The Hot Honey Hideaway by Harper Graham is a cosy, community-oriented romance with a touch of mystery that completely pulled me in. From the very beginning, the small-town atmosphere felt warm and comforting, and the way the author brings the town and its people to life made this such an easy and enjoyable read. Alongside the romance, there’s also the mystery surrounding the grandmother’s disappearance, which added another layer to the story and kept me intrigued throughout.
When new boy Joe arrives in town, there’s an instant attraction between him and Kristia. At first, I’ll admit I struggled to connect with their relationship because the attraction and chemistry between them felt very sudden, and I wasn’t sure I fully believed how quickly everything progressed. However, the further I got into the book, the more I realised I was completely wrong. Their connection grew on me so naturally, and by the end I truly believed they were meant for one another. They balanced each other perfectly and ended up being the ideal match.
One of the standout aspects of this book is Harper Graham’s writing style. The author has such a warm and immersive way of writing that makes you feel part of the community and emotionally connected to the characters. The pacing, emotional moments, and cosy atmosphere all came together beautifully. I especially loved the mystery element surrounding the grandmother’s disappearance — it added suspense without taking away from the heartwarming romance. And the ending was absolutely amazing, leaving me completely satisfied and smiling by the final page.
Overall, this was such a cosy and enjoyable read filled with romance, mystery, and a strong sense of community. I ended up loving this story far more than I expected, and I would definitely recommend it to readers who enjoy heartfelt small-town romances with emotional depth and a touch of intrigue.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Harper Graham for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I think this might be the best one yet 💕✨ I love love loved it! It’s the perfect summer read & really feels like that first hit of sunshine on your face.
I loved both Krista & Joe, together & as individual characters. I felt like I connected with them both but for different reasons & their relationship felt genuine & well developed rather than rushed.
I also loved the little touch of mystery & how everything came together at the end. And as always the sense of community in this series just makes it even more special!! I genuinely hope it never ends. I just want to live there at this point.
Such a feel-good read. five summery stars!
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review
This is the fourth book in the small-town romance series, Maple Falls. The series is made up of interconnected standalones so can be read in any order.
When I picked up this ARC, I was in the mood for a cosy, easy-reading experience with minimal drama and a wholesome, close-knit community vibe — and I'm happy to report that this book delivered just that!
I really enjoyed the summertime vibes and the way the town's residents interacted with one another in that familial, intimate way typically found in a small-town romance. I also read The Cherry Crush Flower Shop a few months ago which I really enjoyed, so it was really nice getting to see glimpses of how Jackson and Zoe's relationship had developed since the events in their own book. However, despite all the right vibes being there, this book just didn't quite do it for me, and I was left wanting more.
I found Krista and Joe to be very likeable characters and liked the glimpses of vulnerability they displayed regarding their childhoods. However, I personally found the instant (and rather intense for only just having met) lust between the pair to be a bit too fast-paced for my liking. Almost immediately, their inner monologues jump to sexual fantasies of one another, and how much they feel that this attraction is going to significantly disrupt the trajectory of their lives. Personally, I'm not too keen on when the love interests are immediately infatuated with each other and much prefer a more realistic and organic romantic buildup. I usually find the insta-lust trope somewhat shallow and fanfiction-esque, especially if we aren't given very much information about each character before they are thrust into each others' acquaintance which I found to be the case in this book. I wish that we had got to know more about Krista and Joe as individuals both before their relationship/hookups and also during their relationship. I did still think their relationship was cute though.
Despite there being several different plot elements — the romance, the workplace swap, and the mystery of Krista's great-grandmother's disappearance — I felt that for the most part, these subplots were lacking. The romance (and plot in general) felt more spice than story, and I found myself really struggling to remain engaged, often skipping over the spicy scenes and inner monologues. I enjoyed the mystery of Great-Grandma Isobel's disappearance but it felt kind of rushed which I thought was a shame as, in my opinion, it was a very interesting premise so would've really liked it if there had been more focus on this part of the story.
Overall, this will no doubt be the perfect book for those looking for a spicy, summertime romance. It was a feel-good story packed with instant attraction, a spark that felt electric, and a cosy community vibe, but the insta-lust simply wasn't for me.
Thank you to NetGalley, Harper Graham, and Bookouture for gifting this eBook in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. All opinions are my own.
Going back to Maple Falls just feels like coming home at this point. After following this series for a while, these books aren’t just stories anymore—they’re a place I get to return to. I know the town, I know the people, and settling into The Hot Honey Hideaway felt like slipping into something familiar and comforting.
