Shifting Allegiance
After the last job with Soren goes terribly wrong, Moira's list of enemies grows longer by the day.
One of those enemies she shares with Ethan, a Shifter Lord who has haunted Moira's thoughts ever since she spied on him over a year ago. Forced to work together, Moira has to fight her growing fascination with the powerful leader in order to protect her growing found family and her peaceful way of life.
But with a body and mind made for war, Ethan isn't a man who promises peace, and Moira's fascination, as it turns out, goes both ways. A fun, lighter read between bigger fantasy books. It was exactly the palate cleanser I needed.
That said, I was left with a lot of unfinished business. I know the author is trying to keep readers invested in the series, but this cliffhanger was brutal. I'm not a fan of endings that leave that much unresolved.
I'll probably keep reading because I need answers... but I'm definitely side eyeing that ending. 😂

fantastic storytelling in every way

I’m not sure how each of these stories manages to get increasingly complex and more devastating by the book but with Shifting Allegiance, Shifter Lords Book 11, Moira’s journey takes a truly dark, intensely horrifying turn of events which ends with a terrifying cliffhanger.
Babin has created for her Shifter Lords series a case of remarkable characters, including a group of women , goddesses, faes, vampire, otherworldly beings who have close ties to each other through family bonds or friendships that are now so tightly woven together that they are a force of nature and magic. Each woman comes with her own unique identity, often traumatized past and depths of character. The series may have begun with Evie’s journey but these same women have grown and developed over time and as events has changed them all.
Now they circle and surround Moira as her evil witch mother returns to reclaim her daughter and seed her revenge against her own daughter who escaped from her mother and the tortured life she inflicted upon her.
I’ve loved Moira from the beginning of the series. She’s been a great character, true friend, one who not only told Evie the truth about her relationship as the toxicity with Caelan was increasing but stayed true to support her. Even though her own issues.
My heart breaks for Moira here over and over. Especially when Ethan’s past is revealed in the harshest, most tragic way. And let’s not for Cerunnos’ and his own personal reasons for being in Moira’s life.
Layer upon layer, Babin builds a narrative that is dramatic, deeply rooted in family, trauma, love and devastation. There’s past child abuse mentioned as well as torture. Truly tragic and dark.
But for all the characters who aren’t redeemable, Babin gives us those who are. Like the goddess Cliome, Evie’s mother, who started off the series in the role of villain and now is a permanent part of the inner circle that surrounds her daughter and friends. And, even Caelan, who I absolutely despised, has made a tremendous turnaround here.
That’s why this is so incredible and the writing so fascinating and well executed.
But now I have to wait, probably for another cliffhanger too. It’s just the way this series is rolling.
And it will probably be one of my favorites.
It’s one I highly recommend reading right now.

Moira and Ethen have a complicated relationship. Although there I major attraction between them, he is still loyal to his dead love. Moira can’t push it so stays in a relationship with Cernunnos.
When Moira is called to Ethan’s for a problem for the liaison, things really start to fall apart.
Ethan is hit by a spell cast by Moira’s mother which really makes a mess of things.
This is a big no-no. with the help of Evie and Ari; they set out to investigate.
This book has a bit of mystery, surprises, suspense, humour, great characters and interactions.
This is an easy, quick read. It has a couple of parts which take away any lightness but it is well worth the read.
It is connected to the previous books and I don’t think it would be anywhere near as enjoyable without reading them first.
I’ve got to admit that as soon as one comes out, I read it.

Gosh, darn it! I just finished this book, and I’m not a real happy camper! LOL! Let’s back up a minute…this is the second book in Moira’s part of the series and the 11th in Evie’s part. Moira’s mom is up to more shenanigans, and Moira’s having issues with her paramour, or whatever you want to call him. This latest has Moira and her friends walking on eggshells, running all over to find Moira’s mom, and trying to figure out what’s up with Moira’s weird magic. I absolutely adored this book, but I admit that the end left me aggravated I have to wait a little bit to find out what happens. Wonderful addition to the series. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

All I can say is, wow! This is not what I was expecting. I thought Moira was really going through it in book 10, but book 11 is a whole other level. I love that Evie, Rowan, & Cliona are there for Moira. As well as the budding relationship with Ari. They will make quite the trio, I hope! Moira’s mom is truly horrendous, honestly a villain we love to hate. This book is a gut punch for those of us that love our feisty vampire. I really hope there is a book 12, this can’t be the end for our Little Shop of Florals family! Anxiously waiting for book 12.

Great continuation of this Series
Moira is a enigma wrapped in sparky faithful livable character. My first words at the end of this book were " Nooooo....I need to know what happens! I have a love/hate relationship with cliff hangers. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and counting the days for the next to find out what happens. Highly recommend!

OMG this was so good! Moira is a total badass and her list of enemies is growing even longer! It’s a gripping read, suspenseful, full of mystery and humour and is complex and a little dark and has you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. It’s a great read and I look forward to what comes next.

I feel that this book is better than the last book in this series. The FMC‘s mother is definitely a piece of work. I feel bad for Ethan with the problems that are going on with him right now. I will definitely read the next book in the series

Was okay. I hate memory loss stuff. Definite change with her and Cernunnos. We get fun Evie but she's so different from original Evie with layers.
