Thayer Caruthers was on top of the world—until he lost everything.
After his mother’s death shatters him, the one girl he shouldn’t want becomes the one he can’t forget. His best friend’s sister. The almost-kiss that ruined everything. The line he should’ve never crossed.
Now he’s stepped away from competing, forced to watch his best friend rise to snowboarding superstardom while he drowns in grief and what-ifs.
Giselle McCloud has always played by the rules. Loyal sister. Responsible business owner. Safe girlfriend to her business partner. But the night Thayer almost kissed her? It cracked something open she can’t seal shut.
And when her world comes crashing down, it’s not her brother or her boyfriend who she needs.
It’s Thayer.
The one man she can’t have. The one person who understands her. The one mistake that might be worth making.
J. Nathan is the author of new adult romances with cocky heroes and sassy heroines. When she's not writing, she's a crazy baseball mom who loves iced coffee, country music, and guys in backward hats.
Some books pull you in. This one completely consumed me.
From the very first chapter, Giselle and Thayer had me emotionally attached to their story. The tension, the chemistry, the vulnerability …everything about them felt so authentic and layered.
J. Nathan created a romance that was equal parts emotional, addictive, and impossible to stop thinking about. This book was a fast easy read.
Thayer absolutely stole my heart. Beneath all the confidence and charm was someone deeply devoted, protective, and completely gone for Giselle long before she realized it. And Giselle? She was strong in such a quiet, realistic way. Watching her slowly break down her walls and learn to trust both herself and Thayer made their relationship hit even harder emotionally.
What really stood out to me was how balanced this story felt. It wasn’t just romance , there was angst, healing, family dynamics, tension, and even moments that had my anxiety through the roof. The suspense woven into the story added so much depth and kept me glued to every page.
And the chemistry? Unreal. Every interaction between them felt charged with emotion. Whether they were arguing, teasing, or opening up to each other, you could feel how deeply connected they truly were. I was always rooting for them!
I also loved the side characters and the family dynamics so much. The sibling protectiveness, the loyalty, and the friendships made the story feel even more real and immersive. I already need more from this world immediately.
J. Nathan somehow delivered a story that felt emotional, cinematic, heartfelt, and completely unforgettable all at once. This is easily one of my favorite reads of the year and I will definitely be reading more from this author.
If you love: ✨ brother’s best friend ✨ he falls first ✨ emotional romance ✨ intense chemistry ✨ protective MMC ✨ angst with heart ✨ characters that feel real
…you need this book on your TBR immediately.
A big Thank You to J. Nathan and GreysPromo for the ARC. This is my honest opinion.
J Nathan releasing a book this year is exactly what the world needed! I was beyond excited to see that she had an upcoming release and spent the last 24 hrs in bliss while reading it.
Giselle and Thayer…OBSESSED doesn’t even begin to describe how I’m feeling about these two! J came in walking a thin line between right and wrong with this story but her execution of it all was PERFECTION!
Giselle and Thayer had a lot to go through and learn to get where they needed to be and through it all I love that their friendship, their bond was never lost!
There is no way I would’ve kept my wits about me so I do not blame Giselle because girl; same! Thayer is such a complete package of a hero. He’s charasmatic, loves hard and is so much fun! Giselle is hard working, loves her family and Thayers laid back nature really mellows Giselle out! These two were so much fun to read and J I’m so happy you’re back to writing! Can not wait for another book!
Thayer and Giselle’s story centers around grief, forbidden feelings, and the tension of wanting someone you probably shouldn’t want. There’s definitely emotional intensity throughout the story, and readers who enjoy messy relationships, angst, and complicated choices may really connect with it.
For me personally, several plot elements made it difficult to fully invest in the romance and emotional journey.
That said, J. Nathan’s writing still has an emotional pull and readability that can’t be ignored.
Something About Her is the second book in the Big Air series by J. Nathan. It's a brother's best friend, he falls first romance, and it was amazing! This is my new favorite J. Nathan book!
