Overall the stories kept me reading despite the many errors in editing and accuracy in the writing… in one of the books he wrote about targeting cities in the southwest from Atlanta to Raleigh and another the character had her arms tied behind her back and the next sentence she reached up for her friends hand to help her off the ground.. there were numerous incidents that just made no sense it seemed like the author was writing and then stopped and came back to it and didn’t remember what he was writing about

Chapter 71 read. 'Cabin in the Woods'
Family of mother, twin daughters and father makes it to homestead and survives but grandfather goes to make the final sacrifice.
Second book... 'Long road home'
Lance Cooper and friend Paul Campbell are flying in their piper cub at 7000 feet over forest land 3 car hours out land travel out when EMP hit. Forest fire being scouted when engine fails. Crash landing in river attempted.
Kevin and Byrnard are youths at the homestead and are going to a Halloween costume party...
Genna and Chelsea meet up with the guys at the party, tropical storm coming in 2-3 days ...
EMP hits, light and phones go out.
Mother (Jane) and young tall son (Allen) are stranded in town at shopping center. Jane gets threatening phone call out of her past (El Diablo is out of jail, murder and drug King pin, he wants revenge as she put him in Jail 12 years ago). She is armed with a pistol. She calls Eric Jameson with the police.
(lots of story logical missteps in not how things would be in the real world)...
A flare would only offer very short-term light, not pausing to secure the plane and getting supplies before leaving is a dumb move, taking a wounded person through the basement window rather than going up and entering by the front door might likely be fatal, having the treatment area for animals on the second floor of the clinic would be extremely unlikely... Etc.
Son travels home, many trials and deadly confrontations. He finds a gangster protection racket being set up after the EMP.
Third book 'Out of the shadows'
The high school in New York city is having a football stadium athletic event disruption occurs due to EMP.
Mother Caroline Shield and her athletic son Eric is involved with this sports night and scores. Father Sam (forced retired cop) is not present, absent for 6 weeks, Sam is with his life long friend Joe. Sam bought 2000 acres farm.
Set of three books. Apparently several stories more than three in this set... Only the three book series is listed in Goodreads.
Book 5? Willow Mountain.
Mounts. Sheriff Tommy and Lacy who is a 20 year forest ranger chase a criminal poacher trapper (live bears) in the mountains.
Terrorist reveal their plan of using locally launched missiles to strike American Cities.
Series first book starts with Welding at start to EOTWAWKI.

The premise of an EMP bringing down the grid and forcing ordinary people to survive the breakdown of society has all the ingredients for a compelling thriller, which is what drew me to this book.
Unfortunately, the execution never quite lived up to the premise for me. I kept expecting the story and characters to pull me in more deeply, but by about 85% I realized I was continuing simply to finish rather than because I needed to know what happened. At that point, I stopped reading.
There is a good thriller buried in the concept, and other readers may respond differently to the author's approach, but this one ultimately didn't hold my interest.

Thin on details but quick pacing and lots of action
I enjoyed reading this. The characters are a bit exaggerated in how skilled they are, or how strong or weak, but the story has good pacing and good bad guys. Many questions are unanswered or answered with implausible scenarios like how'd they get the main weapon used. But the treatment of mental illness and it's aftermath was well-written.

There are three stories in this book set. Each story is based on survival during an EMP. Each has its own unique story line. I especially liked the last story of how a mother protected her children from a predator in human form.

All of these were great stories each interesting in their own way. All of your characters are realistic. It’s one of the most important parts of these stories in my humble opinion. I suggest y’all read it!

This story has all the scares and thrills during the loss of everything we take for granted.. I have a better understanding of what a pepper is and how fragile our world can become after an EMP strike. Living through the struggles to survive
