Moira is a new power player in a world of hungry paranormals, but she'd rather be curled up with a blanket, ignoring the world.
Unfortunately, the Shifter Lords have other plans for her.
Moira still works at her best friend's flower shop but also serves part-time as a magical consultant for both the fae and the Lords. Her cases run the gamut from investigating petty crimes all the way to working in close proximity to the Lords as they track down rogue shifters.
But when she's asked to take a case working with Soren, an infuriating Lord she has history with, Moira refuses, only to find out the case they're investigating involves someone from her past. Reluctantly, she accepts the gig, only to start sabotaging Soren around every corner.
She holds no loyalty to anyone these days, and certainly not to someone who'd stab her in the back with the least provocation. But when the case proves more difficult than she anticipated, and she and Soren get in way over their heads, they must find a way to work together or die.
When it turns out Soren is hiding a very unique talent—one that ensures they could survive what's coming after them—Moira must learn to trust her enemy and hope he's not still mad about that teeny tiny time she stabbed him in the back...
A slow-burn paranormal romance, with sharp banter, and high-stakes supernatural intrigue.

Amazing narrative storytelling and fabulous character development. Highly recommended.

Shift Happens takes S. E. Babin’s fantastic Shifter Lords urban fantasy series into its second section with Moira taking the lead as the main character for the last (I think) group of stories.
And honestly, Moira’s journey looks to be dark, emotionally devastating and absolutely heartbreaking in many of its major elements. Things only hinted about in Evie’s storyline are peeled back, starting here.
Dark, horrifying, damaging abuse done to Moira as a child by her mother. Mental, emotional and overwhelmingly physical trauma that made her who she is today. Then there’s the recent magical extras that being god touched has given her and the devastating events that occurred during Evie’s finale.
Moira’s development has been linked with Evie’s journey to Evie becoming the Queen of Fae. It’s folded in her complex relationship with Evan, one of the Lords that now plays a key role in her life.
Moira’s called on by the Lords, including Evan, to investigate a mysterious case of dark magic happening on the territory that is now being run by Soren, an ex of Moira’s .
Shift Happens is a dark and fabulous tale. It reveals much about the past of the main characters and sets in motion some terrifying storylines for the books going forward.
I didn’t think anything would be able to top Evie’s finale but Moira’s arc might just do it.
Amazing narrative storytelling and fabulous character development. Highly recommended.

This book starts the Moira section of the series. Moira is a vampire with lots of secrets. She has strange powers, doesn’t seem to rely on blood as much as other vampires and more history that no one knows about. She also has a strange relationship with the lord Ethan, they’re attracted to each other but because of his past, he won’t let anything happen although he’s very possessive about her. Moira is now the liaison between the lords and the fae, a magical consultant. When some witches start to threaten Soren, Moira shows up and then the fun starts. Soren is/was a horn dog and that seems to be what caused the problems. He slept with several members of the coven and each woman seemed to thing there was more than sex involved. Due to some strange spells cast by the witches it is discovered that Moira’s mother is involved. There is definitely a lot more to be said about her. This book has action, magic, mystery, surprises (some big), suspense, humour and romance. It is a quick, easy read and this series and author have become some of my favourites. The next book in this series is out in about a week, followed by more near the end of the year. I can hardly wait.
Well...this book took a turn I did NOT expect. The BFF with the father??? I don't quite know how I feel about that. 🤔 Right now, I'm leaning towards a hard no.
As always, the writing is fast paced and gets straight to the point. But I don't feel the whole Soren and Moira situation was developed enough to justify Moira's level of murderous rage. The emotional connection just wasn't there for me.
The same goes for the sudden lust and trust between Moira and Evie's dad, Cernunnos. One minute we're still invested in Ethan and getting hurt by his rejection, again, and the next we're rebounding with Cernunnos...and somehow trusting him even more? I didn't feel like there was enough groundwork for that shift.
I'm also still confused about Moira's mother. What exactly did she do? We know Moira was turned into a vampire without her consent, and we know her mother is a Grade A cunt because of the abuse. But what abuse? The book keeps hinting at it without ever really explaining it. It felt like we fast tracked through a huge part of Moira's past.
And finally...what was up with Evie? Was she high for this entire book? 🤣

I like Moira, I have since the first book in Evie's part of the series. However, I'm not sure that I loved this book as much as I'd hoped to. After the explosive ending to Evie's narrative, I think Moira's less intense story just makes it feel a bit quieter, and I wasn't expecting that. Ethan and Soren are both being pains in the arse, as per usual it seems, and Moira has finally come to a sticking point where she can't let Ethan treat her as less than, and all this comes to a head when a coven of witches are after Soren's blood for what he has done to more than a few ladies. Fairly fast paced, and with more of Moira's past being revealed, this was still a fun book to read, and I can't wait to see what happens with Cernunnos. Not bad, just not what I was anticipating.
I am continued to be blown away by this author’s books, and of course this latest in the series is no exception. We are now seeing things from Moira’s point of view of continuing events, and boy is it very interesting, especially an unexpected turn of events between Moira and…well, I can’t say; what I can say is that I don’t think I’m happy about it! LOL! We learn a lot about Moira’s past, and it’s not pretty. I’m excited to read the next book, but I know we’re approaching the end, and I am definitely not ready. Next, please. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
If you’ve read Evie’s books then the characters here will be very familiar to you. Though these center around Moira and her exploits. I will say the tone is a bit darker than the Evie books but not overly so. It’s a little weird with Cernunnos. You’ll have to read to find out more. I liked Moira as the wacky bff but I am definitely loving ,earning more about her past even though it’s not all sunshine and roses. The new job is cool so we’ll still get cameos from some familiar faces but new problems and new baddies. Exciting new start and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
All I can say is, woah! Moira’s story does not disappoint! Our girl is really going through it. We learn more about Moira’s deep dark history. There is more to her and Ethan’s story. Soren and his *boy ways are causing problems. Evie, Rowen, & Cernunnos are still major players, which is nice. We get to see new friendships develop along with new characters. I can’t wait to see what happens for our favorite *vampire* next!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I like Moira in this book. She doesn’t let any of the Lords in this book walk all over her. I do think it’s funny how relentless they tease Soren because of all of his sexual conquest. Unfortunately, now there is a coven of witches trying to destroy one of the Lords and Moira has to help him figure out how to get rid of them. She also gets a very big surprise in this book. I will definitely read the next book in the series.
I can't wait to see what happens next! This is a great series, I love the community, the love of friends and lovers! The whole family is involved. And every book keeps the same main players, you get a new adventure but you don't have to learn new main characters.
Interesting to have Moira’s history and a better understanding to her power. The Lords are up to their usual shenanigans and getting into trouble, as you would expect one of them needs help and Moira is sent in.