Giselle and Thayer were so good together! Their chemistry was off the charts, and the overall story was fantastic! Add in the little bit of mystery, and you have the perfect read! This one will definitely go on my re-read list, and I already know it is one of my top reads of 2026! A million stars!
This was a great book about two people who shouldn’t want each other, but do. Thayer and Giselle were really great in this story. It was a little bit of a slow start, but it was definitely worth continuing. The banter between these two was really pushing things, and they knew it. But the overall push and pull had me totally invested. I really loved this story and the depth that it held. I definitely need more.
I learned a new phrase while reading this book, snow rat. Thayer has always wanted his best friends’s older sister, Giselle but she was out of reach. Until her world turned sideways and she wanted Thayer. It’s a good read for people in their 20s and just starting out with hopes and dreams. Thanks Greys Promo for the advance read.
Thayer and Giselle’s complicated brother’s best friend romance was a slow starter for me. It took me a little bit to connect with the characters, but once I did I was 100% invested in their emotionally charged journey. I enjoyed the element of suspense as well as the push/pull dynamic and chemistry.
Something About Her was a fun, spicy, great read, that had so much heated tension and hilarious back and forth between Thayer and Giselle, and emotional, more intimate moments that were blended together well too 🩷 The plot was paced nicely, hooks you right from the first chapter, and the twist thrown in there with Giselle’s boyfriend made things interesting! I really enjoyed the writing style and loved the banter between Thayer and Giselle that had me giggling, as well as their banter with Kason and Shay—which I will definitely be needing to read their story next!! 🤩
Giselle goes through something that shakes up her life, and the struggles she faced both with what she experiences, and with her boyfriend, made her feel very human, and it really showed her vulnerable side 🥺 She has goals and is hardworking, and it was rewarding seeing her with Thayer, relaxing and falling back into who she really is. Her and Kason also had a great relationship, and he wanted to do anything to help her too! I appreciated how Thayer gently nudged her towards facing her fears, but never rushed her, and was always there for her 🩷 She was so silly and bratty when it came to her jealousy, which she very much failed at hiding! But once Thayer showed up for her in a really sweet, intimate way, helping her through something difficult, their relationship started to change 🥹 Their chemistry was clear, and I’m sooo glad she pushed that envelope into dangerous territory that one night, because phew, it sure set off fiery sparks!! 🥵 It felt very special on how she was able to be there for him about his mother, there for him at competitions, and also her heartbreakingly and heartwarmingly showing up, in a way, for his mother too (iykyk 😭)
Thayer is ✨ perfect ✨ He’s funny, so very caring, protective, and has that soft, sensitive, emotional side that I absolutely adored 🥺 What he goes through is unimaginably painful, and I wanted to give him the biggest hug… After not seeing each other for months after his almost-kiss with Giselle, things are tense in that deliciously heated way, but they also have little moments that are more personal and emotional, as well as funny, and sometimes petty, back and forth banter 😂 Him being Kason’s best friend, and Giselle being Kason’s sister, adds a really complicated layer to their relationship, and I liked the way things played out between everyone and thought it was written in a well paced and realistic way! He doesn’t think twice when it comes to being there for Giselle, and it was the sweetest thing when he went to comfort her that first night, and she just relaxed right into him 🩷 I really loved how strong, real, and intimate their connection felt, and how they both are supportive and there for each other in just the right ways the other needs. It was also wonderful seeing Thayer find his joy for snowboarding and competing again, and it was everything that Giselle was right there by his side 🥺
This was a fantastic read that I finished in one sitting and really enjoyed, and I thought the plot was very well written 🩷 The spice and tension were red hot, the emotional and intimate bits were tear jerking and felt so meaningful, and it also had some twists, mystery, and suspense. Kason and Shay added a nice dynamic, and with Kason labeling Giselle as “off limits”, it definitely made things interesting, and created a few sneaky, almost caught moments 🤭 I loved every step of Giselle and Thayer’s story and seeing them get together through all the bumps 🩷
I always take notes while reading a book, then I’ll add my review afterwards. I received an arc copy of this book and it’s the first one I’ll be reading by this author.
