Lockridge University doesn’t create monsters. It protects them.
Rowyn came to Lockridge on scholarship for a new beginning. Keep her head down. Earn her degree. Leave without a mark.
She fails at the first part.
The moment the captains notice her, everything changes.
Grayson Mercer rules the campus with a smile and a crowd behind him. Kade Langley watches from the shadows, silent and merciless. Elliot Jacobs never raises his voice, because he never has to.
Football. Hockey. Baseball.
Three kings without crowns. Three reasons no one says no.
They watch. They test. They name her.
Lockridge calls it discipline. The handbook calls it procedure.
Rowyn learns the truth quickly. There are no witnesses here.
No consequences. No escape.
This is not a love story. This is a system designed to break her.
And Rowyn has one choice.
Shatter quietly or learn how to survive the boys who were made to rule.
Made to break: Boys of Lockridge is a dark why choose bully romance and is intended for readers 18 years and older. This is book 1 of 3 in the series and will end on a cliffhanger.
OMG, wth in the actual fuck is happening here. I have got to have book two like now. This book was epic. Ashlynn never lets me down. This was from the unhinged part of her imagination, and I LOVED it! She always seems to mindfuck me in one way or another, lmao! If you love dark college bully romances, you have got to read this book; you will not be disappointed.
WTF!!!! Yet again Ashlynn left you with an ending that will have your mouth hanging open and you wanting to toss your kindle. From the start this story pulls you in and really keeps you guessing. There are so many times I had to go back and reread a chapter bc was like wait what?!?! I need the next book like now. If you love your guys unhinged and mean and a book with twists and turns and secrets and again an ending that will leave you wanting more then this is the book for you.
Made To Break is not a light hearted read! It's dark and in some places downright disturbing. So you know I loved it! It grabbed my attention right away, which is extra awesome this time around because ya girls been in a reading slump. I've been dnfing books left and right, but the Boys of Lockridge sunk their claws in deep and took me on a wild, mean, damn near triggering (as a 'Chunkers' myself) at times, ride.
Kade, Elliot and Grayson are not redeemable. They're not romance and love hidden behind a diamond in the rough exterior. They are not good boys and most of what they do and say to Rowyn is unforgivable. But Gods be damned if anyone else antagonizes her! Don't expect to love them and find some HEA here. Number one, because there's a freaking cliffhanger that left me screaming for book 2, like, yesterday! And number 2, because that's just not how they're written. They're selfish, spoiled, misogynistic little boys pretending to be grown men. You might, at times feel bad for them. And you might even start to like them (my money's on you seeing what I mean when it comes to Elliot), but I promise you won't love or be rooting for any of them. They take bully 'romance' to a whole new level. And still, I loved this book.
Now Rowyn? Our virgin, insecure and inexperienced FMC? She, you will like. She, you will root for. She, you will hope has a HEA. Does she? Well, again, CLIFFHANGER! Still mad, but I digress... Rowyn, you will sympathize with. She's a bigger girl who's very self conscious, with no self esteem to speak of and a tragic past that's left her all alone in the world. But, her inner narrative is, at times, unreliable. And boy do I love an unreliable narrator! So, if you're like me and enjoy a book that leaves you with more questions than answers and also has...
• Emotional Manipulation • Heavy Bullying • Gaslighting • A Multi POV Why Choose Situationship • Seriously Morally Gray MMC's • A Dark, Sports College Setting • Power Imbalance • Body Shaming & Cruel *Pet* Names • Psychological Abuse • Intense Humiliation • Family Secrets & Hidden Pasts • Blackouts & Sleep Walking
... plus SO much more, then you obviously need to add this to your TBR and snag a copy a.s.a.p! Because the only real complaint I have about MTB is that at times it felt more like a highschool setting, rather than an elite college. But that TINY, little, personal complaint is it! And is definitely not enough reason for me to not hype TF outta this book and suggest it to every Dark Academia, Bully Romance and Erotic Horror fan I stumble across. That all said, as always, I really need you to thoroughly go over the trigger warning and content lists for this book. As I stated above, this one is a dark read. It gets pitch black in places and your mental health and well-being are so much more important than any book!