This time we follow Krista, who is basically always in motion. She runs a café that turns into a cocktail bar at night, rents out canoes and paddles, helps her grandparents with their campsite, and tries to be there for her grandmother, who’s starting to struggle with dementia. She carries a lot, and you really feel that. She’s strong and capable, but also stretched thin in a very real way.
Then there’s Joe, a travel journalist passing through town to write about a project from characters we met before. The setup is such a fun one: thanks to the mayor’s assistant, they end up doing a “summer swap” and living each other’s lives for a week. Watching Joe try to keep up with Krista’s nonstop schedule (and getting to see Maple Falls through his eyes) is honestly such a joy. And for Krista, it’s the first real moment where her world opens up beyond the town she’s always known.
There’s also a small mystery about Krista’s great-grandmother woven into the story, which I really liked. It adds just enough intrigue without taking away from that cozy, small-town feeling. And the family elements really shine here—her grandparents, her sister moving to town… it all just adds to that sense that Maple Falls is full of life beyond the main romance.
I will say, the romance starts off very insta-love. Like, immediate sparks, immediate intensity, “this changes everything” kind of vibes. If that’s not your thing, the beginning might feel a bit much. It did take me a moment to settle into it. I don’t mind chemistry right away, but I prefer when the story lets those feelings breathe a little before putting big words on them.
But honestly? After a few chapters, I stopped caring about that. I was back in Maple Falls, back with these people, and that feeling just took over. The warmth of the town, the little moments, the connections—it all pulled me in again.
This isn’t a book you pick up for deep, literary complexity. It’s one you pick up because you want to feel something soft and familiar. It’s comfort. It’s warmth. It’s that feeling of belonging somewhere, even if it’s fictional.
And I love that we’re not done yet. Knowing the next book will focus on Krista’s sister and the bookstore makes me so happy, because it means I get to go back again.
A gorgeous hot summer read in a vibrantly imagined small town setting.
Krista runs the Hot Honey Hideaway, a cafe/cocktail bar on the lakeside in Maple Falls - and the work never ends. When Joe, a travel reporter, comes to town and the community's social media manager decides they should do a life swap for a week, Krista agrees before she can let herself say no. But swapping lives is hard when they just want to be together all the time! There's also a mystery to solve through Krista's great grandmother's diaries, a cafe to pull back from the brink, and a big world out there calling to a travel journalist who suddenly feels like he's finally found his home.
Maple Falls is one of my favourite book worlds - it's very similar to the Dream Harbor series by Laurie Gilmore, but it just tops it for me! I really wish more Laurie Gilmore fans would discover this series as I know they'd love it.
While it's not quite insta-love, I'd say it's an insta-attraction romance. I read a lot of enemies to lovers (that's probably my favourite trope) and quite a few friends to lovers, and these are usually slower developing romances that are denied first. This one wasn't exactly slow burn, and I really enjoyed the change of pace! It really switched up the formulaic romances I've read lately, especially in this small town genre.
Each new instalment in the Maple Falls series has me craving something seasonal. It's the perfect way to market a book to people like me! And even though I don't drink coffee, a hot honey latte sounds absolutely divine to me (just cut the caffeine and I might manage!). As did all the flavours of ice cream.
A lakeside location is always going to win me over, and this one with its small town rustic vibes and a campground run by the main character's grandparents - honestly, I don't feel you could get a better setting if you tried! I wanted to dive headfirst into this story and live it with the characters!
I feel like the Maple Falls friendship group has really found its legs now too - we now know most/all of the group and have lived their romances alongside them. I know them almost like my own friends now.
I was worried that, because we've had all four seasons in book form in this series, this would be the last one, but the hints towards the end of the book strongly suggest that is not the case! I'll be looking forward to the stories of the next pairing in Maple Falls!
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publishers for an ARC of this book.
Hot Honey Hideaway is the fourth novel in the Maple Falls series, a collection of interconnected standalones. Set in the summer months, it follows Krista, owner of the Hot Honey Hideaway, who has taken on far too much and is now considering selling her beloved café-cocktail bar to care for her grandparents and help run their campsite.
Joe, our MMC, is a travel journalist and photographer who’s only in town for a week… cue instant infatuation, plenty of banter, a summer life swap, and even a mystery involving Krista’s great-grandmother!
