Rate this book
The Brick City divas of Thicker Than Water are back with new drama taking them from Jersey's gritty hoods to Atlanta’s steamy streets and sultry Jamaica.

As if she hasn’t been through enough, princess Sasha’s got a new struggle on her hands. The love of her life might be locked down, but even that can’t keep her away. Can she choose between the hustler who broke her heart and the good guy who’s trying to mend it?

The follow up to TTW was actually not what I expected it was more that what I expected. Very different and very entertaining story line. I hated when I had to put the book down to take care of a few things. This is definitely a page turner, two thumbs up and five stars from me. Can't wait to read part 3 so I can see what happens with Ree, Tatum and Jayde!!!

Takerra's pen game MUST be studied! Yet another 5-star book that I raced through in just five short hours because I just couldn't put the book down. And it's on in this second book, as we get to catch us with some of our favorite, and some of our most hated, characters from the last book and it all culminates in absolute mess that I loved every word of. One of the things I think Takerra does so well is create characters with realistic flaws, and even if you don't like them or agree with their decisions, you're still going to be so invested in how their story evolves.

One of my least favorite, and one of the messiest characters, Nelli, is back in this book and with how the book ends, I hope this isn't the last we see of her. Nelli is finally out of the psych ward and wanting to make amends for all the madness she caused. And to refresh your memory, she was sleeping with Chauncey, she got Kim murdered, and she set Chris up as a thief which inevitably got him murdered. Her first step, getting Chauncey who was sentenced for almost killing her, out early on parole by testifying on his behalf. I thought that was pretty noble of her, and she quickly tries to move on and make amends with Sasha by warning her, but Sasha understandably beats her ass and tells her to keep it stepping. (as she should have). But what was Nelli trying to warn her of? We find out as the book comes to an end and we see, in her obsession to hurt Sasha, she hired Jayda to make her life a living hell. Oh by Jayda has her eyes set on the bigger prize. Who would be worried about cheating as Chauncey and Sasha when Ree is back in town from Jamaica? Like I said, I'm hoping Jayda didn't actually kill Nelli; I am curious to see how she is going to fit into this whole thing if she lives, and I'm curious if she'll ever be able to convince Sasha or Tatum to listen to what she has to say.

Sasha was a character I liked, but a character I was absolutely annoyed with in this book. Her inability to leave Chauncey alone was something I didn't understand. Chauncey may be fine, but he is in the street life, which Sasha doesn't like, AND he cheated on her over half of their relationship with her best friends. Why would she want to continue being with a man who slept with her friend after proposing to her? I was also disappointed in her decision to be two-timing Mike, and I knew it would not end very well. Turns out, Mike was stalking her and had proof of her having sex with Chauncey when he got released early and Mike goes NUTS! I knew how that situation would end8 once Chauncey figured out what was happening, and I'm not excusing Mike. But why the hell would Sasha marry him knowing she couldn't stand him? She doesn't like kissing him, will not have sex with him, does not show him affection, and played in his face with Chauncey their entire marriage. It seems by the end of the book, she decided to give Chauncey another chance, and moves in with him, but I know Jayda previous relationship with Nelli and her desire for Ree is definitely going to shake things up. And it won't help that she and Chauncey are working together.

By far, my favorite couple of the last book and this book was Ree and Tatum. They had a kind of maturity that wasn't seen in the other couples, or even the other characters. Ree knows that Tatum is the one for him, and she realizes the same when Sasha forces her to go on a trip to Jamaica and she sees him for the first time in two years. Their love was so apparent, it leaped off the pages. They had a fire intensity as well, and a security and ease to their relationship that just felt right. I was so happy for them getting engaged, and even being able to work through the fact that Ree apparently got Sasha pregnant. I was surprised Tatum agreed to stay with that revelation, but it shows how all in she is, especially after not having her nieces to influence her life decisions. But like I said, trouble is going to come in the name Jayda, the green-eyed, back-stabbing man stealing bitch (lol). I can't STAND her, and knew something wasn't right with her from the very beginning. She whispered something in Ree's ear that we are not privy to, and it has him wanting to stay in the city instead of going back to Jamaica, and the streets is a call Ree is unfortunately not equipped to ignore. It's in his blood. I literally can't wait to read this third, and last installment to this series and I just know it's going to messy

I loved this book...I would definitely have to mark this one as a favorite....This book was very well written...Takerra did an awesome job with the plots and twist in this book....I can't think of anything I would change besides the E situation....I was a little shocked at Neli's revelation...I new from the beginning Jade was gonna be a trip...I loved the way the story played out with Mike, Chauncey and Sasha...Honestly Mike bored me anyway...but he played the part...I look forward to the drama in this next book with Tatum, Ree,Trinity and Jade...This should be interesting...

