He said he’d never met a Mashie until he fell for me.

Superheroes are real. Unfortunately, so are Supervillains, and one turned me into a goat girl.

Since The Big Mash-Up things have been pretty tough for us Mashies—those who got stuck being half animal. I lost my home and my dreams. Now I’m working for minimum wage, dealing with a public that sometimes wishes I didn’t exist.

And then he walks into my life.
The sexiest man who’s ever ordered a drink from me.
Liam Jemison.

An entomologist working to help solve lingering issues from The Mash-Up, and the owner of the most adorable wind blown cheeks in Capital City, Liam is the right guy to make my tail wag. He tells me I’m the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen. His kisses make me feel like I’m on fire and every touch has me aching for more. He says he wants me and likes everything about me. It feels real but can I risk trust in a world like this?

Can I believe in Heroes when the world treats me like a Villain?

Goat Girl is meant to be enjoyed by adult readers. Though it’s part of a series, it can be read alone perfectly well. For content concerns please see the author's website.

This was a very quirk little adventure. It came across as a YA feel to it for the most part, until the sudden dirty talk and sexual situations arose during the last quarter of the story. And they got quite graphic awfully quick, which was a bit of a shock to me as the reader. That created a big disconnect for me, as it felt like two different styles and stories with not much of a flow. I also wanted to story to slow down and be developed more, instead of rushing along and not working with all the interesting aspects it brough to the table. For example, the mash-up event just got a quick summary, the concept of the world being under the role of superheroes and supervillians was almost untouched, Jill and Liam's individual characters didn't get a ton of spotlight, etc, just all got lost in the shuffle. I liked those parts a great deal and felt they should have been highlighted much, much more, and the story would have come across better. It had a lot of potential, but just never quite got to where it could have.

This was all cozy with an interesting world design, with some humans being “mashed” together with whatever animal they were touching when a thanos-like figure was like “there’s too many people”. I like that Jill had some goat behaviors, like randomly eating flowers. The kinds of prejudices that she experiences for her appearance fit how humans tend to react to differences. Liam was all cinnamon roll and they were both smitten pretty quickly. Jill tended to be easily spooked by anything red flag-ish, but did recognize her pattern and worked on it. Liam also made changes. Sweet story.

Spice: 3/5

Triggers: cheating and abuse (past partner), loss of bodily autonomy by only existing as a consciousness in another’s head (past), bigotry, poverty, mentions of death (past)

ARC REVIEW
This story between half goat/half girl FMC, Jill, and FMC Liam, a nerdy entomologist gamer boy, was so wholesome and I absolutely loved the premise. Life after superheroes but without focusing on the heroes and instead focusing on the cutest budding couple. Imagine a relatable RomCom set in a similar universe as “The Boys” but minus the violence and plus spice. Now I say wholesome…until you get to the spice near the end. Whew it’s good 🥵🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Sylvia Morrow somehow always makes her stories relatable and hard to put down!

SPOILERS AHEAD

I actually got to be an ARC reader for this one and I am so pumped you guys can read it now, too.

This is set in normal everyday life after super heroes were revealed and a supervillain caused an incident called The Big Mash up. Basically, people ended up merging bodies with whoever was near them, so two brains shared one body. Some people unfortunately were near animals at the time and merged with them, becoming what are called “Mashies.”

Our main character Jill is a half goat mashie who’s just trying to make it by as a barista. She meets a guy named Liam there and he is instantly enamored with her. Liam is a nerdy entomologist gamer boy, and when the story is told from his POV it’s exactly how I imagine a 25 year old dude would tell his story.

Anyway, they start to date but along the way we are shown the discrimination and prejudice shown towards mashies, even so far as Liam blocking one of his oldest friends because he realizes he’s a bigot.

I don’t want to reveal it all because I really think you should read it, but there is some more relationship stress as they learn to trust one another. When they finally do and get it on, a whole other side to our sweet, nerdy Liam comes out and it is…phew.

The author, Sylvia Morrow, also wrote Stuffed - but make no mistake this is not the same type of story. Imagine a relatable RomCom set in a similar universe as “The Boys” but minus the violence and plus spice. Read at your own risk!

superheroes are real but sadly so are villains. following a major magical event, our beautiful little badass protagonist, jill, is mashed with a goat, leaving her with both human and goat features. the world is not so accepting of “mashies” and she faces loads of hate, bullying, and prejudice. then along comes sweet liam, who doesn’t care that jill is half goat. can jill learn to trust again?

this story is so fucking cute and also spicyyyy in all the best ways. my first time where the FMC is a monster/shifter/whatever. i wish it was longer because it was so fun to read. my only gripe is how quick jill is to cut things off at the very first signs of a potential problem/fight. overall though this story will still with me for a while. definitely will be recommending this to everyone. five stars babyyy

i was lucky enough to receive an ARC in exchange for my honest review <3

‎"You have to promise me not to panic and try to leave every time you think there might be a problem."
‎— Liam.