1. Only two chapters in and I’m loving the tension between Thayer and Giselle!
2. I like how easy it is to envision the writing as if it’s a movie. The writing flows easily.
3. I love how easily I can envision the scenery. It almost makes me miss winter…*almost*!
4. 😱🫣 Super scary!! (page 53) but I already have a suspect in mind!!
5. I know this feeling all too well! Sometimes a lady just needs her baby brother around. His hug can help mute the word. “…suddenly feeling as though I needed my brother around.” (pg. 63)
6. I know absolutely nothing about snowboarding, skiing, or anything like that. But can play out the runs, jumps, and flips in my mind. The author details everything wonderfully!
7. Oh my goodness! This is so true. We want to protect our babies, but they have to grow on their own. “Being a parent is tough. We can see things, but it’s not our life.” (pg. 158)
8. I adore the bromance between Thayer and Kason!
9. Oh my heart! I started crying when Giselle was talking to Thayer’s Mama about how awesome he was at Steam Boat. It definitely had me in my emotions! “”And I hope my hug gave him the same support and love that yours always did.”” (pg. 243)
10. Whyyyy is it over?! 😭
🖤🫶🏻🖤🫶🏻🖤🫶🏻🖤🫶🏻🖤
Oh my goodness! I absolutely love these characters! They feel so real to me as if I’m reading a book about my friends.
Thayer is an awesome main character! I fell in love with his charisma, swag, and how much he loves Giselle!
Giselle is a sweetheart and the new trauma moment (I don’t want to leave spoilers) had me scared for her. No lie, my heart was racing and I wanted to reach into the book to save her.
Kason is a typical overprotective little brother who loves his big sister. I related with this since I’m a big sister with a little brother (7 yrs younger) who is just like Kason. I can’t wait to read Kason and Shay’s book!
The chemistry between Thayer and Giselle is awesome! I was so excited for them to get together. I knew he was in love with her from the beginning.
The story flows perfectly, the details are incredible, and it left me wanting more. I was able to play the entire book in my mind with easy. I was able to see the background areas, the characters, and even down to their personalities and emotions on their faces.
I have definitely found a new author that I will read anything they write! The only problem I had with this book was that it was over!! It’s 263 pages but I could read 1,000 pages and still want more lol.
If you love a great romance with some struggles, brother’s best friend, sexual tension type of book…this is one to read! I definitely recommend reading it!!
This is the second story in the new adult series ‘Big air’. In the first story, ‘Something about you’ we saw Kason fell in love and now we see his older sister Giselle McCloud and his best friend Thayer Caruthers fall for each other.
Giselle, 23 years old, owns a boutique in Colorado, she’s ambitious and a hard worker. She has a boyfriend, Gino, who lives in Florida. The distance means they don’t see each other much. Thayer is the best friend of Giselle’s younger brother Kason’s. He’s a student and a snowboarder (or he was until his mother’s death). Due to the loss of his mother, Thayer also lost his love for snowboarding. She was his biggest fan. His relationship with his father isn’t good.
Giselle and Thayer were also good friends until one year ago, when an almost kiss caused tension between them. Now they try to avoid each other as much as possible.
Giselle has everything, until one night changes her life forever. The experience leaves her scared and full of doubts about her future. To her surprise, she finds support in Thayer, he makes her feel protected and safe. Slowly, their friendship blossoms again and with Giselle’s support, Thayer starts snowboarding again. He falls in love again with both Giselle and snowboarding. But there are a few obstacles, one of them is Gino and the other one is Kason. When Giselle breaks up with Gino, that’s one less obstacle but convincing Kason of their love is more difficult. One thing is certain, however, Thayer will fight for his girl.