Our girls are back . Sasha has married mike & now living in ATL with her daughter & Tatum is still in NJ raising her nieces & missing Ree like crazy. We’re introduced to Sasha Bff Jayde but is she trustworthy & neli is out the nuthouse wtf does she want?

I was surprised Sasha actually married Mike knowing there was no chemistry between them. She took the safe route knowing her heart was with Chauncey although he was locked up. This is why i say Sasha was a bird, she couldn’t function without the presence of a man. She had to be under one. She was so unhappy in her marriage she would masterbate to flashbacks from her & Chauncey. In book 2 she goes through alot of feelings emotionally & mentally esp once Chauncey is let out & moves to ATL. That stunt Mike pulled was crazy i didn’t expect that from his corny ass & the ending was well deserved .

Tatum is doing the best she can in NJ taking care of her niece until the mother now wants to fight her over a custody battle. Mind yu the mom was a cocaine addict . For Christmas Sasha gifted Tatum & girls trip to Jamaica in hopes of Running into Ree. But little did Tatum know Ree occupied his time with some else named trinity. The length trinity will go to keep Ree around was insane. Once Tatum & Ree reconnected it was nothing or no-one that could stop their love.

Jayde was an interesting character. After learning that she was the infamous leader of the Jcrew it all made sense . Something about her i didn’t like & towards the end of the book readers will figure out why. I hated what she did to E . E was definitely on to her. & her connection to Neli was interesting .

Neli is out the nuthouse but she trying to right her wrongs. Is it too late probably ???

This sequel picks up with Sasha and Mike married with Chauncey lingering in the background. This causes a lot of confusion in the marriage, but will true love win in the end?

Tatum is trying to move forward with her life, without Ree. Yet, reminders of him are everywhere. One girls trip and the circumstances change…for the better!

Respect has settled into his role of running a resort in Jamaica and even found sometime to occupy his time, but will his old life reach out to him and…at what cost?

Jayde is a new character in this series, and definitely not one to be trusted.

Book 2 was 10 times better than book 1…if that's even possible. I highly recommend this 💎💎💎💎💎 book and series by @bytakerraallen to anyone looking for a good read. I'm currently reading book 3, so stay tuned for my thoughts.

Still Thicker Than Water was exciting, with lots of drama and suspense. Dang, that Jayde is something else. So is the character Trinity as she tries to win Respect's love, but he is definitely in love with his fiancee, Tatum. I don't know who Trinity paid to falsify those paternity results but Ree is not the father. Maybe Sasha will find her HEA with Chauncey, maybe not?! But, I will definitely read Book 3 next to find out.
I gave this novel a 5 ***** rating. Yes, it was that good with well developed characters and story line that I would highly recommend.

A fitting end to a really good series. It seems like everybody did something behind everybody else's back. I was sad for Tatum & Ree, surprised Sasha pulled one over on Chauncey & Jayde didn't get nearly what she deserved.

The plot thickens!

There was a lot going on in this installment! Some of it I predicted based on context clues. But there were a few things that were totally unexpected! Now on to the finale... but first let me make sure my seatbelt is fastened!

Still...

Still Thicker Than Water by Takerra Allen is the highly anticipated sequel to Thicker Than Water. Last time we saw Tatum she was mourning the loss of her brother and raising his two daughters on her own and missing the love of her life, Respect. This time she is wondering what if. What if she would have left when he fled the states? Should she, could she go after him and try to find him now? What will/could happen if she does?