Which brings me to the almost end of this review, and my personal favorite part to write, the ratings! I'll be rating Made To Break for the spice, the psychological thriller aspect and the amount of blood, on top of my overall rating. This book was psychologically damaging to me and I wasn't even the desired target of the bullying and fat shaming, and for that I'll be giving MTB 5 outta 5 🧠's. Because yikes, I cried with Rowyn! For me, this was more of a psychological thriller than an erotic horror, but there was still a little bit of blood and horror, so it's gonna be 2 outta 5 🩸's. As for spice, there wasn't a whole lot, but what there was, was well written and I enjoyed it, so I'll be giving it 3 outta 5 🌶️'s. And last but most important, I've given Made To Break 4 outta 5 overall ⭐'s. Despite the dark and painful (emotionally) parts of this book, I really enjoyed it and I am VERY impatiently awaiting book 2. That cliffhanger still has me up in a damn tizzy! I really hope that, if you do give MTB a read, you'll really enjoy it. And if you did, please stop back by this review and drop a comment down 👇🏻 below 👇🏻. I'd love to know what you think of it!
🖤 𝓻𝓮𝓿𝓲𝓮𝔀🖤 Welcome to Lockridge University… where the hot guys in letterman jackets are the bullies you don’t want choosing you. Ashlynn straight up wrote about three walking red flags with a mystery surrounding them. I was rooting for Hannah during all their episodes, hoping she would be strong enough to fight back against them… but what really had me staring at my iPad with my jaw on the floor was the ending. That cliffhanger! Like how could you possibly just end it like that! A great-paced, thrilling and suspenseful spicy story that will have you in a love/hate relationship with the main characters.
*spoilers* Rowyn didn’t believe she herself would be accepted to Lockridge University, until the day she received the email with her acceptance letter. The good news she would have celebrated with her parents if they were still around. As she endures the first day on campus, she has a run-in with Grayson, who nicknames her Chunkers, which she despises. But at least she made friends with her roommate, who turns out to be a grade A friend.
During her time on campus, her roommate explains that she should stay away from Kade, Grayson, and Elliot because of the type of men they are. That when initiation comes, they’ll have to pick a chosen one for themselves. And it’s not the fun initiation either. So she tries to keep her distance. The only problem is that they won’t do the same for her.
In fact, they make her life a living hell on campus. From humiliating her in class, to passing around explicit videos on her, to literally cutting her hair… or so she thinks. Because after a bonfire party where she was forced to stay outside in the freezing cold, someone was there. Someone who pushed her into a river where she nearly died. The problem? The guys know it wasn’t them. And they know they didn’t cut her hair. So, who was the masked person entering her room? And why were they targeting her?
The past does come back to bite you in the ass. This is a book that had me wanting to jump into the story to jump in her defense. I was livid at how much pain she was being put through. It was more than I would tolerate myself. But that ending. I can’t declare how much that took me off guard. I wouldn’t have even guessed that was coming but I can’t wait for Made To Ruin to find out what’s going to happen next!!
Made To Break was a dark, spicy, interesting read, that has an unrelenting plot, keeping your attention the entire time ❤️ The spice and relationships between Rowyn, Elliot, Grayson, and Kade are intense and heated, but sprinkled in with the heat are some more intimate, sensitive, supportive moments, which brought a bit of light to the otherwise dark, secretive, and mysterious plot! Questions do get answered, but there is still much to know, and so many more questions after the way that things ended 😧
Rowyn is such a strong, sweet woman, and I loved her 🥺 I felt for her as the story went on, her emotions and some of what she has to endure is heartbreaking and cruel at times… She’s admirable in the way that she continues to show up and stands up for herself, despite everything she goes through, despite not being heard at times, she’s still there, trying ❤️ However, when it comes to Elliot, Grayson, and Kade, she can try to get away from them, buuuuut… they definitely wouldn’t let her get very far, especially not Elliot with the way he gravitates towards her! Speaking of that, I absolutely adored the soft moments she had with Elliot 😌, and of course, also the fiery hot spicy moments with all of them—individually or together ❤️🔥
Elliot, Grayson, and Kade… where do I even start with these dark, dark men.. 😈 They are very different from each other, and I loved how their chapters reflected that! Grayson is all darkness, Elliot brings a bit of sweetness, and Kade has a touch of mischievous energy ❤️ The three of them have been friends for awhile and have one another’s backs, but they also aren’t afraid to call each other out when it’s called for. It was cute to see the jealousy start to come out between them once Rowyn was in the picture too 🤭 And even though the guys, (looking at you in particular Grayson 🫵🏼😤), were frustrating to me at times and didn’t always treat Rowyn the best, they really do all each care about her in their own twisted ways, and they show up for her when it matters ❤️