I really enjoyed this sweet romance—it’s the perfect summer read 🌞🌊 The setting was beautiful, with sunshine-filled days by the lake, scenic hiking trails, and stunning sunrises 🌅
I loved Krista and Joe’s relationship. Their connection felt natural and unforced, and despite only just meeting, it genuinely felt like they’d known each other for years. That said, the idea of the summer swap came about a little too quickly for me. Theyd only known each other a matter of hours before deciding to completely switch lives—including their homes and jobs. I think it would have worked even better if their friendship had been given a few more days to develop before introducing that element.
I also wish the mystery surrounding Krista’s great-grandmother had taken on a more central role, as it felt slightly rushed and pushed into the background. Still, I really enjoyed the added layer it brought to the story, especially the diary entries.
I wasn’t overly keen on the way Krista’s parents were handled towards the end. Their sudden arrival and confrontational attitude felt a bit unnecessary, and their quick shift in behaviour—from criticising her life choices to fully supporting her—came across as a little abrupt.
Overall, this was a fun, easy read, and I’m excited to continue with the series. I’m a sucker for a seasonal romance, and this definitely delivered 🐝🍯🌞🧡
Thanks so much Bookouture and Harper Graham for the chance to read and review this book. 🫶🏻

The Hot Honey Hideaway is exactly the kind of small‑town summer romance that feels like stepping into sunshine. From the moment we meet Krista — all caffeine, kindness, and quiet determination — the book wraps you in that cozy Maple Falls charm, where the air smells faintly of coffee beans and wildflowers and everyone knows who baked the best pie that week.
Krista’s café is the beating heart of the town, and the author captures that beautifully: the clatter of mugs, the hum of regulars, the soft chaos of a place built on love rather than perfection. It makes Joe’s arrival all the more intriguing — this wandering, sunset‑chasing photographer who seems to drift in on a warm breeze and immediately unsettle the rhythm Krista has built around herself. Their chemistry is instant but gentle, the kind that simmers rather than sparks, and watching it grow is one of the book’s sweetest pleasures.
There’s a lovely balance here between lighthearted flirtation and the deeper questions both characters are quietly wrestling with. Krista’s fear of losing the café she’s poured her soul into, Joe’s longing for a place to belong even as he insists he’s not meant to stay — it gives the romance a tender, grounded edge. And the café scenes are irresistible: honey‑spiced lattes, stolen glances over the espresso machine, and the kind of soft, slow‑burn intimacy that feels wonderfully earned.
As summer winds on and the stakes rise, the story leans into its emotional warmth without ever losing its playful charm. It’s cozy, a little spicy, and full of that small‑town magic where community, comfort, and connection intertwine.
A feel‑good, sun‑drenched romance with heart, heat, and a heroine you can’t help rooting for — The Hot Honey Hideaway is a perfect escape for readers who love café vibes, soft summer nights, and love stories that bloom when you least expect them. An excellent addition to the series!
With thanks to Harper Graham, the publisher and netgalley for the ARC

As the fourth installment in the Maple Falls series, The Hot Honey Hideaway was an interesting and enjoyable read, even if it didn’t quite reach the same level for me as the previous books. But that doesn't mean it was bad. Quite on the contrary.
One (and only) aspect that didn’t fully work for me was the insta-love element. I tend to prefer a slower build in romantic relationships, so the immediate connection between Krista and Joe felt a bit rushed. However, this is more a matter of personal preference than a flaw in the writing itself.
That said, I genuinely appreciated the dynamic between the two main characters. Krista’s driven, constantly-on-the-go personality contrasted nicely with Joe’s calmer, more present approach to life, and their relationship developed into something warm and engaging. They complemented each other in a way that felt natural despite the initial pacing of their romance.
The novel also continues to deliver on one of the series’ strongest elements: its small-town setting and sense of community. The found family aspect was particularly well done, with the residents of Maple Falls rallying around Krista in a way that felt both heartfelt and authentic. It took so little for me to start crying and I'd say I'm embarased, but I'm honestly not. Because of that found family the book had it's warmth. I think writing heartwarming scenes is hard, but Harper Graham did an exquisite job.
Another highlight was the mystery subplot, which added an extra layer of intrigue to the story and helped maintain momentum throughout. It was a welcome addition that elevated the overall reading experience. I also cried while reading about that, so yeah 🙈
Overall, this was such a cozy, sweet read, and I’m already excited to see who gets the next story (please let it be Krista’s sister 👀📚).
It's so good to be back at Maple Falls! Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this arc.
Krista is a local who owns the Hot Honey Hideaway, a place for coffee and cocktails, but lately she's been too busy handling the place, helping out her grandparents and helping their business. So when she faces to opportunity to fund her grandparents, she takes it. Even if it means swapping lives with a man she just met.
