The good: - Cool - Easy to remember - Lots of great points - Very well-sructured - Nice formatting & layout - A good reference sourse for whenever one might be looking for some cooler ideas (and having just a couple of minutes to get it done)
The bad: - A case of deja-lu: a lot of this I've already read elsewhere.
I enjoyed this book. I did not have any expectations yet my takeaway is that I'm still thinking about all of the helpful content that requires minimal effort to taking the first step to change and the courage needed to take that step.
I just couldn't get enough of this book and it is one that I wish everybody would take the time to read and be inspired and uplifted by. From the very first page I had that excited feeling I get when I find a book that connects with my way of thinking and that continued throughout each chapter.
I really enjoyed the quotes at the beginning of each chapter, as they helped me focus when I read them at the start of my day or just before I went to sleep. Nothing like a dose of inspirational thinking to help one sleep well or begin the day in a positive frame of mind! The writing itself is easily digestible, fun and uplifting without being over the top. Every single chapter is full of great ideas for life improvements that we can each do. I found the exercises very helpful and it is a book I will refer to over and again in the coming years. I also particularly liked that the chapters can be read in any order and referred to at any time as standalone articles. This is a must read for anyone looking to find out more about appreciating life and overcoming their own fears and hurdles to have a better quality of life. It is a both a self-help book and interesting read for all.
I'm shocked at all the good reviews this book has received. I had to force myself through the first three chapters.
The writing AND punctuation are atrocious. On top of this, the style is jumbled and the content seems completely unedited. It felt as if I were having an impromptu conversation with someone who had just finished reading a couple self-help books, and they were in a rush to catch the bus while balancing a ball on the end of their nose.
In addition: The self-reflection questions at the end of each chapter are not appropriately linked with the subject of the chapter, and the questions themselves do not make any sequential sense.
Please save yourself some time/turmoil and skip this book. If you're looking for ways to improve your habits, I heartily recommend both "The Power of Habit" (an excellently insightful book into the machinations behind habits and how to use them to your benefit) and "The Willpower Instinct" (a straightforward guide on how to employ various positive-habit-creating methods).
From time to time I like to read books of the novel and stories away to help us escape from reality, 30 days is one of these books that invite us to do just the opposite. I began to read it because I needed a time to think a little about my life, to weigh my values and wonder if I follow the right path to achieve my goals. 30 days has proved to be an excellent book that has guided me through a process of introspection and personal growing. It's a simple book, with a fluid and entertaining writing that makes you move through different exercises designed to test ourselves and overcome the bad habits that keep us from fulfilling our dreams. One of my favorite sentences of the book is "Live your life fully. Do it NOW".
This is a book to dip into frequently. It's not the usual style of a 'Self Help' book. It is packed with 94 very short chapters, each about the sort of things most of us do/or don't do - but could improve our lives if we did/didn't do them. If, now and again, you practised just one chapter you would make your life easier. Examples are: "Be Happy Now", "Stop Trying and Start Doing", "Start To Get Organised", "Pamper Yourself"', "Smile More" and "Stop Being So Hard On Yourself".
You are not overwhelmed with a whole bookful that you need to do! Pick what suits you - and try it.
I wish I had read a book like this 40 yrs. ago....but I guess one is never to old to change habits! One review said chapters are too short and not in depth...I see that as a positive. The author is not redundant, but uses quotes to highlight each chapter topic, discusses the topic precisely and gives the reader a task to complete. After reading the entire book, I think it would be a good plan to return to those habits one would like to focus on and take time to implement one habit change at a time. It is a book I will return to reread.
I enjoyed this book. The chapters are shorts and easy to read. Yo will find goods ideas in all of them. I couldnt stop to read. I agree, all is in our head, in our mind, we can be happy If we want.
I read this book mostly as a resource for my life coaching practice. The author gives 93 things you can do to make your life better in quick 2-3 page segments. Some of them are obvious - exercise, but some are very good reminders of what we can do to feel less stressed out.