This was a very dark, gripping, spicy read, that left my mind completely blown! I never would’ve guessed or seen what happened coming 🫢 The red hot heat between Rowyn, Elliot, Grayson, and Kade will make you sweat, and the dark secrets, mysteries, and twists will keep you hooked, leave you shocked, and wanting more. I’m dying to find out what’s going to happen next in book two, it can’t come soon enough!! 😫
Woaaahhhhh dude!!! That was one hell of a mind fuck!! I’m so confused yet so intrigued with that cliffhanger! Check your trigger warnings with this one for sure people! It’s dark dark like pitch black dark and the scene is set at Lockridge University. The FMC, Rowyn is a plus sized freshman whose parents apparently die in a car crash right before she goes off to school at Lockridge on a scholarship. She meets her roommate Misti who ends being her new best friend. Then we meet the MMC’s in the cafeteria. Three hot popular morally grey jocks that run the school because of who their families are connected to which we still don’t know who those people are. …But there is some serious bully enemies to lovers academia tropes for a while when the three boys, Elliot, Kade, and Greyson are forced to choose a freshman girl to be their “chosen” one. They basically make her life hell but she fights back and they all start to catch feelings but whenever they start realizing they are catching feelings they try to shut that shit down by pulling an even worse prank on Rowyn. But then there are people who are watching all of them and intervening, causing extra trouble making them all confused. Then some secrets start to get exposed and the guys start to spiral because their ex Zoe that they all all shared in High School passed away in a traumatic way apparently. Then there’s the unknown number sending the guys a picture of them when they were younger with a little girl next to them but she was facing the other way and they don’t remember a little girl ever being with them growing up. That’s when they start spiraling even more, well more so Elliot and Kade. Greyson just starts acting super weird. Then we have Rowyn whose been having black outs, getting drugged randomly, getting pushed off a cliff by who knows who, then the package and note making her dress and smell like the guys dead ex, and then the black envelope with her dead daddies hand writing telling her she’s a lot more connected and entwined with their world and she was never supposed to be anyone’s chosen but since they all chose her she better run. Then initiation night is when it all comes to a dramatic head and it his from nuts to bonkers to wtf is going on? Give me more!! Many more secrets will be revealed in the second book!! I 10/10 recommend this book, I read it in one sitting just like I do with all of Ashlynn’s books cuz she’s the shit!! But seriously I’m really looking forward to what happens in the next book cuz that ending is as brutal in this book!!!
I was nowhere close to being prepared for this book—and honestly, I don’t think there’s any such thing as being “ready” when it comes to Ashlynn’s writing. To her credit, she’s always warned us, “Y’all ain’t ready,” and she has yet to be wrong.
This story took me to places I’m still trying to process. It genuinely left me questioning everything, lingering in my mind long after I turned the final page. It hit differently, and putting it down felt nearly impossible. Even now, I feel like I’m still wandering through the maze of this world and its characters. Rowyn’s story alone completely wrecked me—and then you add Elliot, Kade, and Grayson into the mix, each with their own layers, and it becomes something even more intense.
I’m equally captivated and unsettled about where this series is headed. Ashlynn has a way of creating worlds and characters that burrow deep into your thoughts, leaving you craving more one moment and almost hesitant to continue the next. The storyline is anything but straightforward, and without spoiling anything, I’ll just say it keeps you constantly guessing.
That ending had me yelling—and yes, my Kindle may have taken a hit (thank goodness for protective cases). And the cliffhanger? Let’s just say she’s earned her title as the queen of them.
If you enjoy dark, unhinged, psychological rollercoasters that grow increasingly twisted with just the right amount of heat, this book will absolutely deliver. One thing is certain: Lockridge University is overflowing with secrets, and I’ll be here, theories in hand, waiting to see how many of them come to light.
I was so excited to of been accepted for this ARC, I enjoy all of Ashlynns books so I knew I was going to love this & of course I was right, this was beyond amazing 🤯👏🏼🤎
Rowyn has managed to get into Lockridge University she’s over the moon! Having lost both her parents to a car crash, having no one in her life & so very little confidence she’s hopeful that this is going to be the change she needs for the better!
Unfortunately within the first minute of stepping into Lockridge she sees that’s not going to be the case. She’s stumbled upon the 3 well known bullies & it seems that now they’ve set their sights on her they’re not willing to let her go.