‎💚 She’s half human and half goat!
‎💚 He’s a sweet entomologist
‎💚 First person dual POV
‎💚 Instalove, but make it cute
‎💚 Surprisingly hot
‎💚 Hidden identity
‎💚 Wait ... He was mashed with who?!

‎Imagine a world where one day a villain throws a tantrum because he thinks humans are terrible and should be wiped out. His brilliant idea? Surprise, surprise, not targeting corrupt governments or stopping wars. Nope. Instead, he decides to mash two people into one. Some people get lucky and keep their bodies. Others ... Meh, they get the short end of the stick and only keep their consciousness with limited abilities.

‎And some people are just really unlucky, because they get mashed with animals instead, like our FMC, Jill.

‎They’re called Mashies.

‎The concept of this book reminds me a lot of Saoirse Ronan’s movie The Host, but make it quicker and extra sweet, without the unnecessary love triangle 🙄

‎Here, we only have Liam, our cinnamon roll MMC, who is the complete opposite of his bigoted friend. Liam doesn’t shove his religion or political views all over social media. He doesn’t make assumptions about Jill even though she’s the first Mashie he’s ever met. He’s gentle, kind ... And apparently really into furry girls. Mm, let’s forget the last part 😳

‎Either way, be like ✨ Liam ✨ everyone.

‎This was such a cute and surprisingly spicy story. I didn’t expect that! The opening is sweet, before suddenly it switches gears near the end and hits you like spicy ramen after eating candy.

‎Honestly, I would’ve preferred more cute dates instead. Not saying I’m a prude who clutches pearls at the word cock, yk, my Goodreads is basically half chaos and half smut. But with instalove, jumping straight into bed felt a bit ... Eh, too much for me 😬

‎Don’t get me wrong, the scenes are actually pretty good. There are adorable moments, like Liam touching Jill’s tail, how careful he is with her, and him nuzzling her fluffy ears. It’s just personal taste! And heyya, I understand you can’t really expect a slow burn in a novella.

‎Still, it was super cute. We’ve seen plenty of cat boys/girls or half doggie characters. But a half goat girl? That’s fresh! 👀 The part where Jill gets upset and starts climbing the furniture? Awww, adorable. I just wanted to hug her. C'mere my sweet girl 🥺

‎The world building is introduced just enough to set the foundation, but it still left me with questions. Likeee, idk, what happens if a human has a baby with a Mashie? In four years, there should’ve been at least a few oops babies, no matter how careful people are. I wanted more details about the world, the early adaptations, maybe even more body horror??? 🤔

‎I mean imagine your family living inside your head. Absolute nightmare fuel 💀

‎While reading this, I started imagining what would happen if I lived in the Mashie universe. Would I get mashed with someone else? Probably not, because I usually sleep next to my asshole cat. And that would still be a nightmare. Like, even worst.

‎Huge thanks to Sylvia Morrow for the e-copy! This was such a nice, cozy read before I dive into Poison Princess 💚

Delightful quick read of two people falling in love in a version of our world with superheroes and supervillains while overcoming their own past trauma. This makes it sound heavier than it was - there are definitely heavy themes, but it was a fairly light read.

Jill was Mashed with a goat during the Mash Up caused by supervillain Darkiss. She’s one of the luckier animal-human Mashies since she retains her human cognition and her changes are physical - goat horns, eyes and a tail. She’s struggling to get by in a world mostly prejudiced against her when she meets Liam.

Liam is all in from the beginning. He was formerly mashed with his cheating gold-digger fiance and was done with relationships until he saw Jill and KNEW.

There’s dirty talking spicy spice, Liam gets to explore his latent bossy side and scientific breakthroughs - along with a sly epilogue that’ll have you diving right into the sequel!

Thanks so much to the author for the gifted copy. This was so fun and I’m thrilled to dive into this world.

