Sweet story filled with faith. The importance of Jesus in our lives is the central point in this fiction story. Personal struggles, life changes and seeking romance all contribute. Worth the read. This book was provided by the author for me to read. The opinions expressed here are my own thoughts.
Tender story of faith, forgiveness and romance in a small town. The story follows Nora, a talented baker that wants to win the Valentine cookie competition. Nora has long struggled with a negative self-image; her journey involves letting go of past insecurities and finding her identity in Jesus rather than her appearance or a judge’s score. The romance is sweet, grounded in faith. It is a beautiful reminder that true love sees past the broken pieces to the beauty within. It is a story about how God can take a “broken cookie” and make it part of a beautiful new masterpiece.
I loved how the author incorporated her own faith journey into Nora’s story.
Just because we choose to follow Jesus doesn’t make life all sunshine or decisions and choices easy ones. Temptation to fall into old patterns is real.
Feeling unchosen and unworthy creates Valentine’s Day angst for Nora. Being transformed by His love, she must confront each challenge as it comes and make decisions to honor Jesus. Mean girls treated Nora poorly in school. She’s an adult now, and those mean girls come in even tougher packages. How will Nora choose to be a witness for Jesus?
This quick read was filled with so much truth for all of us to ponder in our day to day lives as we pray to follow Him.
I received an ARC from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A sweet, uplifting story that will entertain, encourage, inspire and resonate with the reader, directing each one to the God Who understands, cares and loves through it all. Nora, Ella, Bud, Jackson and countless others are each a piece of the completed puzzle as the citizens of Lynden band together to overcome sabotage, deceit, lies and insurmountable obstacles, leaning on and trusting their Father to bring victory out of defeat, joy out of sorrow and healing from hurts so deep, as only He can. Refreshing read from the heart of the author to the heart of each one who opens its pages!
Nora was a realistic and enjoyable character for me. Her challenges with her self-image and value by others gave readers an internal peek into this issue. I've not suffered with what she did, and the author gave me a better understanding of what thoughts and feelings control and drive some people. (Don't want to give spoilers). I liked that Nora grew and worked on many aspects of her life that were destructive for her. She matured in her emotional, spiritual, and relational health. Her faith in Jesus helped her the most.
Nora and Jacksons story is a meant to be one. Nora manages a local bakery and is experimenting with a new broken heart cookie for Valentines day and a baking competition. Jackson is a good friend that she spends time with on Wednesdays. Both Nora and Jackson are deep in their faith but like the rest of us they falter and have moments where they wonder why. I found this to be a sweet, faith based, clean, and heartwarming romance.
