Loved this! I’m ready for the rest of the series!

This was my first read by Jasmine Cassidy, Reasonable Doubt is her debut novel & I had such a good time. it immediately impressed me with how well she balanced the legal drama with the darker themes and romantic tension.

Malcolm and Naomi are opposing counsel on a high-profile murder case. She's assistant district attorney for the prosecution, trying to make a name for herself.
Malcolm is the defense attorney for the defendant, who is accused of murdering his wife. (I think the dude on trial is a scumbag). He works the case alongside his father at Charles & Charles Law firm, and that dynamic is complicated.

Naomi is trying to hate her way through this court case because Malcolm is fine af. And you know what, girl? Do what you gotta do because I don't think hunching the opposing counsel is gonna get you closer to that goal of being the first Black woman head district attorney in Crestwood.

Malcom's eyes always seem to find Naomi (he had it baddd) but he held no punches in the defense & the courtroom stakes remain high throughout the book. I was on the edge of my seat, stressed with all these witnesses. Like: "Is it going to be a mistrial? Is he going to get off with murder?!?"

Then there's also an undercurrent of danger woven into the story that raises the intensity even further. (I'm going to leave it at that because we don't do spoilers at death row🤣)

Ps. Mr. Kline, I would love to have a word. Wherever his book is in the timeline, I'd like to get involved with that
Overall, this was a great first taste of this author's work. If you like Black Romance, legal dramas/opposing counsel romance, Guarded and ambitious FMCs, romance layered with suspense, you should give this book a try.

New author alert... You should read

Yes, you should read this one. The story is a legal drama with a slight romantic twist. Because I am a mystery buff, I knew who the villain was early on. Even with that said, the story was good.

Reasonable Doubt

Naomi is a rising prosecutor, and Malcolm Charles is a defense lawyer from his well-known family law firm. Carter & Carter. The attraction between these two attorneys
is there, and so are a lot of devious players trying to one up everything. It's a wild ride from beginning to end.

I can't wait to read Reasonable Doubt 2 debut this year. Hopefully soon!