Joe is a traveller journalist/photographer and he accepts doing the swap to have a new story to had to his portfolio. But neither of them was expecting a love story to come out of it.
I love Maple Falls and how Harper Graham has this talent to make you immerse yourself in this small town. The characters we meet thought the previous three books make this book feel even more familiar and cosy. Watching Krista having fun with her friends was so nice. And Joe already felt like part of that circle.
I liked the romance and the relationship Krista and Joe built (tho it was insta lust and that's not my favourite trope). I would like if there was a little more tension, if Krista had stuck to the "no catching feelings" a little longer to make the moment she lets go feel more powerful. It was definitely not my favourite romance and couple from the series, but it was still sweet to read about.
I loved the mystery of Krista's great-grandmother and how she and Joe searched for her special place. It felt a little rushed and I would love to see more of Isabel's story, them searching more instead of finding the place almost immediately. This part felt a little bit rushed and I think if the book had a little more pages, this could be more explored.
Overall, it was a nice small town romance, with forced proximity and a little mystery. I would really recommend the Maple Falls series.
Is it possible to fall more in love with the people of Maple Falls? You’d say no, but you’d be wrong! Another 5-star, 6-star, 10-star book from Harper Graham, and I was lucky enough to get an exclusively early ARC copy of it. I’m giving this 5 stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A huge thank you to NetGalley, the author Harper Graham, and the publisher for this exclusive early ARC. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. The Review I read this book in one sitting, and though here in Argentina it’s autumn, I can honestly say I felt the summer breeze and vibes this book gives. I absolutely loved Krista as the FMC; after all, she’d been quietly around for all three other books. And Joe as the MMC is absolutely the best! Well, still no one beats Liam for me, but Joe is a close second. Their love story felt true, honest, and real in ways I didn't think were possible. I was also happy to see a couple of hints for next books coming too—Robyn’s story is confirmed as the next installment, but I’m pretty sure Anita’s is coming soon too... wink wink! The Good: There’s something magical about a book that takes you to a place you love, with people gasping for breath all together when there’s a love confession, cheering, clapping, and reacting together. You feel right there with them, smiling and feeling utterly content and at home. The way this story makes you feel part of the community is just unmatched. The Not So Good: The only bad thing is that I can't stay away from Maple Falls for too long! I’ll just have to read all the books again and listen to them too while I wait for the next one. The "book hangover" is real when a place feels this much like home
📚 Book Review The Hot Honey Hideaway – Harper Graham If you’re craving a sweet, steamy escape with all the cozy small-town vibes, The Hot Honey Hideaway delivers exactly that—and then some 🍯☕🔥 From the very first chapter, I was completely drawn into Maple Falls. The setting alone feels like a warm hug—think lakeside charm, a bustling café, and that comforting “everyone knows everyone” energy. It’s the kind of place you wish existed so you could grab your own honey-spiced latte and stay awhile. Krista is such a relatable heroine—driven, slightly chaotic, and pouring everything she has into keeping her dream alive. Then there’s Joe… and wow 🔥 the chemistry between these two is instant and absolutely electric. Their dynamic is playful, flirty, and full of tension that had me hooked from start to finish. What I loved most is how this story balances cozy and spicy so well. You get all the soft, feel-good moments—found family, small-town charm, emotional connection—while also getting that delicious slow-burn tension that builds into something seriously satisfying 👀✨ The pacing keeps you invested, the romance feels genuine, and the stakes—both emotional and for the café—add just the right amount of depth. And that ending? Warm, hopeful, and completely heart-melting 💕 If you love: Small-town romance 🏡 Workplace / forced proximity 👀 Found family vibes 💛 A touch of spice with your sweetness 🔥 …then this is absolutely one to add to your TBR. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A cozy, addictive summer romance that will leave you smiling long after the final page.
This is the first book I have read by Harper Graham, and the title caught my attention when searching for an ARC to read (a niche I love is romance with food in the title lol).
The Hot Honey Hideaway, come to find out, is actually part of a larger series. However, reading this book, I did not feel like I was missing key information from previous books in the series, and I genuinely believe this could be a standalone title.
The Hot Honey Hideaway follows the story of Krista and Joe. Krista, the fearless and confident owner of the Hideaway, and Joe, the travelling photographer who rolls into town to work on a project. It almost seems like love at first sight as they see each other over the campfire glow for the first time.
