I finished this book, but it was more skimming than reading after the half-way point was reached. It just wasn't that interesting. It bogged down a lot with little details that often won't matter in the long run. Ultimately, nothing happened in the 700+ pages that moved the needle. It was all setting stuff up for the future at maximum verbosity.
The sex scenes were really long, unnecessarily long. And some of the same problems that showed up in previous books were present in them. Describing how a woman tastes as "sour" just ruins a sex scene.
Sadly, I think I am done with this series. It took me a week to get through this, as I kept putting it down.
After Eleanor pays out her debt to some of Akio’s lovers and vassals, the crew takes stock of recent gains. We also find out Kunlun seems to have intentionally released flawed cultivation techniques but with a few quips from Tan and spiritual pure physique the problem for Daiyu have been resolved.
