This felt like a full circle book 💕
I remember Cruz from way back at the beginning of Bourbon Canyon.
And I’m so glad he ( and hopefully his brother) got a happy ending.
I just wanted to give him a hug.
His backstory. Ugh.
Elodie: the towns pretty little baker
I enjoyed the backstory mystery that revolves around her.
We spent a lot of time at the bakery.
And so happy to see Cruz bring her out of her shell/funk
I mean she made him really work for it and play the long game tho.

Another fantastic addition to the Foster House series. I adored Cruz and Elodie so dang much. I wanted to give them both hugs so much and was so happy they found each other. Both of their back stories were heartbreaking, but watching them fall in love despite their hangups made me swoon.
Cruz is an absolute consent king and I loved watching him traverse the black cat that was Elodie. He listened to her every request, even when she wasn't sure that was actually what she wanted. It was angsty and entertaining at times.
The spice was perfect. A little less than the first two books of the series because this was a muchhh slower burn.
The audio was fantastic. I loved Time Paige and Kelsey Navarro in this DUET narration, they did such a wonderful job bringing these characters to life. Thank you so much to Ear Candy Promotions for the advanced copy!

Walker Rose has done it again. She always has a way of writing the most swoon-worthy men that makes you fall in love for them and this little lovely small town romance! Elodie has secrets from her past that seem to make their way to the present....so OF COURSE Cruz will come in a save the day! Can't wait to continue this series!
Another thing I love is that her characters have the most unique and cute names! Elodie and Cruz are just so cute!

I’m still sitting here with the biggest goofy grin because Elodie and Cruz just completely stole my heart.
First of all… small town romance + bakery owner + whiskey-making rancher??? That combination alone had me hooked. The whole vibe of Huckleberry Springs feels cozy and warm and a little messy in the best way, like a kitchen that always smells like sugar and cinnamon but also has flour on literally every surface.
Elodie coming back to town trying to start over with her bakery and keep her past locked up tight hit me right in the feelings. She’s strong but also carrying so much, and you can feel how badly she wants a quiet life where no one digs too deep. And then along comes Cruz Foster… the walking, talking temptation with a distillery, a ranch, and that lopsided smile that would make anyone forget their own name.
Cruz though. CRUZ. I’m obsessed. The man starts off as the charming flirt but the more you see of him the more layers there are. He’s patient, he’s kind, he shows up when she needs him without pushing too hard. The car trouble scene? Him just being there? My heart basically melted into a puddle. And when he backs off because he thinks that’s what she needs but still quietly supports her?? Ugh. That kind of sweet devotion gets me every time.
Their chemistry is ridiculous in the best way. The banter, the tension, the slow falling… it felt natural and real and when they finally gave in to it I was kicking my feet like a teenager. And the emotional moments? The parts where Cruz shares his past and Elodie lets her guard down? So good. Those scenes hit hard because you really believe in them as people, not just characters.
Also the baking and whiskey details sprinkled through the story were perfection. I swear I could almost smell the cookies and the oak barrels while reading.
And then the secrets… because of course small towns never let secrets stay buried. Watching Elodie struggle with whether to protect Cruz by leaving or trust him with the truth absolutely wrecked me. My heart hurt for her because you could feel how much she loved him.
Honestly this book was cozy, emotional, romantic, and just straight up addictive. Elodie and Cruz are the kind of couple you root for so hard your chest hurts a little.
If you love small town romance, protective but sweet heroes, strong women trying to rebuild their lives, and chemistry that sparks like a match in a whiskey barrel… you need this book immediately. I loved every second and now I’m not ready to leave Huckleberry Springs. 💛🥃🍪📚

