbuilding, new environments and even political insights were implemented here was simply incredible.
~☆“The moment was quite simple—quite mundane, easily forgotten—yet each detail engraved onto my heart like a promise on an oak tree. For so long, my days ended with me heading home alone. The only thing waiting for me was a bottle of Memory Draught and a glainie who wished for me to smile. But there… my home was walking and laughing. I didn’t have to do a porcelain persona around them. I could be me, scars and all.”~☆
"The Agapéd Bearer – Embassy Saints" truly feels like the beginning of Lisa’s young adult journey but is also a great continuation and for anyone, who enjoys epic fantasy with a broken heroine caught in an ancient battle between light and darkness. Those who love stories of destiny, healing, and friendship in a magical world will find much to enjoy in this book.
Embassy Saints invites us into Lisa's young adult years. We meet our hero at the start of the book in a broken state, (both mentally and physically) and watch her rebuild herself and get even stronger through the help of our beloved Tuff, as well as some new friends who I GAURANTEE you will quickly adore. The stakes are even higher, the adventures more dangerous and the banter is more hilarious than ever.
If you are coming off of book 4, I promise Embassy saints will stitch your shattered heart back together and heal it. We get more adorable,heartwarming moments between our favorite father daughter duo (Gauis and Lisa), sweet gestures from everyone's favorite flying orange (jk,jk love you Tuff) and some awesome, hilarious moments from Lisa's new friends.
You will be thrust into a world within TAB that has never been explored before. New adventures, new characters, new friends, new mentors (don't worry though, Gauis is still alive and well) but throughout it all we still get to follow the same girl we know and love. Embassy Saints contains so many heartwarming chapters, thanks to several characters who become like brothers to Lisa and I promise you will fall in love with them. Specifically three new people that become Lisa's new found family (I love this trope so much and Embassy Saints contains lots of it :D ), they become her support system, her friends and most importantly, they take care of her (and the lord knows just how badly she needs to rest).
If you are new to TAB : The Agapéd Bearer Series can be enjoyed from either Book 1, where you get to enjoy several of Lisa's adventures throughout her adolescent years, OR if you want to jump straight into her adult years, Embassy saints is a great place to start, especially if you are a more experienced fantasy reader. But personally, i'd recommend starting at book 1 because the world building, character arcs and stories are incredible. Plus you get to truly follow along her journey and watch our sweet magic-less 13 year old earthian explore this beautiful new universe.
All in all, Embassy Saints will mend your heart. We get to meet some VERY important new main characters and Lisa gets a chance to heal after the events of book 4. This book offers some incredible found family moments, exhilarating battles, fun banter and lots and lots of amazing magic.
Ms. Hannah… you’ve outdone yourself once again!! Finishing Embassy Saints left me with such a bittersweet feeling. I honestly didn’t want to leave this magical world—but I was also so grateful for the way this chapter ended. After everything Lisa endured previously, I’m so glad her story didn’t end on another heartbreaking cliffhanger. Instead, this book felt like something gentler… a space for healing.
Without spoilers, this story follows Lisa as she slowly begins recovering—both physically and mentally—after all the pain she endured before. Watching her struggle with grief, depression, guilt, and self-hatred is truly heartbreaking at times. But one of the most beautiful parts of this book is seeing her realize she doesn’t have to carry the burden of being the Agapéd alone ❤️
And the friendships in this book? Absolutely wonderful!
I LOVED Lisa’s dynamic with the boys—Jecht, Yuj, and Kole. Their friendship brought so many emotions while reading: I laughed out loud, grinned like crazy, and definitely teared up a few times. They care about Lisa deeply and support her in a way that helps her slowly begin to see the light again.
Another thing I really appreciated was the pacing. I was never confused or bored while reading, and Hannah’s writing has improved beautifully since her first book (which I already loved!). Her characters feel so real and relatable, which makes the emotional moments hit even harder.
This quote perfectly captures the heart of this part of Lisa’s journey:
“The moment was quite simple—quite mundane, easily forgotten—yet each detail engraved onto my heart like a promise on an oak tree. For so long, my days ended with me heading home alone. The only thing waiting for me was a bottle of Memory Draught and a glainie who wished for me to smile. But there… my home was walking and laughing. I didn’t have to don a porcelain persona around them. I could be me, scars and all.”
Embassy Saints truly feels like the beginning of Lisa’s young adult journey—one where she learns that healing, friendship, and belonging can help carry even the heaviest burdens.
Thank you so, so, so much Hannah for letting me be an ARC reader! I can’t wait to see where Lisa goes next on her journey 🧡
I had the incredible opportunity to be an ARC reader for this book, and Embassy Saints was exactly what I needed after the traumatic events of the last book. It had me crying, laughing, and in awe the whole way through and I couldn’t put it down for too long. It perfectly captured the image of a broken hero learning to heal and it was so beautiful to read.
