In a word: YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK!!! Okay, so that's five words and three exclamation points. So sue me! But seriously, you've got to read this book. This is one of the most inspiring, motivating, and captivating book I've ever read. Definitely on my list of top 5 non-fiction, business-related books of all time.

The book has all you need to follow along with plenty of room to write in your own dreams, thoughts, and motivators (you're going to need all that room, too, 'cause you'll have plenty to say). This helps you get involved and gives you a sort of "hard copy" to go by when you finish the book and need to go back and get re-motivated if you come upon a rut in your progress.

Great transitional tools, personal experience stories, and all you need to quit your J.O.B. and move into the dream you always wanted. I'm doing it right now! I have a set of goals and a notebook solely dedicated to recording my thoughts, ideas, goals, and progress in my quest for liberation from the job market! Read this book! You won't regret it. Worth every penny (I only paid about $8 on Amazon for a good quality used copy).

If you like books like these, check out "The 4-Hour Workweek" by Timothy Ferriss. To the point and chock-full of great websites, ideas, and techniques for going the way of the "New Rich" (NR).

I rolled my eyes at the first two chapters and had a lot of fun filling in the blank spaces. However, in between all of the overused quotes from Zig Ziglar and Ralph Waldo Emerson quotes, there are a few good concepts and comments:

"Getting fired is nature's way to (of?) telling you that you had the wrong job in the first place." - Hal Lancaster.

Preach it, Hal.

"We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is, discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons." - Jim Rohn

Probably the reason why Jim flew to the heights of motivational speaking success: farming life turned into useful aphorisms.

"Your purpose is the womb that travailed all your gifts, talents, abilities, and skills." - Delatorro McNeal, unplugged. I really want to stand on a stage and pronounce this in heavy, meaningful tones, and see if anyone comes up afterward and boldly asks, 'what in heck does this mean?' The Tarzan Transition Theory is good, but you'll really have to read the bit in chapter 9 about our bodies being earth suits. It's worth it.

Have you ever felt like you are at a point in your life and you just want more out of it? You may or may not be content with your current career choice, but there's something inside that just keeps nagging at your spirit. Caught Between a Dream and a Job - How to Leave the 9-5 Behind and Step into the Life You've Always Wanted by Delatorro McNeal II may be the inspiration needed to motivate you to get serious right now.

Are you thinking or have you thought about owning your own business, but haven't done it yet? Are you afraid of failing? Don't know where to start and dread having to read one more self-help book? Well, before you throw in the towel, read this book. It might just be what you need to motivate you.

Some of the examples are:
•Identifying your destiny and purpose, and the need for a transition.
•Hiring yourself and landing your real dream job.
•Tips for stepping powerfully into your dreams.

The premise of this book is no different from any other, but it is the infectious energy leaping from each page that sets it apart from others, making it a worthy reading option. Do the work, look within and have the courage to ask yourself the hard question - "How badly do I want this?" Then put all of those good ideas into action?

Change is never easy but the rewards of your leap of faith can be as vast as you want it to be. What's your game plan? Your plan of action? Your exit strategy (from your current job)? All these question and more are addressed and/or answered. Mr. McNeal invites you to be an active participant in your future.

THOUGHTS for your SOUL:
•"Nothing in life is guaranteed, but one thing is; if you don't try you will fail, it's about taking risks."
•"When the social archeologists of tomorrow look back on the days of yesteryear and find your footprint, what story will it tell? What social imprint will you make? What will your legacy be?" - Jason Drenner
•"The self-employed are the wealthy folks of America. The average net worth of a family where the head of a household works for someone else is $65,000. When it comes to the self-employed, the average net worth is $352,3000." - Dr. Steve Sjuggerud
•"There will be 10 million new millionaires in the United States alone created between 2006-2016. Prime candidates are those people who are in direct selling, technology, in home-based business, product distribution, or wellness field." - Paul Zane Pilzer, Economist, Trend Forecaster and best-selling author of The Next Millionaires.

Caught Between a Dream and a Job is jam-packed with suggestions. You just have to have the courage to step out on faith. Delatorro McNeal shares his personal testimony, of how he systematically worked to make that transition. The advice is practical, timely and pertinent, as well as structured to walk you through the process.

Each of the best practices are explained in detail, with an inspirational quote to keep you focused. He invites and encourages you to be an active participant in your future. To do that you have to be open, take notes, highlight poignant passages, WRITE your answers down and reflect. By the end of the book, he convinces you that your dreams are possible...if you choose to pursue them.

If you are seriously considering leaving Corporate America, McNeal II's book is a great start to explore where you stand in your current job vs. where you want to go. McNeal II's book goes deep. He shows you how to get to the point of living with a purpose and with happiness. Caught Between a Dream and a Job tries to help you bridge your current situation with your business dream. The book allows for much soul-searching. McNeal II has a religious touch, though he is non-intrusive. The book is very practical, has nice "to-do" summaries, and many self-tests. It connects well with the reader and avoids the loftiness of many other self-help books. I love the part in which McNeal II makes you think about the ten items that should be on your tombstone, thereby forcing you to think about purpose in your life. If you are still employed or are about to be let go, this book makes for a great read to help you start the right course. In my recently published career book on job loss, I highly recommend Caught Between a Dream and a Job for anybody facing the strategic decision of whether or not to leave Corporate America.

I loved this book. Once again Destiny & purpose oriented.
Its edge above conventional inspirational/ motivation books is its interactive nature. There are questions that are in the book as one reads it and they really open up one's judgement and focus especially in this ever confusing issue of quitting ones job and pursuing dreams.
Its a great read and definitely looking forward to read it again this year.

I appreciate the message of this book. I did find it to be a little repetitive, which was my reason for not finishing it. I got over half-way done then just lost interest.
