He rejected her to save his pack. Now he’ll burn the world to keep her.
Lucia is a ghost in the Blackwood Pack. A human healer with no memory of her past, she has spent years suppressing a gift that is as self-destructive as it is miraculous.
Every life she saves chips away at her own, fueled by a power she can neither understand nor control.
But Lucia is tired of being a shadow. Amidst the chaos of a dying pack, she is on a desperate quest to uncover the truth of who she was before the Blackwood claimed her—and to reclaim the identity that was stolen.
Alpha Kaelen is a ruthless leader driven by a brutal breeding program to save his people. He guards Lucia with a suffocating intensity, driven by a visceral hunger he can no longer ignore. But as the pack’s numbers dwindle and Lucia’s scent transforms, the whispers of her true nature grow too loud to ignore.
As the lethal Beta, Ragnar, begins to circle, offering to help her “explore the limits of her potential,” Lucia must decide: will she remain a caged asset for the man who once threw her away, or will she finally seize her true identity—and decide what the pack is allowed to take from her?
What to expect from The Alpha’s Healer:
• Strategic Growth: Lucia is a real woman with a physical disadvantage that makes survival a constant gamble.
• Subversive Strength: She doesn't suddenly become a warrior; she learns to outplay Alphas using the mind of a scholar and the heart of a survivor.
• Slow-Burn Realism: A dark romance that focuses on the psychological and sensory reality of being a human island in a sea of wolves.
• Vibe: A volatile healer reclaiming her power from the Alpha who nearly broke her.
• Spice: 3 / 5
• Growl Rating: 4 / 5
Note: This is book 1 of a trilogy and ends on a cliffhanger. Lucia and Kaelen’s story continues in book 2.
This was a quick shifter book. The book is part of a series, and this one ends in a cliffhanger. I'm hoping the next book explains a bit more of Lucy's history. Overall, it was enjoyable.
Thanks to Book Sirens for sending me an advanced copy to read and review
It’s labelled as a rejected mate shifter romance but I don’t know how accurate that really is. It was good but not great to be honest. I’m not sure if it was the length of the book or just the book itself but I wasn’t overly invested in the characters and didn’t find many of them to even be consistently likeable.
A fair bit happens, there’s a lot of pack politics going on and there seems to be a plot that will likely be explored in the next books but I don’t know that we have ended this book fully invested in what will happen.
Lucia, Kaelen and Ragnar will drive you nuts most of the time but it looks like there will be some sort of weird not exactly a love triangle, triangle that will happen.
There are a lot of shifter romance books and I wouldn’t put this in the top favorites out of the ones I’ve read.
Thank you to Book Sirens and to the author for this advanced reader copy of the book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily

Okay first of all if you’re like me and start a book after reading the description without checking if it’s a series or a standalone and realize way to late that there are not enough pages left to be a standalone let this be your warning. As you might have guessed, the description itself already had me hooked and even though it’s not a rejected-fated-mate-romance as I have guessed I really enjoyed the book. The story itself is more of a forbidden romance, that is a very quick and easy read with an open ending. The story has a lot of interesting plot points that will hopefully be more fleshed out in the next books. Overall this book seemed more like an introduction to a new series, in which you get to know the main characters, their backstories and the politics. I enjoyed it but have to admit I was hoping for more but I will definitely look out for the next book too see where the story goes.
This was hard to follow at times but was an ok short read. It's part of a trilogy, I believe, and ends on a cliffhanger which I didn't realize at the time which is on me.
Lucia is human and an outsider of the pack. I still don't understand why everyone was so shitty to her when she didn't even come to the pack of her own accord. And she was a child when the previous Alpha pretty much kidnapped her. She doesn't remember any of this. Just that she's human with healing powers that make her feel whatever the one she's healing feels. It's like she takes their ailment into herself. It's weird but works for the story.
Kaelen, the Alpha, and Ragnar, the Beta, both want her. Their pack is stuggling to make babies or keep them alive or something. I didn't get what was going on with that. Maybe it'll be revealed later. Anywho, now it's a pissing contest between the top two wolves in the pack. Kaelen takes other mates to try to breed them. They're not love matches or fated, but borne from necessity. Kaelen doesn't reject Lucia as they never declared their bond. He just kinda ignored her as they were growing up. So It's not really a rejected mate story. It wasn't all that dark either.
One part I didn't like was when Lucia saves Anya, Anya and her mother act like bitches saying they didn't need her help and she took Anya's dignity. Me being the asshole I am, would have flat out told them both, "well ok... I'll let you die next time." 🤷🏽♀️ Lucia is nicer than me.
It ends with Lucia traveling with the scouts and Ragnar to the human towns to try to figure things out. I hope Lucia doesn't have to pick between Kaelen and Ragnar. They both seem well suited to be her mates although Kaelen is the one she has the bond with.

