She was a gift, a gift he didn't necessarily want but it was keep her or kill her. Cherry had had a difficult enough life that she knows she either complies or is dead, she wants to live. Elijah initially brings Cherry home and asks her to be a friend to his daughter, but the more he leans about Cherry the bigger drive to protect her.
This was very good, Elijah made it clear Cherry was not there for sex. I liked that it took awhile for the two get together, you see Cherry grow as a person and find a comfortable life with Elijah. Very good read.

Loved Elijah's character and his ultimatum was blunt to Cherry: Come with him or die! Which would you choose? She chose to live and care for his daughter... not knowing they would fall in love with each other over time.

This is the third book in the Dark Duet series. I loved the first book and absolutely hated the second one. This was somewhere in the middle. It was really short. I didn't believe the H's feelings for the h. He threatened to kill her many times when they first meet. Then he sees her cleavage and suddenly is in lust. This is after he tells her several times that he has numerous women to sleep with and is not interested in a sexual relationship. His quick about face left me confused. The H has a teenage daughter who is just 5 years younger than the h. I had a huge problem with that. The h was almost his daughter's age. When she becomes 30 he would be 50. That is nasty. The daughter wasn't a real character just someone who goes in and out of scenes with no real purpose. The h was a pathetic character who has been abused by men for most of her young life. She just accepted it and didn't do much when the H took her. My biggest issue with this book and this author is that she frequently makes weight a problem with her heroines. She fat shames them constantly and I believe this says more about the author than anything. That is so sad.

Sam Crescent at her absolute best.
I loved this book, once I started I just couldn't put it down.
As we know from the previous books Elijah is a dangerous man, he's widowed with a fifteen year old daughter Mindy and while sorting out a deal Elijah is gifted Cherry if he doesn't take her he knows she'll be killed but will suffer beforehand so he's left with no real choice.
Since the death of his wife Elijah has raised Mindy single handed plus security of course and he's done a fabulous job but there's no substitute for a female presence and that's what Cherry provides and Mindy latches onto her. The relationship between the girls comes about naturally and we know it's only a matter of time before Elijah and Cherry find their way to each other.
Another thing I liked was Cherry, she'd been through so much and maybe as a result of that she was so level headed, no unnecessary drama, tantrums or escape attempts she was a really good character and I also liked that Elijah loved his wife, it's so easy in books like these to paint the previous relationship in a bad light and I appreciated that this wasn't the case here, he just slowly moved on.
For me this was the best of this series while I really enjoyed 'Fear the Boss' and 'The Scarred One' I loved this.

Yep I finally read and I loved it! Sam Crescent never fails me ! It took me soo much to read it only because I needed to finish some projects, but now that I have som free time I'm trying to make amends with all of my unfinished books!

Loved it!!! Could not put down once I started reading. Elijah is a deadly bada** alpha male but you see a softer, kinder side when dealing with his daughter and Cherry. Elijah loved his wife and never found anyone that would measure up to her memory until Cherry. She is sweet, understanding and has been given a raw deal in life making her a survivor. Brought together by unusual circumstances, attraction flares and chemistry builds as they get to know one another. Lovable characters and steamy passion. Would recommend.

This was intresting.. it wasn't one of my fave books.. it was just meh.. also.. in book 2 he said his baby mama was a bitch? Then this book he all shes the love of my life.. thats why i fl whores... sooo??? i also had a problem with Elijah always (at first) keep saying ill kill you to Cherry and always tossed "I have woman for that" when she asked if he was going to rape her.. (he didnt) but it changed when he saw her curves and how she was with his 15 year old daughter.. there is some deep dark drama in Cherry's past.. and Elijah wants to fix it.. and he does with some.. no one hurts his girl.. their relationship becomes more until someone tries to take his crown.. and his girls..

It took me a couple chapters to settle in to this book. I had a lot of trouble connecting with her and I didn't like him in the beginning. His daughter and the way they both interacted with her is what started to win me over and by the end I adored him.

This is the third book in the Deadly Duet series by Sam Crescent. Elijah is a very dangerous man who has killed a lot of people and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. He's rich and powerful and absolutely adores his 15 year old daughter named Mindy. His first love died after giving birth to their daughter and he's never opened his heart to another woman since then. When he goes to meet an associate of his he's surprised to see a beautiful young woman tied to a chair. His associate, Marcel informs him that the woman witnessed something she shouldn't have and that she's a gift for him. If he doesn't take her she will be killed because she has seen too much. Cherry is 20 years old, she's studying to be a nurse something she's wanted to be since she was a little girl. When she was 5 years old her Mom overdosed and she was fascinated watching the doctors and nurses who worked on her. Her Mom died and for 2 days Cherry wandered around the hospital by herself until she was finally discovered and placed in foster care. Elijah tells Cherry she can either come home with him and help out with Mindy with no expectations of sex or she can stay there and die. For some reason Cherry trusts Elijah and feels safe with him so she chooses to leave with him. Cherry and Mindy immediately hit it off and become close to one another and Elijah is having a hard time keeping his hands to himself.

With no other option Elijah takes Cherry home. Elijah has a 15 year old daughter Mindy whom he has brought up by himself since his wife died giving birth to her. Mindy immediately takes to Cherry. There's a spark of attraction between Elijah and Cherry but she's only 20 to his 39.
I loved this story everything about it was well done from the plot to the characters. I especially liked Elijah he's a bad man with a touch of vulnerability about him, there's plenty of hot and heavy scenes as well. I even liked the cover. A recommended read

This is book 3 in the series, you can read them as stand alone or in order, I recommend in order. Elijah is HOT!!! You get a glimpse of his character in books 1 & 2, I am so glad she gave him his own story. Cherry is in the wrong place at the wrong time luckily for her she is given to Elijah. I could not put this story down. It is hot, edgy and keeps you wanting more. Even a bad guy deserved a happy ending. Happy Hot Reading.

Elijah wasn't the guy that I had previously thought he was. He was kinder, but hid it. Elijah was very protective of his daughter and Cherry after he met her. Cherry didn't have a good life growing up, but she overlooked that to make her life better. These two realize that they are attracted to each other and can't keep fighting it. These two are good for each other and I really enjoyed seeing Elijah become a better person for his family.

I LOVED Elijah! Alpha male to the T... but he also had a sweet side that his daughter brought out. Love the characters and seeing what's happened to Caleb & Henry's families as well. I hope there is more to this series!
