When a child won’t speak, someone must ask questions.

When a man with a violent past is found shot dead in his London flat, DCI Angela Lennox, an experienced and determined officer, is handed what should be an open-and-shut case. Until police discover the man’s eight-year-old son hidden in a cupboard.

A witness to the brutal crime, the boy refuses to speak.

DCI Angela Lennox knows silence like that comes from fear. The little boy does not behave like a witness whose danger is over, and Lennox believes there is more to the case than meets the eye.

As pressure mounts to close the case, DCI Lennox finds an ally in DI Reece Crosley, a sharp, instinctive, younger detective whose loyalty to the job is matched only by his loyalty to her.

Together, they begin to sense that the truth lies not in what happened that night, but in what others are determined to hide. And as they dig deeper into the case it becomes increasingly hard to keep their relationship strictly professional.

With her career under scrutiny and powerful forces urging her to move on, Lennox must choose between the system she serves and the instincts she trusts.

Because some crimes are not about the past. They are about the danger that still lurks…

Silent Witness is an absolutely gripping and tense, psychological crime thriller driven by a determined female detective who refuses to be silenced. Perfect for fans of Peter James, Lynda La Plante and Angela Marsons.

Struggled to finish this. Hoped it would get better but sadly not. Started promising but was so very repetitive and dull. Not sure how it got the 4 ⭐ rating. I’m giving it 2 as I did finish eventually but 1 would have been more appropriate. Lots of drivel.

Ehh. Good premise but I just didn’t care for the style maybe. And it was clear who it was.
And no real justice

Slow moving dud

I kept waiting and waiting for this book to get better, and then I was done with it. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this.