I loved this story! Thayer and Giselle were great characters. Giselle was very mature for her age. From a young age she knew what she wanted, owning her own boutique, until a terrifying evening in her boutique made her scared and uncertain about her future. I loved how Thayer and Giselle supported each other. He was really there for her when she needed someone. Thayer was a great friend to both Kason and Giselle. It was wonderful to see how Giselle, in turn, supported him in his attempt to chase his dream of snowboarding again. She knew how much it meant to him and why he had stopped. Their relationship had a difficult start, but once they decided to be together, they really meant it. I liked that. The story was told from both POV’s and there were steamy sex scenes in it.
It was nice to see a few familiar faces again, like Kason and Shay. I was happy to see that their relationship was going well. They were still in love. I was a bit sad that Kason didn’t react very well to the new relationship between Giselle and Thayer. I found him a bit tough, but luckily, they did got his support in the end.
This was a great story. I even thought that this story was even better than the first one (but please don’t tell Kason). I'm so happy that the author gave us another story.
If you’re a romance lover, look no further and pick up this book immediately! From the very first pages, you’ll be completely invested in these characters and their story. Thayer and Giselle will have you swooning, smiling, and rooting for them throughout. The tension, chemistry, and banter are so addicting! You’ll find yourself flying through the pages asking the classic question: will they or won’t they?
When it comes to Thayer and Giselle their relationship is messy in the best way. For starters, Thayer is Giselle’s brother Kason’s best friend and for this reason the stakes are high and the fallout could change everything. Then you add in Giselle’s boyfriend (who becomes an obstacle all on his own), and the drama is even better. I also can’t highlight enough how much of an ultimate green flag Thayer is. He’s sweet, supportive, and always shows up for the people he loves. Watching Giselle grow into her most authentic and care free self around him was one of my favorite parts of the book. Their relationship is complex in the best way. By the time this story takes place, Giselle and Thayer have already known each other for eleven years, so they’ve been present in each other’s lives for a long time. That history creates a deeply rooted sense of comfort, familiarity, and genuine care for one another. What makes their dynamic even more compelling is the unspoken layer beneath it all. To almost everyone around them (except Kason and at times Giselle herself), it’s clear that Thayer has loved and admired Giselle from afar for years. Giselle, on the other hand, has always cared for Thayer too, but initially in a platonic sense as her brother’s best friend and someone important to her life, rather than a romantic possibility. The slow shift to something more is what makes their connection feel so layered and emotionally engaging.
This was by far the easiest 5 star read, it was all that I needed and love in a book. This story truly has it all, laugh out loud moments, tear jerking scenes, and tension filled conflicts that will have you anxious to see how everything works out. I couldn’t put it down, and I honestly can’t recommend it enough. If you’re in a reading slump, this is the perfect feel good romance to pull you right out of it!
“She’d consumed my thoughts since she first acknowledged my existence when I was ten.”
Once I started Something About Her, I couldn’t put it down. Thayer and Giselle pulled me in from the very first page, and their story became one of those addictive reads that you just sink into. I’m such a sucker for a he falls first arc with a touch of angst and a thread of suspense, and this book delivered all of that in the best way.
“I love the way you’re looking at me right now. It’s like for the first time you actually see me looking at you.”
Both Giselle and Thayer broke my heart for different reasons. The things they’d each endured — and the ways those experiences shaped them — were painful, raw, and sometimes hard to read. But that’s also what made their connection feel so right. They understood each other’s wounds. Thayer needed to grow up, and Giselle needed to step out of the shell she’d built around herself. Their journeys weren’t easy, but they were necessary for them to ever be together.
“With Thayer, I feel like me.”
When these two were on the page together, they clashed in the best, most combustible way. The chemistry was instant and intense — you could feel it leaping off the pages — but once they finally started communicating, everything shifted. You could see how deeply they understood one another, how naturally they became each other’s safe place. That emotional grounding made their romance hit even harder.
“Our hearts had both been shattered in different ways this year, but we were meant to help each other put the pieces back into place.”
I loved Something About Her, and I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to these characters. It’s angsty, heartfelt, a little suspenseful, and full of the kind of emotional depth that keeps you thinking about the story long after you’ve finished.
