For Lani Love, nothing in life has ever been easy. It started with an overbearing father, a distant mother, and a highly controlled childhood. At nineteen, she finally escapes her home life and heads to the warm city of Austin, Texas, where she hopes the sun will melt away her painful memories. However, she learns all too quickly that just because you leave a place, that place may not leave you. She finds that her past still haunts her, her father still controls her, and the demons of others still torment her. She begins to wonder if she will ever have a normal life until one day, a stranger takes her hand and changes everything.

Hi, I’m Mae East, and I write stories across many different genres. Why? Mostly because I’m probably a little unhinged, slightly unbalanced, or maybe just delightfully psychotic—honestly, no one really knows. What I do know is that I connect more with people than with settings. I’m generally upbeat and positive, but my stories can wander into darker territories. I guess we all crave contrast, right? Even deep within our own souls.

At the heart of it, I love people, and I love telling stories—especially the kind that mean something to someone. And if nothing else, I hope my stories give readers a break from life’s troubles by dropping them straight into someone else’s. My books definitely aren’t for everyone (and honestly, it would be pretty strange if they were), but if you do decide to take a journey with me, I hope it’s worth the trip. And if not? No worries—there might be another story in a different genre that feels more like home.

Either way, thank you so much for stopping by, and from one reader to another, I wish you the very best on all your book-adventures. 📚✨