Grayson, Kade & Elliot run Lockridge University, what they say goes & they’ve noticed Rowyn! She’s curvy, she’s sassy & she’s so beautiful. They’re allowed to bully & torment her, they can touch her & make her scream all they want!
But if anyone else does it…they’ll die. The boys have their own plan for her & nothing will get in the way
😱🤯😱 HOLY 💩!!! The ENDING…whaaaaat!! Erm I’m gobsmacked 😶 This was INCREDIBLE!
The layers had me turning those pages as fast as I could, you think you’ve worked it out, then something else pops up, you’re fully lead into a false sense of security with those boys!
I can’t get over the ending, the fact it’s on a cliff hanger & left like that! When is book 2 coming Ashlynn?? I neeeed to know what, when, where & how!!
Ouft it really was unreal! Thank you so much for the ARC! This is now released into the wild & you most definitely don’t want to miss out on it!! 🤎
Alrighty everyone, say it with me: Check the TW/CW before diving in! I was nowhere near the realm of being even a little ready for this book which definitely means being ready was never going to happen which is par for the course when it comes to Ashlynn's books. To her credit she has always told us "Y'all ain't ready" & dollars to doughnuts she ain't never lied. This book definitely took me to places mentally that still have me sitting here questioning my actual reality. This one definitely hit different & putting it down was beyond difficult. When I tell y'all I am still lost in the maze of this world & it's characters... Rowyn's story alone has got me allllll the way ducked up & then you add in Elliot, Kade, Grayson, & their stories... I'm equal parts hooked to yet terrified to see where this series goes. Ashlynn's worlds & characters always find a way to wiggle in & hunker down in my grey matter & will have me craving more one minute & hiding from it the next. This was for sure not a straight line storyline, without giving anything away I will leave it at that. The ending had me yelling & throwing my kindle (thank goodness for protective cases lmao) & the cliffhanger... we love our Cliffy Queen. If dark, unhinged, psychological rollercoasters that just get more twisted as it goes on with a little spice thrown in is your thing, then this book is for you. In closing all I will say is this, Lockridge University is full of secrets & I will be waiting with questions & theories to see how many this series reveals.
“The more you run, the more I’ll chase just to smell your fear. Just to see you tremble when I’m near. It’s the only thing that helps me sleep at night,”
It’s Rowyn Hall’s freshman year at Lockridge University. Her first mistake was coming to this school.. Her second was meeting Elliot Jacobs, Kade Langley, and Grayson Mercer.
The boys of Lockridge run the school, and everyone knows not to mess with Grayson, Elliot, or Kade. I wouldn’t mess with them if I were you…
Every year, the senior captains have a choosing but no one knows what the hell that means… What happens when Rowyn attracts not one but three dangerous boys of Lockridge? Can she stay away from them, or was she made to break or break something back?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ashlynn has done it again with another novel that had me on my knees. From her last book, I knew I had to expect the unexpected and was prepared for how dark this would get, but I never expected that twist at the end. I had a feeling it would cause some tension, but I never expected this (not trying to spoil it), and I did eat it all up. I need the second book! I need to know what happens next! 😱
Will I be reading more of Ashlynn? Is that even a question, because of course!! I need more of her, and I’ll need something to feel my appetite while I wait for this second book!
Thank you to Ashlynn for the chance to read and review this e-arc in exchange for an honest review! All thoughts and opinions remain my own.
Holy crap! That was freaking AWESOME!! I mean, just wow! That was crazy! So many ups and downs, twists and turns, it was just insane! I don’t know how Rowyn didn’t end up in an asylum!! I know she was supposed to break, but I have no idea how she dealt with everything!
This was not a light and cutesy book. Not even close. Not even a little bit. Not even at all!!! The bullying was on a whole other level! The things that Grayson did were horrendous, Kade was only slightly better. Elliot seemed ok, but looks can be deceiving! Those boys are definitely kings!!
And that ending…I have SOOO many four letter words that I am not aloud touut say online for that ending. There are cliffhangers and then there is whatever Ashlynn just did to me. I’m going to be feeling this hangover for a long while!! I’ve read lots of academia bully RH. It’s one of my all time favorite tropes! So please trust me when I say that you NEED to read this book! You will regret not reading this masterpiece!! But now I have to go back to sitting here, drumming my fingers on the table, extremely impatiently waiting for book 2 to get some answers!!!