If you haven't taken a look at a book like this before, it's a good one to check out. There are probably quite a few things that you can take into your life to feel like you can do more. I know that even though I've read a lot of books on this topic, there are a few I will use.
I enjoyed the book, and plan to read through it again. I gave it 3 stars instead of 4, because it needs some serious editing. It was kind of distracting and made it seem less professional. The topics covered were great, but there were so many that the author only touched the surface of each one. I really would have liked to have had more depth in fewer topics. But overall it covered some really good material and made me think about my current habits.
I thought this book was filled with practical, straightforward methods to initiate change by taking small , yet consistent steps each day. I found it helpful, a source and workbook I will refer back to often.
If you ever felt like you stopped living and are just existing, or your life is stuck in a rut? This book should help. Although a quick read, the exercises at the back of every one of the 94 chapters will keep you busy for a long time. Hopefully the rest of your life.
This book was recommended to me by a friend, which made it important enough to check out regardless of my reservations towards self-help books. Whether it was because the world is so filled with negativity these days or because my life is at a point when I am re-thinking some of my choices, I don't know, but it has made more impact on me than expected. Good impact. So, once again, life proves that we never know untill we try.
The book is easy to read, offers well-chosen introductory quotes by people worth listening to, and offers truly positive advice. As it progressed, it grew on me and I found myself really answering its questions in my mind, trying out some advice and finding out they do work. It is pro-active all the time, and you might enjoy the special touch - the questions with answer lines left vividly for you to fill, and excellent questions they are. True, it is repetitive at times but those among us, who are reluctant to dare and change, need repetition. The numbers in the title may seem like hokum, but there IS a valid point to them.
I truly admire the author's highly positive tone, not promising instant miracles but gradual, explaining that the change is up to us, offering no excuses and demanding no ridiculous procedures, but truly small steps and persistence. My favourite part is the one about uncluttering and tolerations - it really makes sense to me in my life, and it really does work.
I recommend this book to everyone who needs change, a different angle on problem solving, and, above all, less stress in their lives. We really could all use a bit more positivity nowadays.
Everything you read in this book may be wrong, but on the other hand!
Oh No.. Not another self help book! WELL..if you don't read this profound and Truly Helpful book, You will never Know! Yeah, I don't believe anyone who says "TRUST ME" To me that's a sure sign not to! But Trust Me, this is a BOOK worth reading ! Can you believe this is his First? I received this ebook by the graciousness of the Author and that of Amazon in exchange for an HONEST review! And I know using all caps is like SHOUTING, but for the hard of hearing/reading, I felt the need to shout! Bless all you good readers who take my word for it, THIS a Book You will regret not reading! Inspirational doesn't begin to describe it!
I've been on a mission to improve my habits and motivations lately (thus, the oodles of self-help books in my queue this year). This one is great. It's got actionable advice, a memorable voice, and a Goldilocks length. My only (minor) complaint is the author's liberal usage of exclamation points -- I swear, some sections had one after every single sentence -- which I found incredibly off-putting and distracting.
I've read many books on self improvement, and I think this is one of the better ones. The format is fun, easy to read, and filled with lots of exercises that promote self reflection and personal growth. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the Kindle edition had some editing errors. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable and profitable read.
I felt like this book was a compilation of many great ideas boiled down to simple action items. It is very straight forward and has excellent tasks and suggestions to help you form good habits. It is worth your time to read it.
I began this book as a way of making my life better from the depression that was taking over. Just reading through it once has already turned my life around. I plan to read through it again and pay closer attention to the exercises.
Great positive ideas for a happier life! I am going to do some of the things now, read the book again and add more. Easy to read with very doable changes to make for a better life. Great confidence builder!
I did not understand why so many people say they will read this book again until I read the book. The introduction even suggests that you read it through and then read it again. And I will. Many helpful thoughts and action sentences throughout the book. Well worth reading.
I liked this book. For one thing it was free on my Kindle. I liked the way each chapter has questions or a "to do" suggestion after each chapter. It is a book that has good ideas on changing habits.