Although this book has some interesting concepts with the Lucia, Kaelen & Ragnar love triangle, the healer's secret past and unusual powers, the story doesn't really have enough meat on the bones for me. Not enough information about the key elements of the story were included for me to be interested in continuing the series. Everything was implied so you are left with too many questions and not enough intrigue. Like when a bear shifter turns up trespassing on wolf shifter territory, asking Lucia to go with him, without giving any explanation as to why or who he was. Nobody questions this or investigates why this happened.
Technically, Alpha Kaelen doesn't reject Lucia as his mate because he never asked her to be. He just ignores her after awhile, with Lucia coming across as a bit of a sap. The whole wolf pack ignores her, treats her like poop and she just accepts it. Lucia apparently is not an Omega or Beta, just a human woman who was taken in by the pack under nefarious circumstances. Even though she feels she has to abide by the Alpha, she seems to have free will and free range of movement, so could leave by her own accord at any time. However, she kind of tricks the Alpha into letting her go on a supply run (so she can secretly seek out other humans), despite nearly being kidnapped the day before. It was also weird that Kaelen asks Lucia to buy him condoms 'because he can't control his strength and might hurt her'. Not sure how condoms would stop him from physically hurting her.
The Alpha's Healer: Fated Mates, Forbidden Bonds delivers an engaging and emotionally charged story filled with tension, loyalty, and the undeniable pull of fate.
What stood out most to me was the connection between the characters. The bond between the alpha and the healer creates a compelling dynamic that balances strength, vulnerability, and trust. As the story unfolds, their relationship grows in meaningful ways, making the emotional stakes feel real and powerful.
The world-building adds depth to the story, weaving together pack dynamics, loyalty, and the challenges that come with forbidden connections. The tension between duty and desire keeps the narrative gripping and makes the characters’ choices feel significant.
For me, this easily earns 5 ⭐ because the story was immersive, emotionally engaging, and difficult to put down.
This is a 5 ⭐ for me because:
• the chemistry between the characters was compelling • the emotional stakes kept the story engaging • the themes of loyalty, fate, and sacrifice added depth • the pacing made it an absorbing and satisfying read
Emotional. Intense. Captivating.
Read this book if you like:
• fated mates stories • forbidden romance • strong emotional connections between characters • supernatural or pack-based worlds
When I picked up this title, I knew it was Book 1 in a series, but I didn't know that it was only part of the story, with the rest to follow in the next installment. That didn't factor into my rating, but I share this because, as a reader, I like to know when the book I'm reading isn't going to have an ending...yet.
This is a fantasy novel about a human woman with healing powers growing up among a pack of wolves. Change is afoot in the land, bringing new threats and new opportunities, and a choice for her to make between two wolves vying for her affections. Told from the perspectives of the girl and one of these wolves, this is an interesting mix of coming-of-age angst, the hurts of youth, and very adult challenges ahead. At the end of this book, there are more questions than answer, but again, that's because this is only part of the story. I found the world-building interesting and the characters compelling, though I'm not completely sold on this heroine yet; either she really doesn't know herself, or she really doesn't understand the affect of her actions on others. Perhaps she'll grow on me in the next installment, which I'm looking forward to reading.
Many thanks to BookSirens for an ARC in exchange for my honest assessment of this work.
This was an interesting read. At first it wasn’t catching my attention and the plot was a bit predictable, but as I kept going I found myself immersed. I must say I read it all in one night and now I NEED to know the rest.
As a person who also experienced being an outcast, too many times for my liking, I was tearing for Lucia. Hoping they would acknowledge her presence. It’s a character that you want to shield and give a warm hug.
This seems to lead to a very heartwarming story and I’m here for it. Can’t wait to know more about Lucia’s past.
I was part of the ARC team for this book so I received an advanced review copy and I think I was expecting a more devastating and intense drama around the plot, which I’m hoping to see in book 2. Lucia is also too submissive sometimes and I was hoping she wouldn’t accept some things so easily. That’s why I won’t give it a 5 star. Although I found it very light to read, after a few pages it starts to get more interesting and feeling more like a romance that you want to see getting that happy ending.
This was a really enjoyable, quick shifter romance that pulled me in more than I expected.
I liked the overall premise and the mix of fated mates and forbidden elements—it kept things interesting and gave the story a bit more tension than your typical shifter read. The dynamic between Lucia, Kaelen, and Ragnar definitely adds intrigue, and I’m curious to see how that develops in the next books.
That said, it does feel a bit like an introduction to a larger story. There’s a lot going on with pack politics and character backstories that aren’t fully explored yet, and the ending leans into that with a bit of an open/cliffhanger feel. Personally, I didn’t mind too much since it made me want to continue the series, but I can see how it might not work for everyone.