I don’t know why it took me so long to read this book; it’s a complete adventure. It has comedy, superheroes, villains, romance, and excellent world-building. In so few pages, you get all of this, and you can’t stop reading. I finished it in an hour because the story was so good I couldn’t put it down. Sylvia always surprises me with her stories—she’s one of my favorite writers. The characters are so adorable. I just want to protect Jill and make sure no one bothers her; she’s been through so much, just like Liam. We need to protect them both and not let anyone hurt them. They are so lovable. My heart broke for everything poor Liam went through, and yet he’s always smiling and willing to help others. Sylvia, I don’t know how you manage to write something so sweet and spicy at the same time, but let me tell you, Liam surprised me when he showed all his love to Jill 😏. I wish this book would continue—I was left wanting to read more—it’s perfect! Jill is so cute, with her little ears and tail. She and Liam make a beautiful couple—they’re made for each other.

*swoon*

K now my thoughts - This is a cute, cozy feel good read with a HEA.  Liam seems like a sweet golden retriever type - but the things he would say during "spicy" time 🥵🥵  The characters go through some bigotry - coz of course let's blame the goat girl 🙄  Overall, a sweet, cozy, easy read.

4⭐️ and 2🌶 according to my spicy scale 😉

I received this book as an arc to read with my friend who loves Sylvia’s books. I quickly fell in love with the way the male mc looked at her and didn’t judge her for what she looked like. It’s a great story of body positivity and acceptance and not giving up no matter what others think of you. Hoping Sylvia will write a 2nd book to let us know what happens to the rest of the mashies.

Such a unique world and a really cool concept, but the execution fell a little short for me.

Liam and Jill were great characters on their own, but their romance and dialogue kind of read like a 90s teen movie and not in a funny way.

It’s a short novella and it has a lot of potential. While it didn’t work for me, I can see it being an enjoyable read for those looking for a quick read.

🌶️🌶️

This was an okay read for me. The concept honestly did most of the heavy lifting. A world dealing with the aftermath of superheroes where some people are literally merged with animals? I love a weird premise and this one had so much potential.

The story doesn’t shy away from racism and bigotry toward mashies, and at times it was hard to read because of how real that prejudice felt. That part definitely made an impact.

Liam was such a sweetheart. Soft, nerdy, completely obsessed with Jill in the cutest way. And Jill was genuinely kind and just trying to survive in a world that doesn’t treat her fairly.

The pacing felt a little uneven for me, especially toward the end, but overall it was a solid read with a unique idea and a couple I enjoyed.

GOAT GIRL @authorsylviamorrow
The Mashiverse book 1 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If the artwork doesn’t pull you in, the story definitely will. Living in a world where privilege is a real thing, it’s up to you to decide whether you use that for harm or good.
Listen to others - be mindful.

Jill & Liam do an adorable job of exploring these tough situations in this cozy monster love story. Though I do wish there had been some aggressive head butting… (you’ll understand when you read it lol) and you WILL read it, because Sylvia is the sweetest bean and because I’m asking you nicely 💕

Going into this book I expected your normal romance, but its anything but normal.. IN THE BEST WAY!!! The superhero was new for me being that i normally like the villians, but apparently superheros have just as filthy mouths. This book did feel a little long in the beginning however it did speed up towards the end. I can't wait to read more urban fantasy romances by Sylvia!!
I LOVED IT!!

I LOVED the concept of this story & the whole universe the author built out! It was SO unique and made me want more, which tbh sometimes that's hard to find in the romance world (which is okay, I like the same things sometimes too, but I also LOVE new ones especially like this!). We're thrown into the time after The Big Mash-Up! Where some humans are still stuck being - well mashed up with half animals and are now referred to as Mashies, which as you can imagine not everyone is okay with (both mashed and non). Now enter our cutie lil goat girl Jill who is doing THE best she can despite the life she was mashed upon (mashed with? mashed towards? mashie ok I'm done). I loooooved Jill, she just wanted to be out on a farm away from the hustle and bustle, not giving overpriced drinks to customers who stare at her. Except when of those customers is our nerdy bug scientist Liam who is down BADDDD for Jill. UGH their chemistry was ADORABLE. The kind where you're giggling and kicking your feet. Of course we have the spice which is well timed might I add. And before you ask, Jill let's you know that yes she is a human underneath her clothes, don't get it twisted lolol. Did my eyes do the "GET REAL BIG OUTTA NOWHERE" thing? Hell yeah. Was it fun? Absolutely. I really appreciated the storyline also going into showing the prejudices and discrimination that Jill encountered and what (and how) Liam did with this information and the interactions. This is another newer to me author, and after I read this one - I automatically went and started the second book in this universe - it's just THAT good y'all.

So similar to Thano's finger snap and half the population disappeared? In this one, people got mashed together with another person or the closest mammal creating "mashies".
Luckily most people were able to be unmashed but the ones mashed with animals weren't.

