Destructive Ties #4

Vow of Destruction

I’m handed to him in silk and silence.
A bride traded for power.
A vow made for men who plan wars.

Sandro Chiaroscuro doesn’t smile at the altar.
He doesn’t touch me either.
Just signs the contract and walks away—
like I’m already his.

They call him the family’s mad dog.
The one they unleash when mercy is a mistake.

At night, he comes home bleeding.
By morning, he’s gone again.
I learn to clean blood from my hands without asking how it got there.

Somewhere between his restraint and my obedience,
His eyes start lingering.
His control starts slipping.

And my body starts keeping secrets.

I count days.
Hide nausea behind smiles.
Pray the truth doesn’t surface before it’s strong enough to survive him.

Then the war finds us.

Steel bars.
Darkness.
Screams he swallows without breaking.

Until they grab me.

Until terror rips something fragile and forbidden from my mouth—
something that was never part of the deal.

The look on Sandro’s face changes everything.

The chains don’t hold him after that.
The room doesn’t survive him either.

And as blood hits the floor, one truth settles deep in my

I wasn’t married for love.
Or alliances.
Or heirs.

I was married to a man who will burn the world down
for what’s already growing inside me.

DNF
I’m gonna be honest, I know this is series however this is the first book I came across and I decided to read it because the story seemed intriguing
I have decided to DNF at 75%, because honestly it was becoming ridiculous and I had already skipped and skimmed most of it
No, don’t get me wrong, the MMCs had a lot of potential as a couple. I love the characters I loved the MMC I liked his personality. I liked that how he was gentle with her and I liked Evie she was sweet. She was amazing. Honestly these two there’s nothing I have to say about them. However the problem is import the writing and the story, so it’s what I’m gonna say about the writing is too many spicy scenes know that me that might be to some peoples tastes it wasn’t mine. It was a bit fast paced but honestly though it’s not a bother bother me is how stupid the story is now because I have a read all the series, I’m gonna give the benefit of the doubt maybe there’s something I’ve missed first of all if there’s one thing I hate is read the mafia book about a week mafia like yeah know that I mean I haven’t arranged marriages were they needed the others help but just you know they need it or not that week. These people might as well not exist so as I said, I don’t know what happened in the previous books, but first of all what are the brothers abandoned their other brothers just because they got married, especially when it comes to revenge or something that just happened like it was not about something that happened 20/30 years ago it just happened second are you seriously telling me that you have enemies you are trying to rebuild yourself? You organise a little ceremony to celebrate again in your house and you do security your enemy just walked in you, for some reason don’t have any power he shoots your brother and he goes back to work came from seriously what type of mafia is this? What type of book is this? I’m sorry about that. I lost all respect I had for them I know it’s a book but I’m also plot twist of something kidnapping all that I always understand how it happened, but this is just yeah honestly, I have actually no words
And let’s not forget the father they were supposed to get kidnapped. Yeah I was at 75. Nothing has happened yet and if you know what when there is this type of major drama planning to happen are you should you like it to happen to 50% of the book , so it can be done correctly it would be acceptable at 75%. If this was a 600 pages book, it was a 301

His vow is political until she becomes the only thing that matters.

Evi is raised to be useful, obedient, and silent, so when she’s handed to Sandro in a desperate mafia alliance, she expects duty, not tenderness. He’s feared for a reason: brutal, volatile, and more at home with violence than vows. Beneath his distance is a man held together by guilt and obsession, and beneath her softness is a woman stronger than anyone gives her credit for. As their arranged marriage heats up, desire drags secrets into the light.

What starts as duty turns dangerous when trust grows in all the wrong places. Evi finds herself caring for the man everyone fears, and Sandro, who’s never meant to belong to anyone, starts coming undone over the wife he can’t stop wanting. Their connection is built on restraint, power, shame, and need, and once that distance cracks, it becomes impossible to pretend this is only an alliance.