While overall I did enjoy this book, and had a lot of fun learning about the characters, I feel like at times there was far too much going on, leaving things to not develop to their full potential. Krista and Joe decide to swap lives for the week for a social media campaign; mind you, they decide to do this after about an hour of knowing each other. Now, while we think this is going to be the centre of the book, we have family drama, a lost journal that needs to be investigated, a thriving but also failing business, a fundraiser, and an end-of-the-swap party that sort of pops up out of nowhere.
In a perfect Good Reads world, I would rate this book 3.75 out 5, so I`m going to round and give it 4.
Had fun reading it overall, and yes I would reach for another book Harper Graham writes in the future!
I have to start by saying that this was my very first ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) experience, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better introduction! I loved this story so much that I found myself slowing down toward the end, simply because I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to this world. The title immediately drew me in. Just like the family in the book, my own family has a "hideaway" among beehives, so I resonated deeply with Krista. Seeing that world reflected on the pages made the reading experience feel incredibly personal and authentic. 🍯🐝 Harper Graham has mastered the art of the "small-town vibe." The writing is light and breezy, making it an easy read, but the pacing is quick and engaging. What I appreciated most was the balance—the action moves fast, yet the author still takes the time to provide lush, detailed descriptions of the town’s scenery that make you feel like you're standing right there. The characters are bursting with personality. The story is enriched by multiple subplots and a strong sense of community, which gives great depth to the universe this series is building. Two highlights for me were the fascinating backstory of Krista’s great-grandmother and Joe’s unwavering devotion. If I had one tiny critique, it’s that I personally love a very detailed, "extended" epilogue. However, knowing this is a series, I am confident we’ll get more glimpses of our main couple in the next volumes! If you are a fan of small-town romances, strong FMC, and devoted "golden retriever" energy MMC, you need to add this to your TBR immediately!
Favorite Quote: “Love does not only grant us the freedom to run, but also the courage to stay.”
The Hot Honey Hideaway by Harper Graham is the fourth book in the Maple Falls series.
Krista is the owner of the Hot Honey Hideaway café, something she built all by herself and is incredibly proud of. Unfortunately, with her grandparents getting older and her grandma’s illness getting worse, she also has to help with their business, and handling everything at once becomes impossible. So she makes the difficult decision to sell her café.
When her besties find out, they decide to step in and help. One of her friends challenges her to swap lives for a week with hot travel journalist Joe Valerio and document everything on social media to raise money for her grandparents. Krista accepts the challenge. What starts as something fun soon turns into something more. But can a summer fling turn into something lasting?
This is a cozy and spicy small-town romance that you didn’t know you needed. Grab your favorite drink, get comfortable, and enjoy this romantic story. You’ll laugh, have fun, and maybe even tear up a little. The story is well written and told through dual POV, showing that unexpected love can be something magical and that accepting help isn’t a weakness.
The small mystery involving her great-grandma added a beautiful layer to the story and gave deeper meaning to their situation. My favorite part was definitely the cave. It was such a memorable moment.
If you love spicy romance, this is one you should definitely give a try.

And could a summer fling turn into love for a lifetime? 🩷 Review - I loved the other books in the Maple Town series and The Hot Honey Hideaway certainly didn't disappoint. This was such a cute and fluffy read. It's the perfect book to read for when you want something light and fluffy to read over the summer months. The small town place setting was cute and I loved the great mix of characters. I also loved Krista and Joe's slow burn chemistry. Overall a brilliant novel that I highly recommend to other readers. I look forward to reading more by the author. 💝 Thank you to Bookouture, the author Harper Graham and Netgalley for my arc ebook copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This one is small town cozy meets a little bit of heat and i was actually hooked faster than i expected.
you've got Krista running this lakeside café, trying to keep everything together, and then joe walks in with that "im not staying long" energy... which is basically a warning sign but also exactly the kind of tension this book thrives on.
The vibe: 🍯 warm, sweet, slightly chaotic café life 🍯 everyone knows everyone (and your business) 🍯 found family but make it nosey in a best way
The chemistry? yeah it's there. it starts with that lowkey tension too close moments, lingering looks, and then it builds. not super slow burn, not instant either... just enough to keep you flipping pages.
what i liked most is that it doesn't try too hard to be deep, but there's still that underlying question of "do you risk your stable life for something uncertain?" and that gave it a bit more weight than i expected.