OMG besties… I need a moment because what did I just read?! "Made To Break" is not just dark... it’s straight-up brutal in the best, most addictive way. Rowyn walks into Lockridge thinking she can keep her head down and survive, but the second Grayson, Kade, and Elliot clock her? Game. Over. These men don’t just rule the campus... they own it, and the power imbalance is suffocating in a way that had me stressed, hooked, and flipping pages like my life depended on it.😳
This is heavy on the psychological torment, obsession, and that slow, suffocating unraveling of the FMC. Rowyn is put through it, and I mean THROUGH IT. The tension? Insane. The dynamics? Twisted. The vibes? Dark, intense, and wildly consuming. If you love your bully romance unforgiving with 🚫 hand-holding... this is that book.👀
And listen… I was mentally prepared for a cliffhanger, but THAT ending?! Absolutely NOT. I’m still sitting here like… WAIT, WhAT?! Excuse me?! I need answers, therapy, and Book 2. ASAP!
My Ratings: ⭐ 4.5/5 ▪︎ 🥵 3.5/5
🥀 My ratings and review are my own. For my rating scale breakdown, head over to my Goodreads &/or Amazon profile! 🖤
I received this as an ARC and I am voluntarily reviewing. I wanted to add that since I am a couple of days late.
I have loved all the books I have read by this author so far but this one has been my least favorite. I felt like I was reading about kids in high school rather than in college, and the dialog in this one was a little off for me. I did not like the nickname Chonkers simply for the juvenile aspect of it.
The author definitely knows how to write a spicy scene though so I will always give that part of the book a top tier rating! I am torn on whether I want to read book 2 or not. I do want to find out what happened but this book really just missed the mark on a lot of things for me.
This book is dark and I LOVE dark and taboo romance so I will also always give this author a top tier rating for that aspect as well! She always nails that 🖤
This is MY opinion though so I do want to encourage everyone that wants to read it, to definitely give it a go! You may enjoy it more than I did and I never want to deter anyone from reading something!
WTF?! I need book 2 like now. This book had me hooked from the very first page and didn’t let go. I finished it in one day. I was instantly pulled into their world and left with so many questions, especially after that ending!!! Rowyn captures the attention of not one, but three captains of Lockridge’s sports teams, guys who refuse to let her stay invisible and instead torment her in their own ways. Because of who they are, they get away with everything, and no one can stop them. But then things start getting… strange. Secrets begin to unravel, all tying back to a night from years ago that no one talks about. A forgotten memory resurfaces, and everything starts to spiral. This book was so good! addictive, intense, and full of twists that keep you questioning everything. I am more than ready for the next book already. ⚠️ Make sure to check the trigger warnings before diving in.
If you’re going into Made to Break, just know this isn’t a light read—it’s heavy, unsettling, and intentionally pushes boundaries. Ashlynn leans all the way into dark themes, weaving trauma, bullying, and non-consensual elements into a story that becomes more intense the deeper you go. What stood out most to me was how the tension builds. It starts dark, but the author keeps raising the stakes, layering emotional damage and psychological twists that make it hard to look away. It’s the kind of book that makes you uncomfortable in a way that feels deliberate, not careless. The characters are messy and flawed, shaped by their trauma in ways that aren’t always easy to understand—but that’s part of what makes the story hit. You’re not necessarily meant to like everything; you’re meant to feel it. And that ending… brutal. The plot twist hits hard and the cliffhanger leaves you reeling, needing answers immediately. That said, this won’t be for everyone. The darker content can feel overwhelming at times, and some scenes may push past comfort zones depending on your triggers. Overall: A gripping, emotionally intense dark romance that doesn’t hold back. If you like stories that test limits and leave you stunned at the end, this one delivers.
Releasing into the wild on the 17th! Check the triggers, if you know Ashlynn you know theres a nice long list; if you don't know Ashlynn, you're about to so welcome to the show 😈! But seriously, check the triggers because this is a dark one! Wtf was that ending?! The cliffhanger queen that Ashlynn is strikes again! I seriously feel line I'm left with more questions than answers at this point 😅. Rowyn goes to college looking for a fresh start, and it looks like she'll get it. Until the campus gods - Grayson, Kade, and Elliot - aka the spawns of Satan decide to make her their chosen girl. The twists are what you expect when reading an Ashlynn book, so buckle up! I'm still reeling trying to figure out what I'm feeling 😂 all I know is that I need to read the next one, Made to Ruin! As always, a big thank you to @ashlynnauthor for the privilage to be part of your permanent ARC team!