The pacing is fast and makes it an easy read, though I would have loved a bit more depth in some moments to feel more connected to the characters.
Overall, a solid and engaging start to a series. Not perfect, but definitely entertaining—and I’ll be picking up the next book to see where it goes.
I picked "The Alpha's Healer: Fated Mates, Forbidden Bonds" by Marina Belle purely because the cover caught my eye at the right moment. I'll be honest, paranormal romance and fantasy aren't usually my go-to genres, but I'm so glad I took the chance on this one. The story opens with such a haunting atmosphere as Lucia, a human healer, tends to the Blackwood Pack during a time of crisis when their bloodline is mysteriously failing . The world-building feels lived-in and authentic, with clear hierarchies and rules that actually matter to the plot rather than just existing for decoration.
What really hooked me was the complex dynamic between Lucia and Kaelen, the Alpha. Their relationship isn't a simple love-at-first-sight situation. Instead, it's layered with tension, misunderstanding, and genuine care that feels earned rather than forced. When Kaelen commands Lucia to step back from healing the pack members because she nearly killed herself during Eliza's labor, you can feel the protective fear beneath his authoritative words.
I just finished The Alpha Healer: Fated Mates, Forbidden Bonds, and overall, I really enjoyed it!
I will say the book started a little slow for me, but once the story picked up, I found myself invested in the characters and wanting to know what happens next. I appreciated that the spicy scenes were sprinkled throughout the story rather than being constant, allowing the plot and character development to take center stage.
My biggest critique is the writing style. Personally, I would have preferred more of a first-person POV using “I” statements from the characters. The third-person perspective sometimes felt like an outsider was telling the story rather than allowing me to fully experience it through the characters themselves.
That said, it was a good read, and I’m definitely interested in continuing the series to see what happens in Book 2. If you’re a fan of paranormal romance, fated mates, and a balance of story and spice, I’d recommend giving this one a try! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
An enjoyable read and is part of a trilogy. This story has the following:
Kaelen - the wolf pack's Alpha
Ragnar - the wolf pack's Beta
Lucia - a human brought into the pack - both the Alpha & Beta are interested in her
Kaelen already has two chosen mates because their pack is dying and the pack needs to have more children born to keep the pack growing. He has feelings for Lucia, but he tries to keep it in check by saying he is protecting her for the pack because she is a healer. Ragnar wants her as well and challenges Kaelen by saying he is going to court her.
Lucia has a complicated past that she is unaware of, and Kaelen's mother knows more about Lucia's history that she lets on. The story ends for now with Lucia leaving the pack, with Ragnar accompanying her, to the human world to see if she can learn more about where she is from, what she is, and how she fits into the pack. Looking forward to the next book to get answers.
When the Alpha’s mother returns to the clan with an unknown babe from the forest, Lucia was treated as an outcast as she grew up. She has great healing powers and uses them too much for others at a cost to herself. The Blackwood pack is slowly dying out. No new children have been born. The Alpha has taken two female wolves hoping to procreate. Kalen, the Alpha, has always been drawn to Lucia. He wants her as his mate, but it is forbidden. When Lucia’s monthly comes and has a scent every male in the forest can tell she is ready. Ragnar Kalen’s Beta wants her for himself. Both are vying for her. She has become tired of the looks, the mummers and the hate that comes her way. She wants to leave the pack and go visit the human city with Ragnar to see what human life is like. Will she be able to return once she has a taste of freedom? Will she even return at all? This book ends in a cliff hanger.
This short story was interesting and well written. It didn’t take long to read and set the second story up nicely. I initially had the 2nd book to read as an ARC and then found this one, also as an ARC, so decided to give this one a go first.
The main character has a healing power that she has difficulty controlling and a past unknown to most she is living amongst in the Blackwood pack. The dynamic between her and the other pack members is a bit sad, but I’m hopeful it can get better in the future.
It’s a story worth reading before book 2 and although the author mentions it isn’t necessarily, book 2 starts right where book 1 stopped, and the worldbuilding and character introductions already done aren’t done again in the second book. To me it seems it should be highly recommend to read book 1 first.
I enjoyed the banter amongst the characters, this book surprised me to say the least - kept my attention throughout.
I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for my review and am leaving this review voluntarily.
First off, I would like to note that I didn't realize this book was a cliffhanger. The second book appears to be a continuation of this one and the full story isn't complete by reading book one. This book was different than other shifter romances I've read. I did find the book enjoyable, different, and intriguing. I didn't expect the love triangle with the alpha and beta, the alpha to have other intimate partners, or the unsettling mystery this book provided. Overall, I really enjoyed it. But there were several times, I just didn't know what to think about what I was reading and that's probably a good thing. I enjoy a variation from the standard romantic formula in books and this first book exceeded expectations.