Joe as love interest: 🔥 charming but guarded 🔥 very "temporary guy" energy 🔥 you already know his going to complicate everything
If I'm being honest: • its pretty predictable • not super emotionally heavy • some moments wrap up a little too early
But also: ✨ It ridiculously easy to read ✨ cozy + slightly spicy balance it ✨ perfect escapist mood
overall this is the kind of book you pick up when you want something comforting with a little kick to it. Not really life changing, but definitely bingeable.
Thank you to the author and netGalley for the arc.
This is the fourth book the Maple Falls series and also the fourth ARC I received. And I’m soo happy for it!! So thank you NetGalley and Harper for this 🤍
The Hot Honey Hideaway follows the story of Krista and Joe. She runs the famous cafe of Maple Falls and he is the new guy in town. A travel journalist who lives everywhere. So very different from each other 🤭 Joe never felt like he belongs. Always on travel, meeting new people. Krista moves to her grandparents house and never left. She helps them at the campsite while she runs the Hideaway. Never stop working!
But one day, in a true or dare game, they decide to swap life. For the next two weeks, which was the time Joe’s staying at MF, she runs the camera and he the Hideaway. Now imagine all of this WITH a family mystery envolved 👀
Their personalities were the opposite. Krista was always working, never stops and Joe never had the feeling of settle down. Until he meet Krista. I loved how they built the chemistry between them. The sparks were on since the moment they met, which was perfect for the slow burn. They feel for each other at the right time. And I loved that 🤍
And now I cannot wait for Robyn’s story!! Super curious for the book lover vs single dad trope ❤️
The Hot Honey Hideaway is a book full of chemistry, love, friends and some drama! So if you love all of that, this one is for you 🤍
"The Hot Honey Hideaway" was my first book by Harper Graham, the title having grabbed me while I was searching for new ARCs to review, and yet I didn't feel like any part of the book had inside jokes I wasn't in on or history I desperately needed to understand this story. It can truly be a standalone, read without reading the full Maple Falls series.
That being said, I now want to go and read the whole series starting from the beginning. I have a thing for small towns, found families, and the love stories that animate those themes. If you're like me, I can only imagine you will love this book as much as I did. It really captured all the feels of a Midwest summer and made me miss the ones from my youth.
I loved both the FMC Krista and the MMC Joe. I could relate to the pull of wanderlust that Joe felt, as I, too, have been nomadic, writing travel stories from abroad. I felt his conflict as one I too experienced many years ago. Maybe it's that personal connection that made me fall in love with the characters, or maybe Graham is just that good at creating characters you want to love. At times, it seemed like there were too many plot threads, and I didn't know if they were all needed. But in the end, I saw how they all wove together to create a beautiful tapestry that gave a simple summer love story greater depth.
It was the cast of characters around Krista and Joe that ultimately made this a story I won't forget. I loved Krista's grandparents and wish they were mine! Kit's cooking is something I need to sample, and I want to sit on a porch around the fire, sipping hot honey cocktails with the crew of Maple Falls every summer night. It was a treat to get to review this ARC, and I am glad for the chance to leave a review, hoping others discover Harper's work, too.
Book 4 and we’re back in Maple Falls; and honestly, I couldn’t be happier. I say it every time, but I mean it: I want to book a one-way ticket to this town and never come back. This series is pure feel-good comfort.
Krista and Joe? Immediate sparks. That instant connection just worked for me. He’s all easygoing and she is running on caffeine, ambition, and not nearly enough rest. Their dynamic felt natural from the start, and watching it unfold was such a joy.
What really stood out in this one was Krista’s personal journey. That lesson about slowing down? Yeah… I felt that. Deeply relatable, especially when life gets a bit too loud and busy. It added a nice layer of depth to an already warm and inviting story.
I also loved the added touch of the family mystery. I love a romance book, but I love it even more when we get little side quests along the way.
And the spice? This might be my favourite so far. Still sweet, still in keeping with the tone of the series—but definitely a little bolder. Let’s just say… a standout moment involved lace, a camera, and a blindfold. Absolutely divine.
I’m already excited for whatever comes next in Maple Falls. This place feels like a second home now, and I love getting to return to it every time.
Thank you to the Author, Bookouture and NetGalley for an early copy.
Krista and Joe's story is such a feel good read that I'm giving 4.5 ⭐️!
Krista has been running her Hideaway, her grandparents campground, and helping the town in whatever task they need. So when she is feeling overwhelmed by it all and the money she needs for her grandma's care, and Joe walks up to the Hideaway doing a story on the town, their instant connection stops her in her tracks. The summer swap is born, and soon Joe and Krista are trading lessons, spending most of their time together, and questioning everything they knew about their futures.