Evi begins as a dutiful, shame-marked young woman taught to measure her worth through obedience, but loving Sandro slowly pulls her toward honesty, self-worth, and the courage to want more than survival. Sandro starts as a violent, self-loathing man who sees himself as unfit for tenderness or attachment, and his bond with Evi makes him more exposed, more devoted, and less able to hide behind control. Their relationship shifts from a cold political arrangement into a trust-heavy bond where fear, care, desire, and vulnerability keep colliding until possession gives way to real intimacy.

A dark, ultra-steamy mafia romance where an arranged marriage built on duty turns fiercely intimate, protective, and hard to escape. It’s about two people shaped by shame, violence, and control learning to trust each other anyway, and finding self-worth, tenderness, and love in the one place that should’ve destroyed them.

The Elevator Pitch: A sheltered mafia bride is traded into a marriage built on power, only to find herself bound to a man feared more as a weapon than a husband. As violence closes in and desire turns into trust, the life forced on them begins to feel dangerously like devotion. What starts as an alliance becomes a reckoning between softness and brutality, where love is the one thing neither of them can control.

Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥 Ultra-Steamy / Erotic Romance

Evi Lombardi is a mafia princess born and groom to be wife whenever her father see fit. Her father arranged a marriage between the Chiaroscuro's and the Lombardi for alliance, it was beneficial to both families to strengthen their organization. She was given to Sandro Chiaroscuro the son who is called by his family mad dog. The one they unleash when mercy fails. She was handed to him in silk and silence. A bride traded for power. A Vow signed in blood. He's cold lethal, ruthless, cold-hearted, and monstrous. He didn't smile at her at the alter, nor did he touched her. He just signed the contract and walked away as if she was already his. Neither Sandro nor Evi wanted this marriage but they didn't of a say in the matter. Sandro distance himself from his new bride as long. He comes home each night smelling like violence with blood on his knuckles and she cleans his wounds with kindness and strength without asking whose blood it was.
He can't help but be drawn to her and somewhere between his restraint and her obedience he loose control and they eventually succumb to their desires. And each day she hides her nausea behind smiles praying that the truth survives. Sandro was stoic cold, and distance, which cause their new lives together to be a little rocky. Because of his past trauma and pain Sandro doesn't know how to interact normally he spends his night in an underground fight club fighting. As these two gets close the war finds them, then he gets kidnapped and thrown into a cell and being beaten and torture. Sandro can tolerate anything that they throw at him, and is silent under torture. But when Evi gets thrown into the cells next to him he will do whatever it takes to free himself and save his wife and unborn child. A gut-wrenching and heartbreaking story that explore and explain past trauma and overcoming hardships and loss. A slow burn story filled with acceptance, healing, hurt and pain, and suffering. I will stop right here for now.

Vow of Destruction is the fourth book in the Destructive Ties series. A gripping and emotional story about the chaotic arranged marriage between Sandro Chiaroscuro and Evi. The story skillfully explores the complex world of dark romance with an intense and emotionally charged storyline of two people who, against all odds, formed an unbreakable bond. With age-gap romance, forbidden, secret child, and complex characters, this story is definitely a stand out.

The complex dynamics of Sandro and Evi's relationship evolve from a transactional partnership into a deep, visceral connection formed through conflict and growing love. Evi is a quiet person, a pawn used for the strategic advantage of two powerful families. Her marriage to Sandro, a silent and deadly enforcer, begins with coldness and distance. Sandro is a man of quiet intensity and deep-rooted trauma. He signs the contract without a smile or touch, establishing a professional separation that makes Evi seem more like property than a partner. This early dynamic creates simmering tension and emotional emptiness for Evi, who is pushed into a world of violence and unspoken rules. The author provides insights into Sandro’s troubled past and inner thoughts, allowing him to evolve from a flat enforcer into a multi-dimensional character whose restraint hints at hidden emotional depth. Evi’s journey showcases remarkable resilience and quiet defiance. Despite Sandro’s initial emotional distance, Evi’s struggle with fear and self-doubt is evident. Their relationship is formed in necessity, danger, and a fierce, unexpected love. Sandro's gradual transformation from a silent, detached husband to a fiercely protective partner, alongside Evi's evolution from a pawn to a woman who inspires deep devotion, creates a compelling character arc for both.