Absolutely adored Thayer and Giselle’s story! It was so heartwarming and sweet, with some excitement both good and not so good, and a little spice mixed in. Such a well written and entertaining story that flowed like a river, so naturally I couldn’t put it down.
This book has a couple of my fave tropes: brother’s best friend, and I think of this as a bit of a second chance as well considering the beginning and the incident the day of his mom’s funeral.
Thayer and Giselle’s brother Kason have been best friends for years. They have snowboarded together forever and competitively for a few of them. I am a huge fan of watching snowboarding, so when the author describes and names some of the tricks Thayer and Giselle’s brother Kason were doing, I could picture them vividly.
Of course this basically makes Giselle off limits to Thayer, but he has had a crush on her since he met her when he was 10. She is a couple of years older and never really thought of him that way and she has had a boyfriend for the last few years who helped her get her own business started.
But when something bad happens to her, it was Thayer’s reaction and how he wants and needs to be there for her, that shows how he truly feels about her and she takes notice. She finds that she needs that. She needs him and she wants him which is complicated for so many reasons. They don’t know how to tell Kason. I love Thayer and I love him for her and vice versa. He’s just so sweet, kind, protective, and adorable.
Loved every moment of Thayer and Giselle’s journey from beginning to end, well not exactly every one as you’ll see what I mean when you get to them.
The epilogue was absolute perfection and so them. I couldn’t have asked for a better ending!
I really enjoyed this book. I’m such a sucker for the brother’s best friend trope, and the forbidden aspect made the tension even better. Add in the fact that Giselle already had a boyfriend, and the yearning between them was so good.
Beyond the romance, I really loved the storyline too. Thayer, our MMC, was once a talented snowboarder who stepped away from the sport after his mom passed away. Now he’s finally getting back into competing alongside his best friend — who also happens to be Giselle’s brother. Meanwhile, Giselle owns a boutique in town and is struggling with the aftermath of a robbery that left her shaken and fearful. Watching Thayer support her through everything was one of my favorite parts of the story.
Their chemistry was incredible. They’ve known each other for years, and Thayer has been in love with her since he was a teenager. The history, the tension, and all the little moments between them gave me butterflies so many times.

“Careful G, if you keep doing that, I can’t be held responsible for my actions.”
“How would you like to see me?” “All mine.”
“This girl has undoubtedly ruined me for all others.”
Something About Her completely pulled me in from the very beginning and honestly never let go.
This book had the perfect balance of emotional vulnerability, tension, chemistry, healing, and angst in a way that made it impossible to stop reading.
Thayer and Giselle absolutely consumed me.
The chemistry between them was immediate, but what made their relationship stand out was how emotionally layered it felt underneath all the tension.
Thayer may come across confident and charming on the surface, but underneath all of that he’s deeply devoted, protective, and so completely in love with Giselle that it honestly hurt my feelings at times 😭
And Giselle was such a strong FMC in a quieter, more emotional way. Watching her slowly break down her walls, trust herself, and allow herself to fully lean into what she wanted emotionally was one of my favorite parts of the story.
This wasn’t just a romance either.
The family dynamics, grief, healing, emotional tension, and moments of suspense added so much depth to the story and made the relationship feel even more impactful.
The brother’s best friend trope ALWAYS gets me, but paired with the emotional vulnerability in this book??? Yeah… I was fully invested.
If you enjoy: 🖤 Brother’s best friend ✨ He falls first 🤍 Emotional romance 🔥 Intense chemistry 💔 Angst & healing 🌙 Protective MMC ⚡ Emotional tension
then I definitely recommend this one.

Thank you to Grey’s Promo and J. Nathan for the ARC opportunity. All opinions are my own.
i love a romance with a yearning man. the way thayer has been yearning and longing for giselle for LITERAL YEARS is crazy. he’s never wanted someone like he’s wanted her.
after being distant for about a year the two are thrown together every single chance. there was so much back and forth, the constant battle of will she, won’t she?
giselle is and does try to ignore her feelings for thayer but miss girl was getting jealous of the girls thayer was showing even a little bit of interest in. seeing her emotions battle each other in her pov is a ride, you see her heart and her brain in a constant battle.
thayer, well he’s down bad and was always down bad. we see the way he cares and how he thinks of giselle. how maybe he’s even tired of a one sided love….
the more time they spend together, the more time she realizes how happy she is around him and their friends. how she sees he’s a good guy. how he’s someone that makes her heart race. someone who makes her feel safe and seen.
thayer slowly worms his way into her heart and wow.
these two will pull at your heartstrings but also give you all the fuzzies because their love is so beautiful.