I don’t even know where to start because this book genuinely messed with my head. It pulled me in right away and had me pausing like wait is this actually happening? Rowyn had me in my feelings the whole time, I just wanted better for her while everything kept getting more chaotic and honestly kind of disturbing. And the guys? Kade, Elliot, and Grayson are straight up awful, like not even secretly soft, just mean and unhinged, but somehow I still couldn’t look away from the disaster. The whole Lockridge situation is full of secrets and crazy stuff that just keeps piling up until you’re completely lost but also obsessed. The twists kept coming, the mind games were wild, and that ending? I was actually sitting there like you’ve got to be kidding me. I need the next book immediately because I have way too many questions I need answers to.
Made to Break by Ashlynn is one of those reads that grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go. The tension is immediate, the emotions are intense, and the dynamic between the characters is messy in the best way. It leans into darker themes with confidence, giving you that push-and-pull energy that keeps you flipping pages way too fast. Every interaction feels loaded, and the chemistry? Absolutely addictive.
What really makes this book hit is how raw everything feels beneath the drama. The characters aren’t perfect—they’re complicated, flawed, and driven by emotions that sometimes wreck everything around them. Watching their relationship unfold is chaotic, emotional, and honestly hard to look away from. If you’re into angsty, dark romance with high tension and unforgettable character dynamics, Made to Break deserves a spot on your TBR
Made To Break ( Boys Of Lockridge Series Book 1 ) A Dark Why Choose Bully Romance, Football , Hockey and Baseball, 3 Morally Gray MMC’s and one Kick@ss heroine !! OMG !! There are no words just no perfect words to express the wild ride Ashlynn just took me on . Made To Break is easily one of the best books I’ve read This Year . Dark , Steamy, Delicious and Utterly Addictive. Prepare yourself for the unexpected, prepare yourself to be completely blown away , because the journey I was just taken on , I seriously did not see coming and all i can say without giving anything away is so freaking awesome . Just when I thought I had it all figured out , well I most definitely dld not ! Left with so many questions and unknowns, but that’s ok , I’ll just be over here patiently awaiting the continuation or not so patiently for that matter Lol 😂
Ashlynn is an automatic buy author for me for a reason she delivers the most unhinged, addictive stories every single time, and this one is no exception.
Rowyn, the new scholarship student, barely sets foot on campus before she’s marked. Chosen. Targeted. By the three kings of the school Grayson (football), Elliot (baseball), and Kade (hockey). What starts as cruel entertainment quickly spirals into something darker, and they make her life an absolute nightmare.
The tension? Constant. The twists? Just when you think you’ve got a grip on things nope. And the unanswered questions? They’ll have you flipping pages like your life depends on it.
This one keeps you hooked the entire time and leaves you needing answers. It does have some dark and strong topics so review those before diving in. I’m already counting down to book 2. Solid 4⭐️ read.
I like really dark (pitch black) books. The more trigger warnings the better for me. I did not really find this to be a dark romance.
Some spoilers..........................
I felt like the pranks they pulled on the mfc were very juvenile especially to be college students. I also couldn't stand the fact that they nicknamed her "chunkers", called her a fat slut during oral, and laughed when people called her humpty dumpty, especially since she is very insecure about her weight and also a cutter (which at least one mmc knew she was cutting). Yes, in dark romance there is degradation, but they worship their woman's body not shame her for her looks and weight. The last 15% of the book did have me intrigued on how book 2 will play out.
This story was a rollercoaster! I’m confused and intrigued by the cliffhanger, as is typical with Ashlynn. Note triggers: dark setting at Lockridge University. FMC Rowyn, a plus-sized freshman who lost her parents in a car accident, attends college on a scholarship. She meets roommate Misti. In the cafeteria, we meet the MMCs—three attractive, popular, morally ambiguous jocks with family ties that dominate the school Elliot, Kade and Greyson. They target Rowyn, creating a tense enemy-to-lovers dynamic, tormenting her, but she fights back. Emotions grow, hidden behind pranks. Initiation night erupts into chaos, revealing more secrets. Many secrets will be uncovered in the second book! I highly recommend it; I read it in one sitting. Can’t wait for the next, the ending was brutal!
I need book 2 yesterday. The ending is most definitely not what I was expecting. It's twist was a little too far for a cliff-hanger but then I have come to expect that from Ashlynn.
