Veil is a book that excels at continuously making you forget how gruesome its virtual world is until a horrific monster comes around the corner and shatters the lighthearted vibe that the main cast's shenanigans have created. A book about a man who believes he and ten thousand others are entering a VRMMO as Alpha players when the reality is much darker, Chanter hits a system glitch in character creation that causes himself all sorts of trouble but with so much room for gain.
This is the first book in a planned series of five and really lays the groundwork for all sorts of interesting future plot points. The in-game mechanics were all really cool and made you excited to see how the main characters will grow as the story progresses, especially with Chanter having the potential to break the game because of his glitched character. And of course, there's the mystery of whatever the real-world Habashi Corporation is up to and how it will affect the world of Veil that is always in the back of your mind as you read this book.
I really can't wait to continue Chanter's story in book 2 and look forward to seeing how Brandon grows as an author!