OMG this was such a great story! It's no secret that J. Nathan is one of my absolute faves. I haven't read one of hers that I didn't love. Thayer and Giselle's story started out at such a low that your heart breaks for them both. The book's prologue takes place before Something About You, but the actual timeline of the book takes place shortly after Something About You. This book was provided to me as an ARC by J. Nathan and the team at Grey's Promotions. Something About Her officially comes out on May 14, 2026!! Giselle and Thayer are perfect together and I love how well they can depend on each other, even at the worst of times. While he's been in love with her for as long as he can remember, it takes her some time to adjust her own lens when she's looking at Thayer. I thought it was so sweet that the parents all knew what was going on. I knew I was almost done the book when I was reading yesterday and even stopped reading early just so I could save the rest for when I woke up this morning. As always, the book finishes and I yearn for more!!
Something About Her completely pulled me in emotionally. Thayer and Giselle’s story had so much tension, chemistry, heartbreak, and healing wrapped into it that I genuinely didn’t want to stop reading.
Thayer absolutely stole my heart. Beneath all the grief and pain was someone so protective, loyal, and completely gone for Giselle. And Giselle felt so real to me. I loved watching her slowly let her walls down and finally allow herself to feel something she’d been trying so hard to avoid.
The emotional connection between them was EVERYTHING. Every scene felt charged, whether they were arguing, teasing, or just trying not to cross the line they both knew they shouldn’t. Add in the family dynamics, the angst, and the healing throughout the story, and I was hooked from beginning to end.
If you love brother’s best friend romance, emotional tension, protective MMCs, and characters that actually feel real, definitely add this one to your TBR.
Thank you J. Nathan and GreysPromo for the ARC opportunity!
I love a book where he not only falls first, but also tries his hardest to hide it. And that is describes Thayer to a T. He has been in love with his best friend’s sister since he was old enough to know what love even was. For years he keeps it buried, trying not to ruin the relationships around him, until the night of his mom’s funeral when he finally gives in and tries to kiss her…only for her to turn her cheek. After that, they spend almost a year pretending the feelings between them don’t exist. But when Giselle experiences something traumatic, it’s Thayer who shows up for her every single time. One night changes everything, and Giselle starts realizing that maybe the older man she thought she wanted isn’t what she needs at all and maybe what she’s been looking for has been standing right in front of her the entire time. The tension between these two was SO good. The longing, the history, the way Thayer cares for her without expecting anything in return. This book had me hooked from beginning to end. Tropes: He falls first Snowboarder romance He’s younger Best friend’s sister
I won’t lie. I was SO angry at both Giselle and Thayer several times. The deliberate baiting, the biting remarks, the callousness. But I also understood it. And let’s be honest, it helped to prove just how deep Thayer’s feelings run when it comes to Giselle. The fact that he’s unafraid to step in when she needs someone, tries to do the right thing, and still stays when it cuts him? He absolutely deserves to remind Karen that his hits missed every chance he gets!
These two send on a wild ride and when all of the secrets come out, neither one backs down. They prove that they’re all in for however long they have and that love can push you to look in the least likely places to get the aid you need. I think Jesse and Giselle will have a great future ahead, as well, and I really hope that we get to see how this new endeavor plays out!
Side note here. I don’t even hate Masie. I can’t. She’s sort of awesome in her own right and I honestly hope to see her again also.