Rowyn lost her parents on her 17th birthday and the only thing she has is her scholarship to Lockridge university. Where she meets Misti her roommate / new friend. One of the first thing Misti does his warn her to steer clear of Grayson, Elliot and Kade not knowing that she as already had a run in with them.
There is more at play with the boys mysterious texter and the letters for Rowyn's dad that appear.
It's a dark romance that doesn't have much romance in it. Obsessions and bullying but no romance.
Check triggers and hopefully it's not too long until the next instalment.
This book had me from the very beginning! A dark, why choose bully romance? Yes please! But that ending and cliffhanger.. I NEED the next book!
Rowyn is the new girl in school and she has captured the attention of THREE of the men who run the school. But the way they bully her, whew they put this girl through it all. Elliott, Grayson, and Kade are dark bullies. But each of them want her, but they don’t know each of them have chosen her too. Elliott seems to be the sweeter one, Grayson is the complete jerk, and Kade is a good mixture of the both. I can’t tell if I love them or if I hate them all.
This book is full of crazy secrets that are starting to unravel. Everything leads back to that one girl and that one night years ago. I can’t wait to see what is in store next.
If you are looking for a sweet love story between 3 hot men and a plus sized girl, this is NOT your book. BUT if you are looking for a dark, manipulative, bůl·lŷ to the max book, Ash had you covered! This is not one of those books where the bad boy is mean for a few chapters then BAM love sick. Oh no. You will not like these men. You will LOATHE them. But the story! the mystery! Their target? Rowyn. A plus sized girl on scholarship to what she believed to be her dream school. As always, Ash leaves us dazed, a little confused, wanting more and cursing her name! I could not put it down!! READ YOUR TWs! This is not a light hearted read! 5⭐️ 3🌶
Made to Break is book 1 in the Boys Of Lockridge series and is a dark, why choose, bully romance. This story is not for the weak. I have no triggers, but the bullying Rowyn experiences from Greyson, Kade, and Elliot really angered me. They are mean. They are cruel. They like to hurt her and watch her tears fall. They torment her, all while secretly wanting her. The story is mysterious and suspenseful. There is a lot psychological manipulation. But the ending will have you hanging on the edge of your seat! I didn't want this to be over and now I can't wait for the next book. You definitely need to check the trigger warning first, but if you like your books dark and cruel, you need to check this one out!!
The cliffhanger at the end!! WTF that’s how it ends, I need more! I will be thinking about the end and trying to connect the pieces until the next book is out. This book sucked me in from the beginning and held me in its clutches till the very end. All the secrets, the twists, the chaos made me feel like I was going crazy with Rowyn. The unhinged depravity of these men, I still don’t know if I hate or love them, it’s complicated. This was such an emotional, chaotic, addicting book, I loved it! Check your triggers and be prepared for a cliffhanger that’s going to leave you wanting so much more.
Ashlynn has written another twisted dark story that had me flipping the pages. This story is not for the faint of heart. So buckle up buttercup for this twisted world with the Lockridge University and our MMC's Greyson, Kade and Elliot. And our beautiful, broken FMC Rowyn. So many secrets, very emotional, bullying, obsession, psychological power plays. Twists that keep you guessing. This is a must read for all you darklings out there. Check TW before reading. And now after that mouth hanging open and yelling What The **** cliffhanger I am so ready for book 2. Yes please. Ashlynn thank you so much for this totally delicious disturbing dark bully romance.
Found this difficult to read, the bullying Rowyn received from being fat, hit hard. I didn’t like any of the male protagonists, but at least Kade and Grayson were honest about their intentions, while Eliot felt deceitful. And as supposedly best friends, they hated each other. I began to wonder if Rowyn had some kind of mental health issue, DID? Though I did wonder if her room mate could be trusted. I think I can some how I felt about this book in one word. CONFUSED I don’t have the foggiest how I feel about the characters or the story, but I do know that I need to read the next one, especially after that ending. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️
Did I have to pick my jaw off the floor? Why yes I did. That seems to be a reoccurring theme with Ashlynn and her stories. I am so excited for what comes next because I know that it will be just as action pack, sexy, devioulsy hot, and a mindfuck that will leave me rushing for her next story. Confusion, intrigue all things I experience with this book, and answers get sprinkled in through time coming just when you need then and not before. The world she created is mindblowing and how she keeps track of it I'll never understand. Rowyan, Elliot, Kade, and Grayson a why choose of darkness that has me down on my knees and begging for more.