Lisa’s growth in this book, especially after the traumatic events of the previous book is very inspiring, and despite the many downfalls she experiences she never stays down for too long.
Yuj, Jecht, and Kole were new additions I was looking forward to after seeing the amazing art that Ms. Hannah drew! Their relationship with Lisa was exactly what she needed to heal and I can’t wait to read the adventures they go on in the following books because this one did not disappoint. Their shenanigans had me grinning and laughing out loud like a lunatic and I’m so happy that Lisa is finally able to experience the joys of a group of friends that she has longed for throughout the first four books.
Another character that deserves a special mention is Gaius. His care and love for Lisa really showed in this book, and his POVs as well as those of several other characters were so interesting to read as it gives a lot more insight into the inner workings and perspectives of different characters.
I’m also on the edge of my seat waiting to see how certain character dynamics will change as this series progresses.
Seeing Lisa change and mature throughout this series has been such a unique experience that I haven’t seen in many other books. Each one explores a different aspect of her growing up and maturing into the young woman she’s becoming which keeps it new and exciting.
Thank you so, so much Hannah Lindsey for giving me the chance to be an ARC reader! This book was absolutely incredible (as have each of the ones before) and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
A special thank you to Hannah Lindsey for allowing me to receive a copy of this book early as one of her ARC readers!
~~~
Wow! I don't have enough good things to say about this book! Dreyma's Curse really destroyed me and I have been waiting for this next installment. Hannah promised it would heal our hearts, and it absolutely did. Did I cry for the first 63% of the book? Yes, I did. But it was worth it.
Hannah dealt with heavy topics like grief, depression, loss, and self-loathing with such care. She did not shy away from them. She did not skim over the messy parts of Lisa's life. She handled them with grace and beauty. Ugh. I could go on for pages about it. Tears were shed, but in the best way possible as Lisa finally faced her past and let herself heal.
THE BOYS!!!! I adore each of them. Yuj is my favorite though. I love his dynamic with Lisa and how different it is than her relationship with Jecht and Kole. But each of the boys stole my heart almost immediately. I'm so excited they are going to remain key characters for the rest of the saga and I'm very interested to see where they go. Gauis remains my favorite "found father". His reunion with Lisa gutted and healed me all within a single chapter. His "talk" with the boys had me rolling on the floor.
Hannah Lindsey has once again delivered an amazing story and given me the best kind of book hangover (I actually ended up re-reading the book as soon as I finished it because it was that good). All I can say is: You need to read this series.
I was super privileged to receive an ARC of this book and be one of the first to read the latest installment in the Agaped Bearer adventures.
Without spoiling the first four books, I can say I was highly anticipating this book to see what Lisa’s next steps would be, as she was in such a hard spot at the end of the fourth book. This book had a feeling of starting over and reinvention.
I really loved the third and fourth books, and the fourth was very heavy, but so well-written in its strife and sorrow. This book made a smooth transition between Lisa’s heartaches and into a new season, with character growth, blooming hope, and familiar but unique enemies. The further evolution of Lisa and Gaius’ relationship was touching and enjoyable. The new characters are fun and I can already see how they will add a lot of entertainment to future adventures.
Though this book was admittedly not my favorite in the series, it was a great installment and transition to a new era of adventures with Lisa as an established adult. I really look forward to where Lisa goes next, particularly what adulthood and heroism holds for a girl who has already experienced so much already.
Thanks again to the author, Hannah Lindsey, for the ARC. She hooked me in originally with her art for her series, but I stayed for the lovable characters and imaginative worlds. Now, I’m a ride or die, so I can’t wait to see what she does next.
Another 5☆ Agapéd Bearer read! There's so much good to be talked about, but most of it is spoilers and I don't want to spoil. However, your heart will be healed. I promise! Book 4 left us broken and shaken, but Hannah delivered and mended the wounds ❤️🩹 Plus you get to read something SUPER EXCITING,.and I'm telling you my cheeks were sore from smiling the entire time. I haven't been this giddy in so long..iykyk
You're introduced to a good amount of new characters, most popular being the boys (Lisa's protectors.) We love them, okay? The three of them have their own charm and personality, and they all click together so well. Hannah said this is a New Girl comp, and she was right on that. Yuj, Jecht and Kole are sweethearts. I literally can't pick a favorite, even if I had to. They're a funny, sweet, protective, goofy, respectful, courageous and reliable lot.