Krista is a doer, never stopping, and carrying the world on her shoulders. Joe is a nomad, hoping to different assignments, and likes to sit and watch for the perfect picture. These two learn so much from each other, but their growing attraction and love for each other and how they balance each other out is exactly what they need. There is humor, small town vibes, a found family, and even a little mystery. I do wish the story of Krista's great-grandmother was more developed, and as beautiful the message was in the end, I wasn't fully behind how much Krista leaned on it and was just going to give up Joe. That was my only critique and why I didn't give this a full 5 stars.
As always, thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for another fantastic read in this series!
4.25 ⭐️ Krista gives off the eldest daughter vibes, trying so hard to keep everything together and not fall apart. She owns The Hot Honey Hideaway and is debating whether to sell it so she can take care of her grandparents and the campground. She meets Joe, the photographer, and they switch lives.
I understand that the Insta love trope isn’t for everyone, and it wasn’t for me either. But hear me out!!! You’re going to be obsessed with Krista and Joe. It’s not about a summer fling, it’s so much deeper. The relationship developed in a beautiful way that I didn’t even think was possible in such a short period of time. They both bring out the good in each other, have each other’s backs, and it was an emotional journey that made me cry.
There’s that tradition with the bees 🐝 in love… it’s beautiful.
Quotes I loved: “Life’s too short for bad coffee.”
“Truthfully, he knew he wasn't just documenting a story here. It had only just begun, and yet in this town, with Krista, he felt like he was falling into the biggest story of his life.”
"Some men rush things, but not you. You've got a steady calm about you."
“But sometimes it's not about letting people in. Sometimes it's just about letting yourself feel something good for once."
"Love does not only grant us the freedom to run, but also the courage to stay."
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Harper Graham for an opportunity to read this ARC.
It’s time to return to Maple Falls in this spicy, yet cosy and quaint summer romance centering around Krista, the owner of the Hot Honey Hideaway, and Joe, a traveling journalist. After a cheeky dare one summer night causes Krista and Joe to swap lives, jobs, and even sleeping arrangements for five days, the attraction between these two was instant. With strong family values, an amazing group of friends, and a love for this town where everyone knows everyone, Krista has her world turned upside down as Joe begins to sweep her off her feet. This book made me want to indulge in a honey latte and a hot honey margarita alongside these characters in this swoony, small town story.
In addition to the beautiful scenery we get to experience in the nature and wilderness of Maple Falls, this book also offers an intriguing mystery and family lore of Krista’s great-grandmother, Isabel. Getting to experience multiple generations of this family allowed me to connect with Krista and understand her deep emotional attachment to the Hot Honey Hideaway, her grandparents’ campsite, and Maple Falls itself.
If you are looking for a fast paced and endearing summer read with loveable characters, a cute dog, and idyllic town with a little mystery, give this fourth installment in the Maple Falls series a read.
The story centers on Krista, the warm and selfless owner of the Hot Honey Hideaway café. She’s the kind of heroine who pours everything she has into her shop and her family—often at the expense of her own needs. Joe, a traveling photographer whose free‑spirited lifestyle stands in stark contrast to Krista’s rootedness. The novel leans into beloved romance tropes— small-town romance, forced proximity and the allure of a summer fling. The first half of the book relies heavily on anticipation and near‑moments, creating a steady buildup of chemistry as Krista and Joe work side by side in the café.
That said, the emotional connection doesn’t fully click right away. While the side characters are lively and memorable, the early pacing feels more like setup than immersion. The tension is there, but it doesn’t always translate into a deeper pull. It wasn’t until around the halfway point that the story truly found its rhythm—once the characters’ vulnerabilities and desires came into sharper focus, the romance became more engaging and heartfelt.
“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Thank Netgalley for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
First, thank you so much Bookouture and Netgalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review!
Secondly, this book was spectacular! It is right up there with The Cinnamon Spice Inn – dare I say it might be my favorite Maple Falls book yet?🤭 The romance between Krista and Joe felt so natural and yet so palpable. It was also a romance with spicy moments, but was gentle and sweet.
Also, as a dachshund owner, I loved little Frankie!🐾 Graham did a great job and incorporating other Maple Falls characters in the book, yet mainting the focus on Krista and Joe. And similar to her other books, she continued to do an excellent job and setting the scene in a concise yet descriptive manner. I truly could feel the vibrant summer and honey vibes at the Hot Honey Hideaway. ❤️🩷🧡💛🐝🍯
Lastly, all of the themes in this story were robust and relatable. I think that really helps readers connect with the story and truly feel as though they were in Krista or Joe’s shoes.