I received a free ARC copy of this book via Pen Pinery and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was an enjoyable read. It sets up the story well and leaves us on a definite cliffhanger. Set in a world where shifters live hidden in the Wilds, a human with healing abilities lives with, but is not embraced by, the wolf pack. She has no memory of her life before being taken in by the wolves. This book gives hints about this history, and I hope future books delve into this more. I wish the end had a bit more of a wrapping up of a thread of the story, but that is my own preference. The love triangle has some serious heat potential that I'm looking forward to reading more of.
If it had realised it had such an open ending, I might have waited to read all the books together.
This was very short and could with benefit be longer. Lucy was supposed to be a rejected mate but I don't think that would be correct. More like she is intentionally overlooked because she's human.
Lucy is a mystery and we get mere crums of information about her. Kaelen and Ragnar are kinda annoying and everyone wants Lucy all of a sudden. Again, no idea why!
Some politics back and forth, a bit of fighting and then it ends on a cliffhanger.
It was an interesting story that could have been alot more, I just found it to be lacking a bit of information we could have gotten in this first book.
Overall an good story with lots of potensial!
Thank you book sirens for an arc and I'm leaving an honest review voluntarily.
Thank you to penpinery for the ARC. This review is voluntary and an honest one.
This book is very well written. Detailed in every way. The healer is supposed to be human but there’s definitely more to her. She ends up attracting a bear shifter into the werewolves territory and no one really understands why. This story has secrets, a fated mate bond that supposedly is actually forbidden but the male mate is having the hardest time avoided it.
I don’t want to give any type of spoilers. If you enjoy shifters, fated mate bonds, protectiveness, alpha, and even some spice to your stories give this book a read. You will not regret it. Marina Belle did a great job!
This book is a short shifter romance book. It has a feel of the Wattpad books I read around 2015-2019. From the plot to the characters. Nothing really stands out in this book.
There doesn't happen a lot in the book it is quick read but I don't feel like there is the big action I like in books. There was a few mistakes in the book but nothing majo that has that big of an inpact on the reading expirence. The book does feel like it is to a younger reader audience.
I will say that I have an interest in reading the next book when it comes out.
Thank you to Book Sirens and to the author for this advanced reader copy of the book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
I received a free ARC copy of this book from Pen Pinery, and promised to give an honest review.
I need to know more. This book drew me in and then left me hanging. What is she? Where did she come from? What did his parents do? Who was the bear shifter, and how did he know her? I NEED BOOK TWO!
I was not expecting this story when I started this book but was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. I do wish that there was a bit more character development, simply so that I could picture and relate to the characters a bit more. Overall, though, this was a fun read, and I look forward to continuing the story!
I loved Lucia's fight and drive! I can't wait to see what is waiting for her! This story feels fresh, and ending on a cliffhanger is just keeping me eager for more. I can't wait to follow the rest of her story and learn more about Lucia and the wolves! Thank you for this chance to read this as an advanced reviewer! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A quick read and a lot can be said for that. I can't say it was my favorite shifter read but I was/am invested. I want to continue this journey and see where it takes Lucia. I got to say I do hate how they treat here and how she allows it. That mentality in shifter books to non shifters annoys me.
Thank you to Book Sirens and to the author for this advanced reader copy of the book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
Very much a slow burn. I was expecting more steam, but there’s little payoff in this first book. That said, I am invested in the heroine’s journey and growth—it’s what kept me reading. The romance feels like it’s being built up for later in the series rather than delivered here. Or at least I am hoping so. And hoping to get more POVs from the other characters. I will be waiting to read book 2!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Now I always love a shifter romance and this is no different. We have a kinda love triangle, want/lust and a poor little 'human' in the middle of it all. This book is a great starter to this series or duet. We got a bit of action and so many questions that need answers ASAP. Can't wait for the story to continue
This was a rest good story. I was definitely invested. Although, I do wish that it had more depth to it. It was kind of surface level, but at the same time, intriguing enough to keep reading. I really need to know what’s going to happen next.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a shorter read than I like. The book had me very interested in Lucia's story. I need to know who she truly is, how she ended up where she is. Character and world-building are ok. I feel like things were incomplete for lack of better words. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Totally recommend this fantastic story. Author did a great job with details. Storyline moved at a good pace, kept my attention from the first page. Was filled with twists and turns to keep it exciting. Characters were relatable, their connection was intense, loved following along with this story.
Such a great book. The plot was so good and kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next. Keep up the great work and can't wait for your next book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This story is intriguing and I am looking forward to reading the second story in this series. This story contains secrets that remain unexplained and a past that is hidden. The character’s have emotional depth and the reader is able to connect with the themes of the story.