Sasha is now married to Mike, a doctor, who practically worships the ground Sasha walks on. Unfortunately, Sasha still has feelings for Chauncey, although he is locked behind bars. Little does Sasha know Chauncey is about to get out and when he does he is coming to reclaim his family. The question is what will Sasha do? Not to mention has Chauncey changed? What does he plan to do with his life once he is released? Will he go back to his old ways?

Still Thicker Than Water by Takerra Allen was a fast-paced, rollercoaster of a ride, drama-filled novel. It was a very good read! My only complaint is that there were a few things that just seemed a little too convenient and slightly unbelievable. All-in-all, Ms. Allen does an excellent job in keeping the reader engrossed from the very first page. I definitely recommend both books to readers of urban fiction!

Ok Im about to be convinced that Takerra Allen cannot write a bad book. The Betrayal and the secrets, the lies just keep on rolling. Just when you think that the knots cannot be tied any tighter, then BOOM..... another level of twists and turns. Im telling you talk about keeping your enemies near. Poor Sasha just does not even recognize the level of hate she is experiencing, so one wants to destroy her so bad they are willing to go after her child but they sadly underestimate the love that Chauncey still has for his former boo. Tatum still reeling from the death of her brother, is forced to raise his children alone! But how alone is she really?? Neli has made a comeback trying to right all the treacherous wrong she has done, but will it be too late? Then let's not forget Jayde a new version of the green-eyed monster who is willing to go to any lengths to get what she wants including those she has found to be expendable!! Oh and just when you thought Respect was long gone..... yep he's back, but he has trouble on his hands as well. Can I give this book 10 stars, loved it!! It's packed with action, drama, lies, betrayal and just low down funky dirtiness.

Once again this author did not disappoint , I just wish things turned out different for a few of the characters. I thought I liked Sasha but her ass is no better than Chauncey'S ass . . . I guess the only character I can like (so far) is Tatum she seems to be the only strong one so far :-) / / / I was really rooting for her and Ree smh just like his old comrade he's no better he just knows how to conceal his shit better. I guess the only one I'm rooting for is Tatum she's so pure and has a heart like no other I thought Sasha was my fav but nah Tatum has my heart . . . Jayde is trifling I want her character to be killed off ASAP this bitch is a scandalous queen pen who wants what she cant have.... Trinity needs to kick rocks for real she and Jayde are doing no better the schemes she's pulling had me blown away , I cannot wait to the others catch up to how grimey these hoes are. With books like this it makes it hard to believe there's genuine friends out here. Once again this book had me feeling every emotion it was a good read and had me speechless on more than one occasion.

Still Thicker than water picks up right where Part one left off.About two years have passed and the crew finds themselves trying to pick up the pieces. We are reunited with old characters as well as introduced to a few new faces. This book is full of drama and some surprises. I literally wanted to jump in and tell a few characters off at times and that to me, made it even better! I can't wait to see what the last and final installment holds! This series was my first by Takerra Allen, I can't wait to read more from her soon.

I read this book series years ago and just wanted to share that when asked what my favorite book is or need to put in a favorite book sign in question that Thicker than Water is what I put in. The twists and turns are mouth dropping and there were nights when I was tired and had work in the morning but could not find it in me to put the book down! I read the 2nd and 3rd part in 2 days flat! I'm looking hard for another book that has this much if not more excitement that TTW but to no avail nothing tops this in my opinion.

Another drama filled book that kept me on the edge of my seat. Just when you think things can't get worse, all hell breaks loose. Never a dull moment. Sasha and Tatum are still trying to get over losses of family and friends but new and old enemies will stop at nothing for revenge. There were shocking moments that I didn't see coming and hilarious chest- thumping moments between Chauncey and Mike that had me near tears laughing. I can't wait for the last book in this series.

Another 3.5 star read.
I like how the author keeps the books engaging and exciting.
But, how many crazy and sinister people can one person know?
Set two years after the first book, Sasha and Tatum are getting over Kim's death and Neli's horrible acts.
Trinity, Mike, Jayde are all plotting against then.
It doesn't make sense that Mike would all of a sudden show his crazy either.
Still, a good read.

In this book there were more lies, more betrayal and lots more drama. The obsessions ran deep. At some point during this story I wanted jump in the book and slap a couple of the characters upside the head. I love a story that can drag you in and have you emotional. Looking forward to the last book.