I really hope Graham continues the Maple Falls series! I can’t wait to read about Robyn’s love story next!🍁📚p.s. Still hoping for a book about Kit’s love story!🤞🏻
This was the kind of cosy romance that just makes you want to settle in and keep reading. It had a warm, feel-good energy running through it, balanced with just enough spice and tension to keep things interesting.
The small-town setting really worked for me — it felt comforting and inviting, like a place I didn’t mind spending time in. It created the perfect backdrop for the romance to unfold naturally.
I especially enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters. Their interactions felt easy and fun, and the romance developed in a way that kept me engaged without feeling forced or overly dramatic.
It was also genuinely addictive in the best way. I kept reaching for it whenever I had a spare moment because I wanted to see where the relationship was heading and how everything would play out for them.
All in all, this is a warm, entertaining small-town romance with strong chemistry and a cosy atmosphere — an easy, enjoyable read that delivers exactly what it promises.
📚I was able to read an advanced copy of title thanks to NetGalley, Harper Graham and Bookouture📚 📚All reviews and opinions are entirely my own📚
First of all, I want to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for sending me this ARC of Maple Falls #4. Knowing that you trust me to bring another review for this wonderful series makes me truly grateful.
Once again, Maple Falls made me feel right at home. There’s such a strong sense of belonging and community that just feels so comforting. This book honestly exceeded my expectations and became my second favourite in the series, right after The Spiced Cocoa Café.
Krista and Joe’s story truly moved me… The way they find home in each other, how Krista learns that she is allowed to want things for herself and doesn’t always have to save everyone, and how Joe comes to understand that love can also mean learning to stay.
This book has the perfect mix of strangers-to-lovers, summer romance, and small-town charm. On top of that, there’s once again a mystery to solve, which kept me hooked throughout the story, and its resolution genuinely brought me to tears.
This series really feels like listening to a Noah Kahan song, so I had to mention a song that reminded me of these two while reading.
I highly recommend this book and the entire Maple Falls series!
The Hot Honey Hideaway was everything I want in a summer small-town romance — sweet, cozy, emotional, and spicy in all the best ways. From the very first chapter, I was completely hooked and ended up devouring this book in no time. Definitely my favorite in the Maple Falls series!
Krista and Joe had amazing chemistry right from the start, but what really stood out to me was how genuine and well-developed their relationship felt. Nothing about their connection felt rushed, and I loved watching them slowly bring out the best in each other. Their banter was fun, their emotional moments felt real, and the romance had the perfect balance of heart and heat.
The cozy café setting, found-family vibes, and little touch of mystery made this such a comforting and addictive read. Everything came together perfectly by the end, and I was smiling the whole way throug
If you love small-town romances with summer vibes, lovable characters, emotional moments, and plenty of spice, you need to add this to your TBR. Perfect for fans of Emily Henry, Abby Jimenez, and Laurie Gilmore.
Thank you to Harper Graham, NetGalley, and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I did not expect to be crying at 6 a.m. over this book.
What surprised me most was how emotionally layered it was beneath the romance and mystery. This story explores generational expectations, responsibility, pressure, identity, and the quiet exhaustion that comes from always putting others first.
The relationships felt human. Not just romantic love, but family, obligation, sacrifice, and learning what it means to choose yourself sometimes without guilt and to let go of the expectations that others have for you.
One line in particular that stayed with me is: “Love does not only grant us the freedom to run, but also the courage to stay.” That quote perfectly captures the heart of this story.
This book is a great end of summer / moving into fall cozy vibe read. I will definitely be rereading this when the seasons start to change.
This wasn’t just a quick romance read for me. It was emotional, healing, and deeply reflective in ways I never expected. I finished it in less than 24 hours because I genuinely could not put it down.
This is my first book by Harper Graham and safe to say that it did not disappoint! I went into this not knowing that it was the fourth book in an interconnected series and will definitely be reading the others soon.
This book felt like a big warm hug. It had everything I was looking for in a small town romance. Forced proximity, yearning, a lakeside cafe, honey lattes & margaritas and a mystery woven into the story too, which was a lovely addition. I adored Krista and Joe and watching their relationship bloom was so rewarding! Their romance didn't feel rushed or forced even if they only had a week... I also loved the bond between Krista and her grandparents and how she was willing to give up her job and dreams to ensure they were happy and comfortable.
Overall, this book is perfect for people who are looking for a cozy, easy and joy-filled reading experience filled with warmth and love!