I enjoyed this book immensely, a romance novel with complex characters and intriguing storylines that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time. Elodie left Huckleberry Springs to attend culinary school, and while she was gone, she got involved in things she is not proud of, things she never talks about, but she is back in town now running her own bakery. Cruz Foster did not have the best of lives growing up, and has done things to warrant a bad reputation, but he turned his life around and has redeemed himself to his family, friends, and people in the town. He has a crush on Elodie, but thinks she wants nothing to do with him or the like of him, thinks she deserves better, but that does not stop him from trying. Cruz runs the distillery with his brother and brings different liquors to Elodie to bake with, and I loved the scene when he first arrived with her order, a cute and hilarious scene. Elodie is super closed off, and he senses she has something going on, but he is a patient man, does not push her or give up on her. I thought these two were great together and for each other, but they both had issues and insecurities they needed to get past, and allow themselves to be loved, and see they were worthy of it. Cruz was a gem of a man, and the things he did for her were thoughtful and meaningful. I enjoyed the layers of the story and how they all played out, with the perfect balance of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions, and a slow-burn, but so worth the wait romance. The writing, plot, and world-building are fantastic, as are the character depth, growth, and development. Walker Rose, thank you for this fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Kelsey Navarro Foster and Tim Paige deliver a fantastic performance voicing these characters, humanizing them with their personalities and emotions. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. Kelsey Navarro Foster nailed it as Elodie and was a natural in the role, and Tim Paige was just as fabulous in Cruz’s role, both embodying their characters completely. The performance by these talented and entertaining voice artists was captivating and took the story to new heights.

The pain from past mistakes keeps her guarded, and at times it truly broke my heart watching how much she carries alone.
Cruz, the town’s broken cowboy turned whiskey maker, has been drawn to Elodie for years. He’s known around town for being a relentless flirt, but it quickly becomes clear that the charm and teasing are a bit of armor hiding a deeper heart. The best part? Elodie sees straight through it and refuses to fall for the act.
What makes their relationship so compelling is the slow, steady way it develops. Cruz doesn’t push Elodie or try to force her to open up. Instead, he’s quietly present, showing up, supporting her, and building a friendship rooted in shared past pain and growing trust.

This was another beautiful story in the Foster House Series! I have been falling in love with this series and these amazing characters. Walker Rose is always making sure I'm smiling and swooning while listening to her books.
The narrators Kelsey Navarro Foster & Tim Paige did a fantastic job telling Elodie & Cruz's story. They held my attention and kept me entertained while I was listening to this book. I love how they made me feel a connection to the characters as well.
Cruz was such a great character. He might have been known as a flirt but this man only had eyes for one girl and that was Elodie! Cruz has some baggage from his past but he is a better person because of his past. I love how much he cared for Elodie and would protect and fight for her no matter what.
Elodie is one stubborn woman!! She has baggage as well and she wants to do everything herself and not ask for help from anyone. But once Cruz finds out there is no stopping him from coming to her rescue. These two have such great chemistry and I just loved how their relationship blossomed.
I had so many moments that I was smiling and giddy, some moments I got mad, but in the end I was left with a wonderful ending! I can't wait for the next book in this series! I HIGHLY recommend this book and series!

Elodie has mixed feelings about Cruz. She’s attracted to him, but his charming persona reminds her too much of the past she’s been trying to forget.
Their relationship, evolving from frienemies to friends to lovers, was truly beautiful. Cruz kept getting humbled over and over again—an entertaining sight—but he never gave up; he genuinely wanted to be there for her in any way he could.
Elodie, in turn, saw behind Cruz’s charming exterior and realized there was so much more to him—he was truly an incredible person.
These two were a perfect match in heaven! They are strong individuals, carrying past hurts they’re ashamed of and still feeling a bit broken. But together, they began to see that their past doesn’t have to define them anymore.
I loved watching both of them heal together, helping each other realize just how loved they are—not only by each other but also by their community. Their relationships with their siblings were especially wholesome and heartwarming.
The solution to Elodie’s problem was one I had anticipated, and I’m so glad Cruz finally faced his demons.

Just the word flirt was enough to make me sign up for this ARC.
The strongest part of the book is the banter between the main characters. Elodie brings attitude and confidence that make her fun to follow while Cruz leans into the classic charming but broody love interest energy. Their back and forth is playful and engaging at the start and the small-town setting adds a cosy backdrop that works well for a romance built on tension and proximity.
Where the story loses a bit of steam is once the emotional tension starts giving way to predictable romance beats. The conflict feels somewhat repetitive and the characters occasionally rely on familiar tropes instead of deeper development. What begins as sharp chemistry slowly softens into something a little more routine which makes the middle portion drag slightly.
That said it’s still a quick, entertaining read with a likable cast and a light atmosphere. If you enjoy banter heavy romances with a touch of small-town charm and low stakes drama, it definitely has its moments. I also didn't read the book before but was able to follow through this book.
Overall: a cute, flirty romance that’s enjoyable in the moment even if it doesn’t leave a lasting impression.