Lisa's recklessness always gets me worked up, and I wish I could just shake her because she gives me anxiety all the time hahaha. Yes, she's still going off doing stuff without telling anybody. Maybe the next book she'll learn? 🤔😆
World building is still going on even 5 books in!!! Love that were given new scenery, but also revisiting familiar places as well.
There's more training in this book, fun friend adventures, epic battles, over coming really hard things, found family, Lisa and Odette hangouts, cute Tuff moments and much more to look forward to! so excited for you to read it!! 🧡
Advanced Reader Copy --- After the heart-wrenching conclusion to Dreyma's Curse, I couldn't wait to see what was next for Lisa's story and how she'd move forward. And Hannah did NOT disappoint. Embassy Saints has all the aspects that made the first four Agapéd Bearer books so wonderful: characters you'll immediately love, beautiful fantasy worldbuilding, unexpected twists, and themes of faith woven within. The cover art is amazing as always; so excited for the illustrated edition!
Lisa's journey with grief is powerful; Hannah doesn't shy away from the harsh realities of dealing with loss, but also demonstrates the healing that possible, not just with time, but with the right people, to paraphrase Gaius. We really see that truth played out in how those around her build her up and allow her heart to mend. And her grief brings the role of Ranemir and faith into sharp relief in a new way, which was moving to read.
I loved all the connections to characters we'd met in the first four books! Some of the connections were unexpected surprises, and it was clear that Lisa's past was still a key part of her story, even as she steps into a new era. The new characters were hilarious, while visiting new places and learning a lot more about the Embassy was fascinating. And above all, a certain long awaited meeting did not finally occurred and boy was it worth it...
Can't wait to see what in store for Lisa and the Saints!
First off - I was so excited to be chosen as an ARC reader for this book!! And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. ✨
After the ending of book 4, I was so intrigued to see how Lisa’s story would continue. And it turned out to be such a fun ride! I loved all the new characters that were introduced in this book, the new magics, creatures, and continued world building. The end of this book got me even more excited for the rest of the series.
I love that this series has just gotten better and better with each book. It’s such a cozy (but thrilling) world and I love that the story is not just a bunch of tropes/vibes but truly feels unique and actually has some real depth and character development (though it also does have such fun vibes too 😉). Lisa is such a relatable main character and I just love her and Tuff so much (& so many of the other characters too)!
I can’t say enough about how fun this world is! I just love the cute and whimsical creatures, the super fun magic, and how detailed everything is. Overall, this series has become one of my favorites (and I’m usually a pretty picky person when it comes to books). I love it so much and will probably be restarting the series again soon just so I can relive it. 🤍
If you haven’t read this series - go do it! I highly recommend it 🤩
I first want to say a giant THANK YOU to author Hannah Lindsey for selecting me as an ARC reader for Embassy Saints. This series is so incredibly dear to my heart and as always, you have exceeded all expectations. 🩷
My spoiler free review below.
Where do I start?? I had no idea what to expect after the ending of book 4. I felt a lot like Lisa and didn’t know how the story could possibly go on. But Hannah did the dang thang in such a phenomenal way. The way these characters are written makes them feel realistic and I just LOVE them!!! We have several new characters who are introduced who will steal your heart. I absolutely cannot wait to see where our new squad goes from here. The found father and found family tropes are EVERYTHING to me and Hannah writes them perfectly every time. 😭
If you are at all contemplating this series, Embassy Saints is a great place to start if you are a YA reader. (I personally recommend starting at book 1 so you can see how we arrive at the start of ES, but I digress. 👀) This series will have you staying up to squeeze “one more chapter” in. You’ll feel all the feelings as you laugh, cry, and squeal and kick your feet.
Give the Agaped Bearer a shot and I promise you will not be disappointed!
After the ending of the last book, The Agapéd Bearer: Embassy Saints felt like such a needed continuation to the series. This book carried so much healing, growth, and emotional comfort while still keeping me completely invested in the story.
One of my favorite parts was watching Lisa’s healing journey unfold. Seeing her slowly find support, connection, and people she could lean on made this book feel very heartfelt and hopeful. It felt quieter and more emotional in the best way.
And of course… Gaius remains my favorite character. Every book somehow makes me love him more, and this one definitely gave some unexpected moments involving him that had me smiling the entire time 🤭
It took me a little longer than usual to finish this ARC because life has been hectic lately, but honestly, I think I read this book at exactly the right time. It ended up being exactly the kind of story I needed.
Hannah Lindsey continues to create characters and relationships that feel comforting, emotional, and easy to get attached to. Now I’m once again left in the terrible position of waiting for the next book before this one is even officially released 😭
Thank you for the ARC! I can’t wait for everyone else to read this one when it releases on May 1