I loved Thayer and Giselle! They both seemed very mature for their ages. Giselle seemed too young to own her own business … she was barely out of college. Thayer was still in college, but he had such a level head compared to his peers. Even though Giselle and her boyfriend Gino were together for three years … it seemed to me that it wasn’t that serious as they still lived in different states. The storyline was great and the banter between the characters was very realistic … especially between Thayer, Kason and Jesse. A great addition to the series.
Even though Thayer is two years younger than Giselle and she’s his best friend’s sister, he has had a massive crush on her for as long as he can remember. But Giselle doesn’t see him that way …. Oh yeah, and she has a longtime boyfriend. When Thayer’s mom dies, Giselle is consoling him and he tries to kiss her … and that changes everything.
This was a sweet romance that was light on the spice. Giselle and Thayer were easy to root for from the beginning. There was just something about both of them that pulled me in and made me want to keep reading.
At first, they brought out the worst in each other, but after one big night everything started to shift. The “will they, won’t they” tension kept me hooked, and I was constantly wondering who she was actually going to choose.
I also liked how mature the characters felt. Even though they were in college, they didn’t act immature and both seemed really accomplished, which made the story feel a little different from a typical college romance.
I read this one pretty fast because the storyline flowed so easily. Every time I put it down, I kept thinking about it and wanted to pick it right back up. Overall, just a really enjoyable romance with characters that were easy to root for.
This was my first read by J. Nathan and it was a page turner right from the start. I received this as an ARC and now that I’ve read it, I’ll definitely be going back to read book one.
Thayer and Giselle have been avoiding each other for a year now. Thayer tried to kiss Giselle and got the cheek instead. They’ve always had their banter and have always been around each other since Thayer is Giselle’s brother’s best friend. That almost kiss changed everything. Now it’s been a year, things are different, and the chemistry is still there. I was rooting for Thayer the whole time.
This was such a good brother’s best friend romance. There were a few intense moments mixed in that kept me flying through the pages.
I highly recommend this book. Once you start, you won’t want to stop I read the whole thing in a day. If you love tension, chemistry, and a romance that keeps the pages turning, I definitely recommend picking this one up.
4.25 STARS I am so happy this author is back with this book after a couple of years without a new release. I love the early 20 year old characters she writes, the fun times they have are entertaining and I love that I get to relive those years vicariously through them. They are figuring their lives out, maturing and finding love. It’s such a fun time in the characters lives to read about.
This book is the best friend’s sister trope, and the best friend is Kason from 𝚂𝙾𝙼𝙴𝚃𝙷𝙸𝙽𝙶 𝙰𝙱𝙾𝚄𝚃 𝚈𝙾𝚄 (𝙱𝙸𝙶 𝙰𝙸𝚁 𝚋𝚘𝚘𝚔 𝚘𝚗𝚎). I love that book and Kason, I was so excited that he was in this story a lot. I love interconnected stories like this, it makes me enjoy the story even more, I feel more connected to the characters. So, Kason’s older sister, Giselle has always hung out with her brother and his friends including his best friend Thayer. Thayer has had feelings for Giselle since childhood, but she just sees him as a bit younger and not matured guy who is living the single, party life as a top snowboarder. She isn’t much older, but she owns her own clothing boutique, has an older boyfriend who she is doing the long distance relationship with. She feels older and more mature.
There is a bit of suspense and mystery in the story. Circumstances lead to Giselle needing comfort and safety. Thayer is there to offer it. He’s had some big things happen in his life. He’s not the immature, party guy he used to be. I love the forbidden romance aspect. I also love that they have known each other as friends for a long time. They have an ease with each other, they care and know each other already. The snowboard scene adds a fun, interesting atmosphere. It’s a really enjoyable story with plenty of steamy moments and swoon worthy romance. Things do fall apart before they can be figured out. There’s character growth, mysteries unveiled and family drama that takes place. It’s a really fun story with likable characters. I’m so glad to have another sports romance from this wonderful author.
This was the second snowboarding romance Ive read this year and Im so glad I did! Giselle and Thayer were perfect. Chemistry off the charts and all of the forbidden feelings combined with him being her brother’s best friend, all in one place!