Sandro was shaped into a weapon by his father. He carries a lot of aggression and therefore gets into many fights. He also has quite a bit of trauma, which he doesn’t really acknowledge himself, as he doesn’t think very highly of himself. I didn’t like that his past was mentioned so often. It would have been enough to just mention once that he never had anything serious, but there were simply too many details I didn’t need, like the fact that he went to a club for the first time at fifteen. Evi comes across as very likeable and down to earth, but at the same time also innocent and inexperienced. She was raised to become a wife, and it was ingrained in her that this defines her worth. However, she suffers from PCOS, which means her chances of having children may be lower, and her family forces her to keep this a secret. I always think it’s good when conditions get awareness, but it has to be done correctly. PCOS can be managed well by changing diet, trying supplements, and overall it is not a verdict. Of course, it varies from person to person and it’s a “can” and not a “must,” but it often sounded like it was a fact that she was infertile, and that bothered me. Anyway, Sandro initially shows little interest in Evi because he doesn’t know how to deal with it and thinks she is too good for him, although he has been attracted to her from the beginning. They have a wedding night and also sleep in the same bed, but there is not much communication at first. Still, Evi is there for him and takes care of his injuries after fights. Then they grow closer until something happens and he pulls away and distances himself. Evi finds out something, and the two of them end up being held captive due to circumstances. The situation was cruel, but I really enjoyed reading the closeness they shared and the conversations between them. When he then finds out that she is pregnant, everything changes. The ending was quite exciting.

An arranged mafia marriage, a feared “mad dog” anti-hero, and a secret pregnancy combined with a mafia family seeking revenge had me expecting to be hooked and love it. Overall, this wasn’t a bad read, but despite having a lot of elements I usually enjoy, it didn’t fully deliver and left me wanting more.

Sandro is described as dangerous and unpredictable, the kind of man his family unleashes when things get brutal. We do see that side of him in the underground fights, where his ability to be violent is clear. However, that same level of intensity doesn’t fully carry over into the mafia side of the story. Because of that, he never quite felt like the dominant, intimidating force I was expecting within that world. He has a few moments where I liked him, especially toward the end, but overall he felt like an unfulfilled version of what the story was trying to present.

Evie’s background and fears made sense, especially with how she was raised to see her worth tied to marriage and children. But as a character, she felt a bit flat at times, as much of her internal conflict circles around proving her worth and just waiting for Sandro.

Their relationship had potential, but despite the story spanning months, they only share a few moments of real chemistry. It wasn’t enough to create that strong pull that makes you believe in them as a couple, and I found myself waiting for something to happen to make them click.

I actually liked this one, I just didn’t love it as much as I thought I would. Sandro is very much the quiet, broody, shows-up-covered-in-blood type. He barely talks, keeps his distance, and acts like the marriage means nothing… until it slowly doesn’t. I liked that he wasn’t instantly soft. When he does start to crack, it actually means something.

Evi is more on the quiet side too. She kind of just learns how to exist in his world and deal with everything thrown at her. I liked her, I just wish I felt more from her? Like I wanted to be a little more in her head.

The relationship is very slow and kinda distant for a good chunk of the book. Which is fine, but I kept waiting for that moment where it really clicked and it took a while to get there.

The ending is where it finally hit for me though. Things get more intense, more emotional, and Sandro actually shows what he’s capable of when he stops holding back. That part? Loved.

Overall it’s a good read. Just felt like it was missing a little something to make me fully obsessed.