This was a cute book and one i enjoyed. Cruz is part owner of a whiskey distillery and has had a crush on Elodie, the town’s bakery owner, for years. Elodie is closed off, with good reason, but finally gives Cruz a chance.
I loved that despite Cruz’s reputation as a flirt he wasn’t a player. It was sweet that his interest in Elodie kept him from seeing other people, despite her rejection of him for so long. Elodie is facing a threat but keeping that to herself and won’t tell anyone about it. Whiskey Flirt is the second book in the Foster House series focusing on Cruz and Elodie. Cruz is part owner in Foster House Gold located in Huckleberry Springs, Montana. Cruz has had a thing for the quiet town baker, Elodie, for a long time and, after some bumps, finally gets her to take a chance on him.
Cruz has quite a bit of baggage from his childhood but he has become a true cowboy gentleman and reading his internal dialogue of him fighting his insecurities just makes me love him more. Cruz has definitely made Mae Bailey proud!
Elodie was harder for me to love with her holding on tight to her secrets and not trusting Cruz after he shows her what a great guy he is over and over again. Elodie has been through a lot and is just trying to keep her bakery open and her secrets hidden. I wished she would have opened up sooner, but Elodie grew a lot and ended up getting her happy ending.
I highly recommend reading Whiskey Flirt especially if you are caught up on all of Walker Rose's books so you can fully appreciate Cruz's growth! If you have not read the others, pick up Bourbon Bachelor, the first book in the Bourbon Canyon series, and start binging!

This book was all about how a character's past doesn’t define them. I truly adored Cruz and Elodie, both had past trauma that they were trying so hard to overcome. They were so deserving of each other and their HEA was a slow burn but a welcome one 🩷

These characters have been through so much in their lives and finding each other is just what they both needed to thrive.
This FMC, she's strong, independent, but has enough baggage for the entire town of Huckleberry Springs. Despite her everything she works hard and bakes even harder to prove her worth and try to right her wrongs.
The MMC, is a tall drink of cowboy...he has a past but has worked so hard and has managed to turn his life around. He's a hard worker and is loyal to his family....but he's even more devoted to this sweet little closed off baker that he just can't seem to get enough of!
These two are so sweet together...the banter. The tension. The push and pull.
And lawd are they HOT together... like stay out of the kitchen HOT!

This one was so needed after the last book in this series and witnessing Cruz long for Elodie while she kept distance between them. That carries into this book, and we learn the why's of her barriers and come to sympathize with her. We learn about Cruz's past, which will absolutely break your heart, and come to appreciate the man he has become all the more. These two compliment each other so well and are so darn cute together.
The suspense storyline that takes place in this one will have you on the edge of your seat. I really enjoyed how it was handled, and especially how it was rectified. It was an interesting twist of taking something negative and utilizing it for something good. This series has been so good so far, and I look forward to what comes next!

This is book 2 in Rose's Foster House series. A great addition to the series that can easily be read / listened as a standalone. I loved our main characters Cruz and Elodie who are beautifully narrated by the talents of Tim Paige and Kelsey Navarro Foster. First, I'd like to say what a great job these two narrators did in bringing our characters to life and being able to add the emotion of each character and situation. Next, I'd like to paise Rose for delivering a well written and smooth flowing storyline. While Elodie's character felt a bit wishie washy I love how these two came together and the insecurity between them as their relationship is so new and how trust was hard won but makes it all worth it. Rose delivers great balance of sweet romance, steamy chemistry and some humor to lighten some seriousness. Overall, a wonderful listen and I'm eager for more in this series and from the author!

When I say I ate this up, I’m not even exaggerating... I had this bad boy 60% done in one sitting. I was hooked.
This is my second book by Walker Rose, and can we just talk about her MMCs for a second? Because they are PEAK male goodness. Cruz Foster? Elite. Top tier. The standard. The yearning in this man had me unwell. Watching him quietly pine and patiently wait for his lil baker to lower those sky-high walls? Inject it directly into my veins.
I loved the softness under his charm. The hard worker, the guy who’s done the work to fix himself. That emotional depth? Delicious. If the rest of the men in the adjacent series are written this well, I need to go back and binge immediately because I am clearly missing out on a full-course meal.
The pacing was bang on. Satisfying....much like how I would imagine Elodie’s baked goods taste. I was locked in, fully invested, absolutely turning pages.
I cannot wait to see what Walker Rose serves up next. Thank you to the author for an early copy. All opinions are my own.