This story is about a goat mashie Jill who works at a coffee shop taking care of her family while dealing with the ignorant Assholes of the world.
Liam is a nerdy scientist just looking for his caffeine fix and finds a whole other addition.

Watching these two navigate their relationship from two sides of the track was so healthy! And the spice....I did not know our nerdy Liam had that in him 😳. I loved everything that made her a goat. It was just too freaking cute! I wanna be her friend!

It was painful to watch the bigotry in the book but it's not that different from what we see everyday. Everyone needs to be better in and out of the book.

Loved the introduction into this universe and can't wait to see what comes next.

"I didn't think I'd ever find someone who could make my heart feel fucking alive again. That is, until I walked into a coffee shop and saw a beautiful woman behind the counter. So beautiful I couldn't even speak at first."

This novella was so adorable and sweet. Somehow Sylvia managed to pack in romance, a bit of world building, characters experiencing prejudice and bullying, trauma healing, and delicious spicy moments all into about 100 pages. And I was hooked from the beginning!

Jill is so sassy and sarcastic and I loved reading her POVs. But gosh did I tear up a little bit when she had to experience all those horrible things just for being a mashie.

And protect Liam at all costs! It was heartbreaking reading his story and what happened to him. I'm glad they found each other and are helping one another heal from their traumas.

Perfect short, spicy romance to read on a cozy, Fall day!

This BOOK, in all its smutty glory (and it was indeed glorious), left me a blubbering mess even after I finished the last chapter lol Did I learn something about myself and maybe accidentally dug up some old trauma? um... YEAH 😂😂

Goat Girl is often mistreated by strangers who consider her as a second-class citizen due to her special features. We see her being ignored, chased out of a store at the mall (this scene broke me), and just being treated differently because she "looks" different. You can probably tell where this is going in relation to yours truly.

I loved that the author was able to carve such an intricately-designed society and caste system into a wonderful short story, one that touched on sensitive topics, e.g. ostracization, xenophobia, and bigotry. I'm probably not doing the MMC justice by not going into details of how patient he is when she tries to push him away expecting him to hurt her, how he stands up for her when others mock her, and how he finally takes control back from his own past hurt and trauma.

That being said, it doesn't detract from the fact that THE SMUT IS HOT HOT HOT lol I LOVED the smut ❤ Good smut 😂

Sometimes, it is the seemingly ‘zany’ stories that reveal the most about our society. This is certainly true with Goat Girl by Sylvia Morrow. Beyond writing a story in which the main female character is mashed up with a goat in a Machiavellian plan set up by a villain, the author highlights the flaws of our society, which unfortunately still rejects people who appear ‘different’ to the ‘norm’, as defined by who knows whom. This made the book extremely interesting and I appreciated it even more.

Of course, the characters are very important to me when I read a book. Here, I found Jill and Liam to be adorable and wholesome. Jill is a very brave FMC who has to deal with almost daily remarks from anti-mashies—mashies being humans who have been fused with animals. As a result of the Great Mash-Up, she was forced to abandon one of her dreams due to her deteriorating mental health. One day, a new customer walks into the café where Jill works, and that’s how we meet Liam. He is an entomologist working on a treatment to separate the few remaining humans who have been mashed with other humans. On the day he meets Jill, he falls head over heels for her at first sight. He is a real dork, but in the most endearing sense of the word. I really enjoyed this MMC.

Goat Girl is definitely worth reading, not only because of the improbability of a woman being merged with a goat, but also because it denounces the discrimination that is still far too prevalent in the 21st century—and even more so today, unfortunately.

Jill makes a cute goat. I laughed when her co-worker had to tell her to quit eating the flower arrangement. I would like to say this is the only time that Jill has done this, but it is a weekly occurrence.

Liam definitely gave me golden retriever vibes. He is a sweetie. It is a good thing that Jill was not turned off by his lack of flirty. He is awkward but that it what made him endearing. When Liam said the "f" word, I gasped as it is not like him. I swooned when Liam said, "I just...I love you. That's all."

I really enjoyed this book. Already I am in love with the "Mashies". I got like comic book vibes with the "Normies" and the "Mashies". I would not mind being turned into a mashie. Honestly never thought about a goat but after seeing Jill, I would not be mad if I was mashed with a goat.

This is a fun book and a good start to this series. I look forward to reading the next book.