Evi is betrothed to Sandro Chiaroscuros, the "mad dog" of his family, to unite the families and create a bigger force. But Evi's family has made her keep a secret from Sandro. Sandro loves to fight in an underground fight club every night. Even his own wedding won't stop him. Evi finds herself falling for Sandro and tending to his wounds when he gets home. But a war is brewing from a force that was thought to be no longer. Sandro and Evi find themselves caught in the middle. Will they be able to escape the horror?
I received an arc from Booksprout for my voluntary honest review for NN Book Blog. If you enjoy dark mafia romance with secrets and a brewing war, you will love this book. This book may not be for everyone therefore, please read the author's trigger warnings before reading or purchasing this book. Although this is Book Four in the Destructive Ties series, it can be read as a stand-alone. Though why would you, when you can read the other Chiaroscuros brothers' stories?

Vow Of Destruction is book 4 in the Destructive Ties series and is Sandro and Evi's journey. It's a steamy, intense, dramatic, arranged marriage. It's also very emotional. Creating an alliance between the Chiaroscuro and Lombardi families together is the only thing that matters to Evi's father and a necessity for Sandro's family. This marriage is supposed to be a big win for both families but when there's war, things happen that are a little unexpected and that's what happens with this couple.
Their journey is so heartbreaking in so many ways. Sandro's childhood was so sad and I wanted badly to make his father pay. Evi was so accepting of him, flaws and all. It was impressive the way she carried herself to be so young. Vow Of Destruction is a fantastic story and I absolutely recommend it!

Vow of Destruction is book four of the Destructive Ties Series.

Sandro has a quiet determination about him. He did take a bit to warm up to as he is very stoic and doesn't communicate the best. However, seeing into his thoughts helped to make him a more enjoyable character. Evi is treated poorly for something out of her control and seeing her fear and her pain constantly was very saddening. She needed reassurance and Sandra being as quiet as he was didn't do a very good job of it. But together they forge something great together and when she has moments of doubt and sadness, he is there to pick her up and make her feel better about herself. I enjoyed delving into this couple.

Vow of Destruction is the fourth story in the Destructive Ties series. It is a suspenseful and emotional story.

Evi and Sandro have an arranged marriage to unite their families. She is being used to strengthen her family. He is cold toward her. He didn't want to get married. As the story develops we see Sandro's past and then he becomes more human to us. When danger comes Sandro wants to keep her safe.

I loved the chemistry between Sandro and Evi. I loved how his character evolved into wanting to protect his wife. Their story is a great addition to the series and I look forward to the next one.

This was a dark mafia story about Sandro and Evie. Both were polar opposites. Evie having an arranged marriage. There was a lot of danger and chaos throughout this one. Sandro was slow coming around and warming up to Evie, but eventually they got to a good place. When all hell broke loose, Sandro was there to protect her and their unborn child. I thought this was a it good story. Intense and I loved seeing them come together.

Lisa brought us back to the Chiaroscuro family with the Arranged marriage of Sandro to the young daughter of a lower family but one that could give them the numbers to finally go after the Yakuza and take back their family home.

Mafia/ arranged marriage/ virgin FMC/ forced proximity/ grumpy/sunshine/ pregnancy/ no OW/OM drama/ touch her and die/ my wife/ HEA

Trigger warning: violence/ mentions of infertility/ PCOS/ death of a loved one/ neglectful parenting/ murder/ kidnapping/ gun use/ threats of SA

I didn’t know this was a part of a series. It’s supposed to be an interconnected standalone but I felt a bit lost as far as the relationship dynamics between all of the characters.

Good Palette Cleanser

I enjoyed this quick read. The pacing was good, the characters interesting, and the story line was predictable but entertaining and engaging. The characters have good chemistry and the inclusion of the side characters was relevant and helpful to the story. This was a good, easy read.

The ending fell so flat for me. You mean to tell me that he couldn’t have done killed the guy before he found she was pregnant? Plus he was a dick to her for no reason and she just accept his half ass and we’re suppose to be ok with that. Nah. That sucks. The ending actually made me not want to read the next one at all.

These get worse as they go, this has to be the weakest mafia security Ive ever seen. They’re constantly caught off guard, ransacked or letting their wives be kidnapped.

Loved Sandro and Evie as a couple, great characters. Just know this is mafia light with lots of inconsistency.