Cruz’s charm is obvious from the start. He takes every opportunity to flirt with Elodie, and their playful banter is one of the highlights of the story. What begins as light, friendly teasing slowly grows into something deeper as their relationship develops. Elodie is a confident, independent heroine, and it was enjoyable watching her dynamic with Cruz evolve.
There’s also a bit of conflict, which adds some tension as their story unfolds. I did find myself a little more attached to Cruz as a character, likely because we’ve already met him in previous books, but it was still nice to see their journey together.
Overall, this was a solid small-town romance—quick, engaging, and filled with a cast of likeable characters. I had a good time reading it. I’ll definitely be tuning in to follow along with Lane’s story next.

I loved Cruz and Elodie's story. I was drawn into this from the first few chapters and did not want to put this book down. These main characters I definitely have got to say are something special. They both have a past that wasn't easy. I really liked seeing the growth within these characters throughout the story. And the narrative is beautifully written. I loved the small town romance vibes in this. It is like one of my favorite tropes and this author does it very well. Another thing that I liked about this story was how it came across with such a realness to it. The banter was so, so good too. This had me all up in my feels. An absolute must read. This is an amazing story.

I listened to the audiobook version of this story and I have mixed feelings about these characters. I will start by saying I did not like Elodie at all. I really tried to like her but she frustrated me so many times throughout the story. I get she had trauma, and had been through a lot but she was so rude and mean to Cruz for absolutely no reason. That being said, Cruz saved the story for me. That man has the patience of an angel. The way Cruz cares for Elodie, how he shows up for her, how he stands up to her enemies at the end, even at such a steep cost... that is book boyfriend material right there! He gets 5 stars from me! The narration by Tim Paige and Kelsey Navarro Foster was soooo good. They embodied these characters and brought in the emotional aspect in the most perfect way. Even though I was frustrated with Elodie, I still enjoyed the story and I loved Cruz!!

The chemistry between Cruz and Elodie was so good 🥵🔥. I really hated that Elodie was so closed off regarding her past. She had good reason but it was definitely at the detriment of her mental health. The constant keeping of secrets felt a bit repetitive towards the end and I just wanted Elodie to get out of her own way. Cruz saving the day was 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻. The audio was fantastic! Kelsey Navarro Foster and Tim Paige did a wonderful job bringing Cruz and Elodie to life. An immersion read was perfect. Really loving this series!

This has to be the best book I’ve read from Walker. I’ve anticipated Cruz’s book for a while now, he was always a side character that captured my attention. Seeing the cover you’d think it was a fluffy romance, but it’s not. It is so much more complex and depth driven than that. I loved every minute of this book. You did Cruz justice and you gave Elodie a little wake up call. I love that they are two sides of the same coin, perfect for each other! Bravo and thanks for the advanced copy Author Agency!

Oh how I loved Cruz. He was sweet and swoony, but had his thorns. The way he pined after Elodie, how he focused on being supportive and attentive, but not overwhelming and suffocating was top notch. And I loved Elodie's determination mixed with insecurities - it made her feel so much more real.
All in all, if you're looking for a small town read with a green flag MMC, supportive friends/family and also emotional punch - series by Walker Rose will be great for you.

Oh how I loved Cruz. He was sweet and swoony, but had his thorns. The way he pined after Elodie, how he focused on being supportive and attentive, but not overwhelming and suffocating was top notch. And I loved Elodie's determination mixed with insecurities - it made her feel so much more real.
All in all, if you're looking for a small town read with a green flag MMC, supportive friends/family and also emotional punch - series by Walker Rose will be great for you.

Thanks to Walker Rose and The Author Agency for the ARC of Whiskey Flirt. I have devoured every book since I stumbled across Myles. I was in love with Cruz clear back then but fell even deeper in love with him in this book. Elodie had so much trauma and my first thought was "I can't wait to unpack all of this." And unpack it did we. The spice was spicy and yet not over done. I can't remember the last time I read and was giggling at the characters but thought "damn thats hot!" I loved how the story unfolded and played out. Cruz has officially taken my favorite of Walker Rose MMC from Myles.