This short story by Sylvia will have you giggling until you cry then actually cry. Jill, a half goat “mashie” works at a coffee shop to make ends meet while supporting her mom and uncle. Liam, a cute and nerdy bug scientist stumbles into the coffee shop one day looking for a sweet treat but instead finds two. Your heart will ache when you read about the bigotry that happens in this universe similar to our own. Also Jill is just the cutest. Her ears and tail, I die. AND THAT MOUTH WHEW. She’s a legend. You will absolutely love her. Liam has quite a way with words too. Sylvia has such a beautiful way of writing the silliest of stories and turning them into such sweet and spicy tales. This book was nothing short of that. At this point Sylvia can write anything and I will read it and absolutely love it. She can do no wrong in my eyes.

This was sooooo cute. The tag wagging. The side glances. The spice does not disappoint, but that 3rd act breakup… Lord, how I hate that trope sometimes. Every once in a blue moon, I just want smooth sailing and I wanted that for Jill and Liam. Thankfully, there’s makeup XXX and the HEA is sweet and closes out their journey well.

This was so sweet and pretty spicy, given that it’s only 100-ish pages. Guaranteed HEA and a MMC with a surprise dirty mouth.

It does dig into some really negative behaviors and prejudices that humans can exhibit, so please check your trigger warnings before reading.

3.75 stars - I had no idea what to expect going into this story, but I was happily greeted with body positivity and acceptance. For anyone wondering if this dips into beastiality, I guess it depends on who you ask...but I'd say no because she explains that she has a human body underneath her clothing. There were two scenes where Jill, the main female character, runs off without communicating to Liam, the main male character, which bothered me...but fortunately, Liam confronted Jill about it (which made me happy because you don't see characters getting called out for their miscommunication often).

I got this along with the ARC of the second book of the series. I wasn't sure what I was going to read with the title Goat Girl but said what the heck let's give it a go.

This is set in a Mashieverse where people where mashed together, either with other people or animals depending on what or who the person was with when the villain used his powers.

Taking aside the fact, Jill has goat aspects of her like horns and a tail, you could basically put her with any "dis"ability and it would read the same about people's prejudices towards others.

This was a great short read and definitely recommended for something a little different.

This story came very highly recommended to me, and after reading it I can certainly see why.

This story between “Mashie” (a human x animal person) FMC Jill, a barista and MMC Liam, a scientist was incredibly cozy, and I loved the world building that went into this. Since this story is set in world where superheroes and supervillains exist, it was refreshing to see the world introduced through the lens of those without superpowers.

The story does get spicy in the last quarter of the book, and the spice scenes are well done. (especially the dirty talk) I just wish we had a little bit more time with the characters, but I really enjoyed the story and the world.

First, I’ll start by saying thank you for the ARC!!

This book is dual POV, short, spicy, cute, and DIFFERENT.

In this book, a villain came about, and merged people with whoever/whatever animal they were closest to. In Jills case, she is part goat. Will she find love? Will mashies ever be turned back into their original bodies?

I think my only real complaint about this book, is her trying to run at every single inconvenience, instead of just communicating. Other than that, I don’t have any problems. Thanks for creating another great book, Sylvia 🤭

🐐 Supernatural
🐐Super heros
🐐 Body positively
🐐 Insant love
🌶🌶

This book was fantastic. Not only is the plot interesting and fun, but the instant love story of the characters makes your heart swell.

Our FMC has to deal with body issues, society, and mental health issues.

Enters our MMC, who is nothing but green flags.

Great book, I loved the characters and story. I can't wait for more books from this author 😍 💕

Ahhhhh omg this was so cute. Jill and Liam were adorable separately- but together? Ugh- I ate em both up.

Jill is a mashie (part goat, part girl) trying to navigate a world thats afraid of her while also trying to live her dreams.

Liam is a bug scientist (do not expect me to remember the term yall) who is trying to live a life separate of his famous dad.

They meet and its lile the stars aligned perfectly. I love me a good spicy, sweet and short story. And this checked all my boxes while also saying fuck the patriarchy.

Love me some Sylvia Morrow reads!!

I loved this story!
Her writing is unique, sweet, endearing, and gives you all the feels!
She tackles difficult topics of insecurities, and self image, while showing that we all are beautiful and deserve love, and that sometimes that love is found in the most unlikely of places.
Everything Sylvia writes is amazing, and she is one Author I will accept no Criticism about.

Absolutely adorable!

I loved this book! I'm a huge fan of fluffy romances with imaginative hooks, and the light fantasy elements of the superhero angle was just the ticket. The world building was fun, and Jill was adorable. I really liked watching her and Liam's relationship grow. What a cute little read! 5 stars :)