Other than being the combination of some of my favorite tropes, this book balanced grief, suspense, mental health, and more so well. These characters go through a lot in this book. Due to this, pacing was never an issue. I was always excited for the next thing to happen. Giselle is independent and working hard at her career. Thayer is recovering from his mother’s death and trying to get back into snowboarding after a break. What begins as a confession and failed hookup on Thayer’s part comes to a boiling point a year later when the two confront each other.
Thank you to J. Nathan and Grey’s Promotions for the ARC!! I look forward to reading more of J. Nathan’s books in the future.
This story follows Thayer and Kason, two Colorado boys who grew up chasing snow, trophies, and Olympic dreams — until grief knocks Thayer off his axis. His comeback is the emotional spine of the book, and watching him slowly find his footing again, both on the board and in life, is genuinely moving.
The romance between Thayer and Giselle has that familiar push‑pull: history, tension, guilt, and the kind of chemistry that sneaks up on them both. I liked their quieter moments — the caretaking, the comfort, the way they circle back to each other even when it’s messy. Giselle’s struggle between loyalty and longing feels real, even if she hesitates a bit longer than I wanted.
The book shines most when it leans into the brotherhood between Thayer and Kason and the thrill of competition. Their dynamic has heart, humor, and that deep, lived‑in bond that makes their eventual conflict sting.
Where it wobbled for me was pacing. The story moves in bursts — emotional highs followed by stretches that felt a little flat or juvenile. I was entertained, but not fully swept away. Still, the themes of resilience, found family, and second chances land well, and the ending ties everything together with warmth.
Finally, my opinion is that this was a comfortable, enjoyable read — just not one that kept me riveted.
Thayer Caruthers has stepped away from snowboarding after the death of his mom because she was his biggest supporter. Now he’s on the sidelines supporting his best friend Kason McCloud as Kason gets the glory that they used to share on the slopes while he tries to forget his kiss with Kason’s sister Giselle.
I loved the relationship between Thayer and Giselle because Thayer had to show her that he had had always loved her and do anything for her when things get dangerous after her boutique was robbed.
You need to read Something About You about Kason and Shay if you want to know more about their romance.
P.S. I loved the nod to her Savage Beasts series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author and Grey's Promotions. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the second book in this impressive series, and this is Thayer and Giselle’s story. Thayer had it all, till his mom’s death, which had him stepping away from snowboarding, and now he is on the sidelines supporting his best friend, whose sister Giselle he has had a crush on for a long time. Giselle is a good girl that has always followed the rules, until her world crashes down, and she turns to Thayer as he has always made her feel safe and protected. This is a beautifully written, easy to read story, with family, friendships, loss, grief, pining, opposites attract, friends / lovers, reverse age gap, healing, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, tragic, and unpredictable, sports romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
This is the story of a girl who has a man who gives her everything she's wanted and everything she thinks she needs. And then there is the other man who's always been there, watching, noticing, protecting, appreciating, supporting, offering friendship and safety. From the safe distance of her brother's best friend status. When Thayer tries to show his feelings the timing is all wrong and it creates a crack in their friendship. When Giselle finally realizes her current relationship is more business than feelings, and maybe it's time to make a change, trauma and chaos try to make the change so much harder. Of course there is also one very angry brother to deal with too. Thayer may be one of my new favorite leading men, although young I really enjoyed his laid back mannerisms and how he adored G. I have voluntarily left this review.
I can’t remember the last time I got through a book so fast. This was my first J Nathan book and it will not be my last! I was so caught up in the drama & suspense that I couldn’t put it down. I will say Thayer and Giselle were perfect for one another. I was routing for them the entire time. Thayer is such a soft soul & will truly stop at nothing to make G happy. Poor G goes through alot through out the story and you can’t help be feel for her. But man these two together were perfection. I loved everything about this book & can’t wait for more!
If you love childhood friends to lovers, winter sports romances, suspense and mystery then you will love this!!
Thank you J Nathan for allowing me to read & review this arc🫶🏼
