Summarize the book
This is a book about five ninjas who go to an evil ninja’s island looking for their friend Zane. They think that he is being hidden there. They go under the guise that they are participating in a competition on the island but then search for Zane in their free time. They have a lot of adventures and dangerous events happen in their search. The end of the book leaves us with the ninjas figuring out that they can go IN to the island with trap doors. So their search for their friend lead them in the island instead of out of it.
Identify the characteristics from the text that support the specific genre
The characters are all realistic. Ninjas do exist. However this is a sci-fi because it is unlikely that this story would happen because it is too far off from reality.
Identify specific concepts that could be integrated into the classroom.
The best thing that students could take from this book would be the concept of teamwork. The characters in the book all work together for the same purpose and when they are not then things go badly.

My 4 year old and I read this and were disappointed when we got to the end. The title of the book is "The Search for Zane". When we finished, the first thing my son asked was, "Did they find Zane?" But that is not known. This book felt like it was wrapped up rather abruptly and without completing the story.

I'm a huge fan of Ninjago, so I was excited to pick this up from the library to read. Stuff in this book seemed familiar... but, honestly, it wasn't as good as I had hoped. It seemed to have a different situation happening throughout the book. Also, a cool perspective on 'the Ninja trying to find Zane' situation and the characters in the book really sounded like themselves on the TV show, so that was great! Overall, the book was okay and it'd be something I'd read again (not often though) in the future.
Btw, the version I read had a Tournament of Elements (TOE) cover... not a Rebooted one. It just makes no sense at all. Why does it show Jay holding a Techno blade and attacking a Nindroid when this book is not even related to that... 😐
